Sound Tracks and Movies, Kaffee and Kittens. Eileen gone swimming And watching my Chickens. Fabrics and Family and Learning new things A day full of Nothing, makes me want to sing! When the weeds grow When my plants won’t, When I’m feeling sad. I simply remember, my favourite things, And then I don’t feel so sad! ( sung in my best Julie Andrews voice) P.s. singing is one of my favourite things. What a happy post today! Thank you!
The sound of children’s laughter, the scent of bedding dried on the clothesline, the smell of rain, snow capped mountains, fresh baked buns, seeing a smile light up a face, the tenderness of mothers caring for their children, tending my flower and veg garden, the warmth of the sun on my face… the list is yet longer, but it’s a start❣️ thank you for your videos, they are most enjoyable. Greetings from 🇨🇦
You are so on point with saying that you are never too old to learn something new. I am 83 and learning Sashiko and finally got up enough courage to start hand quilting, thank s to you Kate, and I am absolutely loving it. I have got to start that mitered blanket next because I have tons of left over yarn from knitting socks. ......and you are my constant companion on that lime green sofa. Thank you for being part of my life.
I took a very early retirement 4 years ago when I was 60 years old. I love to wake up in the morning without the alarm clock. I love the long lazy days without any stress. I spend my days making quilts, reading and biking around in the town, just enjoying slow living.
Oh yes! Me too. All I longed for while working was a time when I could wake up naturally, without that alarm clock. Funny though, it did take quite a while to not have guilt if I “overslept” or if I spent a day that was not “productive”.
I bet Kate would have been excited to know that in the future she gets to interview Kaffe and Brandon in front of her own quilt. Kudos for her for all her hard work to get that opportunity.
Dearest Kate, Watching your videos is one of my favorite things. You have such a serene and calming nature that brings joy. Thank you for sharing your life, skills, family and adorable critters with us.
Definitely one of my favorite things is the last homely house. It is just like sitting with an old friend. I look forward to every Sunday evening. Thank you Kate.
Me too. I didn't know I was going to be sitting on the lime green sofa tonight. I like the creativeness and the making of things. It was nice to think of favorite things. Spring favorites: redbud trees in bloom and wood violets growing alongside plush yellow dandelion flowers.
Hi Kate~ Are you familiar with ASMR? I just have to say that from the moment you look into the camera and say, "Hello You Tube friends...", I feel a sense of peace and calm; between your laid back ways and delightful sense of humor and love of life...I am always so blessed by spending time with you [and the cats, of course]
I love to go to the beach, or just to sit in the sun on my deck. I love all my craft projects - sewing, quilting, cross stitch, embroidery, EPP, knitting. I am new to your channel, but I am so happy that I found you! Thank You for the inspiration, Kate!💜
I am so blessed that I found you on RUclips! I’ve been binge watching all your videos! You have taught me so many things. Your calm presence is inspiring! Looking forward to the next time we meet on RUclips!
Kate, I so much love to spend time listening (visiting)with you. You are a great inspiration and from you I've learned so much. You are on my list of favourites...enjoy you wonderful and interesting life...
That’s a statement I’ve always stated! I spent about ten years going to technical college doing numerous courses. I love learning new things all the time but I think the best has been learning to make quilts! As there are so many ways to construct patterns and all the different colour combinations it is a never ending learning curve. I’m 74 and hope to be learning for many many more years to come. And of course RUclips is a wealth of information about everything you could possibly want to know and I use it almost daily. Thank you Kate for your contribution to RUclips, it’s an absolute pleasure to spend time on the lime green sofa watching and listening to you, plus learning from you. ❤😊🐝🐓🐈⬛😻🧶🪡🧵🍀
I became teary when you described retiring and waking up with nothing to do. I’m retiring June 1 and can’t wait to be done with a 10 hour schedule and start some of the crafts I’ve been learning from your videos. We’ve sold our large house and are buying a smaller one in the country. There’s a small apartment over the garage which will become my craft studio and I won’t have to clear away my mess for fear of people stopping by. Thank you Kate, you’re a breath of fresh air.
Kate you are like a modern day mr Rogers🙂A calming, smart and accomplished presence to watch. When I was a stressed ,jaded and hardened teen I watched mr Rogers-he calmed me and reminded me the world isn’t always hectic and mean. Now I feel the same kind of things when I watch you.And I am always doing my projects when I watch too(beadwork,knitting)-so perfect for me!
Yes. Last night there I was stressed. I remembered there were a few RUclips channels I would gravitate to in the past at such times. One was Kate so I turned on the episode of taking her mother's quilt tops to the quilter. I enjoy seeing people enthusiastic about making things.
