Angela, I find you so sweet, and hilarious. I have been pouring over videos from you and others to find a beginner pattern that I feel confident enough to use as my first quilt. Yes I am going to jump in. This might be the one. I want the first quilt I make to be a gift to my husband for 30 + years of always giving in to my big ideas. I have been sewing clothing and home decor and costumes my entire life. I started sewing with I was 12 and now I am 63. But I've never made a quilt. I have been blessed to receive them as gifts. My oldest quilt is 102 years old. It is all hand sewn. A gift from my grandmother, given to her by her grandmother at her wedding. She was married 60 years when she gave it to me, 42 years ago. I want to make her proud. Thank you for all the instruction and especially the wisdom that it needs to be perfect in thought but not in stitching. I think I've got this...finally.
I have you beat Angela I have 10 floor to ceiling cabinets color coded, but I still buy some fabric especially background fabrics. I too have some beautiful fabrics that need to age and, can't find a way to cut into them either. You're such a delightfully fun teacher and a great quilter. Really do appreciate your effort in these midnight quilting episodes. Thank you
I don’t have any pictures but when I was a little girl I went to my Nana’s house often and she was a quilter. She had a basement room for her quilting supplies and I think two of three walls out of the room were floor to ceiling shelves absolutely PACKED with fabric. My memory is that about 99% of it was purple because that was her favorite color. She passed away when I was very young and I wish I’d had more time in her quilting room with her, eating her special scalloped potatoes.
I learned to love quilting at 7. My grandmother had a quilt frame on the ceiling she let down to quilt. I am 69 now and I think of that quilt frame all the time. Memories for a lifetime.
Doing a foundation paper pieced quilt was on my bucket list. After I got into it, I thought I would go nuts. I think I spent 150 hours on the thing, and it was TEDIOUS! However, I do have to say, the quilt looks great. I haven't gotten the guts to quilt it yet, but that will be my next bucket project.
Angela, I drank two glasses of wine (in a box in those days, lol) with a bowl of popcorn way back in our beginning days together. We lived on $900/mo for a family of four!! I will never understand how we got thru those days!!! I saved the food for my hubby as he worked at a fire dept. and my kids for dinners. Everything was always from scratch--including the pancake syrup.
You are so talented,it's a real pleasure to watch you Quilt,it looks so easy when you do it. I un-quilt more than I quilt.I guess I should have started 60 years ago. Kath 🍷
I'm cracking up as I watch you. The decoy stash! Broccoli! And ... the fact that the fabric that started the whole process ... never even got used! Love your energy and attitude.
Angela, I absolutely love your series and your personality!!! So nice to know I'm not the only one with a habit for fabric :) It's nice to feel understood. Lol! AND love a glass of vino when quilting! Thank you for all of your quilting wisdom!
I agree with you about the quilting. That's my favorite part, too. I only make quilts so I can quilt them! I love your designs and "borrow" them regularly!
Angela, I love it. Who doesn't like /Love going to the fabric shop. I am going to try and post a pic of my stash. But my pattern collection is much more impressive. unfortunately it's spread all over my cutting table, waiting for better organization, and waiting, and waiting..and waiting...It'll get there. I bought enough fabric to make a king size quilt, ten years ago. That one is still marinating. I also have quite a few U.F.O.'s and P.H.D.'s. I am an addicted fabric fondler.
I absolutely love how you pieced this quilt........it stats the the creative juices........I can see some of my most favorite large scrape....say Kaffe Fassett as the center and wow........thank you so much....and of course what a great way to practice our quilting stitches.....thumbs up !!!!!!
Oh Angela, youzzzz funny!! Anyhow, I have a new issue with fabric.. I LOVE FABRIC, that's how I ended up making quilts in the first place!! Plus I was done singing for a living. Now all my lovely older sisters and anyone I knew gave me fabric. The sisters have tons of left overs. YIKES!! Now I just received 3 large tubs of my (deceased 8yrs.) moms HUGE stash! Ya know what though, all my nephews and nieces, over 50 or more get a piece of cloth from my mom!!!!
I love your tutorials and your wit. You make me smile a lot. I have one small box that my family sees but 5 full totes are are hidden or rather not out in the open. A girl has to do shat she needs to do.Keep up your fantastic tutorials...job well done
You are entertaining and so real. Thank you for your stash buster video. Your commentary made me smile, laugh and feel a bit more normal about my love of fabric. Continued great success. Big fan.
I started weaving before quilting so I asked my moms quilting group to save remnants for me to weave rag rugs with. Mostly, they were too small for that so I’ve recently been inspired by you to cut them into quilt block/strips/ triangles to ready them for quilting. It’s time consuming, but that’s what podcasts are for. Thank you for always inspiring us fabric lovers to do more!
I just love this show... I need this bag for my Quilter's for Kids retreat that I am going on at the end of the month.... I would pack Coffee, a couple of kits.... and some wine......
Love this pattern! Your quilting style is so fun, love the "it's square enough" mentality. I'm new to quilting and very much of the mindset that a wonky finished quilt is better than the perfectly square quilt you're still dreaming about. :) Thanks for sharing.
