Anyone remember watching this saying "Who do you recon will be playing The Queen?" Then getting completely blown away when she turned and we all saw it was actually Her Majesty The Queen herself.
I saw a video of Queen Margrethe of Denmark describing her reaction. She has been to Buckingham Palace a few times, and recognised that they were walking into Queen Elizabeth’s study. She was thinking ‘is she going to appear’. Then when they went into the study she became certain the Queen was going to be in the clip and her delight when she saw the Queen, and said ‘It is. Hardly that surprising. She is the Queen of England, and the games were taking place in her country. She would do all she could to promote them and make sure they had a big impact.

The Queen herself was the hostage, accompanied by one of her bodyguards. The team ran through the training with live rounds ( as in actual bullets). At the end, the Bodyguard was ducking behind cover, while the Queen just sat there, calmly, drinking her tea. Queens great under pressure.
This is the first thing that came up to my mind after hearing the devastating news of her majesty’s passing. She was such a down to earth and adorable woman. It’s such an immense loss for the world. May she rest in heaven’s glory.
I met her when I was in the RAF. She spoke to me as an equal, with no airs and graces and asked a direct question about my job, I fumbled the answer so she asked it again but with no malice. She was genuinely interested and acutely aware of what her Military provided. Having finnaly answered she gave me a smile, a nod, and moved on to ask another direct question to someone else. She was well briefed and well trained. Her personality did the rest. She is a sad loss.
While I don’t treasure the royal family too much, Elizabeth was an extraordinarily passionate and devoted monarch. I live in a small community on Canadas smallest province, PEI, and she visited our town during one of her trips to Canada. She was incredibly knowledgable about the Island, and had been many times. Apparently she and Philip were particularly fond of their trips here. Indeed a sad loss, she was a once in a lifetime figure.
I went for her 70th Jubilee to London. Hoping against all odds to get a glimpse of her. Even put a bid in for the full dress changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace...no luck on either. I think she was not up to much seeing the crowds in even a escorted car. But even being in her backyard was grand. I'll miss her always. Along with the 1st Elizabeth, she was the greatest Monarch England has ever had.
@@jamesfreeman2258 Really just those two? What about Queen Victoria, Henry V, Edward III, , Richard the Lionheart, William the Conqueror, Alfred the Great? I would say Alfred and Edward III did more to protect England than Elizabeth I did, the policies she passed were important, but it was mostly the merchants and sailors(such as Sir Francis Drake) combined with storms in the English Channel that protected England and led them through economic prosperity. Any other Protestant, rational and long reigning monarch could have done the same thing as her, which can be said about most of them. My point is that all it requires is to have the same amount of influence, quick-wittedness, shrewdness and similar ideals for a monarch to achieve the same accomplishments as someone else and therefore you cannot just claim one of them is best without clarification.
Fun fact: HM ignoring Daniel Craig wasn't part of the script, that moment of awkward silence and him coughing was real and she was improvising. Queen was acting 👌🏼👑

Yeah, only the stuntwoman in the helicopter wasn't her. That really was Queen Elizabeth and Daniel Criag (and her corgis) in the palace. I was amazed to hear she agreed to this. But she had lived through all the Bonds. They fought for England in her name. Edit as of 9/8/22: She will be missed
As an American, I think the London 2012 opening ceremony was probably the most memorable of my lifetime. The best thing about it was the fact that they didn't go for excessive flash or try to 'one up' any of the previous olympics. Instead they just decided to be unapologetically British...and it worked.