I was quite the jet setter in my youth. Living in Seattle, Washington,U.S.A. I now live in a remote area in Wyoming, U.S.A. I truly love the smell of rain when it comes with thunder. I love that I’ve shed that city mentality and enjoy my days quilting and gardening. Who would have thought? I am enjoying your channel that I have recently found. You have such a soothing tone. Thank You for asking!
I am so jealous of anyone retired! I was suppose to retire at 60 ( this year) but then the govt moved the goal posts and I now have to work until I am 67. I feel sad as it wont leave me very many years of good health ( speaking statistically ) when I eventually do get to retire.
I just turned 70 this month and am retired. I still can’t believe I don’t have a set time to wake up. I especially love leisurely enjoying my cup of morning coffee!
Retirement provided so much-I don’t have to stop doing whatever I’m doing if I don’t want to, I don’t get all upset by the weather if it rains or snows on my days off because there are no “days off” anymore and I can wait for the weather to change, there’s time for just about anything that I want to do, so no more having to cram all things into short intervals of time, I can take breaks and not feel pressured, I suppose its the gift of your own time! My advice is to stay as healthy as you possibly can, because you’ll need mobility and energy more than ever when you do retire. And when you do, revel in it, you’ve earned it!
Favorite things include waking up on Christmas Day with all the kids and grandkids waking up in the house, hugs from grandkids, starting a new quilt, handsewing and audio books, cottage cheese, our big windows to see the trees, having a quilt on my lap, a good book, sitting on the lime green sofa. Pass the ginger beer.
Hello, my current favorite things in the stage of life I’m in is doing things that put a smile on my children’s faces, carrying on family traditions, trying new recipes and listening to the Follow Him RUclips videos (with John Bytheway and Hank Smith) while I work on a sewing project and the littles play legos or magnet toys and the big kids are at school. AND of course, watching your RUclips videos ❤️ Thank you! ~Andrea
One of my favourite things is spending a half hour on Sunday on the lime green sofa with you and your RUclips friends. Oh how I wish it were real. I get tears now when it ends, and I noticed you did too, and you miss Prudence. We’ve all been through such a long year and you have been such a great blessing to help get through it. Hang in there, Sisters. I’ll pass down chocolate, another favourite thing. It can help.
Well said, Kate. When skill goes into the making of a movie or tv show it does make it worth watching again and again. Just as good stories, well written, make the books that we love to read over and over.
I found your channel searching youtube for English Paper Piecing tutorials and ever since then I've been hooked! I'm a young mother living in New England and I put your channel on while I'm doing the housework and it makes it much more enjoyable! Even my kids now wait every Sunday for your videos to post, they love the cats!
Same with me...except that I’m an old woman now. Not retired and never will be, unfortunately. But I love to live vicariously through Kate’s videos. I have done and enjoy doing most everything she does...except weaving. I also have 3 cats!
❤😊 Watching this thinking what is it I don't care too do, chop wood, and sometimes going too bed... My Hubby's would tell U, I Enjoy Too Much, after 27th years he joining me on many of my, our projects 😉 I grew up on a farm, back 60's and 70's graduated couldn't get far enough away... my parents are above laughing, my Grams is Glowing above as they all watch over Us during our Projects 😉 really cutting wood I leave for him, Hubby's better at that!! Keep Creating and Enjoying all, and Thank's for Ur Patients I'm growing in more fun Projects, Keep Rocking Life Beautifully, Enjoying ❤😊
Attitude of gratitude; knowing yourself and accepting and loving yourself without trying to be someone you are not; finding friends who accept you for who you are. I can identify with so many of the comments below that I am sure the group of us (when safe) would enjoying sitting in your pavillion keeping our hands busy in our favourite way and listening to your stories. I too was a thrower, but thanks to Arne & Carlos, have mostly converted to their "Norwegian knitting style", although it's nice to have both methods in your bag of skills. When you are determined to learn something, with time and patience, you can. I think your idea of making a map of your favourite things is great. Your woven scarf is beautiful -- I think it would be worth the effort to try and match the yarn -- perhaps we can all send you odds and sods of yarn we think might match. One of my favourite things is sitting with my knitting and watching your youtube video on Sundays. It feels like a community of like minds. Loved the story of your father escaping the party to watch the hens.
