Wow that had to be expensive, I would be scared to look. Binding will take time. I like non binded quilts. But I guess you would have to do them by hand.
So wide range of beautiful quilts for these of yr Mom’s made- I can’t decide which is my “favorite”- thank you Kate and thank for showing of those with Cery! Sandi Myer💕🥰
Maybe its Cath and not Cery- she has many customized beautiful quilting types- so much better than I have seen! Thanks Cath!
Wow! Cath did a wonderful job 😁
My absolute favorite is the Purple-y one! 💕👵🏻
Beautiful!
Beautiful Beautiful
Absolutely beautiful thanks for sharing.
I wanted to thank Martha for her video on her allotment. I'd had been thinking about getting one for a while and the video made me decide to actually go trough with it. And yesterday I got one! I'm a compleet novice when it comes to growing my own crops, so its a bit daunting. But i'm so looking forward to getting stuck in. Thank you! :D
@@indigoandbrown I had a look and it looks great. Thanks for the tip :D
I am so pleased! watch Charles Dowding and Huw Richards - two of my favourites to get you started! xxx
@@thelasthomelyhouse I'll check them out. Thank you. 😊
Gardening is as fun as sewing! There are tons of good videos on YT, Hew Richards is in the UK, and there is one fellow I watch who does allotment gardening, probably just search allotment gardening. Good luck, every plant is an opportunity to learn, whether a great success or not. Green beans are a really good choice for a beginner, choose a bush bean, not a climber for small spaces.
@@lilolmecj thank you Carol, that's great advice. 😊
I am gobsmacked! I hope I used that word correctly! 🤣 What a wonderful memory for your mum’s family! Each one of them is gorgeous! I have Victorian crazy quilts in progress, and now I am inspired to do even more! I’m sure your mum is smiling down on you!
Love the finished quilts!❤
Youe mum can hug you all from heaven😇
Muahhhhh and smooch smooch 😘
For those of us who are quilters, what a reminder that our quilts will outlive us and go on to offer comfort for years to come. Thank you for sharing with us, Kate!
Your mom would have been thrilled to see her tops turned into quilts; the finished product.
A precious moment in time. 💚
My Mama had just given away her 100th quilt when she died. She was a master quilter and I could never compete. Her choice of colors and designs was unparalleled. This episode was very meaningful to me and I thank you.
Makes me almost want to restart the paper pieced project I started when I was in my late teens ( or maybe I’ll wait and do it in 18 months when I’m 60!]
I’m so excited for you Kate
Cath did a wonderful job choosing the quilting designs! Kate if I were your family member I would want the string quilt because you and your Mum worked on it. I have a quilt from each of my Grandmothers and I cherish them both, and your family will love these too. Happy Binding!
that's lovely - I think the string might be staying with me? maybe?
As a complete novice to the quilting world, I was surprised how much the quilting patterns augmented the quilt tops. What Cath is doing here is truly an art.
It’s clear that you work well together and had similar visions for the work to be done. The fact that your outfits matched (or at least appeared to do so on my iPad) was a fun representation of that. I’m sure it wasn’t planned. Just a happy coincidence.
Kath, thank you for sharing your work space and lovely quilting designs. Kate is so pleased with the quilting designs on her mother's quilts. I'm glad that you enjoyed doing that for her. Take care and I'm hoping that you can get through all of the Christmas quilting in time to rest a bit before the BIG day!
Kate, it was good to see how pleased you were with the quilting on your Mother's quilts. I'm sure that your family will appreciate having these rememberances of their grandmother. Take care!
Thanks very much I will try and have a couple of weeks off from quilting to spend time with my family over Christmas
They are all so beautiful, Cath you are a true artist 🧑🎨
Those quilts are simply amazing!! WOW!!!!
I simply adore all the lovely quilts. I love the fact that you have used white a lot as backing. So special for me to see. Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful. Your mum's piecing and Cath's quilting are gorgeous.
Kate, you have certainly carried on your mum's talent. She would be so proud of you and Cath's quilting. If I didn't live in the U.S. I would certainly have Cath quilt my quilts.😊
Aww thanks
Log Cabin is my favorite!! Glad you were able to get them all quilted.