love, love, love the quilting in the center of this quilt... let's see, I think I'll use this "stash" material; no, I'll use this "stash" material... oh, the heck with my "stash"!.. this quilt calls for a special trip to the "stash" store down the street... yeah, that's the ticket!.. love your new design... I'm telling hubby that I thought this up all on my own... he will be so impressed!!!
Awesome Quilt!!! I have tubs and tubs of fabric!! And tubs! All nicely put away labeled...Christmas decor, Halloween decor...no hubs, children grown and gone..so why Am I hideing it all undercover still......who knows!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful quilt. What fun to watch you create it. I am making a similar quilt just now with pastels. It will not be as dynamic as yours but will be lots of fun. Thank you for the great video!
Love this pattern to use for practice on my long arm. This will be PERFECT to use for our group sew tomorrow for people suffering from the latest hurricanes.
I'm so thankful for your videos! Ive been sewing for only a couple years so sometimes tutorials can be intimidating but yours are so fun and easy to follow💗 could you please do a video that covers the steps you usually skip such as making the quilt sandwich, ironing and how you finish the edges of the quilt
Emma, just a suggestion: you can find videos for those kinds of techniques all over RUclips. I think Angela's specialty really is free motion quilting, so that's why she spends the majority of time on her videos showing that.
This might be my favorite video so far. Stash busting... oh wait this is all too precious... I do the same now, but as a teenager I'd rip into anything.
That commentary while auditioning the fabric is me every time, lol. When we moved, I was horrified about the number of boxes marked "fabric", so I started labeling them "dishes".
Angela, I Totally agree with you that the one fabric was just too beautiful to cut up!! :) I'm on a Fabric Diet! :( I haven't quilted in a while because I haven't unpacked my sewing room yet. :( I'd LOVE to see how you label your quilts!!!
You really had me for a moment with your decoy stash! I’ve been a fabric collector for a while and really want to start quilting! Thanks for the inspiration and ideas..
Hey Angela !! What an amazing idea you have come up with. Just love watching your tutorials and your personality really puts a special spin on things. Speaking of which is there a special bloopers section hiding somewhere that you could present to us to really put a smile on our faces. I just would love to know if you have ever accidentally knocked over your wine or stumbled over your words etc. That way when your pushed for time to continue doing the midnight show, you could always slip in a bloopers reel to past the time and keep your fans entertained. Whaddaya think?
Hi. Angela! I enjoy your tutorials. This was a real inspiration for the quilt I am using to make for my nephew who started college. I'm using his school colors. The mascot (grizzly bear) in the middle is why I decided to go in this direction. I had started one with flying geese. . . .but NO! Didn't work for me. This pattern was perfect. I've just started but I really like this look. Thank you for this pattern. Love it. I think he will also. Of course I am going clockwise. I tend to do opposite than everyone else.
I say the same things about the scraps. I buy fabrics, put it up and hate to us it. Feel like I will need it for another project or to pretty to use. LOL! I think we all feel this way. Great video..loved the decoy. When I saw it my jaw dropped...can't be your stash. My stash looks so different.
I love your gold thread design. This is a super good looking quilt. One ready to cuddle under and stay warm. I love all of your videos. You have so much fun on them it makes it great just watching you.
Yes... I made popcorn for this video! LOL. In the middle of it, my hubby calls me outside to help find a screw that fell out of the generator and then I had to help put the pieces back together. UUGG! But hey, if we lose power this winter, the generator will keep the furnace running and we won't have to bundle up in these cute quilts! What??? Did you think I actually use my quilts??? HA!
I can't show my stash, as it is "stashed" in various closets and I've only just started quilting after 15 yrs of sewing professional level ballet tutus. But when my mother moved she gave away several laundry baskets full of fabric (good stuff... Hoffman, Asiatics .... really good stuff) When she passed away 3 & 1/2 years ago there were over 3000 yards of quilting fabric. She only started quilting when she was 70 (it's never too late) and quilted for 20 years & produced an amazing amount of work in that time. I was first interested in quilting at 18, but never got time, now that I'm 62, I'm really regretting that we let all that fabric go for pennies on the $ of what it was worth. I totally get the "midnight" quilter thing though. When I was doing tutus that was the only time I could get work done without distraction. I did more all nighters doing tutus than I did doing papers in college. So glad I finally got to do what I really love.
I began making this quilt after watching the video. I am surprised you can make it in one night! It is taking me forever haha :). But it is only my second quilt. Thank you for sharing this pattern!!
I don't think she actually makes it all in one night.... that's called "editing"! Don't worry about how long it takes you. This is supposed to be a hobby that makes you happy, right? I mean, if you loved golf and played many rounds, what would you have to show for your time? At least this way, in the end you have a useable work of art and a keepsake. Win win win!
Angela, PLS HELP!! I recently discovered all this wonderful quilting stuff. In particular, your midnight quilting show… Which I love. And there are quite a few patterns which I love, OK all of them. Anyway, I’m not able to download them now and it’s making me sad. Will they be available sometime in the future??? I want to use this “shattered” pattern for a Christmas quilt for my mother-in-law. I have the fabric picked out and ordered and everything 😁

