Top Ten Best PSVR Games EVER That You Need To Play Before PSVR 2 - Ian's VR Corner

- Seasons greetings one and all and welcome to the final ever instalment of Ian Higton's Top Ten PSVR games lists for Ian’s VR Corner. Since about 2018, Ian has been creating Christmas Top Ten lists for his favourite PSVR games from each of the years that followed but this year is going to be a bit different because this year the PSVR died. Sort of. You see, not only were there really no PSVR games of note this year, but next year is the birth of the PSVR2, so in today’s video, Ian is going to be saying goodbye to Sony’s old faithful headset but listing off his Top Ten favourite PSVR games of all time, stretching from the launch in 2016 right up until now. As per usual, the following list is completely his opinion so if he's missed out on your favourite PSVR game ever, please do share the love for it in the comments below and hopefully, together, we can inspire others to try them out too!
00:00 - Intro
01:12 - Blood and Truth
03:14 - Tetris Effect
04:40 - Super Hot
05:51 - No Man's Sky
07:20 - Hitman VR
08:44 - Moss
10:18 - Beat Saber
11:30 - Resident Evil 7
13:22 - The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners
15:19 - Astrobot Rescue Mission
16:59 - Goodbye, I Love You X

Agree with most but I would have included Wipeout and Rush of Blood
Firewall Zero Hour should be somewhere on this list. Much like Res 7 ruined flat horror games for us so did Firewall ruin flat with PvP shooters for me. There's no other VR game I sunk as many hours into as Firewall.
Tell em Muz, TELL EM!
Agreed. I found SUPERHOT to be fine, but just fine. It never impacts like FIREWALL (or ALVO for that matter).
Absolutely! Can’t believe how overlooked it is. It’s a dream come true game for me, especially with the aim controller. Can’t wait for firewall 2
Agreed. After playing a ton of VR the last couple years, I honestly never want to play a Shooter outside of VR again. Actually aiming a weapon is a much better experience than just using a controller or mouse.
For me personally it just feels like a different experience and nigh on incomparable, i really enjoy the learning experience of playing games like Apex and mastering the sticks, it's all about dexterity. Firewall is so so different that it feels like a different genre of gaming, there's more in common between Gran Turismo and Apex than there is Firewall and Apex, the fact you play with your whole body completely separates it for me. I find the difficulty out of VR is aiming etc, so I get more satisfaction from a kill outside VR, but in VR I find movement much more difficult, from walking, running to finding cover. So in that way I find VR feeling a lot clunkier than a standard FPS. I definitely do not share the sentiment of others here but understand their point of view. Hopefully Firewall Ultra will improve on everything, yet to get my hands on VR2 but will be playing Ultra for definite.
man, Firewall Zero Hour is hard to leave out of top 10 psvr games. Farpoint, Synth Raiders, Rush of Blood, Swordsman VR, Ghost Giant and Red Matter are very good games, maybe one of them would show up in my top 10
cheers! see you on psvr2 ;)
Watching these make me wish I had PSVR...and didn't get nausea while playing. Cheers, Ian! Here's to the PSVR 2!
Don’t give up on VR. I was a day one adopter, but had TERRIBLE motion sickness. My error was that kept trying to “push through” it. That makes it much, much worse.
Limit exposure to short sessions, stopping at the first signs (sweaty palms, belly flutters, burping, dizziness).
MOST people acclimate and become able to play for hours-on-end with NO issues at all.
Things that can aggravate it: empty stomach, over-caffeination, alcohol.
Which game it is (and the settings) can also make it good or bad. Sometimes so-called “comfort” settings can make it worse. They also always make things less immersive, so try turning them all off in any given game before dialing it back. As a general rule-of-thumb you want movement that is exactly what you intended, so the more options the better.
The PSVR 2 has headset embedded haptics that were designed to lessen motion sickness, so it might be the one for you.
My friend takes Dramamine before playing VR lol
Vr motion sickness can take time but you will overcome it , took me a couple of months but at some point went from playing for 20-30 mins before feeling sick to doing a 6 hour session in Skyrim vr with no issues
Motion sickness will disappear after a few VR play through. I disable all vignette in all my play time. I could play wipeout and ace combat 7s VR mode with no motion sickness.
Totally agree with AstroBot being number one. I am hoping they do AstroBot 2 for PSVR2. (Or Three if you consider the game that comes with PS5 the first sequel)
I assume Firewall Zero Hour will be getting its own dedicated video as the all time PSVR GOAT.
Surprised Moss Book 2 wasn't mentioned at the same time as book 1. Book 2 improves on the first in almost every single way. Still a pretty solid list and can't wait for PSVR2!!!!
This is a solid list. Love your continued coverage of PSVR, and enthusiasm for VR in general! Hope you have an awesome Christmas and New Years!