Perfect quilting!
Wow that quilting by Cath is just stunning. I love the idea that you can reverse the quilt and you have another equally stunning quilt. Thank you so much for sharing Kate. Cath you are an extraordinary long arm quilter, have fun with your new toy. Guida
Thanks very much for your kind comment
What a difference the quilting makes to the quilts. They are really beautiful individually. Im glad I wont have to make a choice as to which one.
Really hope the family get the ones you think they will like.
Kate, wouldn’t it be so much fun to pass the quilts along the lime green sofa and let all of us help with the binding? It happens to be one of my favorite tasks, binding. Really. I can’t imagine I’m the only one. The quilts are so beautiful. Your family will surely cherish them. ❤️
what a great idea! I'll take my time and fit the task in between other projects - but it's going to be a while before they are finished! xxx
It’s like looking through your Mum’s jewelry box, each one a treasure, but a quilt can hug you back!
At the same instant you said "binding!" I said, "She'll be binding from now on!" Cath made fantastic choices with the stitching designs. Perfect density! Loved seeing your quilts transformed into a valued heirlooms. Thank you for sharing your experience with Cath.
All quilts are so beautiful ❤ love to see your enthusiasm Cath. You 2 really made my day. Take care!
Thanks so much I love my job!
Absolutely wonderful what a legacy to ur mum kate
your mom's quilts came out beautiful Kate - very lovely
- you look and sound wonderful - be well xx
Thanks for sharing a wonderful memory of your dear mum.. xx
It never ceases to amaze me to see the transformation quilts take once Cath had added her magic! Plus, what a lovely thing for everyone in your family to have - a handmade hug from your mum... I can think of nothing nicer... :) xxx
Thanks very much, quilty hugs are the best!
@@cathbrough601 Oh absolutely! I loved the designs you selected, they work so well with each quilt! xxx
I’m a quilter and it warms my heart immensely to see you finishing your Mom’s quilts!! They will be cherished for years and you had the most influence in the process!! Kate, you are a gem!!❤️
Enjoyed this so much! The entire process has been wonderful to watch. My mother was a quilter right up until the time she passed at 86. She left me a dozen lap quilt sized tops to quilt as well as 4 very large ones. All was done by hand and I hope to finish them by hand as well. You inspire me, Kate. Thanks!
I think that YOU should have the first choice of your Mum's quilts! You are the daughter, and you did all the work in the finishing of these quilts . . . and your Mum means more to you than to anyone else!
I am moved to tears that your mother's hard work and creativity is seeing completion and will be gifted to family members. Thanks for sharing all this with us, Kate!
The joy of sharing around the world through the internet! I love your channel! My husband is an artist and photographer, he has cancer and is struggling to recover from the effects of chemo, especially neuropathy. For many months he has been unable to make glass beads. I showed him your video with Phillippa and he is, as I write this, in his studio learning to fuse glass. Thank you for sharing your corner of the world and thank you to Phillippa for her demonstration!
oh wow! that is so great! I'm sure he'll love it! xxx
Cath is so talented, she picked exactly what the quilt tops needed. Beautiful!
O that last quilt 🤩🤩🤩 with the jewel tone colors and white, I am swooning over it 😍😍
Lovely quilts and Cath has a wonderful laugh.
Kate my package just arrived here in Seattle, I’m so happy.
Kate, As a 3rd generation quilter myself watching you look over your mum’s quilts brings tears to my eyes. I miss my grandma and mom whenever I have questions or am seeking advice on a project. I smiled from ear to ear when you said you had to make one square on the string pieced quilt, as I also found completed squares for a brightly colored string pieced quilt among my moms quilts, needing one more square finished! How funny that is! Watching your videos is the last thing I do at the end of my day when the house is quiet. I so wish to share a cup with you and help you bind, bind, bind. It is truly the most favorite part of every quilt I make! Thanks for sharing your time with all of us watchers. You bring much joy. Carolyn
such lovely memories xxx
Kate your mum's quilts are just beautiful!!! Thank you for taking us along with you!!!!Good to see you up and going out more Kate look after yourself! Hugs Liz x
Oh Kate Mum’s quilts turned out beautiful from beginning to end. A job well done by all three of you. The family is very fortunate to have someone like you to put it all together so warm heartedly and with so much love and caring. Take care Kate and stay blessed. Lots of love.