We call it our "resource center" not stash! It is wonderful to have a resource center at midnight when the stores are closed.
We moved recently, so I gave a bunch of my stash to my best friend. My DH created my new sewing closet. I love it!
I love your midnight quilt shows. You inspire me.
Kathleen Hurley n
I can't believe how thoroughly entertaining you are. You make making a quilt seem like so much fun.
You are the most fun coolest quilter. Love your videos.
Thank you
Your attitude is refreshing and liberating for a former perfectionist. 🙂
I don’t have any pictures but when I was a little girl I went to my Nana’s house often and she was a quilter. You have such a fun personality! Thank you for sharing this quilt!
I'm supposed to be sewing, but I'm LOCKED in your videos! lol 💙🐝💙
I learned to love quilting at 7. My grandmother had a quilt frame on the ceiling she let down to quilt. I am 69 now and I think of that quilt frame all the time. Memories for a lifetime.

How cute is this. Perfect design for just about anyone. Thanks.

Do not spill the wine. Great personality............🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😃😎 Nice design.
Angela I love your quilting videos best of all. Hope you will make more!
I'm cracking up as I watch you. The decoy stash! Broccoli! And ... the fact that the fabric that started the whole process ... never even got used! Love your energy and attitude.
Loop
Lol I love that you have a whole quilt top in your stash. I cleaned a closet out this week and found 3 tops that I started and never finished.
Angela, I absolutely love your series and your personality!!! So nice to know I'm not the only one with a habit for fabric :) It's nice to feel understood. Lol! AND love a glass of vino when quilting! Thank you for all of your quilting wisdom!
Wow this is just what I need. A visual explanation, that I can replay when necessary. Thank you so much.
Love love love these videos. Keep them up PLEASE
Great show! Wonderful quilt!
I agree with you about the quilting. That's my favorite part, too. I only make quilts so I can quilt them! I love your designs and "borrow" them regularly!
Best night of my week. Thanks.
That center panel is GORGEOUS. It reminds me of cloud or marine patterns you see in some calligraphy and fabric dying styles!
These are always so fun!
Thank you Angela for keeping me entertained during the aftermath of Hurricane Irma! Love your patterns and your cute little life attitude.
Lots of fun!

Oooh! You just inspired me to use my 'Jetsons' fat quarter as the centrepiece for a fun 'novelty' quilt using this method. Thanks a lot, Janet!

"If I cut into it I can't use it for anything else." Is there a truer statement? You summed up my predicament perfectly! LOVE LOVE your show!
You really had me for a moment with your decoy stash! I’ve been a fabric collector for a while and really want to start quilting! Thanks for the inspiration and ideas..
The hardest thing ever for me is to cut into my fabrics, Im glad to see I am not the only one. So many choices and what if i choose wrong, lol

Love this Quilt, it turned out beautiful. Thank you Angela for the inspiration.
Again.. I love the way you quilted it. I hope to be just as good at it as you one day🤔
I honestly crack up when I hear you say your not much of a perfectionist.... and then I see on Instagram a perfectly quilted work of art!
Your ‘decoy’ stash 😂 and yes, glitter fabric is the absolute best!
Yes... I made popcorn for this video! LOL. In the middle of it, my hubby calls me outside to help find a screw that fell out of the generator and then I had to help put the pieces back together. Love the desgin very much and the quilting with the golden thread was a waaaaaw idea
great idea for using with a printed panel for the center
I'm thinking I see this done in black and white! 🥰
What a fun idea!! I definitely will put this on my "to do list"!!
Such fun!! Thanks, Angela.

Yeah! new video! Love it! I always like the quilting advice.
Love the fact you have at least one unquilted top....
I have several, lol. All hanging on hangers in the closet in my round tuit line up.
I love this pattern. Added to my must make list! Thank you😄
I began making this quilt after watching the video. I am surprised you can make it in one night! It is taking me forever haha :). But it is only my second quilt. Thank you for sharing this pattern!!

Ah, thank you! I was afraid that maybe I am just incredibly slow haha. Thank you for your enlightening :)
Love the ponytail and your makeup looks great! Quilt is fabulous too ;)
Never wanted to quilt before, but I do now......you are to funny.
Angela, PLS HELP!! I recently discovered all this wonderful quilting stuff. In particular, your midnight quilting show… Which I love. And there are quite a few patterns which I love, OK all of them.