While this year was pretty slow for PSVR releases, it did get a few big titles like Wanderer, Moss Book 2, and Zenith. The latter two have been confirmed to be coming to PSVR 2 (Zenith as a free upgrade, Moss you have to buy all over again), and Wanderer has been heavily implied as getting a PSVR 2 version. So likely there'll be a better way to play all three early next year.
I haven't made a list, but some of my PSVR favourites that weren't mentioned are Skyrim VR, Here They Lie, Headmaster, Statik, Rush VR, Wanderer, Star Wars: Squadrons, Eagle Flight, Wipeout Omega Collection, The Persistence, Pistol Whip, and To the Top.
Firewall Zero hour, Pistol Whip and Wanderer VR are great games too.
WANDERER should be on the list, for sure!
Wow, I've never seen a PSVR top ten list that so closely matches with my own! I'll never forget my time with RE7 and Astrobot 👍👍
Astrobot is my #1 as well, among other platforms its my favorite VR game, just ahead of Half Life Alyx
Firewall Zero Hour should definitely be in the list, best VR game out there!
i think alvo would blow your mind then lol
@@Zeegall It didn't.
@@Zeegall Firewall > Alvo
Absolutely love PSVR!!!!
Tetris vr + shrooms =👌
I’ve played about half of these and really need to play the rest! Gonna have to stick with my current PSVR for a while, the price point of the PS5 and the new VR combined is just not achievable for me rn, so I’m glad to have a few more original VR games to try
Great list. I loved HEADMASTER but have not heard many mention it.
The game I played the most (to improve my position on the leaderboards), must be Tethered.
That early PSVR game was a blast and it got motion control support soon after release.
Solid list overall!
Great list and I agree with your number 1 pick. But I would have definitely included WipeOut, Farpoint (with the aim controller) and Rush of Blood. I might have expanded it to a top 20 list... ;-)
I nearly shed a tear when I plugged in wipeout. Childhood dream right there
Rush of blood is really good ??
This list made me regret selling my headset!! But I kept all the games I loved so hopefully there'll be upgrades for them on psvr2!
No mention of The Wanderer?
Number 1 for me is Firewall zero hour, 4 years after release and I still play almost everyday plus it has been fully supported by the dev team. Not having it anywhere on the list is outrageous.
It’s not on there because the lobby system was trash and never worked. I loved the game but I’d get one match for every 20 minutes of lobby surfing.
Farpoint!
Great list only missing Wipeout, Rush of blood and Farpoint.
Hell yeah. Rush of Blood is 90% of the reason i bought vr
And firewall zero hour
@@Deseko - They’re making a Rush of Blood sequel called Switchback for PSVR2… it’s going to be insane.
@robsmith5434 Switchback is 90% of the reason I pre-ordered psvr2 😁
@@Deseko Did you see the part with the mannequins? They move when you blink…… it’s going to be so friggin scary. lol
Iron Man VR ist definitely missing here!!
I think it was one of the best games I played on PS VR.
SuperMassive's "Until Dawn: Rush of Blood" is my favorite PSVR Classic, and it's upcoming spiritual successor "The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR" looks to be even more amazing for the PSVR2 (and it's a launch title as well).
Dreadhalls was and is and always will be my favourite VR game. I wish the creator would expand and add more to it.
Happy Christmas, EG!
As much as I love PSVR, I'm looking forward to boxing it up and moving on to the PSVR 2 come February!
I won’t be able to box my PSVR 1 until DREAMS gets PS5 & PSVR 2 support. 😕
I just plugged my psvr1 back up..
So my Quest 2 can take the day off..
Plus, Resident Evil 7 in VR....🔥

Song in the Smoke
Wanderer
Arashi
No love for Headmaster, Rush VR, Eagle Flight, and To the Top? 😢
Seriously though, this is a solid list! Not the same as mine, but I respect it a lot.
@@GreyMatterShades Eagle Flight just dropped Out of my Top 50 (it's Nr. 54), Rush VR never really catched me, for To The Top I'm still waiting for a sale and from Headmaster I Only played the Demo 😅
But thank you 😃
@@Our1Path Fair enough! It's all subjective at the end of the day. I love all of them (though I've barely scratched the surface of TtT). And I know all about waiting for sales. I'm still waiting for Golem 😅
Ghost Giant is amazing as well.
Good list, but where is Rush of Blood??
I really liked Budget Cuts.
Job Simulator and Richie's Plank Experience are great for introducing non-gamers to VR
I'd also add Moss and the Ocean Descent experience in VR Worlds as great intros for non-gamers trying out VR.
wipeout and ultrawings for me!
WipeOut and Farpoint are my 2 favorite
Great games
2:59 that was a smooth pun not gonna lie
I feel like Eurogamer pushes PSVR more than Sony do.
