If you sew carefully ON the drawn diagonal line on the 5 inch paired squares, trim off the two smaller triangles 1/4 inch from seam, open and press the large half-square triangle, you will have a 5 inch HST. Take this five inch HST and cut it into four 2 1/2" squares. You will get two 2 1/2" HST's plus one background 2 1/2" square and one 2 1/2" colored square. [The cut away triangles from the first seam can be used for another block or sew together to make an HST and trim to 2 1/2". This gives you more HST's useable for this project (less wasted fabric.)]
I love the way ypu so calmly explain the steps , pointers and tips. No rush. I love that i do not have to do a back and forth while watching the video💗
I AM SOOOOOO VERY GLAD TO SEE YOU BACK TO THE QUILTING PART OF YOUR CHANNEL.. I HAVE MISSED YOU SHOWING HOW TO DO QUILTING; HOPE THAT YOU WILL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FOR QUILTING... LOVE YOUR QUILTING VIDEOS AN MISSED THEM GREATLY FRANKI ❣❣❣
This choice of fabric is so perfect for these blocks, I love it!! Also THANK YOU for showing such a fantastic way to cut precise pieces from precuts!! I have never thought of doing it that way but I don't normally use precuts. You are one of my faves on YT because of your well thought out techniques, tricks, and to the point construction! Thanks Laura!! Also since you are a Bernina ambassador can you please discuss some great ways to use our different feet and other tips and tricks you might have in your private stash?? There are so many of us out here with Berninas!! Thanks!!
Measuring that way is brilliant, Laura! It definitely ensures accuracy, and you don't have to cut off all those little points (what a mess that can be)!
Adorable little quilt! I have a love/hate relationship with precuts because of those little pinked edges….I REALLY dislike them! ( I would have said HATE but it’s Valentine’s Day and I need to be nice!)😉. Thanks for the tute, you always make my day!
I recently found some charm packs and layer cakes in my stash. I have veered away from them for two reasons; one reason is cost, the second is the pinked edges. I measured from the sewn line as you recommended and was very pleased with the accuracy. Thanks for the tip!
So so pretty! I have the feeling I'll be making a few crib quilts in the near future and this pattern will be perfect for at least one of them. Thank you so much for sharing these techniques with your fans!
You are such a great teacher---clear, well-thought out instruction! And I love charm packs, so it's great to see a lovely pattern idea I can use ASAP. Thank you!
I love the quilt it is absolutely beautiful, what is the white background fabric you used and where can I purchase it, if it still is available. Thank you.
I’m looking at this again and I’m determined to make this quilt. Beautiful colors, I’ve used my very similar colors on another quilt so have to fine some othered. I will.
Very cute Laura! It would make such a darling baby quilt. Thanks for the tip to line up 2-1/4" from sewing line to get 2-1/2" piece. I wish all charm packs were 'generously' cut. I'm working with a line right now and unfortunately that's not the case. I hate those pinked edges!
This is sooooo pretty! I hv a layer cake of this fabric, slated for a different (much simpler) pattern. But now I know it will be as pretty as I thought it wd be! 🌷
I have been sewing for years but I have always avoided pinked-edge fabric. Why did it never dawn on me to measure from the sewn seam and not the edge? What a game changer. Thanks for demonstrating!
Good morning ,can you please make a video on how to make a easy bouffant cap. Your videos are beginner, easy videos someone that doesn’t have a lot of sewing skills can understand what to do. Thank you so much and continue the great videos.
I appreciate it when someone shows blocks made with precuts and scrap fabrics rather than yardage. Thank you!

@@susanmadden2455 I agree! 😊
Beautiful ❤
I, too, would like a written pattern. Is there one? This is such a beautiful quilt, and I would love to make one.
What an excellent tip regarding the pinked edges, thank you

I’m not a pink person but I have to say your quilt is absolutely lovely. I think that quilt would brighten up any room. Thank you
I love that fabric line - such a pretty pink. You could also do this with a Layer Cake (with a few mathematical adjustments) for a bigger size quilt 😊
Cute little quilt. I like both blocks, alone or together. Thank you for the video 😊👍💕. Happy Valentine's Day 💝

I really love this! I’m not sure I could actually tackle it but it is lovely! ❤
Beautiful little quilt Laura! Thank you💕🧵
This 9:45. Looks like ‘Sisters Choice.’ Beautiful! And the line favors Breast cancer awareness? I believe. Also beautiful.
Very pretty quilt! Thank you for sharing!🤗
Pretty! I really like your 4 patch technique. I'm working with pinked edges, and they aren't true 5-inch squares. This solves my problem.