I’ll give you one as I write this in July of 2024. I’m making an improv quilt, while I listen to podcasts and audiobooks, and watch videos like yours 🥰. It’s hard to put it down and do other things, or even go to bed!!
hummm.... my favorite thing is my hands...with them I get to hold a grandchilds face, garden, stitch...touch another person...thank you for this moment
Kate, you make me smile and wish I could visit. It would be fantastic to be able to learn from you. Thank you for all the smiles that I get from watching you and the cats. Your chanel is a happy place to visit. Thank you for the visit across the large pond.😊
My favorite things include: anything fiber-related (sewing, quilting, knitting, needlepoint), digging in the garden, walking in the woods. Color is SO important! Having several things on the go at any one time -- I'm never bored. Flowers. Falling asleep to the sound of rain. Watching you, Kate.
3 years later, it’s now my turn to share my favourite things. Family, friends, sewing, knitting, sharing my crafts with people I love or are in need. Spring and fall are my favourite seasons. The Last Homely House is quickly becoming my favourite RUclips. Thank you!
Knitting socks, Malteesers, and a good cup of tea, walking my wee dog, candles, retirement And the list goes on... thankful to experience all the lovely things and beauty in this world.
My favourite things are listening to and watching nature, learning something new however big or small that may be, reading, but my most precious and most favourite thing to me is my family. My current favourite thing to do recently is watching your videos. Thank you for being your wonderful self.
My favorite thing right now is heading to New York to see my daughter for the first time since December 2019. My plane leaves Chicago at 2:20 tomorrow - less than 24 hours!!
Thanks so much for this prompt, Kate! It brought tears to my eyes thinking about my favourite things because I was reminded how wonderful life is. After a year of focusing on all the bad things happening to me and the world, it’s so good to bring some balance back to my perspective and to feel grateful. 💚
My favorite things. COLOR. COLOR of fabric. Flowers. Sunrises 🌅. Sunsets 🌇 Rising moon 🌙 Full moon 🌝 colors of the WORLD. Now seeing the Seas of the UK. Reminded me of our North Carolina seas.
I love God, my family, the wind, baking, crocheting, quilting, wire work jewelry, trees (a special favorite), watching my neighbors’ chickens while i craft in my kitchen with a big window, cats , dogs, birds, ....actually this is not a complete list. I love many parts of my life
My favorite things are making Sunday dinner and have all my children and Grandchildren playing and laughing. I love videos of my silly Granddaughter. Kisses from my husband just because, all my pets and watching them play, cool breezes at night, laying in bed and hearing nothing but my families breathing. fresh clean laundry. and kind of hand work, nature, being alive, your videos. I guess everything in life that is kind, fun colorful good people. blue skies I can go on and on be safe and take care. .
I believe that keeping a running mind map of things that we love and enjoy is a great way to not only boost morale, but to help us to be mindful of all that brings gratitude. Keep it somewhere visible, and always add to it when things come to mind. Even if you're having a good day, seeing all of the things that you enjoy written out can make it even better. I send care to all in the LGS/LHH community - I hope that you are all well, in all ways. Thank you, Dear Kate, for everything, as always. 💚
Watching RUclips, crocheting or eating a tuna melt toasted sandwich is a favourite of mine. Walking along the beach hunting for sea glass. Art early in the morning before the household wake up. Being among the trees listening to birdsong. My absolute favourite thing is reading with my 3 year old granddaughter and having a cuddle. I too watch hens at work, they are indeed stupid but each has their own character. We have 3 rescued turkeys who are slower but more curious and charming 💛in summation anything to do with art or nature will be a favourite 🤩☘️🎨☕️and of course tea 🫖 xxx
Today, I thought how I love my hands as well... stiching, knitting, gardening, making fermented foods or dehydrating things from my garden. I thank God for my hands and you, such a lovely companion.
Very sad to hear that Andrew from Fruity Knitting has lost his battle, love and prayers to Andrea and Madeline He was a true delight an amazing person and a knitting legend, slow but persistent, always had a twinkle in his eye and a caring smile, I am sure we will all, very much miss him.
Thanks for saving me a seat on the Lime Green Sofa. I just became a member today. I love - RUclips videos, color, the warm sun, kittens playing, watching children play, shrimp, Jennifer, Garen, Anderson & Hudson..
Watching your videos is definitely one of my favorites. Sometimes I watch them for several hours! You cheer me up when life gets me down. Thank you for that🌹
Fabulous subject today, Kate. You can do this any time. I'd have to say that this is one of my favorite episodes ever. Many of us here on the lime-green sofa likely share most of your favorite things. We are a great flock of birds of a feather... what a lovely company to be a part of. Sending love and greetings from Ohio.
