    I really like the E2 for its 2x2 layout.
    A non-short flight sitting in the middle seat is just a nightmare to me. It doesn’t matter how many centimetres wider that seat is.
    I hate having to negotiate leaving my seat AND looking out the window, while fighting for room on BOTH armrests.
    COME ON ppl 🙄
    I’ve never flown on the A220, but I tend to feel much less cramped if I’m not... trapped between two ppl 🤷‍♂️

    For the regional service, E2.
    it has the right autonomy, each version has its own wing, neither small nor large for better efficiency, lower noise level.
    ACJ 220 if I were to choose only for longer, low-demand routes, where greater autonomy would be decisive.
    The reports of the companies that use the E2 show that it exceeds the efficiency gain promised by Embraer in some points.

  • @JeromeDukes
    @JeromeDukes 3 года назад +14

    In regards to orders, the A220 family has more orders, since airlines chose the bigger variant. It really comes down to flexibility (long or short haul) and comfort. In this area the A220-100 wins hands down. However, I agree, if the airline's goal is a shot haul plane then the E195-E2 has a better cost per person on fuel burn.

    • @mic7504
      @mic7504 Год назад

      But, it is especially on short haul routes where the A220's speed advantage can add extra flights per day. Speed and economy have always been trade offs when looking at revenues. Do you want to replace inefficient engines with efficient engines that have the same performance? Sure. But do you want slower engines for the sake of marginally better fuel economy? Well this is where the extra flight a day becomes a huge factor. If economy was king then we'd all be flying on prop planes. I think the market analyzers at Canadair/Bombardier saw something when they recommended specs for the PW1500G. Embardier also essentially created the specs for the PW1700G. By choosing a less expensive, lower thrust engine for their aircraft they have created an aircraft with a lower purchase price and lower fuel burn but also an aircraft that can not complete an extra route per day and cannot fly into higher altitude cities.

    The A220 is better as a hybrid between a regional jet and a standard short to medium haul plane (i.e. 737, A320). Meanwhile the E2 is better as a regional jet.

  • @mic7504
    @mic7504 Год назад +2

    What you E2 supporters don't understand is that when Canadair/Bombardier gave their specs for a new "fuel efficient" geared engine to PW they choose a thrust ratio that would optimism speed and altitude performance. This increased the number of regional fights an aircraft could make a day, while also allowing higher altitude airports. They weren't idiots. They knew they already had a more fuel efficient engine so they asked what was more important, being the most efficient or being efficient and flexible. Embraer came along second and were already where known as the cheaper sticker price plane manufacturer and so chose the specs to keep that market differentiation. They have a plane with an engine that is cheaper to purchase (giving the entire aircraft a lower sticker price), more economical to fly, and slightly quieter than the other new quieter fuel efficient engine on the market. But it can't fly as fast, and can't fly out of some high-altitude airports. So it will make fewer short haul flights for you in a day into fewer airports and on long haul flights your customers will notice significantly longer flight times. If I was a new airline specializing in mid-haul flights to cheep holiday destinations I'd choose the E2. But if you're a big airline with lots of regional flights to fill a day the performance of the CSeries/A220 makes you much more money over the life of the aircraft. The reason the A220 only has a 1000 orders so far is because the other airlines who hesitated can't afford to wait for new aircraft.

    • @mic7504
      @mic7504 Год назад

      @@rscott2247 It's a very interesting new talking point these paid commenters are hitting on "quieter". The PW1700g Geared Turbo-fan engine the E2 uses has a thrust ratio between 15,000-17,000 lbf 67-76 kN , the A220's PW1500g Geared Turbo-fan has a thrust ratio between 19,000-23,300 lbf 85-104 kN. The E2 has a quieter lower performing engine than the A220. But they are significantly slower. So on short haul routes they add about 15 min to a flight or an entire extra flight a day is lost compared to the A220. And because they are both geared (so they can change their thrust without steping on the "gas peddle") they are both quieter than the older market dominating RollsRoyce engines. Oh and the C-Series/A220 has the active noise canceling system in the fusalage that Bombardier developed for the DASH8/QSeries Turboprops. So until I see a blogger recording a decibel meters on comparative flights I have seen no stats suggesting the A220 isn't actually the quieter passenger flight experience.

    • @mic7504
      @mic7504 Год назад

      @@sergiolaurencio7534 No. It is not the same engine. It is the same engine manufacturer, Pratt&Witney . And the same new fuel efficient and quieter "geared" turbo-fan technology. But Bombardier chose the faster higher thrust PW1500g for the CSeries/A220. So the A220 can fly more flights a day on short routes or fly longer routes faster. The E2's PW1700g is also a new quieter and more fuel efficient engine but they chose a thrust ratio to optimism fuel efficiency and sticker price. Outside of the aircraft the PW1700g is the quieter engine. Of course there are a lot of other factors effecting the noise levels inside the aircraft.
