You should seen the reaction from the general public after Vallegro and Charlotte's performance at London 2012. They were OBSESSED bc they'd never seen dressage before, and that test was incredible. Suddenly, everyone wanted to know about the dancing horses 😀
Because it's sickening and cruel to watch. how you like to sit in the stands and watch a horse getting kicked in the gut every three seconds with a pair of spurs? What else could those spurs on the rider be for? If you have a thick piece of metal in your mouth along with a snaffle bit and two sets of reins to have your head yanked up un the most unnatural position...most folks are sickened by this dressage garbage. It's cruel. Punishing equipment is the only thing forcing these horses to do this. Get rid of the spurs on the rider...that thick piece of metal and those two sets of reins and you will see a much different performance when the horses aren't being punished throughout the routine. People should see how they train these horses to do this. Its cruelty at it's worst. These dressage trainers don't want people to see their cruel training methods. How else do you get a horse to trot in place if pain and cruelty are not involved. AND, what are the spurs for anyway? What are the two sets of reins and two nasty bits in their mouths for AND why doesn't the horse have it's ears up.. The animal is supposed to be enjoying all of this...am I wrong???
@@NalaRichenbach ears up has nothing to do with this. horses normally put their ears back when someone rides them, it means they are engaged and focused on the rider.
@@NalaRichenbachyes you are wrong this horses are highly trained and there are people doing these move bridle-less though not to the perfecting standards of international competitions they are not “spuring the horse at every stride” but using it for clarity of communication. That horse is actually dancing. He (she?) knows he dancing and is enjoying it and you can see he has favorite moments in the music. Love watching this. ❤️
One of the better rides I've seen nowedays. THE COLLECTION! At least I see a horse that IS collected. I'm glad. Very much. There is a little stiffness in movements, the horse loses rhythm and impulse in pirouettes, but is moving in a circle and not in something like a figure eight that I see in almost every ride... The curb rein should be loose more time than not, but all in all - a most welcome pleasure to watch after soo many poor quality rides ;)
The reins are not supposed to be loose in dressage, it’s actually riskier for the horse’s safety if it is loose as it would be a snap on it’s mouth to change gaits. Better to keep constant connection. :)
@@DrakonEmpire They were talking about the curb rein, not the snaffle rein, which I agree with. The snaffle rein has constant connection because it's direct contact, but the curb rein gives leverage which should be used sparingly and only on a strong and experience horse. It should NOT have constant contact.
This had me in tears ! Surely it is the epitome’ of dressage to music at its FINEST kudos to whoever mixed the track too ! Just BRILLIANT WORK ALL ROUND
He looks so relaxed especially the horse hardly any rein pressure . Very soft touch whereas you see alot of younger riders are disconnected from their horse.
This horse and rider competition is nothing short of MAJESTIC! Watching the steps of the horse to music is just magic and equally mesmerizing! And the riders posture and performance is perfection personified! It is absolutely astounding to watch, over and over again. I was always worried the horse might accidentally hit that stupid little fence and have points deducted even after I watched it many times!😂 Plus the horses tail was beautiful too! And don't forget the rider TRAINED the horse to be in step and perform to each song and rhythm! Horse and rider were ONE on this performance! They deserved to win the GOLD!
Wow, I'm so excited and impressed. I love that feeling you get when the footwork in the dance is in sync with the beat and I can see the same joy in this horse! Great team, it looks like the rider just sits on it and lets his horse dance alone. 🎉
Wow, that horse was amazing. he was so light on his feet especially since he is obviously a big horse. I have never seen a horse who was moving perfectly spot on to the beat ALL the time ! Kudos to the rider as well. He did some amazing training of this horse.
I love that he isnt jabbing the spurs into the horses sides and using leg pressure and positioning to guide the horse. Absolutely beautiful performance by both
As far as we've been able to work out, the ability to sense and synchronize with a rhythm is very rare in the animal kingdom, and horses aren't in the very small group of animals that can do it. Obviously a horse can still hear music and many horses love it, but probably the beat doesn't stand out to the horse the way it does the rider. Training and the rider's guidance is what keeps the horse matched to the rhythm.
Beautiful demonstration of a wonderful in sync relationship between horse and rider. Those who are whining about the horses head being down, well you obviously know nothing about dressage. This horse is a show boat and knows it!
The horse isn't kept behind the vertical, but rather has the space to move forward. The rider isn't poking the horse, but rather gently giving guidance with his spurs. That's how you teach a horse to dance.
Considering the horse is a gelding, there won’t be any siring going on. However he probably costs more than most peoples houses, so he’ll retire in luxury.
Really amazing control of the horse...I was watching to see what commands were being used to direct the horse and gosh darn you really cant see them. Such a seamless performance. Amazing animal and rider!
What I love about this is you can see that the horse is collecting and extending his gait, not going faster or slower. The leg fall to the music beat remains the same. Explaining extention and collection can be tough as most people think it has to do with speed alone. This gives a great visual!
