  • Installing Ubuntu Linux on a PC or laptop using a USB drive is a straightforward process. Here are the steps you can follow:
    Download the Ubuntu ISO Image:
    Visit the official Ubuntu website and download the Ubuntu ISO image. Save it to a memorable location on your computer.
    Create a Bootable USB Stick:
    To create the installation media, you’ll need to write the downloaded ISO to a USB stick. Use tools like balenaEtcher, Rufus, or Ventoy.
    Select the ISO file and the destination USB drive, then create the bootable USB stick.
    Boot from the USB Flash Drive:
    Insert the USB flash drive into your PC or laptop.
    Restart the device and let it recognize the installation media.
    If needed, press F12 (or another key) during startup to access the system-specific boot menu.
    Choose the language, accessibility settings, keyboard layout, and network connection.
    Install Ubuntu:
    You’ll be given the option to try Ubuntu or install it. Click “Install” to proceed.
    Follow the prompts to set up your location, login details, and installation type (alongside or instead of an existing OS).
    Once installed, reboot your system.
    Don’t Forget to Update!:
    After installation, update Ubuntu to ensure you have the latest software and security patches.

      No. If you still want to retain Windows then don't follow the last part about removing Windows.

    Why use Etcher when you can just copy it over to the Flashdrive directly

    • @fahadnaveed7516
      @fahadnaveed7516 21 день назад +2

      actually, u cant

    • @Ignitxd
      @Ignitxd 21 день назад

      Doing that only brings the file over, you need the flash drive to be bootable so the install can actually happen.

      You have to use programs for flashing os on usb because if you just copy files from the iso then it would not show up in the boot menu

      I had no success with rufus. Don't know what's the issue but it keeps blinking the cursor for a long period of time and then turned off. I saw an error message prior it presents with the three items menu on which one is Try or Install Ubuntu.
      And the error is Can't find command grub_platform