All are JUST fabulous! Both of you are so very Talented ! In our family, great, great , great , grandmother, aunts and mother all quilted by hand giving me a 1st hand appreciation. Thank you for these beautiful quilts - don't forget to put one of grandmas on Agnes bed. Happy holidays
Hello from Central Scotland, I have just finished my first quilt yesterday with the binding on and what a difference it makes putting the binding on. I made this double bed disappearing 9 patch for my 6 yr old grandson, who has autism like his uncle and great uncle before him, as i wanted him to be able to get a granny hug from me whenever he needed it. I made it with his favourite characters on the material of Toy Story which he will get at Christmas. Seeing your mum's work at such a vintage age, it is absolutely wonderful and when bound i hope that each person that chooses one will cherish their hug from a special lady. Please show us the finished quilts although i know that binding them by hand will take quite a wee while. Thank you for sharing such a special lady's handiwork with us. Sending crafty hugs from Norah, Glenochil Village, Central Scotland
Such beautiful treasure. 🧵
Cath picked out the most perfect patterns for each quilt and the perfect threads as well. You have to be tickled pink in the end results of your mom's quilts. She is for sure good at what she does and each quilt has just the right amount of stitching in just the right places.
Thanks I love choosing designs to suit!
You must keep the square full of color one! But the log cabin is beautiful also!!! Your family is so fortunate to have you finish these for them...how lovely!! I have scads of crocheted doilies all over my home from my mom but no quilts....I love watching you hand make yours and I'm thinking a machine one so we will see!!!! Love all your videos.
How lovely to see your mother's quilts come to fruition. Reaching back into the creativity of our predecessors is very grounding, loving, and somehow reassuring. Thank you for sharing the love. Cath's instincts and knowledge, and care for quilts is just amazing as well. it's great that you two got together!-Sally from MO-USA
Wonderful treasures of your Moms.. absolutely beautiful workmanship Cath,,
Oh Kate...didn't Cath do a great job...and wouldn't your mum be so pleased and happy with the quilts...just lovely.
Thanks very much
Oh they are all so lovely. Cath is very talented and friendly. I wish her the best with her new machine. Thank you Kate. I can’t wait to see who picks what quilt. Blessings.💗💗💗💗
Wow! She got those quilts done VERY quickly! Very impressive. I also love her choice of quilting patterns. Every one matched the quilt top designs perfectly. 😊😊 Great job, Cath!
Such a delight to watch you experience each quilt... magical.
I feel the love you convey!!! Brilliant video to all three of you Ladies!!!
"You three" did a beautiful job.
What a beautiful treasure you have! So happy for you!!
So beautiful!!
What a wonderful thing to do for your family. Your mum made them, they came to you and now you will be giving them to the next family members. Wonderful:)
I would offer to help bind your Mum’s quilts but I am sure you will enjoy doing it and treasure every minute!! Hand binding is my favorite part of the entire quilting process. They were all beautiful. Thank you for sharing.❤️🪡🧵❤️
Cath’s work is brilliant. Highly recommend her. So nice to have these projects that are a joint effort between your mum, you and Cath. Each of you putting your own special talents into them!
Thanks very much
@@cathbrough601 The new machine sounds really exciting! I used to work with multi-head machines, and can well recall the anticipation of a new machine and its capabilities! The work that you have done for Kate is stunning, and there’s obviously been a lot of thought and love gone into each project. Thank you!
What a beautiful job Cath did on the gorgeous quilts!!!! Your family will be thrilled to receive such a special gift. ❤️❤️ It will be cherished for years to come.
🥰💕Ohhhh I’m speechless they are priceless! Mom is smiling upon you. She’s so proud of you! 🥰💕😇
I am astounded by all of the beautiful quilts! Growing up I helped my mom put quilts in the frame. She would quilt for others as a source of income AND some for gifts. She has done a wide range of quilts including a traditional log cabin. I mostly do small projects and panels but after seeing all these creations I am finding myself wanting to step out of the boat so to speak and make a quilt.BUT, what will it be?? I won't know til it comes to me.