Now this was a nice performance! Lovely soft rider, amazing horse, beautifully ridden! Most dressage riders are too cruel, heavy handed and ignorant to their poor horses to watch I can rarely finish watching their tests. This on the other hand! Well done to a lovely team.
What a breath of fresh air to see dressage performed with modern/pop/ rave music instead of the usual classical. Congratulations to the horse and rider 👏
That was unbelievably fantastic! I have no issues with saying I’ll never be at this level. Just to see a horse and rider work together that well is a privilege! I also really loved how as soon as they were done and bowed to the judges, the rider just gave his horse all the love! He looked so proud! I’ve felt that way at a MUCH lesser level! How lucky are we to work with these animals as our partners! What a joy!
I don't know much about horses, so beautiful to see no fight in the bit, no drooling to the ground and all over his legs and chest, tongue lolling, or pulling tight on reins. And love that there was no head or leg wraps or weird contraptions all over. Beautiful so natural
its incredible how the rider looks to be doing absolutely nothing but yet is dictating EVERY single movement that the horse does...speed, direction...he's controlling every single part of the horses body, direction, speed and rhythm and you can barely tell. amazing

A beautiful Olympic event that doesn't get nearly enough coverage.
You'd think it would. This is nothing short of brilliance! Its like the rider was dancing through the horses body.
To achieve this level of performance these horses have a lot more buttons then go and whoa a leg moved an inch forward or back means something this is the highest level of equestrian training and you shouldn’t spout of about what you don’t understand
its a crime when the perspective of the extended canter is front view :(
Thankfully we at least got some toe flick action at the extended trot. 😍
Sounds weird but it brings tears how beautiful he dances, how much he enjoys the dance, and how he bops his head
Dressage at its finest, this horse and rider were as one. They hit every beat and sweetened every note. This was a joy to watch.
This is so beautiful, I am crying. I got tingles watching this, if this performance didn't get a medal, it certainly deserved one!
This is so cool. The fact that the horse is in sync with some of the beats and the rider being calm xx
She’s just a girl that likes music. Just because she’s a horse doesn’t mean she’s tone deaf!
@@perduealexandra5736 what
@@perduealexandra5736 i never said she was dea. And whos she?!?!?!
@@Its_Elizabeth it’s whose not whos. By the way. But that’s beside the point. In answer as to who we are talking about, I was talking about the female horse which is why I referred to her as she. Hope that answered your question.
Actually I stand corrected now seeing all notes. Please forgive me correcting you, it was who’s now that I read your sentence. My mistake.
That horse is actually dancing. He (she?) knows he dancing and is enjoying it and you can see he has favorite moments in the music. Love watching this. ❤️
What a performance from horse and rider, 9 minutes ...to remember all the steps and turnings.
Did I ever think I'd hear Safety Dance at the Olympics?
Nope.
But now that I've heard and watched it, this was incredibly perfect.
Bravo!
@@genthespacewitch the point of reins are to have contact.
@@DrakonEmpire by “loose”, they mean loose contact, I believe, which I agree with
@@sunnybunny7053 in dressage, especially higher moves, contact is needed.
Such precision! That horse was on beat the entire time. Simply AMAZING.
Horses are the most amazing animals !horses do get music and rhythm so well that's just superb.
At 6:25 when the beat drops, that horse was so on point and hitting each beat perfectly. Absolutely beautiful. They made it look so effortless
Is no one talking about how perfect that horses tail is??? They had such a lovely test but I found myself just watching the horses tail 😅
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Tails it is!
🙏🏼🌟❤🙏🏼🌟❤🙏🏼🌟❤
I know - it looks, like it was treated strand by strand with a flat iron 😅
could be a fake tail, they're common
@@vee4554 it could be, but it’s beautiful nonetheless. Fake tails are expensive so I hope they would create a result as amazing as this
Because horse's tail is lovely and hes not swishing it in pain. ;)
WOW!! Mopsi Really felt the music and the rhythm ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 💗 You could see she really loved dancing and performing!
Beautiful animal, calm, relaxed. And the rider is completely connected to the horse.
Gorgeous routine.
It is absolutely phenomenal what a horse and his rider can communicate and do together. It really is art in motion.
That was phenomenal. Probably one of the most creative and pleasurable dressage performances I’ve personally ever seen
The horse really did look like he was dancing. And yeah the music helped. But this horse transitions a seamless he's beautiful.
Wow, I'm so excited and impressed. I love that feeling you get when the footwork in the dance is in sync with the beat and I can see the same joy in this horse! Great team, it looks like the rider just sits on it and lets his horse dance alone. 🎉
Absolutely gorgeous! An amazing team and a lovely change of music. Definitely watching this again in the future! Just absolutely incredible!!
