There are currently two major drawbacks to the mac which will prevent me from switching for the foreseeable future.
The first is lack of upgradability. If the battery breaks, storage fills up, or you want to increase your ram capacity you are either shit out of luck or cough up your wallet to the "genius" bar.
The second is lack of NVIDIA GPUs. M1 chips are impressive, but for gaming, 3d rendering, video editing, or any other media creation task CUDA, Tensor, and RTX cores beat out the competition. Sure Apple engineered Final Cut to run fast on their own computers, but the vast majority of post production work is done in AVID or Premiere and GPU acceleration is key. On the 3D rendering side you can get near real time renders with Blender Cycles, Redshift, Octane, and Arnold GPU with consumer grade GPUs now. Apple is completely behind on this. The day I see Nvidia GPUs return to macs is the day I will reconsider.
I like mac OS, I like the battery life, and I like the better quality of life. However at the end of the day what really matters for me is whether the machine can save me time so I went with the Razer. For context I work in the Visual Effects and animation industry.

i think everyone is overlooking the fact that, if youre gonna game dont even think about a macbook. also the older cpu thing, it really doesnt matter i had a laptop with a 7th gen i7 and it works great with all the software i use for school which would be in my case, Maya, photoshop, Ae and Illustrator mostly. it even only has a 1660ti which imo games just great for what i play (csgo, shadow of mordor. and games of sort) if i want to play more graphically intense game i got a gaming rig that i can game on, but while im out of state or travelling my laptop does it great. end of the day the latest doesnt always mean the greatest, it depends on if u need it, i had extra money laying around and so for better built quality i upgraded to the 10th gen i7 with the 1660ti razer blade and its good! its great! the battery is better and so is the trackpad. other than that i noticed no difference rendering in maya or exporting in Ae. Like i said, latest doesnt always mean the greatest, if u have extra money laying around then go for it! otherwise buy what u need, i personally could never go for a mac cuz i love to game just too much.

@@Andre_ASG you gotta get a windows machine bro. Even if you go through all the problems with installing windows on a mac through a virtual machine its not gonna give u as good a performance either. Also the M1 requires OS optimization if u were to make a partition and install windows on it, though possible, wouldn't run right, it would be as good as a windows Ultrabook. End of the day u need a dedicated graphics card for a good gaming experience. Not to mention having to choose a boot system everytime i boot up.

I usually really enjoy your videos and look forward to each new post. Although to me this video is a terrible comparison. A dedicated game / desktop replacement system that can chew through just about any modern AAA game and your comparing it to an M1 mac that can play a 15 year old game of wow vanilla. These 2 systems have 2 very different design criteria, and both excel in the application they are designed for, the M1 is no joke in it's environment. The RB with a dedicated 30 series GPU is a mobile gamers wet dream. User upgradeable WIFI, RAM and NVME drives vs the apple get what I give you philosophy. Also due to the fact the RB has upgradeable parts you can easily swap out the intel wifi, install a Dell DW 1830 or 1560 wifi card hackintosh the RB and have a fully functional mac book pro-ish system. These RB systems have grown a decent following in the hackintosh scene and make extremely stable hacks. Also how many monitors can you plug into the RB and not be limited to dongles and other issues. A standard 60 hz screen vs a high refresh screen low latency screen. This comparison to anyone that has used both system for their intended audiences must be asking "why would you compare these 2 particular systems". Yes I own an RB advanced with 2080 super, I also own an M1 mac mini, and a 16" MBP. These units should not be compared to each other, at all. Fire up that M1 and use bootcamp, or play some crysis or better yet how about some Cyberpunk 2077. Crank up that DLSS and connect to an external ultra wide high refresh rate screen. Oh, I forgot we can't do any of that on the M1 with out significant limitations, and some not at all. These systems have 2 completely different user profiles.

@@justinbaker6406 while that is a fair comparison you also need to take into account that they are both within the same price range. This comparison was more of seeing how much performance you can get at a similar entry price point. These 2 laptops are both seen as being “top of the line” for their respective brands. Saying that you cant compare them based on user profiles is like saying you cant compare the performance an electric car to a standard gas power car because they run on different engine types.

If it can double the performance of the M1 as it's leaked to do, it'll crush every single other laptop CPU, be up there with a 3060/3070 GPU, with 32GB of unified memory etc. 20-25 hours of battery, a single fan, the best trackpad/keyboard in the industry with the best OS. I've personally bought HP Omen 15 2020 this year, and dang, 8 cores, RTX2060, yes it's a bit thicker than the Razer Blade, but the cooling is just spectacular, everything runs on the highest clocks, plus it costs cheaper than both of those and has strict design.
Cinebench 23 multi core score - 10152, if you need a powerful machine just don't buy a razer blade, it's too much to trade almost 50% of performance for a bit better design, in my opinion.

Windows 10 now feels clunky to me, the trackpad on the Razer I thought was great to me now is like a 7 year old installed it and put it into the machine. Windows 10 clunkiness and blah compared to the smoothness and amazing M1 experience, I mean it is like night and day the difference between clunky Windows 10 and all the crap to a professional MacOS with the M1 buttery smoothness. I'm windows user & the choice is easy, just choose Apple M chips!
What is the use of multi thread test when M chips are fater than everyone? The M is an ARM architecture!!
The power of the current Apple M1 is not fully revealed because most of apps & AAA games don't support it! Just wait for it to be supported to be amazed!! I wish the success only to Apple ARM chips because they deserve it. They will help us pulling us fromt he nvdia & intel greed swamp! Nvida, intel & windows producing slow advancement tech with compatability issues products for insane price. Nvidia & intel are the reason I hated my MacBook Pro & switch back to windows!
I'm grateful to God to live & see this chip exist! This Apple M chips moments is actually as the moment as first iPhone released!
I'm pretty sure not only me going to change to MacBook Pro later this year when MBP reveals the beast inside, most of the people are If the PC industry not going to cach the ARM PC version race!
    About storage:
I would suggest to buy the smallest internal ssd & use it only for OS & apps & buy a thunderbolt flash drive for production, same to gaming buy a thunderbolt flash drive for gaming, & so on! 2.5" external storage is physically big & it will take a lot of space for many projects & uses & think using as an external storage is a tech going to die soon. Flash drives are the future, so small & available with big capacities!
    About ports:
The charging port need to get back to benefit from the usb c thunderbolt ports. From now & on should be usb c thunderbolt & it should have been before. The usb c thunderbolt oort should be at least 4 ports, at least for the PC/laptops with 14" & above!
This usb c thunderbolt is so amazing that when you plugin external monitor that supports usb c thunderbolt you can plug to that monitor the mouse, K/B & the headset!!

You can say all Window's ultrabooks are that, they are not meant for intensive apps. The fact an MB Air can perform much better CPU-wise than Intel Ultrabooks means even if you are correct, it is still the better choice. Of course, in reality, the Razer Blade 15 will be competing with the 16-core Macbook Pro 16 when that arrives in a few months and that is the proper comparison. I expect the MB Pro 16 to make this Razer Blade look very slow and can only hope the next-gen Intel 45-watt arriving at a similar time can close the gap. Tests on the 35-watt variant are not promising so I suspect anyone in the creator space will easily choose the Macbook Pro 16.