I want to say that this is one of my favorites to watch again. Reminds me of the times when my mom and I would go through her quilt tops and have a look at all her hard work. Thank you for sharing and good health to you. ❤
What an amazing assortment of mums quilts. You all are so talented🌷
Wow, the quilting has transformed the quilts, they are all so beautiful. I’m looking forward to seeing who picks which quilt.
The one with piecing on the back , phenomenal ! Emmmmm! Love it!
Delighted to see the finished quilts - Cath did a great job!
Cath is amazing, isn’t she? How beautiful is your mother’s work!!!
Oh this was such a JOY!!! I loved hearing Cath's thought/design process for each piece....and how lovely for her to witness your delight with her work. And how fabulous for us to have a good nosey in another beautiful workshop. Oh my goodness, as each one came out I squealed 'oooh, that's GORGEOUS'! Aww, quilty hugs....perfect. Such a lovely video, thank you all.
As a quilter ( on regular sewing machine ) I loved seeing the quilts and close up of the quilting. What a nice memory of your moms to have. Thanks for showing❤️
Such a skilled woman , Cath has such a good eye which combines with her experience in these finished quilts.. Until I watched this I didn't appreciate how the quilting could make or break a project. Thank you both for sharing this whole process.
BTW, I want to mention how much I have enjoyed turning the pages of this year's calendar. It has been a treat.
thank you - the calendar for 2-22 has had a makeover and is the best yet I think thanks to Anna! xxx
Thanks very much I strongly believe the right design can enhance and not overwhelm
Wow!!!!!! They turned out so beautifully, great work Cath.
Always love seeing a craftsman in their studio it’s fascinating. Such a lovely phrase “a quilty hug “ thanks for sharing 🤗
I love the second one! The deep, rich colors are royal and very masculine. I would buy that if you were selling them. The family member that gets that one is very lucky! Beautiful!
hi Dwayne - I think my brother is going to enjoy that one! nice to hear from you xxx
Stunning. Absolutely stunning. I can't believe how quickly Cath got these done. I didn't expect to see them finished until next year. Great job Cath.
Thanks so much
Cath's quilt is loving to me! Love her choices if colors and design- its beautiful !1❤😊
What an enormous amount of work she did! Beautiful!
I love how you both are wearing the same colors! Beautiful quilts!
Wonderful to have so many lovely quilts from your Mom.
I love how you can see the quilting so well on the plain backs! I wish I lived near you - I love binding, it would be my dream to sit and chat and sew with you.
OH! MY! The quilts are utterly gorgeous! They were very very pretty before the quilting but they’ve been transformed! What treasures.🦌💌🎄🐑🙏🧶
I love Kath's laugh.
Really enjoyed this visit with you and Cath.
It will be Lovely to have all of your Mom's labours of Love completed.
Cath ! What an artist! Special quilting, even though the machine quits the human must set them correctly, from here it looks great! God Bless Her!
Thanks so much that is very kind
Oh that was lovely. Your mum has left a wonderful legacy for her family to remember her by. 😀
So lovely to see your mother’s beautiful quilts brought to life by Cath’s quilting. Cath picked such beautiful complimentary designs and thread choices. The recipients are very lucky people!
So much fun! It’s like opening gifts! Each one is a treasure!
What can you say but love, love, love.
wow
Love them all and I agree, Cath MUST come to The Last Homely House!!!!
What brilliant heirloom legacy from your beloved Mum 💜
What beautiful work Cath does. Your quilts are exquisite. That style quilting makes a 2 for quilt. The backs are as beautiful as the tops. You can turn to the white side for summer. Thanks for sharing this video Kate. Have a Blessed day.
I am not a quilter - I am a knitter and a sewer (?) sewist (?). However, I have loved watching the progress with your mum's quilts. This has been fascinating. Thank you Kate.
Like Cath I can't come up with a favourite. They are all beautiful.
Oh my goodness what a talent all you Ladies are.❤
Beautiful beautiful quilts and quilted beautiful. Everyone will love them
Wow! Wow! Wow!🦌💌❤️❤️❤️