I hope they start treating horses as beautiful as they are.
the riders music choice made it more interesting to watch rather than the boring classical music
YESSS thank you for saying that! More riders should choose that type of music because it works so beautifully with a horse’s gaits
FR
I still prefer classical music or more instrumental then this but still interesting
Agreed!! It would be cool to see phonk music, if that’s even allowed
Classical music is not boring
This made me so happy and teary eyed. What joy these two bring!
Nothing wrong with you, this was so touching. That horse really listens to the music. Wonderful.
Wow! Great routine! This horse is phenomenal! A lot of hard work to achieve this level of perfection! He’s skipping! Crossing his legs! Wow!
This is gorgeous , both the rider and the horse did absolutely amazing
Wow, that horse was amazing. he was so light on his feet especially since he is obviously a big horse. I have never seen a horse who was moving perfectly spot on to the beat ALL the time ! Kudos to the rider as well. He did some amazing training of this horse.
What an absolute delight to watch. Seeing this awesome horse and rider performs so harmoniously together made me quite emotional. Beautiful!!! 💖💖
I love that he isnt jabbing the spurs into the horses sides and using leg pressure and positioning to guide the horse.
Absolutely beautiful performance by both
Incredible pair! I can watch this over and over and not get tired of seeing this pair dance so perfectly...
When a dressage horse has better dance moves than you 🥲
Great performance, I was in total awe during the entire performance 👏👏👏
Can't wait to see the duo in an Olympic games *WITH* the crowd
Imagine having such a relationship between horse and rider that these movements can be accomplished seemingly so effortlessly. Beautiful to watch
4:19was such a nice change and the sideways movement was so fluid it was beautiful
That’s my favorite part! You can see the rider smiling. He knows the horse is enjoying every moment! Just amazing.
Absolute perfection. This performance was such a joy to watch. This horse is so musical!
He IS a rave horse, its like a transformation when the music starts. Maybe because the beats are clearer to hear for him?
As far as we've been able to work out, the ability to sense and synchronize with a rhythm is very rare in the animal kingdom, and horses aren't in the very small group of animals that can do it. Obviously a horse can still hear music and many horses love it, but probably the beat doesn't stand out to the horse the way it does the rider. Training and the rider's guidance is what keeps the horse matched to the rhythm.
The rider is telling the horse what to do, when to do it, and for how long.
There are no words to describe this elegant beauty and teamwork
Magnificent from the horse. I just hope & pray this beauty will be in a forever home after all of this, treated with respect & love overflow!!🇮🇪☘
An Olympic level horse will be siring foals to the ends of his days. He’s worth way too much to be abused.
Considering the horse is a gelding, there won’t be any siring going on. However he probably costs more than most peoples houses, so he’ll retire in luxury.
@@JoC-mp6sf he most certainly looks intact to me.
@@winry2357 I looked it up to be sure. He’s a gelding.
@@JoC-mp6sf huh. I wonder what’s growing between his legs then.
What beautiful horsemanship here-amazing! How beautiful and so smooth! Great job!
Absolutely stunning. The muscle control is immense during these moves. Loved it.
Really amazing control of the horse...I was watching to see what commands were being used to direct the horse and gosh darn you really cant see them. Such a seamless performance. Amazing animal and rider!
This is such a subtle and intricate sport and I find it intriguing! Mopsi and rider were both positively excellent!
Prime example of music & routine perfectly matched! Amazing to watch!
Best horse ever! Thats pure skill and dedication
When the rider is a team with his/her horse, the horse loves it! Nicely demonstrated!
The effort that went into that was incredible. Well done the pair of them!
PERFECTION IN MOTION!!!! 🐎🏇🐎🏇🏆🏆🏆 Makes me feel like dancing next to the horse!!!😍
What a joy!
A beautiful Olympic event that doesn't get nearly enough coverage.. That horse was absolutely feeling the groove, both of them are awesome.
Here we go. Now I will be watching dancing horse videos for the next two weeks 😁
I don't know much about horses, so beautiful to see no fight in the bit, no drooling to the ground and all over his legs and chest, tongue lolling, or pulling tight on reins. And love that there was no head or leg wraps or weird contraptions all over. Beautiful so natural
Amazing athletes!!! It is like horse ballet and he is just floating!! Love the music selection!! Bravo! 👍👏💗
Darn I always cry soul out when I watch well done dressage. So beautiful. 🥲
Making it look so easy!!! My goodness what talent these two have.
its incredible how the rider looks to be doing absolutely nothing but yet is dictating EVERY single movement that the horse does...speed, direction...he's controlling every single part of the horses body, direction, speed and rhythm and you can barely tell. amazing
I had no idea of such a sport! This horse is beautiful and so smart. Absolutely breathtaking.
He’s such a beautiful dancer for such a big guy. This was an amazing display of power and grace.
This was incredible! Amazing synchronicity between the rider and the horse! And how do they both remember all the intricate steps?! Just - WOW.🐴🥕🌻
Only the rider needs to remember the order of the steps. Then he tells the horse what to do and when. That horse is amazingly talented!
