I was actually having this conversation yesterday with a guy at work, about how the first iron man film was basically the grandfather of the mcu, and how increasingly well it's aged. Funny coincidences. Also I gave you guys some criticism on how you did the add integration on the last video which you replied to. I know the video would have been made already before my comment last time, but I hope they're done like this more.
Thanks for watching. As we mentioned, different sponsors require different stipulations - we were able to do what you wanted on this occasion. We've got rules to follow that are bespoke for each opportunity. If we transition into them, thats not an attempt on our part to hoodwink anyone - we always feel that were clear on what paid promotions are, and really thats the most we can ever do, they are what they are.
Seeing Endgame Sunday night, probably up to 2am while seats were available. I'm so nervous I don't want to see how it ends. I will legitimately cry if the worst happens to Tony. I don't want to see that >.

Even sans invitation they said they’d add any they got to the playlist. That’s the kinda exposure you can’t buy. As for the video, I’d be interested to see how you see the impact of Iron Man in other Phase 1 movies, outside of the obvious plot structure components. The flavor, the cuts, the color, I wish I could afford to contribute to the Patreon- you guys would easily be my first. Been watching you guys since practically the first Marvel bid. Until then I’ll keep watching and clicking ads! DONT EVER STOP
You know what's another thing that us fans thankful dodged the bullet? Tom Cruise was Marvel's original choice for Iron Man before they went with Favreau's choice being Downey.
The fact that Favereu is currently working on Disney’s Star Wars makes me think that in a few years we’re getting a Star Wars cinematic universe. I mean we already kinda are getting one.
Couple of things that I really enjoyed, as a comic book fan, was the inclusion of Dr Yingsen. They could so easily have left him out of the story, but they didn't. He was integral. Another was the armour. Especially, the scene in Monaco. Loved it.
I do remember when it was announced in 2006. Return of the Kings left its mark in film, the Goblet of Fire and Revenge of the Sith came out the year before, Johnny Depp was killing it in pirates of the Caribbean, with the one film at the time. The marvel films at the time kept coming so another superhero movie wasn't uncommon, but when you first watched Ironman in 2008, you wanted more films like this, which changed the way franchises work. I really like the Mandalorian for its story, and Farveau knows how to tell a story because he loves what he doing while making his work.
If I could change one thing about Marvel’s music, it would be keeping the original score. The other scores are fine but the original by Ramin Djawadi (the composer of Game of Thrones) is just the best.
In all of the mcu since day one theyve always called attention to iron mans right arm. He broke the damn thing in nearly every appearance in the mcu or at least all the biggest and most essential events for iron man and the mcu, not to menton tons and tons of weird moments that call attention to his right arm. I especially love the parallel of him building his first true Iron Man gauntlet and repulsor and putting it on his right hand, only for Iron Man to make the stark-tech guntlet thats also right handed, and then using his right hand to snap thanos and his armies. So cool and unbelievably ompressive. The amount of work effort and dedication this took automatically a classic series of movies that all together create a masterpiece of filmmaking and is an achievement in filmmaking in aa technical way, an emotionally resonant and emotionally satisfying, and of. Course highest grossing movie of all time
I still remember how I was BLOWN AWAY when I was told to stay at the cinema when the credits rolled and saw my first ever postcred scene. I was literally amazed. And I still laugh whenever anyone leaves as the credits start rolling on any Marvel movie :D
When I first watched this movie in 2008, I never could've guessed the empire it would help build; I just remember walking away from the film like, wow that was actually pretty good
I think Iron Man is extremely under appreciated because no one gives it the right credit. To me Iron Man is easily a top 10 comic book film. Iron Man is in my top 5 comic book movies of all time and is my second favorite movie in the MCU only behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
I think it all begins with the animated movies Ultimate Avengers that was the first time people were really introduced to these characters outside of the comic books and thus the beginning of the paving of the road that would lead us to the marvel cinematic universe we know today.
You know what, I'm gonna say it. The Dark Knight < Iron Man IMO There's one thing The Dark Knight doesn't have on its side (for me at least). Nostalgia. A shit load of nostalgia.
It's also unfair to compare Dark knight and Ironman, because Dark knight is sequel of Batman Begins, so it got headstart on Ironman with already established characters like Bruce, Alfred, Gordon, Rachel, etc.
He directed Iron Man 2, which didn't get bad reviews (73% on Rotten Tomatoes is good- just not for the MCU, though it still beats other MCU movies like Incredible Hulk and The Dark World- and was okay for the time when it was released) and was more financially successful than Iron Man (and all other non-Avengers phase 1 MCU movies), but didn't go as well as hoped. Iron Man 2 suffers from the same things Age of Ultron did- too much focus on building up the franchise, setting up future plots, characters, etc. as opposed to just telling a good movie- supposedly because of meddling from the studio. Anyway, Iron Man 2 didn't reach its potential; as a result, Favreau wasn't asked to do Iron Man 3. He was a good sport about it though- not only does he continue to play Happy Hogan, but he is also credited as Executive Producer for all 4 Avengers movies and Iron Man 3.
If you watch this after Endgame, then you know how sad it is that the younger fans won't be able to feel what its like to go from Ironman and ten years later to Endgame. And it was worth it

Welp, Favreau is also using practical effects for The Mandalorian, so, he still stands by that quote
What was he supposed to do? Train a bunch of animals to do things they can never be trained to do?
Was he supposed to find real lions, giraffes, elephants and teach them how to talk and behave?

