      As to your last line, I'd say the exception being when you actually need to take in a certain number of calories and nutrients but have a hard time eating enough to make that happen. I've had issues for years with low appetite and then getting full quickly- I tend to not eat during the day just because I don't think to because I don't feel hungry and when I finally do, I might eat 5 or 6 bites and be done because I know if I keep going, I'll be in pain for hours. Which kind of sucks because I've enjoyed cooking since childhood still cook huge meals for my family and love food in general. But to try to get some more calories and nutrients in during the day, for years I'd drink Carnation instant breakfast (also what I'd give my kids in place of the occasional chocolate milk- more nutritional value than Nestlé Quik). In the past decade I'd switched to drinks like the Walmart brand of Ensure (just don't get the diet meal replacement ones or with added protein- both are gross). But a year or two ago I discovered Ka Chava and that stuff is great. Tons of great nutrition, all plant derived and while I don't have any restrictions, it has no soy, wheat, gluten, dairy and is GMO free. It seemed expensive at first but breaks down to about 5 bucks per serving/meal and I definitely notice when I skip having it. It has a lot of greens and veggies and fruits to support immune health and everything else but there's absolutely no way I could eat even half of what is in each serving if I were eating it in it's whole food form. My minor is in nutrition and if I learned anything, it's that while nutrients from whole foods may be more bioavailable/absorbable but it's always better to get the nutrition into your body even if to do so you have to get it in it's processed form. And no, not "vitamins" either. Most are garbage and regardless of what dosage is on the label, you're absorbing nowhere near that amount. Plus, there's no regulation at all in the vitamin and supplement industry other than basic FDA type regs. That said, I'd not think the supplements from any of these MLMs would be the best quality you could go for if you did decide to replace some meals with a shake or drink. Ensure is much cheaper, it still has the number of calories on each serving so you can control your intake and it is what doctors recommend to those who need to replace meals for medical reasons. You could use that just as easily and for much less money.

    Paused on clip three right now, I’ve worked in administration for a fairly sized church (about 500 congregants.) I was required to attend two things, our staff retreat and the meeting presenting the annual report. In the year I worked there NO ONE made any particular inquiries or statements to me regarding my religion, or questioned why I didn’t go to service (I did attend one really touching service regarding gun violence after the shooting of the LGBTQIA club in Florida.) There was usually a short prayer at the beginning of staff meetings, I was told about this during the interview, and they explained that if had other religious beliefs I could say my own prayer or remain seated if i preferred. It’s clear to me that this is faith manipulation and it’s really strange, it kind of shows that most people in MLM do not have a lot or any job experience.

      Well Mary, as someone who works at a big church and works close with the diocese, the majority of people who work at or with churches care more about money than they care about Jesus. The worst part is, since money is their biggest concern, they are constantly looking for new ways to try and manipulate members and outsiders out of money. It is absolutely disgusting.

But we've been going to smaller and smaller churches for a long time. There's little to no money so the focus can't be money. • @marymcdaniel3883
      @marymcdaniel3883 Год назад +3

      @@TheYazmanian that's a really tough place to be, if you try to show her that she's involved in a falsehood she's probably going to double down. She might eventually come out of it because of the information you show her but your relationship could possibly be altered going forward from there. You might be able to stay friendly while refusing to get involved in it but they usually see that as a rejection or refusal to support them.
      The most honest thing to say might be "I love you and value your friendship, but something doesn't feel right about what you're involved in" but even that might be perceived as an attack. There's usually an extreme attachment and cognitive dissonance when people get into things like that.
      It might be best to stay arms-length with them and hope this runs it's course quickly, for their sake.

      You didn’t fail, you did exactly what the business is designed to do. You’re very right to treat it like a cult, and I think your estimation that it’s hard for your husband to accept it is right on. I hope he figures out that when you fail, the only way you keep failing is if you let it interfere with the next aspiration. Don’t let them keep you down. If you try, you might fail. If you you don’t try, you’ll fail for sure. Learn from it, and then move on.

    I went to the Christmas (holiday) party for my husband’s company this weekend and while we did have a moment of silence this time, it was specific to the fact that one of the employees passed away a few weeks ago and 2 of the superintendents were there when it happened. It was a devastating loss for my husband’s team. The company came together and raised $14,000 for his family in just 2 weeks and we have all pooled together to help as much as possible. But normally it’s just a party where most get drunk and we all dance and have fun (grateful I’m sober and don’t act a fool in front of the big bosses), but I cannot even fathom a prayer service taking place, it is absolutely outrageous. It should be fully illegal to alienate any “employee” who is not a Christian with something that specific.

    I totally agree with you about the reasons why mlms branch off in to other products, but it is not uncommon at all for legit brands to do this too. It's actually the norm. They will typically make a new "brand" name for the new sort of product, but not always. And sometimes there is no relation between the products at all. For instance, 3m - as in the tape company - also makes many of the products used in dental offices. They make fluoride treatments and the composite used for fillings. Lol around their website. It's kinda weird.

If they had a legitimate job to offer, they could offer it directly to those needing employment without preying on them. But if talking directly to someone about an MLM opportunity is predatory, then MLMs are predatory. They don’t have jobs to offer and they know it. They have money pits to sink others into for their own benefit- AND THEY KNOW IT.