Kate, I just turned 71, and retired about 7 years ago. I totally agree with your favorite things, but absolutely AGREE with your favorite of getting up without an alarm and not having anything that has to be done or is scheduled. I have to grin when my husband asks me what I'm doing today and I am able to say "anything I want to". He is quite agreeable and just smiles. We both keep very busy staying at home. You and your videos are greatly appreciated!
I would so love to be able to sit in the pavilion with you doing some embroidery and just chatting the day away, and having the cats come in and sit on my lap. I so miss my animals. I also love chickens, and when I had them in S Africa, could sit for hours listening to them and watching them. Thank you for bringing these memories to the fore
I have told my husband so many times that if I were to have a "bucket list", it would simply say "Spend time with Kate, face to face". What a lovely human being she is! I am crazy about chickens myself; they would be a bonus!
Awww I am sorry you miss your animals...all I have are my animal family and can’t imagine them not here...they are all so special as you very well know🤗
@@LadyoftheFarm Yes my pets were all very special, but since moving to Ireland I am living in a rental property and the landlord does not want animals here. I can understand hat, as we have farms with sheep and cattle all around us, but I do miss not having a pet. I feed all the feral cats, though lol
@@phyllismurray525 awww bless your sweet heart! I get it! I don’t understand that rule either! It sounds like you live in a very magical place! I live in Tennessee and wish I could move to the UK but the reason I never endeavored that was because of all my animals...
@@LadyoftheFarm My late husband and I left South Africa because it was not a safe place to stay anymore, so hard choices had to be made. I did bring one of my cats with me, but she has subsequently passed on. Luckily I have two stray cats that come and get fed here, but they go their own way after food. Typical cats lol lol. The one is really friendly, so I do manage to get a cuddle in every now and then. Bantry in Ireland is the most beautiful place on earth, and I feel very lucky to be able to call this place home. I am very very blessed
One of my favorite things is watching RUclips and feeling like I have friends around the world. Also not having to wake up to an alarm clock and just going with my own flow is pretty awesome.
Kate You are a dear person and it really is like sitting on your sofa and drinking proper English tea and cookies❣️I’m from a smallish town in California close to San Francisco ❣️Love the visits❣️🥰❤️
Yes, you're right, my favourite things just happen to be numerous crafts but especially sewing. I love quilting. At the moment I'm making a double sized hexagon quilt for my bed. Today is my 65th birthday and I've had some beautiful presents from my family including a floor standing quilting frame. Thanks for another fab video Kate. ❤️
Amongst my favourite things are: Kitties Birds, Free time..time to just be. Crochet ..nothing too complex Watercolours...will never win a prize but love to splash it around The play of reflections on the wall or the ceiling Watching the crows bathing in our fountain...feathers all fluffed up and dripping wet. Those smiles that reach my sons’ eyes. Too many things to mention
One of my most favourite things is being with friends who are equally creative which I miss terribly. Because they all spend time online for work, family, other friends they are all reluctant to do crafty things with me on zoom so I am actually very lonely tbh. Thanks for your videos Kate...just your weekly ramblings feels like being with my friends again. X
Perhaps you can do crafty things on the Last Homely House Lime Green Sofa Facebook page? There are others who love to do crafts. You can join in, we have a cozy sofa for everyone and there are tea and cookies going around for everyone. Virtual cookies so you can have them without having to diet lol.
My favorites: my mother, who is teaching me to quilt and inspires me to be a life-long learner; my husband, who loves me regardless of the menopausal mood I may be experiencing; a day, or even a week with no calendar commitments; and 0:00 orange, pink, and green. 🌸🐝
I love watching my hens. My girls are intelligent, most chickens are. Makes me happy to see them use those big feet XD My kids, my cats, my crafting, my work, my chickens, my garden. So much I love.
The community you inspire and invite to sit on your Lime-Green-Sofa to share life with, is one of my favorite things. Blue sky, my dogs, porch sitting, knitting and the ocean are also some of my favorite things.
LOL I love your scrabble hounds handle ; may I ask what inspired this? You like words and dogs? Because I do like words and word games and I adore dogs.
@@musicmexicanna6105 I love to Geocache. Scrabblehounds is my geocaching name. I love word games and I have three dogs. I especially love the app called, word chums. So I guess that is even more things that Are my favorite things.
