    That was the best choreography of a freestyle dressage I have ever seen! The horse was in perfect time to the music all the way through. And the horse stopped at the end at the very moment when the music ended. Totally perfect in my view!!! And Laura knew how perfect it was. Kudos to her and her horse!

    The horse was amazing, the rider left a bit to be desired, but then again, shes the reason why the horse could do what he did. Although she looked a bit stiff and her feet were almost touching the saddlepad at times, which kinda looked ridiculous.
    I honestly love how into it the hirse was, ears up, big movements and very little tail movement, he seemed to like what he did
    However i really enjoyed this, wonderful to watch!

      SpiritWolf but do you understand that the horse is in an extreme amount of pain, metal bits, spurs, hard hands, no give, muscles being strained and pulled. The horses don't do this naturally it is forced. If you were the horse, how would you feel?

    • @coollikegrass2489
      @coollikegrass2489 6 лет назад +1

      Life.In.The.Saddle No it's really not what wild horses do naturally. I've never seen a wild horse do a half pass, or a canter pirouette, or run around with it's head behind the vertical and it's poll tucked. Wild horses don't do these things. You should actually research wild horses.

    • @ggu5297
      @ggu5297 5 лет назад +36

      @@amberp.8279 i know this is an old comment but still. . . if this horse was in "an Extreme amount of pain" it would have its ears back, swish its tail, and play up in other more subtle ways that are hard to pick for an inexperienced person, so mentioning these things is pointless, it would be like explaining things to a rabbit. i don't really like the way this horse was ridden, the rider looks quite rough and jerky, but the horse seems relaxed and comfortable all through the test, no signs of distress. and i cant judge the rider too much as i haven't ridden that horse, he may be a rough ride, some are smooth as silk, some quite bouncy. but i want to assure you, that dressage when done correctly, is not painful for the horse. the bits are only as harsh as the riders hands, while its just sitting in their mouth it doesn't hurt them, a small amount of pressure doesn't hurt them either, its when you yank and jar them that its an issue. spurs are used so the rider can do more accurate ques, they hardly have to touch them, especially at this level. and they don't stain and pull their muscles, they build them up over a long period of time, it takes ages to train a dressage horse for this level of competition, they don't just pull them in completely unfit for this. its the same as building up any muscle, it takes time, and as it gets stronger it gets easier and the level steps up.

      I could not agree more! To say anyone can do it is tripe. I already said even if i won the lottery, I could never aspire to win a Grand Prix. Maybe Medium level and that would be that! If I were born Usain Bolt, maybe I could win the 100metres. It was a superb performance. Such a pity she went away to have multiple kids and gave up at this level. Apart from Hester and Du Jardin, she was better than the other team riders now.competing for team GB. Yes, they are multimillionaires. Their place is to die for. I watched a BBC program and was drooling at the environment. Only Carl Hester's one is better.

    An sich gut geritten, aber leider mit etwas zu viel Druck und mir ist die Reiterin auch etwas zu unruhig..
    Mit jedem mal wo sie so unruhig mit der Hand ist, gibt sie dem Pferd ein Ruck im Maul, was mich etwas stört. Und auch das das Pferd leider etwas eng läuft.

    She's way too hard with her hands, working against him, so it looks very heavy and not as playful and light as it should. She doesn't give him the space he needs for his movements, he's a quite big horse and she seems afraid to let him go a little more foreward. I mean if he wants to run, he will and she couldn't stop him anyways, so there is no reason for trying to pull him back and all the time trying to be in control. And he seems very confident so she doesn't have to be afraid he would spook 😌

      Hi Ali Dost, I can see where you are coming from but do you have to post your opinion if its not nice. Yes she is a bit heavy with hands and her spurs, but you have never ridden that horse so you have no right to judge unless you are her coach. Please if you comment just say something nice like they were always in beat to the song

    • @alidost4126
      @alidost4126 6 лет назад +16

      Kaitlin Goodison Everybody has the right to judge and tell their opinion. Especially if it's about an animal not being treated as good as it should. Constructiv critism should actually help the rider in this case to improve. I didn't say she's doing it on purpose or to hurt the horse, sometimes you don't notice what you're doing wrong in that moment and I don't think talking about these mistakes is wrong at all. I can understand why she was riding like this, it was an exiting event and stuff, but as I said, especially in a case like this it's not wrong to talk about the mistakes which have been done.

    • @kaelyncorun4397
      @kaelyncorun4397 6 лет назад +15

      Ali Dost a rider at this level does not need, nor asked for “constructive criticism” from a youtube commenter. until you have trained 6-7+ years consistently at the Olympic level, or until you have established yourself as world-renowned coach, then that is when you can give this rider “constructive criticism.” you also have never ridden that horse, so there is no way you can adequately judge the needs of the horse through one video. your statement is invalid. period.