I remember sitting on my couch watching with my family. There was a momentary gasp that went around the room and then we just burst out laughing. Less than 10 years prior I don't think Her Majesty would have agreed to this. However, she has learned to keep the Royals relevant in the modern era by adapting to the public. By becoming a Bond girl for an evening and having a double hurl themselves out of the Royal heli. What a moment this was. Perhaps the only moment that comes close is the Prime Minster of Japan as Mario. But even then, it doesn't reach this greatness.
I think I recall that the stunt double(s) landed right on the mark in the middle of the stadium. Security descended upon her, helping her get out of her harness and escorting her into a tunnel, then she emerges from her box. But I can't find clips that support it.
The fact she asked to be included in this for the Olympics and kept it a secret from her family shows just what an amazing woman she was. Timing was spot on!
Word was that HM was asked to be part of this and only consented if she were allowed a speaking part. Word is also that the family did NOT know of her participation in this video and there were gasps as the kids and grandkids said something to the effect of "that's REALLY Mun/Granny".
That does not surprise me, as is the reputed insistence on a speaking part. Do note that HMTQ looks very relaxed walking along the corridor, while the men accompanying her are not so relaxed. What it is to be The Queen!!

What's even better is that they used a look-a-like in every rehearsal, and when it was time to do the final filming the Queen herself took the position, and Daniel Craig didn't know the real queen was going to be there until he was staring at her in the face. The nervous look on his face, and the little coy smile the Queen gave after she says "Good Evening, Mr Bond" are 100% genuine.

Anyone remember watching this saying "Who do you recon will be playing The Queen?"
Then getting completely blown away when she turned and we all saw it was actually Her Majesty The Queen herself.
It is her’
The queen is pop!!
I knew that the member of staff greeting Daniel Craig is a senior page to The Queen and that the location was genuinely Buckingham Palace. I remember thinking that the person playing The Queen was an amazing double so was completely blown away when the 'double' turned round to greet Daniel Craig and it was the actual Queen!

And this flashed in my mind too after the sad news
I met her when I was in the RAF. She spoke to me as an equal, with no airs and graces and asked a direct question about my job, I fumbled the answer so she asked it again but with no malice. She was genuinely interested and acutely aware of what her Military provided. Having finnaly answered she gave me a smile, a nod, and moved on to ask another direct question to someone else. She was well briefed and well trained. Her personality did the rest. She is a sad loss.
Treasure that mate meeting the queen is a tremendous honour
While I don’t treasure the royal family too much, Elizabeth was an extraordinarily passionate and devoted monarch. I live in a small community on Canadas smallest province, PEI, and she visited our town during one of her trips to Canada. She was incredibly knowledgable about the Island, and had been many times. Apparently she and Philip were particularly fond of their trips here. Indeed a sad loss, she was a once in a lifetime figure.
Thanks for sharing! Beautiful!