My thing is to do is waking up relaxing have a day of cross stitching or crafting or quilting FaceTiming with my family and friends and I want everything you're talking about and everything you were showing thank you for sharing thank you so much😊😊🧵🧵🧵😇😇😇
Listening to Kate's stories and watching her craft is a favourite; the smell of a garden after a soft rainfall, sitting near a pond and watching dragonflies and butterflies, tickling my grandchildren, reading the series: Little House on the Prairie (very therapeutic), Christian hymns played on an organ, hugging my grown-up kids, eating lasagna with a favourite person. I am grateful to God, the giver of life.
Learning new things: I am a “thrower” when knitting and 70 years old who taught herself Portuguese purling, continental knitting and Norwegian purling over the last few months. Now I have multiple options depending on the project.
Pine trees and their smell on a warm summer day, soft colorful indie dyed single ply yarns and the fun socks and scarfs I make with them, my awesome nephew ☺️, vacationing in England, my best friend and how she makes me laugh and reminds me that I’m loved, my iPad 😄, swimming in a clean lake in the Green Mountains of Vermont, a quiet day relaxing. Can’t wait til I can retire in 2027 and no longer live by anyone else’s schedule.
My three cats, crocheting, baking, potting and gardening, painting, watching the birds with a wonderful coffee my husband makes,my home and surrounding, grandkids, rewatching wonderful old tv series like ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL.,lying on my bed with good RUclips podcasts, sweet things, pizza, sewing, walking in nature, good friends and family, music.OH and jigsaw puzzles!
I love listening to you as I sit here on my front porch hand binding a baby quilt for a friend. I am also a MAKER, a title that I wear with great pride. So happy to join a fellow maker! Making makes my heart sing!
One of my favorite things is having crafting time with my 7 year-old son. Right now he's learning how to hand sew a basic bag for his toys. He's so proud of his stitching & so am I. It's just absolutely wonderful to see his excitement for a craft that I love as well. ^_^
My favourite things are RUclips as it allows me to delve into lots of different things, my garden,my dog, my Dolls house and the little things in life x
- Being at the seaside, - The song: "Kisses sweeter than wine" by Peter, Paul and Mary - The more than 2000 daffodils in my garden which I planted 12 years ago so that I can feel the last lines of Wordsworth's poem: "And the my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils." Dear Kate, thank you for your stunning videos, they also fill my heart with pleasure.
I like all things crafting including weaving on a small loom which grows very quickly using different wool and even fabric. Sitting quietly listening to the birds. Walking among trees. The wonderful pageantry that this country puts on and which in normal times brings in lots of tourist revenue which is a bonus. The two fish that we have got left in our pond, Chop and Suey, we have had them since 2000. I have a long list and never get bored with life.
Because of the lock down & the impossibility of visiting friends, etc a favorite thing for Sunday is knowing u will be there to tell us stories, we’ll see u crafts& I can pretend I’m in England again. I really appreciate ur giving of ur self to us. Save my spot of the sofa.
Top 5 favourite things learning a new knitting stitch or technique, getting new needles or markers or any new knitting gadget, adding a tea cup to my china collection, drawing or painting with my grandsons , watching my dogs. Also up there near the top of the list…feeling the sun on my face after a long Canadian winter, the wind, watching the water! Gosh, so many lovely bits of life!
Just a few: my family (I have a large one with 2 more great grands on the way), my faith, friends, music, singing, quilting, reading, watching a sunset or a sunrise, hiking, camping, feeding my birds, flowers, watching you from your LGS with all these wonderful RUclips friends❤I could go on & on 🥰
Learning new things! Keeping my hands busy! Needlework, reading, paper crafting, gardening....my family and time together. My favorite things! Being grateful for all I have and being retired!
I love your talking about of so many things that i have done threw out my life- im 75 and have done variety of - weaving, quilting, seeing garments, knitting for grandchildren , gardening- love it! - - cats through my life- still now- some Art painting, photographs, pastel- , and drawings- - we are so much alike! Ocean - Birds 🦅 watching and learning from Cornell, usually raptors- vegs, herbs, andanimals and more in Newzealand- - tiny bit of spinning- - -an very old house- Lived 41 yrs in New England- and 3 kids- thats my life- now i had a stroke and learning-as a disabled- - start again- my favorite is stitching- now embroidery- snd a combo- nice to talk with You, Kate- on a beautiful day!You tube friend from Florida, Sandi Whitaker Myer
Kate, I’m a new subscriber and completely enamored with you and your channel! After watching this, I realize that we have so much in common! I too, love color, cats, watching hens, Kaffe Fassett’s eye for color in everything he designs, and have tons of unfinished projects because I also like making things with my hands. And I agree, and say all the time: it’s more about the process than the product! It’s such a delight to find you! ❤
I love a lot of the same things : my cat, being busy with my hands while watching tv or listening to something, my yarns and deciding what to knit of crochet with them, reading a good book, walking in the sunshine. A lot to be grateful for.
