Oh my goodness... How does anyone have the patience for this particular craftwork? I'm not being at all critical, I just can't imagine being able to sit down to this much work.... Especially at midnight! Are quilters the most patient people on the planet? (Or am I missing something?!) Serious respect to all of you who do this!
As a Canadian Brownie leader, a Campfire Quilt really appeals to me! Girl Guides of Canada's signature colour is blue and the Brownie's branch colour is orange, so this one is definitely calling my name! Maybe I'll have time to put a quilt together after I finish hand sewing these badges and crests onto my camp blanket!
What I love about your quilts, is that they aren’t icky Holly Hobby, Super Flowery . Mostly modern and geometric. I’d Very much like to see some Non Blue quilts. I personally love Reds
I found this at the perfect time! My sister's scrap bin was overflowing. Like seriously this 44 gallon bin had scraps falling on the floor! So I graciously (stupidly) offered to bring the scraps home and see what I can create out of the chaos. She has tons of strips! I now know what I'm doing with them 😍 thank you for all your videos.
Today I made the quilt out of some 2.5 inch strips and for the first time ever I machine free motion quilted it. There is a definite rhythm that needs to be found and I have yet to find mine but in time I’m hopeful. Thanks for all the designs and guidance you offer.
In the 80s, my daughter was a top seller of Girl Scout cookies, only because we walked around the center of town and hit all the businesses. Then we had to deliver all those cookies. (%) Just another devoted Mom and Girl Scout leader developing future leaders. The quilt is striking with the background strips in between the colored ones, great tip about crossing over into the strip sections for the quilting.
It's so good to see you agian. Its amazing how you can give me the confidence to try fmq just by watching your shows. You are my hero. Keep the shows coming.
So glad to see you again. I was going thru withdrawal without a new video. Angela, I need to say THANK YOU! I was piling up pieced quilt tops (which I love to do), but was afraid to FMQ them. However, since watching you, you have given me the confidence to try-it (Try-it - also the name of a young Daisy Girls Scouts activities for a badge). I am so excited that I can actually do it. I too am a former Girl Scout and a former Girl Scout Leader - those cookies are addictive and the money from the sales pay for the troop to do activities. They are the only thing that the girls can use to raise money. Anyway, quilt on and eat more Girl Scout Cookies
Aaaah!! The Brownie uniform!! Brings back memories for me! Those orange sock tassels were my favorite part. 😂🤷♀️ This quilt is on my list to do! As always, thanks for a other great video, Angela! 💗
Love hearing you talk about your Girl Scout experience (from another Girl Scout). If I was in your area, I’d bring my girls in to your shop to learn from you how to run a business - you could run a great workshop for the older girls!
Hi ! I love your quilts, and I love your approach to quilting. ..it gives me confidence that I can do it too!! You have a very relaxed attitude to quilting. ..I can relate with the quiet home everyone asleep... Violet. ....Fiji
WOW! At first I thought the colors were not for me, but when I saw the final product, it looked super! I have a funny Girl Scout story. Many years ago, I was a co-leader in our troop and my daughter was a super cookie seller, too She had some help, though. We lived in a neighborhood where there were quite a few pro football players and they would buy 10-12 boxes at a time. My daughter told them that they could freeze the cookies since they bought so many, but they would tell her..."No, we'll eat them right away!"
I just finished this quilt kit purchased 3 years ago. I have both colorways - dawn and dusk. Really simple, but I was shocked at the threads of the fabric shredding. The quilt is a really nice size too. I have 3 other kits you designed still to make. I purchased too many!!
I just want to say thank you! I’ve always wanted to try quilting but everything just looks so old fashioned to me or too complex. I just made my very first quilt top following your directions and it turned out beautiful. I love the modern look of the quilt.
What a great quilt. My sister and I were both in Brownies and one time my Mom volunteered to help. Her job was to teach the girls how to sew on buttons and she had to fail my sister because she did such a bad job. My sister is still slightly traumatized :) BTW, if you precut the logs to size before sewing them on, they won't stretch out. A bit of extra time at the cutting stage will save a lot of grief at the end. TFS.
