Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil Village are my favourite vr games this year. But I also have a lot of fun with GT7, No Man Sky, The Walking Dead S&S 1 + 2, Call of the Mountain and Song in the Smoke.
The cutscenes in village were all in VR and it was amazing. Expected the same for RE4 but they were all flat screen, still a great game and I have it number 1 followed by village then GT.
Great video, Ian! But I really should have waited until next Sunday to watch this. Waiting for Christmas Day to play my new PSVR 2 just got a whole lot harder!
Psvr2 is my first VR experience it's been so amazing everything I could have dreamed of and more and it seems like theres always new games! Can't wait for the future hoping for more hybrids!
It's a shame you didn't get to. Try psvr1 back in the day. At first it had mostly short experiments. But it had some amazing games like starblood arena and bound.
I maaaaaay (fingers crossed) get a PSVR2 for Christmas, so this ccomes just in time. Currently looking forward to the Horizon game and the Moss games, so let's see what Ian has to add 😊
@@robaxl3088 yeah, my awesome husband gave it to me for Christmas. All the games with character movement give me raging motion sickness currently (will take some time to get used to), but I am absolutely loving Beat Saber! So addictive!
Got mine in April this year and it was such a different experience to the Windows Mixed Reality demos I had previously played at work. COTM was gorgeous (though i got immediately motion sick when my legs got tired and I tried to sit down and play). Only other game I've tried so far has been GT7, but that was right after. Then I had to disconnect it for a while as we shuffled things about. Need to clear the space in front of the TV and have another go though. Got a few more games to try including Beat Saber and NMS. Just need to stop being lazy and get into them.
Honestly, I'd expand on this list to all of VR. Titles like the more recent AC, Crossfire Sierra Squad (the VR game has had tons of great updates, since launch), District Steel (early access, fi that counts), and Vertigo 2 (the best Half-like of the year, easily. It's arguably a must-play), are worth mentioning. 2023 has been a decent year for VR.
@@solid_justice5855 True, but that's not the point I was making. Why limit the list to purely PSVR 2? I'd understand if it was a sponsored video, but I don't think it is (unless I missed it).
Id personally add the light brigade as I ended up spending loads more hours into it then in synapse and also pistol whip.. omg that one was so much fun and so much exercise that my legs actually gave in from under me at one point 🤣 otherwise, great list!
Ian, any tips to combat motion sickness with VR? The games where my character moves immediately make me nauseous at the moment. Best game so far is Beat Saber, could play that for hours
Yea, google “vr motion sicknessness reddit” theres a ton of tips, they key is to Stop playing before you get sick or right when you feel sick. Dont let you brain associate sickness with vr. One thing i did was chew pieces of ginger, i chew it i to pieces then put it under my lip like chewing tobacco, Now i can play for hours!
Here is my top 10 1. Resident Evil Village 2. Resident Evil 4 3. Gran Turismo 7 4. No Man's Sky 5. 7th Guest 6. Demeo 7. Red Matter II 8. Horizon Call of the Mountain 9. Synapse 10. Propagation Paradise Hotel From Games I have not played Crossfire Sierra Squad and Not for Broadcast are the ones which could make it to my Top 10. Had an amazing First 10 month of PSVR2. Just finished RE4 Last night 🥰
Resi 4 for me. It's a flawed VR implemtation but the base game rocks and with a headset on it seriously rocks. Its been a good year but the silence on a new Astro was worrying. Everyone loved the first and yet it seems it might just end up being a one off.
Since 2024 looks rather bleak as a gaming year I'm planning on getting the psvr2 what really sold me was GT7. I played it at a friends house and oh my god was it good!
Thanks! I didn’t know about the Red Matter games, they look great. It’s sad that 4/10 of the games in your list are horror or undead games, but that seems to be PSVR2’s focus, especially for AAA games. Horror games are so common… ooh yet another zombie! Another witch! Another horrible abomination! Common, common, common. And ugly. I wish Sony would make or encourage more big, beautiful AAA adventure games for PSVR2 (that are not horror).
I tried Horizon, and nearly made me throw up. I will never get used to movement in VR, even the teleport option doesn’t help much. Haven’t played my PS VR 2 in months. Before your eyes and Kayak are neat but that’s about it.
It has many great games. You can get used to movement in VR though. Just play in short bursts. Stop if you start feeling bad. If you keep playing your brain will keep making a connection to feeling sick and VR. Also games like Moss might be something more to start with. You don't move, you are the camera
We all react differently. When I got my PSVR2 (my first ever VR headset), Horizon was hard at the start but I got used to it, in short sessions first with all comfort options then I took them off gradually. Games like Moss or A Fisherman’s Tale help get used to it because you don’t move as much. Kayak, on the other hand, is the worst for me!! I got sick just in the tutorial in the swimming pool!! 😂 But now I’m doing parkour in AC Nexus!! (Admittedly, still adjusting to it) but I’m slowly getting used to it all. As said above, don’t try and push yourself if you get sick. Just play in short sessions at first. Your brain will get used to it.
Horizon is way to overpriced i completed it extremely quick total waste of money ! Yes its really pretty but when paying £ 59.99 for a game i expect it to take longer than a handful of hours to complete my advice is to wait till its alot cheaper !!!!
Tired of the same old formula. When a new playstation comes out its grand turismo, god of war, and The same old. Same with vr...these are just all the same games in psvr1... astrobot and the same others..... I'll male a prediction, when ps7 comes out we will be playing god of war and grand turismo...
The latest update to NMS is fantastic on PSVR2 as well. No more blurry vision.
Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil Village are my favourite vr games this year. But I also have a lot of fun with GT7, No Man Sky, The Walking Dead S&S 1 + 2, Call of the Mountain and Song in the Smoke.