I really hope they"ll update Astro Bot so we can play it with the PSVR2.
loved Astrobot, still would rather see a new one for PSVR2
@@solid_justice5855 I don't think its an either/or, they should make a version for PSVR2 that includes the original and a whole bunch of new levels.
@@alexatkin well they would even need to change the galeplay of those original levels anyway then. The Sense controllers don't have a touchpad so that allready is a big difference
@@solid_justice5855they do
Finally got myself a PSVR... just in time for PSVR 2... regardless im starting off my experience with something simple... LA Noire VR
Tumble is very good. I also like rush vr
Farpoint, Firewall and Rush of Blood.
And while Hitman on PCVR isn't perfect, it's still better than the PSVR version.
kind of hope they will update if for psvr2. Then i might play it.
@@solid_justice5855 I believe that they will at least make it on par with the PC version. Having some form of motion controller support makes a big difference. It's true, the interactions are still push button, gamepad style, but having independent control of your hands makes the gunplay actually useable.
Never had the pleasure of playing RE7 in VR. Please Sony, give us a free upgrade!
Seeing how generous Capcoms been hopefully they will give a free upgrade.. and cant imagine sony would pass on bulking up its vr2 library with original vr games
pretty sure that is up to capcom if they want to rework it for psvr2. Because they better change it like RE8 works in vr
@@solid_justice5855 considering how Capcom have taken care of updating the last 2 remakes and village with free graphic upgrades, even 3rd person mode for RE8, I have every faith they're working on bringing all to psvr2, I don't mind paying a small fee either
@@agentshillbot i really hope they do. Was kind of waiting for them to announce it. Still have not played it on psvr1, rather wait for a psvr2 version. But might play it next week anyway since i am of work
RE7 is fantastic on PSVR, especially on a PS4 Pro or PS5.
I'd love to see it come to PSVR 2, but between RE Village and whatever the VR "content" is for RE4 Remake, I doubt we'll get RE7 until way later. Capcom wouldn't want to pull support/interest away from their newer titles. I'd guess we'd maybe see RE7 on PSVR 2 6 months or more after the RE4 VR stuff, and it might just not happen at all.
Damn. I'm surprised Skyrim and borderlands 2 didn't make the cut. They were Soo good
Skyrim is very nice in vr
Id remove Tetris and beat saber and add Firewall and Rush of blood, or maybe wipeout. Other than that, solid list
Lol at Astro at number one and no firewall in the list.
Because Astrobot was excellent & 90% of Firewall was sitting in lobbies hoping a match would begin instead of it erroring out.
How can you have a top 10 PSVR games list and not even mention, "Firewall Zero Hour"?
maybe because it’s not pleasurable to sit in a lobby for 20 minutes just to play the game for about 5 and then repeat
I really hope astro rescue mission will come to psvr2
So sad that London Studios has been shut down. Blood And Truth is an amazing game and we'll never get a sequel.
It's the first time that I fully agree on one of those top 10 lists :)
VR needs More games like moss and Astro bot
Its not my top 10. But nonetheless it's a good top 10 I like it!
Vader Immortal should be included. I thought it made for the ultimate Star Wars experience.
Maybe a top 20 psvr1 games. Also there are many psvr1 games that benefit the power of ps4 pro and ps5. Astro bot, red matter, the persistence,Skyrim, moss just to name a few are a lot better to play on PS4 pro or ps5
no need to play No Mans Sky before considering its a free update to PSVR 2. I'm deliberately holding off for PSVR2
As a first takeup PSVR (v1.0) / PS4Pro user, it's sad to hear this is the end.. I've been nothing but impressed by the relativity low res PSVR... Love it and cherish it to this day..
Shame you didn't mention GranTurismo as it's my go-to VR with my driving rig...
You said yourself that AstroBots is very 'Nintendo', which is precisely why I don't like it... All Nintendo stuff is just childish to my 50yr old eyes... 🤷♀
RE7, HitMan, and Blood n Truth are an absolute must tho.... RE7 HAS to be no.1...!!
I've yet to try Saints and Sinners but I will DL it eventually, along with Moss....
Thankyou Ian for all your years of PSVR news... You've been my no.1 goto since it released... xxx
PS- I made a working WiFi dashboard for my PS4, for Project Cars (1), as it output telemetry via UDP... ALL of which was totally disregarded after the VR version of GT... 🙄
I put 6 months worth of coding into that dashboard project, but still cannot go back to flat after the VR experience.... ( see 'cyclicscooby' for a build n demo (the one with 100+ subs))
If you don't like childish games, you might be put off by the story of Moss. I absolutely love the game (it was my first VR game and is still one of my favourites), but one criticism I have is the presentation of the story. It's all narrated by a single actor (she does the voices of all the characters) and it very much gives the vibe of someone reading a fairy tale to a child. It's either endearing or grating depending on tastes, but I lean a bit toward the latter.