So many friends, who are all younger than me, by ten years and younger, say they are worried about me now that I am retired. They want to know what I plan on doing. I said and still say what ever the blank I want and when ever I want to. I, like you, always have something in my hand to work on and love it. Love getting up when I want and going to bed when I want. I also like not being responsible for anything but me and my pets. I was an Early Childhood Educator and to this day I still have bad dreams of things going wrong with the jewels I was in charge of. It didn't feel as bad when I was working as it seems in my dreams. I love watching your videos and being on the lime green sofa.
Thank you for all the years you taught young children. I was a children's social worker at one time & also director of a women & children's shelter, it was the early childhood educators that changed young livesfor the better.
I just love watching all your vid's! Over and over. I agree with your feeling about having nothing to do each morning, with no alarms or obligation to the company. Within hours of retirement i realized I needed surgery to remove the smile from my face!! Thankfully it is elective surgery and I do not choose to have it!😁
Dear Kate, I have to say that my list of favourite things would be almost identical to yours, with addition of my collie dog and painting pictures. While you were making your video, I was probably about 20 miles from you enjoying the same sunshine, while painting my gates! And that makes me think, that one of my favourite things is Northumberland, and certainly Holy Island. Your videos are a joy, and this last one brought a tear to my eye.
I know exactly what you and your dad mean when talking about social functions. I too have always hated them. When I was younger I used to live in Hebden Bridge and would be persuaded to go out for a drink with friends to the pub. After a time I would always feel like I had had enough and would quietly dissapear off into the night. ( I found it easier to leave without saying anything as if I did say I was going there would be some friends who would try to persuade me to stay longer) As a result my nickname became "Urban Fox"
@@vivsalittlebitcrafty4854 Im not prepared to admit to being anti social! We are just the sort of people who become overwhelmed after a while in social situations and need to go off somewhere quiet and re charge as the social settings can feel quite exhausting. I am proud to say I am an introvert!!!
@@kitchenworker446 That's me too, all the way. I often dread get togethers, etc. and then will have enjoyed myself after they're over but I find this getting even tougher as I get older. I admit lockdowns and distancing hasn't been as hard on me as others who need more social contact. I feel these Visits with Kate are great for us "I" kind of people! EM 🌞+☔=🌈😊
Okay some of my favourite thing's are my 4 'kids' and grandies of course, buying beautiful fabric's before I even know what I'm going to do with them, reading, puzzles and my newest favourite thing is sitting back with a cuppa and watching you Kate. Your video's are so informative and relaxing. Thank you.
The smell of clean washing that’s been out on the line all day, social dancing, sewing (newbie quilter), nature, animals, waking up in the morning & seeing that my calendar is clear, even better if it’s clear for the whole week, country walks, looking at old houses, charity shopping, Cadbury’s Caramel chocolate bar and the occasional specialist gin, making hedgerow jams, sloe gin, making new things from old fabric, upcycling furniture saved from landfill. Pre-COVID I loved to travel & sail. Blimey, that’s a lot!
By far my favorite thing if being with my daughter and my granddaughter. I’ll be 79 in June and retiring from the alarm clock was wonderful. I quilt and I love my garden I enjoy our Senior Citizen Center here. My favorite day is Sunday because of church and I get to see Kate and the last homily house. Love to all on the LGS.
Family, music, knitting, dying yarn, dancing, hula hooping, beaches, mountains, goats, cheese, scrabble, cryptic crosswords... so many things. It's hard to narrow it down. I have a weird brain that not only craves certain food it also often hungers for a certain colour and I need to find something the colour I'm craving or I start to feel a bit weird.
Just seeing this and relating rather well to "waking up to a day of nothing!", since I've been retired for the last year. It IS just so freeing to know whatever 'floats your boat' is what you can do AND if you change your mind in the middle of the day, you CAN! How grand is THAT??!
Sound Tracks and Movies,
Kaffee and Kittens.
Eileen gone swimming
And watching my Chickens.
Fabrics and Family and
Learning new things
A day full of Nothing, makes me want to sing!
When the weeds grow
When my plants won’t,
When I’m feeling sad.
I simply remember, my favourite things,
And then I don’t feel so sad!
( sung in my best Julie Andrews voice)
P.s. singing is one of my favourite things.
What a happy post today! Thank you!
