Here's a little trick you guys go to harbor freight and buy what's called a drill pump it's $14.99 you hook two hoses to it one one the in and one for the out and then you just push the button on the corded or cordless drill and it does all the work, pumps 750 gallons per hour.. it works anywhere you can pump it out of your spring or from one IBC Tote to another IBC Tote or from the IBC Tote to your camper it's how I pump water from my IBC Tote on my trailer i pull behind my jeep.from where I fill up...to my big RV that is stationary on my property ..quick and easy..

@@RunawayMattCass oh I do water catchment also on each end of my RV it has these little spouts for the water runoff..my rv is a 2022.. I went to Home Depot and I bought these gutter extensions that kind of look like accordion tubes...attached with super duty outside velcro hook and loop tabs ( No way was I drilling in to my Rv)
Because the accordion-like shape that they are I can point them in any direction,
And I have food grade 55 gallon barrels under them with cloth screening to catch any particles leafs twigs and so on.
Then on my son and daughter's 12x24 Amish cabins..gutters with IBC totes for catching water.. 6 people in 3 different residences we use alot of water also 4 dogs, 4 cats , 3 huge rabbits, 14 chickens
So alot of water is use.. the only water we drink and cook with is the water I bring in for free from a filtered source..
Soon our sand point well will be driven..

Tennessee Here! I know people who have these built and u just don't come out and say it! Move ur van beside it and noone needs to know ur business! 😅 If anyone ask u live In the van and u need the building for storage because u are going to build a house...Use solar and do what ur doing for water! Use a aluminum feeding thingy for a shower and wrap ur shower with metal roofing! Run ur grey water for veggie beds! Also ur sinks..Use a compost toliet 😊😊

If it was me, I would just get me a trailer that would handle the tote with a full tank of water in the some insulated foam around the outside of it so you can keep the sun out.
And a pump built on to the trailer that you can actually pump the water from the tote to the house.

    • @RunawayMattCass
      @RunawayMattCass  11 месяцев назад +2

We will be setting up rain water collection for our home. Our current solution is just temporary and we don't want to over buy before we know what we exactly want. Although a trailer may be in our future soon.

  • @c50ge

When you were explaining your ventilation above the foam sheets you may have horizontal ventilation but you really need vertical ventilation and a way for air to flow free. The bottom to the top and a way for that vented hot sit to escape. With out good ventilation above your insulation you can get “container rain” moisture and high humidity that can cause mold and mustiness.
Retired and my Wife and I are looking for a place to build a mini home, I wish we had your energy!

think about putting hurricane clips on the rafters and metal straps from the top plate angled to the bottom plate , before you cover everything up , that can also continue on with straps embedded into corner footers in cement , check building codes and discuss this with a local builder or good carpenter

I might have missed it buy how is airflow entering the eaves and travelling out the peak which is necessary to evacuate moisture? Can air enter the base of the eaves and travel upwards? Those 1x4 boards going across the rafters act as a block from what I can see and you will not get airflow from the bottom of the roof out the peak.

Is the water coming from an Artesian well, because if there's an Artesian well right down the street from your house but in a few miles there's probably a spring or as well underground under your property that you can tap into you need to find out because if you can tap into an Artesian well on your own property which would be a damn good thing you don't even need a pump then I would look into that because you can find out if there's one under you if there is a need to tap into it you can pound of WellPoint down in the ground just get a bit from a air hammer and weld a piece of pipe onto the build a platform and just pounded a pipe down into the ground with the Jackhammer I've done it myself it works really well takes a while but it's worth the work

What might help with that kinky hose is pulling it out straight and stretching it a bit. Each gets on the opposite end of the hose and begin walking away from the other. Walk until it won’t stretch anymore. The hose will then have the kinks out and is more usable.

    Just a word of CAUTION:
Don't put the gasoline in the back seat---if you have an accident, it can spill and cause a much more serious situation, including the possibility of a fire!!
Stay SAFE---especially on these mountain roads.

Very cool. Can I ask what part of TN this is and what you paid per acre? I’ve been thinking of doing the same on a smaller scale. Just drive through tn this past week, hence how I found your channel

Hey guys... Im new to your channel. Im watching your video this is illegal. Now while i understand that you are not rich.. Couldnt you find a friend or perhaps somewhere way off out of site to move your tiny home to temporarily then go thru the legal steps of building it yourselvesand get the necessary inspections and what not. Then use the built from scratch building as your shed or barn building for all of your supplies etc. Then bring your Aumish built building back and start worming on it as you wanted to. My Grandpa always said do what you want to do and pay the fine its so much cheaper than going the totally legal way. They nickle and dime you to death when tryi g to do it all the states way.

I just worry about people! I have the lady from a homestead youtube mad at me because she was showing everyone how to store Walmart potatoes. There is no use storing store potatoes they have hormones that prevent sprouting and are not good for human consumption. I have some store potatoes I sadly purchased last may and went soft. I have had them in my lawn in full sun for over a month. They look better now than when I put them out. They are not green and no sprouts. Scary stuff. Again I love what you are doing and you are so lucky to have a partner in crime!

Unfortunately , the state says that if it begins as a "ready removable", you need to follow all procedure including permits and inspections (even though if we built it ourselves in our county, we wouldn't have to) It's very frustrating.

How are you affording all of this? Land, prefab cabin, truck, fuel, etc. Are you financing this from RUclips revenue, or do you have some other income source? I’m looking to go off-grid too, but I keep asking where’s the money going to come from if I were to leave my good job… Just kind of curious to see how you are financing this type of lifestyle.

It's all been a gradual process and decisions that have brought us here. We bought our bus for $3,800 and built it by hand (out of pocket) while living well within our means and working full time. Through all of our travels (and now on the homestead), we both work remotely. At the height of the market, we sold our house. We eventually sold our bus for a profit. We live and lived minimally in a way that most people wouldn't even consider for 3 years and were able to save the majority of the money that we were making. That all brought us here. We now continue to work remotely, make a very little amount of money through our work on RUclips/Patreon/Instagram and plan to turn our property into an income generating business.

Just found your channel and I’m so happy I did. I love your videos but I am concerned about the news you recently received re not being able to live in your home. Ugh is this really what freedom looks like?? A question we must ask ourselves before the election.
