    A T-shirt quilt is what got me into quilting! When hubby and I first moved in together 5 years ago, he went through his wardrobe and decided he was too old to wear his 'nerd' shirts, but is a serious hoarder, so couldn't get rid of them. Cut to me spending hours trying to put this quilt together (first time ever quilting, made up my own pattern which I now look at and cringe at all the mistakes), but he loved it. It is now on the wall in our games room with all of his gaming consoles and memorabilia.
    What I would have given for this pattern 5 years ago!!!

    I don't think anyone up in arms in the comments section realizes that this is a *show* - It's staged and produced, those are most likely shirts from the thrift store used to go along with the narrative/theme/script for this project. So perhaps stop cringing at her cutting up 'her husband's shirts', and instead take a second to appreciate the fact that this is an entertaining (and very educational!) show that is so exceptionally well-produced that you guys have been able to completely suspend your disbelief to the point where you actually believe the narrative you're viewing is reality.
    It's also an absolutely lovely quilt, and as usual, Angela, you're an amazing host and a pleasure to watch!

    Pellon P44 is a great interfacing for T-shirt’s and with coupons, I can buy a bolt for about $13.00. I also found that cutting the interfacing much larger, laying the interfacing with glue side up and then laying the T-shirt graphic side up, ensures that the interfacing covers all of the graphics.

  • @Battesbooksandhooks
    @Battesbooksandhooks 5 лет назад +9

    One thing I do is to make blocks same widths not necessarily same length. This helps in not wrecking the graphics. or if you have some that are wider you can have those in one row and then you can work with many different size shirts

    I really miss this show!! This is the best T-shirt quilt design I have ever seen! After reading the different comments I can’t help but wonder if this was one of the last ones you did because of people forgetting the fact that it was a show, produced in a studio. I can’t blame you for wanting to go do what you love- teach quilting - without the judgment of people, or rather the condemnation of people. Thank you for the many seasons, the laughs, making hard things look easy! You are counted amount the few who were....are a game changer for me in quilting. Much love...

I cut up Boston marathon shirts from 1983! 49 shirts later, all cut to 14" squares because he didn't want anything trimmed down (plus sashing!), the giant beast is nearly 11 feet long in both directions... now I have to figure out how the heck to quilt it! Loving it. Thank you so much for the pattern. I have so many t-shirts I'm going to be able to make a few.

    um... we're all upset here in the comment section... from nausea to intense fear... we MUST KNOW Jeremy's reaction...

      Jeremy probably knew about it from the beginning. He probably even picked out the shirts Angela could use. I don't get all upset about things like this because it's not going to matter 100 years from now anyway.