The Olympics : Hold my tea cup
Best comment ever 😂😂😂👍
That’s only in the south of the Uk the north however is different than that
The Olympics actually said :Hold my torch
Do you believe the Her Majesty was thrilled to become a Bond Girl. I think she was.
Dr
@@richardwicks4190 correct me if I’m wrong , but there’s not exactly her fault, like she can’t help that. What exactly do you want her to do ?
@@lucyjacob71 I replied to you at length, my post was censored.
Definitely 😁
@@richardwicks4190 She’s not descended from Elizabeth Tudor, she’s descended from Mary Stuart, whom ET had executed. She does have some Moroccan ancestry, but contrary to your apparent belief not all Moroccans are or were criminals or murderers. And Prince Albert helped keep the UK out of war - unlike some recent politicians. Wars cause death, which is a prerequisite for murder to be proved. What were his crimes in your opinion? You are insistent that not one of her forebears was innocent of murder or other crimes, which seems implausible to put it mildly. Have you traced your own lineage back to before the extinction of our Neanderthal ancestors and found everyone unblemished? Or do you just delude yourself that you have?
I tell you what. No matter what you think. When the queen says 'good evening Mr Bond'...chills, literal chills.
Que du bonheur
Her lips didnt even move... so that wasn't even the queen talking
@@reconx86 That's because she's so posh.
Because it's a cold blooded reptile underneath!
Because you know she's addressed the real spooks in there in that way..
For me it’s the smile once she’s entered the arena at the end standing there, everyone clapping. She totally knew how great that would have looked. So iconic
She looks like a boss.
@@MentalParadox she still is the boss, for as much as I’m sure we will get used to Charles being king this woman was our queen and will forever be our queen. Her shoes can’t be filled
DRAWING QUEEN ELIZABETH II | IT'S HERE ON THE CHANNEL!!!!!!!
@@MentalParadox she WAS the Boss.
RIP Your Majesty 🇬🇧
@@indigo8021 the word 'boss' has the connotation of a dictator ...a bully...Shes not like that!
I just love the fact that she played her own role rather than an actress. No one would ever think that she would do something like that because everyone thinks it would be frowned upon by so many & other royal families around the world, but she just didn't care, she done it and it was GREAT. I love the fact that she even wore the same outfit to bring a little bit more authenticity to it. I would have loved to have seen Daniel Craig come out too.
Bond handed Her Majesty over to the head of the Olympic Committee for their grand entrance, then went up to the top of one of the lighting towers with his night-vision binoculars to check for suspicious behaviour.
"suspicious behavior" - that's what she said
Finlay Balfour
The bits that were her were her, but the bits that weren't were two other people.
Illyria86 it wouldn’t surprise me, the queen loves cars almost as much as she loves her horses!
She was more than a Queen! She was a true elegant Lady! I am American, born in1950, so she is the only 🇬🇧British Queen I’ve ever known! Your majesty, you are missed, around the world! RIP!
Did you know that James Bond was created after Elizabeth II became queen in 1952? He has only ever served under *her* majesty's service!
No, I didn't. How cool is this?
OMG I didnt even realized
@@cheriem432 Personnal taskmaster. Pretty cool
interesting!
No one is ever going to beat this entrance.R.I.P Ma'am
Queen Elizabeth will always be the ultimate bond girl
Who’s here after watching Paris 2024 opening ceremony
Yep - I needed reminding of what a proper opening ceremony looked like 😂!
Présentement présent
Meee😂
Me😂
Fxxxing paris
Just imagine James Bond, Hercule Poirot, Sherlock Holmes and Johnny English are all coming together to escort the Queen. It would look so good.
It will be epic until Johnny English blew up everything
Hercule Poirot is Belgian.
Johnny English would have ended up in the following stadium...
🤣🤣🤣
Johnny English playing keyboard on that day
And Harry Potter?
I don’t think I have seen a more brilliant opening to the Olympics. Queen Elizabeth was truly one of a kind. Devoted her whole life representing Great Britain and Commonwealth in positive regal way. She and her husband witnessed so much history first hand.
The *only* thing that would have made it better would have been if she had actually jumped! I know, I know. But it still would have been awesome! I wonder if she considered it, if even for a nanosecond?
@@cheriem432 I think she would've done so had she been younger.
@@Jim-so3zm So do I!
I love the very small and subtle smile the Queen has on her face at the end. She knows that she just made the most EPIC entrance to the Olympics, EVER! 😂👑 RIP
The fact that she agreed to the James Bond stint. She’s simply AMAZING!!!!
Apparently there was a poll at the time asking the countries two most favorite personages. Her Majesty and James Bond.Totally iconic
@@Jadyra - *Poll. (A ‘Pole’ is person from Poland 🇵🇱). Mind you, I suppose it could have been a Pole asking, I know a few Poles!
They said she was absolutely thrilled when she learnt they wanted her to be apart of the opening ceremony
Could have easily been a deepfake.
Apparently she was the one asking Danny Boyle to use her and wanted to appear, was thrilled by the idea. Like a cheeky Great Britain Granny!
I just love her sense of humor. What a great lady to allow them to use her image like this. This is a great memory to have.
Thanks for all the love❤ and support. Seriously blown away by the love from all of you.thank you
You seem to be a really great fan of mine. Where are you from?
Hello how are you doing today?
She's super badass too.
This is not the real Daniel craig right?
As much as I love this, I don't think it's ever not going to bother me that the commentator says 'James, James Bond'
Maybe search for the scene in other country's TV. I can't remember someone speaking over this in German TV.
He only had one job.
@@DemonOfRazgriz and he screwed it up…
How can you mess that up 🤣
I hate the fact the helicopter scenes were filmed in daylight, but it was night at the stadium.
This was far better than this year's performance of France.
France was a disaster. A shame for humanity