Crossfire Sierra Squad is another great one

Saving this list for when I finally cave and get myself a PSVR2
Do it bo it's on sale babyeeeee!
@@allibababoo thanks for letting me know. I did actually end up buying one.

@@DoableJay hahaha the game gave me mega motion sickness, so I never got to the muscle aches. Switched to Moss and Beat Saber instead for now
Good list. Fully expecting virtigo 2, Madison, phasmaphobia and bulletstorm to have a place on 2024s list . Can’t wait 🙌
Don't sleep on No Man's Sky
My headset is hopefully arriving today so thank you for the list, I shifted some games around for my initial purchase spree :)

The only thing i dony like in vr games is the floating hands business. Give us the arms and the full body. Come on now.

@madness1931 because it is a list about psvr2 games. They might make another list for quest/pc
We could do with some psvr1 ports. I would love to play super hot vr again
Id personally add the light brigade as I ended up spending loads more hours into it then in synapse and also pistol whip.. omg that one was so much fun and so much exercise that my legs actually gave in from under me at one point 🤣 otherwise, great list!
No man’s sky vr literally changed me as a gamer. Now every time I play a first person game that’s not in VR I view it as incomplete lol.
Its too confusing! Any tips? I couldnt get past 1st 10mins!
Im stuck at the stronghold on village , the swarm of wolves is giving me anxiety 😬 😅
Great list. I need to pick up Pavlov and just play more VR2 in general.
Great list! Hard to argue with any of these!
Propagation Hotel, Hubris, No Mans Sky, Arizona Sunshine,
Ace combat 8 would be epic on the vr2. When it comes out.
Man it still hurts astrobot, re7, RoB, battlezone and other psvr1 greats havent been ported over. :/
What a line up PSVR2 has now!! Bloody amazing. It's a pity it's sold like poo.... We just need Astrobot 2.
Don't worry. It hasn't even been a full year of VR2 on the market. VR2 story literally just began.

#1 comes as no surprise. Let's hope all those delayed titles do actually come out in a polished form soon.
There are many spectacular titles on Psvr2 but the most impressive are GT7 and NMS in my opinion.

Alvo deserves a mention
2024 is going to trump this list with what we'd had so far and what's to come.
EA WRC needs a VR mode!!
No man sky❤️
I personally enjoyed fnaf help wanted 2 but that’s just because I’m a huge fnaf fan
Wouldn't call the pavlov zombies mode "fully fledged" it's very basic at best
Lost me at allan wake 2 is amazing
Awesome!
just sayin, Robocop should hsve been VR.
Since 2024 looks rather bleak as a gaming year I'm planning on getting the psvr2 what really sold me was GT7. I played it at a friends house and oh my god was it good!
Pavloc is so hard. I don't get it. Zombie mode I drop the gun and can't pick it up. I die on every mode in 2 seconds.
Your missing bloodlines justice a great game

MANY other great games, better than Kayak, could have been Number 10. For example Ghost Signal.
