The A319 NEO will probably not make a comeback because the A220 can fill in that role.

319neo's need a longer runway compared to 220-300's so A220's can operate at smaller hubs.

The A319neo will never be a hot seller. The A220-300 has better economics and the MAX7 is more efficient on per seat basis.
The A319ceo sold because of several reasons: 1. Narrowbodies overall were smaller on average in the 90s/2000s, 2. 9/11 helped a lot as Airlines needed less capacity per plane 3. The A320ceo was rather limited in range, the A320neo now is not and 4. There was no C-Ceries/A220 which has lower operating cost.
Boeing did everything right stretching the MAX7. They created a new niche for the MAX7, this way it's bigger than the A220-300 and has lower per seat cost. It's more or less the same size as the 737-400, which had no direct replacement.

Keep in mind that the cost per seat is only one of the many factors enabling airlines to choose their aircraft. It's not all about that.

@sebastianfloyd9705 range that 99% do not need. The A220-300 can easily fly 6,5 - 7 hours.

A319neo is much more safer than MAX7

@@spiritairfan how do you know? Neither A319neos or MAX7 ever crashed. And still the A319neo does not sell.

@@widget787 the MAX7 is part of the MAX series, and the MAX8 has crashed, therefore, making the NEO series safer, and the A319neo is part of the NEO series

Maybe Easyjet will order some to replace their current A319's which are starting to get a bit long in the tooth. I think it's more likely they will go for A320 NEO's though!

In the United States this is useful for operating out of short runways something that you cannot do with A320neo A321neo B737 Max8-10 versions. Examples Key West Florida St Croix US Virgin Islands Jackson Hole Wyoming these require B737s A320s capable of using their runways and hot and high conditions affect them

These are usually good videos, but why compare neo and ceo in terms of sales for example ? also they are not going up against each other.. the neos mission is to replace the older ceos. so first part of the video is quite useless, but it gets more interesting after that.

Lufthansa never had the a220, why are you saying that they grounded them ?

But Swiss uses the A220. And they are a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group.

As always an nteresting video again . But using only inches, feet and gallons makes only sense for 2 or 3 countries on this globe.
As a non American those imperial metrics doesnt say something. Is het possible to At least project the metrics equivalent om screen or use both metric systems if possible in your narration.
It would do many people (I suppose) make comparing of seizes or full consumptions much easier.
    Thanks in advance.

Agreed. Using only those medieval Barbarian measures in the globalized 21st century is so parochial...

HUH? The wingspan / area on ALL 320 series planes is the same. 111'10" with old style wing fences. 117'5" for Sharklet upgrade. Then you said some really weird stuff about fuel capacity /range. Now the vertical tail fin IS taller on the NEO vs CEO.

Aircraft buying is not like a game of Top Trumps. How they fit into your existing or planned future fleet is important too.
If you already have A319ceos in an A320 series fleet, and need to replace them with something of a similar size, the A319neo makes perfect sense.
Likewise, if you already operate a significant A220 fleet and want something a little larger, you will be screaming out for a dash 500.
We must also note that the A319, being the younger vairiant does not have as many due for retirement. Time will tell how many of those will be replaced with aircraft of a similar size, or like Spirit with the larger A320, in the way that some A320 series operators are replacing some of their A320s with A321s.
It is rumoured that the LEAP will be available on the A220-500, I wonder if it will find its way onto the other variants?