Thank you so much for doing this pattern!!! I just bought it but did Mod Mountains first. Now that I am done I am really wanting to jump back to this amazing quilt! Loved seeing it come together!
Oh my gosh, I love this quilt! I have been meaning to make it. I am so happy you choose to make this one. Thank you so much. I love seeing more simple modern quilts and how to quilt them.
I love Suzy's work. It's so modern and un-boring. I was a Girl Scout, too, but didn't sell the same volume of cookies as you did. I feel like I've eaten a truckload of their cookies, though...
@@AngelaWaltersfmq I remember hiding boxes of Thin Mints under my bed so that I had them all to myself... I might or -might not- do that these days, too... Hehehe...
I would love to see you turn a corner with that herringbone design. I have a hard time with that. Thanks! This is such a good way to practice some of your border designs from your last challenge!
I love this design, so simple and beautiful. This is the fourth video I watch from you and I’m stuck on when you out the batting. It seems like you go dome putting the pieces together to quilting it. I’m sure I’m missing some steps, but after the fourth video from this channel I’m at a loss.
I am a new subscriber and am truly enjoying your videos. I am somewhat new to quilting, I took a class a few years ago at a quilt shop I had just found and then they closed their doors for retirement, I am happy for them and now for myself since I came across your videos. So many videos to watch, good night, looking forward to the next exciting video. p.s. watched the video with Chloe, she is so darn adorable.
Please please please put in a list of what you need for each quilt and what size to cut the squares for people that don't or can't download love your show
I liked the text on your old photo that said "I'd rather be quilting". I made me think of a quilting friend. Her name is Ida. She has a long arm quilting business. Guess what she named it? Ida rather be quilting!
Really appreciate the fact that you used different quilting patterns; definitely helps me with options for when it's time for me to quilt my project. I did have a question about the binding and batting portions since those parts are always skipped. I've never done a binding before and my first quilt project is currently expected to roughly be 4yds x 4yds. (I know, a lot to do for a first project) however i just want to be prepared for those steps as the batting isn't long enough and I will eventually have to sew the pieces together. Wanted to know if you have any tips or if you could make a how to on these portions. Thanks a million!
I too was a Girl Scout as was my daughter. We always sold over 1000 boxes of cookies each year. That’s how my daughter always got to go to camp! Love this quilt. I have a question for you and Suzi: how do you get color that “bled” out? Like if the navy in this quilt bled onto the white, how would you get it out? ( my color catchers didn’t catch it all) 😩
Hi Angela, I notice you don't pre-wash your fabric. When you wash your quilts with dark and light fabric the first few times do you use the color catchers? Thank you! hugs!!!
You make me laugh - My granddaughter was just recognized for being the 8th top cookie seller in the state of Minnesota with over 3,000 boxes. Keep me smiling - thank you for all you do.
I love watching your videos and have made a couple of your quilts with modifications to meet my needs but usually don’t quilt them myself. I would love to as watching you is an inspiration. Do you use a machine with a stitch regulator?
Hi, I've been watching you for a while and have just started learning how to quilt even though I have been sewing for over 20 years. I am having a bit of trouble getting free motion quilting down. How long did it take you to get your eye, hand and speed coordination down and do you have any tips for me?
How to make quilts look fancy with simple block patterns? I’ve just made my first quilt but as I have (FOUR) sewing machines I haven’t actually quilted it… tips on quilting with a sewing machine? Do I need a specific foot? xx
If you are free motion quilting, you can use a darning foot that came with your machine or purchase a generic Free Motion foot at a sewing/quilt shop. Turn stitch length to ZERO, and put your feed dogs down. You could also do regular stitching and do just straight lines or a grid on your quilt...or stitch in the ditch.
It’s funny, sometimes a see a quilt that just doesn’t spark my fancy, but then I see you put it together and discover that I like it after all. Are you actually putting “spells” on us during your “magic” episodes?! Or am I just getting drunk on your wine? (I hope you know, I’m just kidding. Lol 😂)