"It will be just as satisfying, if not more so, to see him break out of this cave and become iron man one last time"
I can only imagine your disappointment when this scene came up
"Next time baby" 😂😂😂
😆😆😆😂🤣
I was actually having this conversation yesterday with a guy at work, about how the first iron man film was basically the grandfather of the mcu, and how increasingly well it's aged. Funny coincidences.
Also I gave you guys some criticism on how you did the add integration on the last video which you replied to. I know it doesn't mean much, but I want to say this was far better, didn't feel slimey. I know the video would have been made already before my comment last time, but I hope they're done like this more.
Thanks for watching. As we mentioned, different sponsors require different stipulations - we were able to do what you wanted on this occasion. We've got rules to follow that are bespoke for each opportunity. If we transition into them, thats not an attempt on our part to hoodwink anyone - we always feel that were clear on what paid promotions are, and really thats the most we can ever do, they are what they are.
love your essays
Anyone here in 2020 still watching this discussion about the first iron man movie?
Seeing Endgame Sunday night, probably up to 2am while seats were available. I'm so nervous I don't want to see how it ends. I will legitimately cry if the worst happens to Tony. I don't want to see that >.
I keep having to remind myself that every Full Fat Essay is actually like four minutes shorter than the timer indicates due to the ads.
GOD DAMN SON THAT WAS FUCKING MIIIIIIILKYYYYYY!!!! I found myself nodding and going “holy shit yes!” A dozen times. Damn good research here boys.
Seriously how are you madmen pumping out this many AMAZING essays this fast?? Putting aside the extraordinarily proficient editing, the actual prose is seriously top ten you tube work, Marvel-related, Movie-related, or otherwise.
Seriously top notch work.
thank you Kyle, always a pleasure to read your feedback! glad you keep coming back
Full Fat Videos the pleasure is all mine, Gents. I don’t know if you saw my other comment but I am crossing my fingers that you guys are working on a “One MARVELous Scene” video. Even sans invitation they said they’d add any they got to the playlist. That’s the kinda exposure you can’t buy.
As for the video, I’d be interested to see how you see the impact of Iron Man in other Phase 1 movies, outside of the obvious plot structure components. The flavor, the cuts, the color,
I wish I could afford to contribute to the Patreon- you guys would easily be my first.
There were Avengers, when I was a boy. Where they went, only a few know.
The fact that Favereu is currently working on Disney’s Star Wars makes me think that in a few years we’re getting a Star Wars cinematic universe. I mean we already kinda are getting one.
i so agree with the music part, its how i was introduced to acdc which is why i love them so much
To me this is the one marvel film i can say without hesitation is Martin Scorsese level Cinema. Truly art. But it’s the only one from the entire mcu
I'd make a case for The Winter Soldier.
Iron man was my favorite movie when I saw it in 2008 and it is still my favorite 11 years later
Love the video man, keep it up 😁
Couple of things that I really enjoyed, as a comic book fan, was the inclusion of Dr Yingsen.
Great video👍👍 keep up the good work
Ya I did
Yesss new video!
If the MCU iron man has a kid he better name him Yensin I swear if they don't ima be mad he was the one that taught tony how to be human
Dark Knight: I've redefined what it is the be a comic book movie
Iron man: Hold my martini Oliver Twist.
*"I AM IRON MAN"* - Tony Stark 2019(Endgame)
Anyone else still traumatised after Endgame? I really need someone to talk to about it...
If I could change one thing about Marvel’s music, it would be keeping the original score. The other scores are fine but the original by Ramin Djawadi (the composer of Game of Thrones) is just the best.
The Black Sabbath moment at the end is my favorite mcu scene.
Greatest film in the MCU. Always will be.
Not the greatest but definitely one of the best!
@@reddiamond8136 I disagree.
Indirectly calling me biased isn't respect.
Especially when you don't know why I prefer this film.
@@billypathy Well, never mind me.
Course highest grossing movie of all time
7:08 holy shit that pepper burns
When you said "One last time" in the conclusion, my mind immediately went to Theoden in Helm's Deep.
I still remember how I was BLOWN AWAY when I was told to stay at the cinema when the credits rolled and saw my first ever postcred scene. I was literally amazed. And I still laugh whenever anyone leaves as the credits start rolling on any Marvel movie :D
Well instead of laughing, why not shout about the EC Scene?
@@ScotsDestroyer Because people just leave when they know they come, actually. I've heard them talk about knowing they come, and leave, still.
"Feige deserves his own video." SUBSCRIBED
When I first watched this movie in 2008, I never could've guessed the empire it would help build; I just remember walking away from the film like, wow that was actually pretty good
I think Iron Man is extremely under appreciated because no one gives it the right credit. To me Iron Man is easily a top 10 comic book film. Iron Man is in my top 5 comic book movies of all time and is my second favorite movie in the MCU only behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The End credit scene in Endgame is the best one so far
What was it? my parents made me leave the cinema so i didnt get to see it
@@angelinaelchammas2506 the end credits
I think it all begins with the animated movies Ultimate Avengers that was the first time people were really introduced to these characters outside of the comic books and thus the beginning of the paving of the road that would lead us to the marvel cinematic universe we know today.
Because the film basically worked on it's own. (Not like for example TASM1&2 or Tom Cruise's The Mummy)
All the MCU movies work on there own while at the same time help tell a piece of a overarching story which is why there sucessful
You know what, I'm gonna say it.
The Dark Knight < Iron Man IMO
There's one thing The Dark Knight doesn't have on its side (for me at least).
Nostalgia. A shit load of nostalgia.
It's also unfair to compare Dark knight and Ironman, because Dark knight is sequel of Batman Begins, so it got headstart on Ironman with already established characters like Bruce, Alfred, Gordon, Rachel, etc.
Why hasn’t Jon Favreau directed more MCU movies?
because Iron Man 2 was shit
David oh. Well that does answer the question. Moving on.
He's busy playing Happy Hogan
