Lutris and install battlenet through that application and it seems to work. I’m just hesitant to make massive clams if it breaks again

I'm about to go pick up a second hand 512 GB version of the steam deck from a local seller for 350.00 w/ a dock, a clear back plate, and a copper monoblock mod for better heat dissipation and lower fan noise since it runs quieter. I will be following this guide to get WoW up and running.

be ready to reinstall the launcher often and figuring out directories. It aint so bad for WoW, but it's fucking annoying at first.
Used things should be cheaper than half price for real, a steam deck here costs 399 brand new with the dock
ConsolePort is *_absolutely fantastic_* for everything short of end-game raiding and hardcore PVP. Played *_Season Of Discovery_* all weekend with a gamepad on my desktop and after a few hours of adjustment time I was main-healing dungeon runs on my Druid with no problem!

There is no option for ge proton in the compatibility. I downloaded the proton up qt that you said and the only options for running the battlenet compatibility are various proton versions. None of them have ge proton. It’s all proton experimental proton 8. Proton 7. Etc. where is ge proton???
Open the proton application, hit add file or whatever it says near the bottom and you should be able to install ge proton to proton up
Restart took care of it for me.
I'd recommend disabling the action bar addon - you get to keep the clean looking UI with the same customisations. I'm playing on an 8.8inch Legion Go however, not sure if it would be the same expereince on a Steam Deck.

Thanks for trying but you skipped over some important small details. You skim over your folder creations, what button you are pushing to pull up certain drop downs. This was a tutorial for someone who is very familiar with Steam already, not beginners.
Very sorry I’ll go back and try to be more friendlier thank you for this information. Having used the deck for over a year it’s easy to forget newer players don’t.
I’ve been working on it for hours figured out the basics but hit a wall. Instead of logging me on battlenet the little icon just keeps spinning and never stops
@LanceUppercut78 that login method broke when they updated battlenet yesterday 😞 I now have a workaround but have yet to do an update. Unfortunately that’s one of the downsides of Steam os is if somthing gets updated it potentially causes breaks. I’m going to start letting everyone know that these videos can easily become outdated due to updates. I’m sorry for your bad experience and hope to rectify it.

@LanceUppercut78 there is an application in the discover store on desktop mode called lutris. From within lutris you install battle.net with 0 issues I just tried it in the last hour working great!

@@kingsalami217 lvled a paladin to lvl 37 now. Healing is doable if you use left trigger L2 + menu button. There will appear a mouse over on your party members en you can switch between party member with the d pad. Maybe there is an addon that will do the trick also.

So you guys really reinstalling the launcher every single update? Blizzard updates their launcher often and every time it's a reinstall for the launcher.
no not normally you don’t just have to wait for the proton patch to drop and that normally fixes any issues, most updates the the launcher gets don’t normally brick it.
@@kingsalami217but it does often. WoW binding and settings are server side, great. I play D2R and the settings are local. Every launcher update I had to redo keybindings and settings. Yeah, after about 10 times, I can't do it. On Rog now, SD was the perfect handheld, just such a shame for now

Yep blizz updated battle.net .. of course they did and broke my guide… there is another using another app called lutris to install it and I’m using atm and it’s working I’m just hesitant of posting another video and this way also breaks

I have changed my setup currently I have tab targeting on my back buttons L4 and R4 to go back and forward to easily do through enemies and on holding right trigger I have the the same buttons tab through allies
How would one easily install addons by installing wow this way? I'm having issues with Curseforge detecting wow and manually updating addons is a bit cumbersome

Same issue here… it doenst login in at the moment. So frustrating. Everything worked fine yesterday. But after complete reinstall it hangs on the login screen in desktop mode.

I am also just stuck at login from desktop after inputting my email and password. It just never seems to advance from there. Has anyone been able to pass that?
I'm having the issue where none of the options for GE-Proton8-23 or above even allow me to run them as compatibility tools for it and its frustrating.
So you have turned on forced compatibility within steam and the blizzard app isn’t loading at all?
I had the same issue. Make sure you installed the GE version. Then be sure to quit Steam and restart it.
Slap it on experimental and it’ll work. Just need to be a little patient with it first time
Had been sick and unaware of the alerts till just now, but I have now gotten both options to fix, however it just sits on loading forever and I've waited over 30 minutes just to not see it get past the log in.@@xangeltechx
Works fine, but every time Blizzard launcher is updated, it bricks your launcher. After about 10 times of doing this, I got an Rog. I reallly didn't want to, I think SD is perfect for WoW... but yeah only so many times I can reinstall.
There is no add to steam option in the right click context menu. Is there a separate program or config required to see this?
There should be an option to add to and you’ll get a large window with a drop down of all your apps you should be able to add it that way
Hello mate! Not sure if you encountered this issue. After a while, an xbox charging icon shows up on top of my character. I did not change any mappings or whatever in the bindings. Any thoughts?

I download Ge protom 24 but no matter what I do it never shows up as an option in compatability only proton experimental etc

Set your proton to experimental and try again if that doesn’t work restart your sd should do the trick

A question since I'm thinking of buying a steam deck (OLED) for mainly playing WoW on the couch.
If I play it on 90hz with decent settings (can be max also) - how long is the battery life holding up? Can I play for 3hours straight?
I think you definitely could get 3 hours I’m getting at least 2 if not more on the older led model. I’m running the game on max settings by dropping them back and dropping the max power tdp down from 15 watts you could get plenty.

@@kingsalami217 also for some reason the sign in stays in buffering mode so you can't sign in there is a fix for that as well. You have to put the proton on experimental and put a command in launch options. The command is WINE_SIMULATE_WRITECOPY=1%command%

Downloaded proton up-qt and selected the 8.25 version and it was downloaded, but it’s being listed as “unused.” When I went into steam and went to the config settings, it wasn’t listed as an option. Any idea?

My key bindings are not saved every time I open up the game. Do you know how I can fix this? Every time I open all my spells are different keys
You will need to go into the addon and on the left hand had side it will say let bindings under it it will have a save button and if you want to save per character or all

Struggling with some else. Whenever I use "toogle raid cursor", all it seems to do now is prevent the ability to use the start menu. Can't get the console port menu back. The raid cursor also doesn't appear