OH!!!!!!!!! I have pinned your comment so it appears first! I LOVE this - you are a genius! I'm going to sing it all day! xxx Thank you xxxxxxx
That's brilliant!
Love this too. It's off the chart isn't it? Can't top it. Brilliant!!
Genius!

Good morning, my favourite thing is watching your videos, while I’m sewing.

@@missmayflower I completely understand. I had to overcome the same quilt but you will learn to let the guilt pass.
Yes yes yes, I love the fact I can wake up with no alarms and enjoy the quiet to pray, crochet, handset, knit or embroider.
I could not have said it better
I agree!
I agree! !💕
You said it. I feel the same way. I love watching her and it is so calming,,thank you Kate,
ASMR really got my husband through some tough spots...so very thankful!
I love to go to the beach, or just to sit in the sun on my deck. I love all my craft projects - sewing, quilting, cross stitch, embroidery, EPP, knitting. I am new to your channel, but I am so happy that I found you! Thank You for the inspiration, Kate!💜
Ditto!
I am so blessed that I found you on RUclips! I’ve been binge watching all your videos! You have taught me so many things. Your calm presence is inspiring! Looking forward to the next time we meet on RUclips!
“You are never too old to learn something new” is something my mother always told us. Loved hearing you say this. I am 72 and I am still learning.
yes your right and that keeps us young and fun xx
Kate, I so much love to spend time listening (visiting)with you. You are a great inspiration and from you I've learned so much. You are on my list of favourites...enjoy you wonderful and interesting life...
Me too! im 75😂
I’m 80 and I’m still learning, it’s what life is about I think.
OH! June will be here soon - you'll LOVE your new space xxxx
How do I darn my socks? I place them over the bin, say darn darn darn and drop them in! Lol
Yes!
That’s about how I fix things! 😂
I’ve never darned a sock... that is with needle/fiber🤔🤪. But Glenys that works for me🤣🤣
❤️😀
😂
I do like waking up without the alarm clock and doing all sorts of sewing and crafts on my schedule!
So, so true. You said it beautifully!
Yes. Last night there I was stressed. I remembered there were a few RUclips channels I would gravitate to in the past at such times. One was Kate so I turned on the episode of taking her mother's quilt tops to the quilter. I enjoy seeing people enthusiastic about making things.
I find you so relaxing, hope your life is as calm as it looks
That's exactly who I've thought of when watching Kate's channel.
Omgoodnees I've thought this too!😁
I was quite the jet setter in my youth.
I Love Wyoming.
Yes yes, being retired from the alarm clock led schedule is a fantastic blessing. I’m 70 and treasuring these days.
I am so jealous of anyone retired! I was suppose to retire at 60 ( this year) but then the govt moved the goal posts and I now have to work until I am 67. I feel sad as it wont leave me very many years of good health ( speaking statistically ) when I eventually do get to retire.
I'm 72 and retirement is one of my favorite things.
Yes, been retired for 2 years & I am loving it.
I have a name for it now! Waking up to a day of nothing. It IS perfect.
It’s wonderful!💜💜💜
Nice to meet you Missymayflower.
Yum, thank you
I wish it were real too! I’m right there with you!
Awww super sweet... chocolate always helps thank you!🤎
Yes, I love the lime green sofa, as well. I like to think it's real in a parallel universe!
My story is very similar to yours. Is just fab isnt it!
Same with me...except that I’m an old woman now. Not retired and never will be, unfortunately. But I love to live vicariously through Kate’s videos. I have done and enjoy doing most everything she does...except weaving. I also have 3 cats!
Same here
❤😊 Watching this thinking what is it I don't care too do, chop wood, and sometimes going too bed... These past few years I hv been healing many heath issues, Very Blessed to be Healing!! After Arnie and Carlos U were on, I'm actually sewing again, oh one day hope to hv an updated newer machine, this one is my first over 50 years ago, uffta!! Keep Creating and Enjoying all, and Thank's for Ur Patients I'm growing in more fun Projects, Keep Rocking Life Beautifully, Enjoying ❤😊
“Waking up to a day full of nothing” has got to be at the top of my list of favorite things too!
I have 8 girls and a guard duck. I love watching my hens and love when they till a space in my garden.
Blessing from Gadsden, Alabama USA
Oh Kate, a fulfilling life of peace and contentment is just what this video is about. You so truly fill my ❤
hummm.... my favorite thing is my hands...with them I get to hold a grandchilds face, garden, stitch...touch another person...thank you for this moment
Oh Kate, l too am a retired nurse. I have to pinch myself to know it's real, not working to the clock anymore. Absolutely bliss.
