I think this is the single greatest live rock n roll song performance ever captured. Just amazing. 100 miles per hour. Drums are basically a rolling drum solo start to finish. Iconic organ and guitar solos. Fantastic bass especially the walking bass near the end of the guitar solo. Killer vocal.

The reason why Blackmore's solo isn't covered in the video is that it is a scam video - it is not from Made in Japan, this is footage of Copenhagen, with the Made in Japan version played on top. It is a fake video. Blackmore fluffed the solo in Copenhagen, or at least doesn't play the amazing version that appears on MIJ, so the person who uploaded the video - who knew he was making a fake video - edited the Copenhagen footage to sync with the MIJ soundtrack. Where the video doesn't match the sound, stock footage fromelsewhere in the video is used. That's why the solos aren't shown - because then you'd see that the playing on the video is not the playing on the soundtrack. It's doubly ironic that you think that this fake video is the greatest song performance ever captured... Can't people spot lipsyncing or fake videos these days, even when it's painfuly obvious?

For me, this is the greatest live album ever! The live versions on this album are WAY better and more exciting than the studio versions. This is Ritchie Blackmore at his absolute best. To bad the producer of this video was to stupid to have the camera on Ritchie playing possibly his best solo EVER. A great live band.

+ZeroTheHero I guess for all the hard core DP fans this lineup is and will always be the best. A true dream team. No other has ever surpassed it. Simply impossible. And this isn't only an opinion - it's a fact. Look at the ultimateclassicrock web page (deep-purple-songs) and see for yourself. Out of top 10 DP songs, 8 of them belong to Mk II and only one to Mk III lineup. Moreover, first 6 ranks are held by Mk II songs (Highway Star is one of them) and only than there's Burn on the 7th rank. Or, let's say loudersound web page (DP albums from best to worst). First three ranks are held by In Rock, Machine Head and Fireball. Burn (the best Mk III album according to critics) is only the fourth. Search the web yourself and you'll find similar facts elsewhere. Or look at the Deepest Purple (original) compilation tracklist - out of 12 songs on the album, 10 of them are from the Mk II period. I guess no further argumentation is needed.
Btw, the foudations for HM have been laid by Sabbath, not DP. General opinion, not mine. OK, in a way you're right but than you could say the same for The Beatles, Little Richard, Elvis, B.B King, Lead Belly, Bach, Beethowen and zillion of other musicians since all of them contributed to the music that followed after them and therefore to the HM as well. No one has ever started form the scratch but used and upgraded the work of his (hers) predecessors.

You are so right. I saw a program on TV about Richie Blackmore and his career with interwiews of many of the worlds best guitar players. They all lifted Richie Blackmore up where he belongs as one of or maybe the best rock guitarist ever. Guys like Satriani, Vai, May and others definitely know what they are talking about. I saw Deep Purple live in Helsinki in the early 1970:s and they performed Highway Star and other tracks from Machine Head that had just been released. It was an incredible experience because there was just the band and their equipment now mammoth stage and extra flashing lights. I had a seat on front row and was only a few meters away from the band. Over 40 years later I still love their music and much of the solo projects as well as Richies newer music with Blackmores Night.

Personally, I think did an outstanding job of syncing the two and brought the essence and energy of a Deep Purple concert to an audience that otherwise would never get to see and hear it together.