On the plus side, the gameplay itself is great, the environments are beautiful, and the main character is perhaps the most endearing in all of videogames imo. Still, maybe check out some trailers and gameplay videos to see if the story presentation would be a deal breaker for you.
Pistol Whip!
Snag a PsVR if you can’t afford the new model and you will not regret it. I play mine everyday and my favorite game is Zen Pinball FX VR.
Do you guys think any of these games will get remastered for the psvr2
saints and sinners and no man sky were already announced (also moss 2 tough moss 1 on list)
As Piotrek mentioned, Saints and Sinners, and No Man's Sky are both already coming to PSVR 2, as is Moss 1 and 2.
Hitman, Tetris Effect, and Superhot might also get PSVR 2 versions. Resident Evil 7 could as well, but Capcom already has RE8 as a launch title, and some sort of PSVR 2 "content" for RE4 Remake, so their hands are pretty full, and they probably wouldn't want to port RE7 until after those other games have had their moment to shine.
Sadly I doubt Blood and Truth will get ported, since Sony's London Studio seems to be going all-in on a non-VR multiplayer game right now. I have my doubts about an Astrobot remaster too. Sony doesn't seem at all interested in bringing PSVR games to PSVR 2. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a new Astrobot game though, which could be better.
As for Beat Saber, it's owned by Meta, so I'm not sure it'll get a PSVR 2 version. It would make Meta a bunch of money, but they might want to keep it exclusive as a selling point for their own headsets.
Tetris Effect in VR is the closest thing to psychedelics out there.
Try polybius moose life
@@davidsenger4833 Those are fun! Those remind me of cev's whereas Tetris Effect is Obe astral.
Ooooo no wipeout vr, best graphics in psvr by far and a full game in vr it’s like being o a rollercoaster with misses ;)
where is Firewall & Wanderer?
Rigs mechanized combat league
Plumping for a mega PC VR rig? Well, that's one way to afford it, I suppose.
Rush Of Blood ???
how on earth is wipeout not on there!!!!!!
Japan Studio has become a far more solid studio than EA.
The fact star wars squadrons didn't make the top 10 list says something about the psvr 1 library. It's beefy.
Played superhot on Switch and it felt disappointing. I think it's one of those games that is just made for VR, and playing it elsewhere you end up losing what makes it a great game.
Yeah, it actually seems weird for me that they even released it for switch, I was unaware.
Definitely supposed to be played in VR
@@PB-xh8xt I haven't played it yet, but I can't even imagine not playing it in VR. It seems the whole "time moves when you do" only really works with motion tracking due to the precision of control. Also the whole ducking/dodging out of the way of bullets seems like something that would be really awkward without VR.
not true, superhot and superhot vr are different games with different levels
@@PB-xh8xt nah different games, superhot was made first and then superhot vr a different game with different levels came out later
Although I love the concept and the VR experience but I could never pay that much money for Sony to release another and not include BC. Once 2 comes out it makes everyone who bought the last one waste their money no more true support. I can’t get into that if I spend that money I want a generation of what I’m paying for.
You got a generation with psvr, not sure what you're complaining about.
Yeah PSVR was one generation.
Also a lot of Games will get a Upgrade for the new Gen.
Seriously? Tetris effect? It's a 2D game with some music and light effects sold at an outrageous price. My advice, stay clear of that one.
Sadly you cannot play all these games on PSVR2 since it is not backward compatible
They are going to get upgrades !
@@magnusfrost537 SOME of them are getting upgrades. So far Moss, Saints and Sinners, and No Man's Sky are confirmed (and with Moss and maybe S&S you have to re-buy the games). Hitman might come later since there's a PC version with motion controls, and RE7 might make it eventually (though Capcom's already got 2 RE games coming to PSVR 2 in some form or other). Tetris and Superhot might, but who knows.
Blood and Truth, Astrobot, and Beat Saber are unlikely to be ported. Beat Saber because it's owned by Meta, and the others because they're owned by Sony, who seems to have no interest in bringing PSVR games to PSVR 2.
I love shooty shooty games but where are the sexy games
Sony needs to get their head outta their ass and allow AO rated games this gen
you have to play SUPERHOT. it's the most innovative shooter i've played in years!
SUPER

I still don’t know if vr will work for me as I’m virtually blind in my left eye
I think you could still get a fair amount out of it. Even though you wouldn't get as much out of the 3D depth, you could still appreciate being able to look around in the game world and interact in a more natural way using the controllers. The biggest benefit would be the 3D audio that responds to your head position. Audio is a huge part of VR immersion.
I could see you not wanting to drop a ton of money on a VR headset just to find out, but if you know someone who's got one, I'd say give it a try. If you don't know anyone with a headset, there are VR arcades in most major cities now.
