Rafen was the first 40k POV led me to this grim darkness of the far future and ever since then I have been part of this community for the past several years and never regret reading the Blood Angels Novels.
I’ve been watching tons of lore videos and listened to alit of short stories,but, I need help on what novel to start reading? Would you have any recommendations? Thnx in advance
@@johnnykobra7256 if you're looking for a story that is focused on one character to get yourself started, Blood Angels Omnibus with Rafen is a solid start!
@@johnnykobra7256 Start where you are interested most, pick your favourite Primarch novel or something with a character you really like and go from there. I haven't heard of a good and solid starting point. If you've watched a heap of videos already, you're not too worried about spoilers so you should be good! Enjoy!
Rafen is my personal favorite 40k protagonist. That scene of him injecting the vial of blood into his heart and dogwalking Fabius Bile with his bare hands lives rent free in my brain.
Rafen is such a good protagonist because he’s a badass, but vulnerable. He spends as much time in an infirmary as he does on the battlefield because he’s getting beaten to a pulp half the time. But he always gets back up and finishes the mission, or buys someone else time to before he’s out of commission
I've noticed the most slippery and despicable of antagonists the writers of Black Library make almost the same. They can escape any circumstance with clones or plot armor akin to magic and become the smartest person in the room when plot demands it. I understand it's grim dark, but that doesn't mean pro-antagonist/villain, as the protagonists (according to situation) have no issue being killed or slaughtered. Bile is as grating on the nerves as every champion of chaos.
I agree. I love 40k and most of the lore is good but sometimes there's just a bit too much plot armor for characters and it feels like GW are sometimes too scared to kill off a character and introduce big changes
@@MrFredstt They killed off Yarrick and some more important characters. I know part of it has to do with the figurines, but they emphasize lore just as much and had no trouble destroying Warhammer Fantasy with The End Times. Grim dark is hard to write for also because it's grim dark as in truth, it's very limited in direction and expectations. They shouldn't have expanded the lore for that reason and kept it a simplistic messed up, war-torn galaxy where no one had an inkling of decency. I read the books now and I see the formula of what characters need to be represented in each one, rare ones that don't I like best, but big plot changes you know isn't to reintroduce a new line or figure are tame. Kill Bile or whatever that one Necron's name is. They are pretty much written the same.
@@o.w.n.1327 He's Chaos tainted, of course he's going to be evil, the issue is they keep making these obviously contrived situations where certain characters you can tell early nothing bad will happen to them. Sometimes you get evil characters that give and take and I like those best, but some characters would be dead long ago if they weren't so heavily protected by the writers.
No matter of which faction are you talking about you always make them look like the main protagonist, I really love your videos and hope you make a custodes one soon, they are going to be my first army 😭

Fun fact James Swallow did ask Black Library whether he can kill Fabius Bile or not because apperantly he hated the dude and was too evil for him.

Of course space marine people will say there is to much plot armor, maybe play a better faction??
What is it with inquistiors and trying to manipulate space marines. First was the inquistior in Ragnar's Claw, then the inquisitior in Rafen's story.
They play a dangerous game with upmost arrogance that’ll surely lead to the same outcome akin to Russ Sons.