Thank you!
Knitting socks, Malteesers, and a good cup of tea, walking my wee dog, candles, retirement
And the list goes on... thankful to experience all the lovely things and beauty in this world.
My plane leaves Chicago at 2:20 tomorrow - less than 24 hours!!
have a fantastic time together; family is so important now. I am thrilled for you.
Thanks so much for this prompt, Kate! It brought tears to my eyes thinking about my favourite things because I was reminded how wonderful life is. After a year of focusing on all the bad things happening to me and the world, it’s so good to bring some balance back to my perspective and to feel grateful. 💚
I'm so glad! xxx that is how all these comments are making me feel - its wonderful! xxx
Beautiful ❤
Starting the video outside with your big beautiful smile is inspiring me to go outside and smile too! 😀 Your mood is contagious
Absolutely!
I love many parts of my life
My list goes on,love nature ,animals and the sea.
What an awesome idea, thank you for sharing❤️😀
Kate you have done embroidary. Yes use sock yarn, embroidary your favorite colours, flowers, or ???, will be fitting
Thank you for that🌹
She does put the calm in my day! Thank goodness for Kate!
Favorite things-Knitting, music and dancing, and especially family❤️
Iced tea anytime, sewing of a lot of things-crafts, quilting, cross stitch, crewel embroidery, spending time with my dog, Blue! (he's a dachsund mix!)
One of my favorite things is watching RUclips and feeling like I have friends around the world. Also not having to wake up to an alarm clock and just going with my own flow is pretty awesome.
Kate
You are a dear person and it really is like sitting on your sofa and drinking proper English tea and cookies❣️I’m from a smallish town in California close to San Francisco ❣️Love the visits❣️🥰❤️
❤️
Wish you a very Happy Birthday Annie. XXX

Amongst my favourite things are:
Kitties
Birds,
Free time..time to just be.
Crochet ..nothing too complex
Watercolours...will never win a prize but love to splash it around
The play of reflections on the wall or the ceiling
Watching the crows bathing in our fountain...feathers all fluffed up and dripping wet.
I love the sea my family my grandaughter Dolly who's 2 in november shes just perfect

My thing is to do is waking up relaxing have a day of cross stitching or crafting or quilting FaceTiming with my family and friends and I want everything you're talking about and everything you were showing thank you for sharing thank you so much😊😊🧵🧵🧵😇😇😇
I think my favourite thing is simply making things - my life would not be so colourful if I couldn’t make.🥰
Knitting, quilt, writing, sewing, my garden and my dog. I am always bussy.
I'm totally with you on the waking up with no one telling you what to do, no schedule!! Free time to do as you wish. 😉
Oh, you really struck a chord with me when you mentioned waking up to a day full of nothing. Definitely a favorite thing!
Kate that square blanket is stunning. Awesome colours. Love the 4 coloured blocks. Wow. You are incredible with your lookout of life.
You most decidedly are one of my favorite people to watch. You bring joy to my life, so thank you.

I love listening to you as I sit here on my front porch hand binding a baby quilt for a friend. I am also a MAKER, a title that I wear with great pride. So happy to join a fellow maker! Making makes my heart sing!
camping on my favorite lake here in North Carolina. Spending time with my kids and sweetheart. Being alive! Thank you! Hugs, Deb
- Being at the seaside,
- The song: "Kisses sweeter than wine" by Peter, Paul and Mary
- The more than 2000 daffodils in my garden which I planted 12 years ago so that I can feel the last lines of Wordsworth's poem:
"And the my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils."
Dear Kate, thank you for your stunning videos, they also fill my heart with pleasure.
You, Kate, are one of my favourite "things"!

One of my favourite things is listening to you and watching you create.
You really are joyfully thanking for the gift of precious life you have. I'm joining the sofa from Poland. Cheers!😊
@@debbieduh2065 thank you
I just love watching all your vid's!
My favorite thing is creating. Quilting, painting, crocheting, knitting, holiday decorating, cooking, baking. It doesn't matter what. I enjoy it all.
I hear you Jan. I really believe I've become quite anti-social!! and not due to the last year's events!!
@@kitchenworker446 Yes Jan, you are right, introvert is a much better description.
EM 🌞+☔=🌈😊
@@eileenmc8808 Yes I agree totally.
Thank you.
One of my favorite things is The Last Homely House!
I love these - especially the washing! mmmmm
Sewing, canning, baking, my husband, family, but like you Kate, I have many many More!