    Is anyone else just watching this because it looks neat?
    I don't have a horse, and I have never ridden a horse, but I know a lot about horses, minus the riding.
    I love horses and I would do anything to ride a horse.
    Even if I had a horse, I would never make it to the Olympics. I probably would take much longer to train than anyone else. ◑﹏◐

    Pretty yanky with her hands. Her body was stiff too which makes the horse stiff too. Probably why they didn’t get higher placing

    The ending how proud she was made me cry! She should be proud! Although not perfect it was something 99 percent of riders can’t do! It was technical it was didficult and her and her horse had a good communication!

  • @laurendoerr
    @laurendoerr 6 лет назад +25

    The horse did amazing. The rider not so much. She was very heavy handed and her legs were all over the place and very rarely where they should be at this level of competition. The Lion King is my favorite set of movies but this performance did not do it for me. She should have found different music that would go better with this test.

      In my opinion the horse and the lady worked hard. Im sure u cant train a horse to do that and i bet u dont even ride. Its way harder than it looks for both the lady and the horse. I ride and i know alot about horses and i cant even train a horse to do that.

      How do you think people are supposed to give different leg cues without moving their legs?? And the horse is probably hard in the mouth naturally. Hence needing to give more aids

      Eh I’m not worried about the rider I’m worried of the horses mouth being tugged so hard

      budgielover22 She didnt train the horse. They work with a trainer like any other GP horse. I think at this level, you should have what's called a "seat" and not be flopping around like a beginner. If you knew anything about riding horses, you should know this.
      Megan Dillpickle There are other ways to give a horse cues than the legs you know. And as for the hard mouthed part, you are probably right. From the words of several trainers I know, the horse needs to "pull" on the bit because if it doesn't then it can't connect through the back. Yes that's an actual belief.

    Das Pferd ist wirklich schön!
    Ich finde es auch ganz gut , dass sie ihm mit den Beinen /Füßen gute Hilfen gibt . Ich finde es nur schade , dass sie dabei jedes mal die Sporen so hart benutzt,dass sie mit den Händen im Maul rumzieht und dass er sehr eng läuft . Das würde ich ändern. Aber den Rest fand ich wirklich sehr schön 👍 . Das Pferd läuft sehr schön , wenn sie das mit den Händen /Sporen /rollkur ändert würde es bestimmt harmonischer aussehen 😁

    I hate how in high level dressage the horses are trained to hold their head in (often behind the vertical). It’s been scientifically proven to be harmful to the horse’s trachea (tube from throat to lungs) and the spine. The horse here is super talented but the rider is very tight on the reins. If you train the horse on a lighter hand, then they will respond to more subtle signals.

      Rosie.is_my.life123 I have been ridding for 6 years. I certainly don't know everything, However a horses neck is not naturally supposed to bend that way (for that long, stallions do it for short periods of time but their head is not pulled down and they have the option to move back) and their has been many studies along with basic bone and ligiment structure that show how harmful the overbending on the neck can be (rolkur). Not to mention when she cues him she uses her entire upper body to pull on the reins. No hate on you or the rider. I am just sticking up for the horse. A double bridle with the amount of pressure she is using to keep his neck flexed can't feel too great either (I am sure he's treated great however riding like this is not comfortable. This is seen in most dressage events) Again, no hate on the rider or her accomplishments, I just hate seeing a horse ridden in this way.

    Also mir persönlich gefällt der Sporeneinsatz kein bisschen. Es sieht rabiat, sehr heftig und etwas willkürlich für mich aus. Die Sporen scheinen mehr zu piken, als dass die Hilfen dadurch verfeinert werden und ihr Bein ist mir zu unruhig. Außerdem sieht es für mich stellenweise so aus, als würde sie ihm mit ihrer Hand einen Ruck aufs Maul geben... aber das Pferd scheint zufrieden zu sein, der Schweif pendelt meistens von rechts nach links, wie es sein soll... also ist der wichtigste Part eines Reiterpaares allem Anschein nach sehr zufrieden mit sich und seiner Reiterin ^^

    An sich eine schöne Kür, aber die Reiterin hat so eine harte bzw unruhige Hand, echt unschön, das arme Pferd bekommt ständig ein Ruck ins Maul. Generell sieht es so aus als würde sie sich an den Zügel n festhalten, kein schöner Sitz, sieht nicht harmonisch aus eher nach einem Kraftaufwand für beide Seiten!
