Well Airbus is still producing the A319neo though as it is part of the A320 family Airbus could produce it when needed alongside the other family members. I think they are looking at A220-500 in couple of years to replace A320neo ONLY after the sales of A320neo slows down.
This way they could focus on A321neo replacement with A360/A370.

@@AnishAbraham Well not really, A319neo and A320neo have a really small difference in terms of fuel consumptions. A320neo because of its larger size could carry more passengers which resulted in better fuel burns per passengers per mile.
And because A320neo isn't that much big than A319neo. Many airlines actually ended up upgrading their routes to A320neo instead. The low sales number of A319neo isn't helping either.

You probably should've added just 1 more line in your descriptions playing during the vid. "Airbus chose to purchase the majority share of Bombardier because then the 300% tariffs the U.S. gov.t levied on the C-Series wouldn't apply since Airbus has a plant in Mobile, Alabama, where they could then produce the C-Series, claiming that the U.S. gov.t can't rightly levy tariffs on a product that's built in the U.S." (even as a U.S. citizen, I must say that was absolutely brilliant on Airbus' part). I know the politics of the whole deal isn't what this vid was about, but if you're going to reference the battle between Boeing & Airbus, which you did, I think it's worth mentioning. Just a thought. Enjoyed the vid all the same.

@@gerardacronin3095 Ehh, I won't go so far as to say Boeing was "out-smarted by Airbus," but they were definitely PRESSURED by Airbus to get the MAX into service to compete w/the NEO...which is probably why there wasn't as near enough time devoted to training MAX pilots on a completely new system, i.e. the MCAS, as there should've been.

    • @gerardacronin3095
      @gerardacronin3095 4 года назад +9

Nathan Huffman When I say Boeing was outsmarted by Airbus, I mean that Airbus and Bombardier found a way to collaborate to get around the egregious duties that had been imposed on Bombardier by the US government at the behest of Boeing. In return, Boeing chose to respond by rushing the Max to market and skimping on safety. It was all about money.

    • @dodoubleg2356

@@gerardacronin3095 by "egregious duties" I assume you mean the 300% tariffs emposed by the U.S. gov.t. If that's the case than yes, absolutely Boeing was out-smarted by Airbus. (Although w/Boeing purchasing a majority share of Embraer, only time will tell who comes out on top). & your final comment, I'm assuming you're agreeing w/what I said that yes, the MAX absolutely was rushed into service at the expense of safety in order to compete w/Airbus & the NEO. In all fairness though, while one could say that Airbus came out on top in this deal, when you factor in the reach of both companies, (Military, space program, etc...), Airbus is well behind Boeing. That's the only reason why Boeing has been able to absorb the cost of the MAX debacle without going bankrupt.

The truth is that the A319NEO is defunct in all but name: orders are counted with the fingers of the hands, and none have been delivered to date after 5 years of launch date. Aside from an odd government/corporate or private jet it is doubtful that any ever will. Boeing's 737-7 fares no better: Other than Midwest that wants just a few craft to serve Chicago's Midway Airport orders are scant. The reason is simple: both aforesaid models are old technology with heavier airframes. Their COC (cash operating costs), most noticeably fuel consumption, are 5-10% higher than the A220-300. Furthermore A220 will now be available from 2H2020 with a heavier extra 2.5 ton MTOW which will enable it Atlantic crossings from East Coast airports to Western European destinations, further expanding the market fragmentation of that route. The 300 version should offer 3,200NM and the 100 some 3,100NM, thus better competing with good costs against A321LR and MAX8. These figures include head winds, 5% fuel reserve, 200NM diversion and 30' loitering. Sales which so far have been reasonable, if not a barn burner, should get an extra boost with this change.

I have not flown on the A319 neo, but have flown on the A320 neo (Lufthansa), and would imagine that the differences are the same as between the A319ceo and A320ceo (Lufthansa & Swiss). I have also flown on the CS100/300 (Swiss).
Do not get me wrong, the (now) A220 is a great aircraft and I do enjoy flying on it, but I actually prefer the A319 - somehow it just feels more solid and better built. I have travelled on almost brand new A220s and ones a couple of years old - they were definitely showing far more signs of wear and tear than I have ever seen in the much older A319/320s.
The larger windows on the A220 are great until you get above the clouds, when depending on the location of the Sun, you can find it VERY unpleasant if it is streaming through a window over which you have no blind control!
I have read many comments regarding the virtues of each, but I sometimes wonder just how many of those commenting have actually flown on all of the aircraft they are commenting on regularly, if at all! And, if they have managed to travel on them, were they comparing from the same airline, as I know all to well that the customer experience is often more significantly different between airlines than it is between aircraft types.

An A220LR could easily replace the A319. Given that the mileage difference between the two is just over 300nm.

The A319neo like all A320 series can carry 1 ACT tank which adds about 400NM range. The Corporate Jet version I think can squeeze in 6. There is another thing the A319neo can do that the A220-200/300 and that is carry LD3-45 ULD (containers) which many A319ceo operators use for both luggage or freight. I think Spirit airlines just ordered some A319neo. I suspect that many airlines used the A319ceo because they had runway length issues, hot or high airport issues, wanted a little extra range or a quick climb to cruise. The A320neo due to the new engines now has the performance of the A319ceo.

The most obvious thing: The cserie is obviously more aerodynamic and consequently is more elegant. In short, it is a more beautiful plane, especially in its front part ... Comparatively, Airbus and Boeing planes are more unsightly, since their front does not obey the full logic of the least resistance to the flow of air ... Bombardier has given aerodynamics priority from the start of its design, and therefore also the lowest fuel cost for use; and gave themselves the `` dream '' of beauty ... Exactly the spirit behind all the designs of this company ... And this is even more evident with the aircraft of the Global model series. ..!
    Yours.
OK, I don't understand something here , you said a319neo can fly further, maintenance costs are lower, but a 220 is cheaper to operate ? Something isn't right here.

vassil vassilev Thanks for your comment. Well the A319neo flies further but airlines may not require the extra range for such short flights. The A319neo is a shrink if the larger A320neo hence it is a heavier airplane than the A220-300 which is the longer variant of the A220, an aircraft which was designed from the ground up to fit into this market. Hence it has lower trip costs compared to A319neo thanks to its lighter airframe and lower takeoff weight allowing for increased fuel efficiency. Hope this answers your enquiry. Thanks for watching and if you have not done so do consider subscribing for more great videos!

The 220 definitely seems like a 737 and 320 killer. Will Boeing and Airbuses new clean sheets really just replace the 321? If so, Boeing will need ANOTHER clean sheet small plane..or buy Embraer..or abandon the small plane market?

    Soy de Perú
Me gusta el A 320 clásico
    Tiene un despegue más suave
    Que los modernos neo 320
    Los neo despegan muy veloces
    Y muy violentos
    Prefiero el 320 clásico
    Es espectacular
    Viajó 6 veces
    Al mes en vuelos domésticos
    En Perú
    Y me siento muy bien
    Es un 320
    Lo máximo

On paper, the 220 is a better aircraft. But operationally, the 220 is suffering big time. Especially the 100's out of Canada. Maybe the Mobile aircraft will be better, but time will tell.

Aside from the max 8 being an antique, having a track record of crashing into the ground, its fine. A319 has better range than the angelic max 8. So not sure what your talking about. But the A319 hasn't killed anyone. That's a plus. A220 is modern, way more modern than the a3XX airframes for that matter. A220 is the now.
