Just think about it: Deep Purple has a " Golden God " Glenn Hughes playing bass and singing as the second singer. Most bands don't have somebody as good as Glenn Hughes as the lead singer. Just an incredible powerhouse of a band. I don't think the people of 2023 realize how much talent it takes to do music like this live. This is not easy to do folks.
I haven't heard Deep Purple for years. I grew up with DP often going to sleep at night playing thier music. It always was full of energy and got me up when I was down. It's 2018 now and there is no modern bands that can bring forth the musicianship like Deep Purple did in the 1970s.

Look, I can even do it Karate Kid style. But you're right about Mr. Coverdale." Coverdale: "Hey Glenn, what was that you said about a white snake?"

My heart was captured by Deep Purple Mark II, but the Mark III version of the band was LEGIT! Exhibit A is their performance here at California Jam '74, ripping through the all-time classic, "Burn." A significant lineup change, but Coverdale and Hughes proved themselves WORTHY. All hail Deep Purple!
Man. Deep Purple. Ritchie Blackmore could play that guitar. Always my favorite. On Burn, that bass player's part was always my favorite part of this song. Coverdale sure lended his unique voice to this song. A pure classic.

It's incredible to watch, amazing professionals. Even the live performances are flawless. Nobody puts together such complex music these days. You just sit there and stare in silence.
The energy they project from the stage is truly amazing! Bought this on VHS in the early 90s and still remember how impressed I was by this opening. It made me jump up from the sofa, shouting with excitement. I wish that would happen more often these days. 😄

Glenn Hughes... that voice! That hair! That suit! And.... those boots!
+iainjames
And that EGO!!
+Clive Bindley At 6:32 he must have told Ritchie Blackmore "Get off the damn stage, this band don't need you or Mr. Coverdale. I'm the one with the white satin suit and the platform boots. Don't I look like a white snake?" Then at 7:11 Blackmore is like "Piss off, I'll start my own band, I'll name it after this piece of stage equipment and you can't be in it. So there motherfu**er. Look, I can even do it Karate Kid style. But you're right about Mr. Coverdale." Coverdale: "Hey Glenn, what was that you said about a white snake?"

All deserved
Nothing beats 70s ROCK!
I remember watching them on TV. With ELP and Black Sabbath......SO GREAT
2020 and still listening.
Ian Paice was the only constant in Purples 50 year journey..🎼🎵🎶🎸
BlackMore...A Genius!!..Thank you for the memories...
Just an amazing song in every way.....genius! Probably one of the best ever written & performed- still can’t get enough.😊
Best band, best guitarist in the 70's
I'm more partial to the MKI and MKII lineups, but this is one of the most epic, tremendous, and powerful songs Deep Purple ever did. This song just kicks ass and takes names. P-U-R-E R-O-C-K at its finest. 🎸🥁🎹🎤💎

Holy SH*T! Ritchie actually SMILES at 4:15...rare , this is
I saw that too, you rarely see him smile. :)
Truth R B always looks like he's pissed off and about to kick someone's ass!
his smile is everything for me
Time to burn , I was 11 years old , on the other side of the country . With weed , a deep purple album and black Sabbath was all I needed . thank you .
I've been playing live for 30 years, two bands came close LOL. Damn, can I appreciate musicianship. Deep purple effing rocks!
I love this great rock band, ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD.
Great rock of course
Guitar is outrageous
Hi agsin
Ian Paice! What a drummer!
Yes.
Thee drummer . Living legend
@@leenozatc125m5 Exactly.
Proves you don`t need a huge kit.
Sabbath has a pretty good one too. Goes by the name of Bill Ward
Guitar Science

That bass line in the chores is killer
One of the Greatest Rock Bands Ever
+Neville Bardoli That voice of Glenn! It is otherworldly
Music & pure talent like this no longer exists. It's sad.
One of the greatest rock bands ever
By a mile!!
So outstanding, what a great piece of music, I can listen to this all day.
One the greatest band in the world, deep purple.
the greatest hard rock song of all time!...
Glenn Hughes best singer in any lineup of Deep Purple. Ever!!!!
if only the bands today were half as good as this one........
They are. The only difference is you have to look harder.
DobrePytanie You fucking moron. So you are fucking saying that amazing talent is hidden? That's total bullshit. In the 60s, 70s and 80s, talent was there for all to see. Now there is nothing but shit.
Nfloz Johnson I know this is old but this pissed me off so here are some awesome bands of multiple genres from late 90s/2000s
Mastodon
Gojira
Rings of saturn
Susto
Stuck in the sound
Sturgill Simpson
The Marcus King band
Muse
Leprous
Modest mouse
Mumford and sons
Behemoth
Adele
Avenged sevenfold
Lamb of God
Killswitch engage
Opeth
and many others.
Music I guess is harder to find I don't know I wasn't born in the era you're referring to but I've only gotten really into music the past year and I can name just as many good modern bands if not more as I can from any other decade.
Austin Collins still bullshit.
Nana Saldarriaga "Still bullshit" What do you mean?
This is really the supreme deep purple vocal line up. Coverdale and Hughes together are fantastic.
They are. Unquestionably so. But I still prefer Gillan.
Absolutely and Glenn can still do it!
"Burn" was a great song and album, but Mark II did more great stuff together. I'm a big fan of the "Fireball" album.
True. However, I prefer Gillan.
@@aquamarine99911 In Rock is also awesome!
Amazing and fantastic to see 10 million views of this classic band, what a power trio of Blackmore , lord , and paice, wow was that a fun time to rock and roll!
I was fortunate enough to have seen these guys in 75... What an amazing show
These were the days of great rock n roll
Yes I miss those glory days too
it dosnt get any better than this really. a great rendition of this song! for us all to listen too!
I don't mind Coverdale, he has a unique blend of soul and aggression in his voice. This is still a great lineup.
I like Gillan
What an incredible 🎸 riff! Blackmore is a legend.
A living legend.
I was 6 years old....and i still listen to them on a weekly basis 🤟 Todays music ( Top 40 ) totally FORGETTABLE!
Man. Deep Purple. Ritchie Blackmore could play that guitar. Always my favorite. On Burn, that bass player's part was always my favorite part of this song. Coverdale sure lended his unique voice to this song. A pure classic.
yes its a great bass line in the chorus. Really hooky.
DEEP PURPLE: Still Kickin’ Ass After All These Years!! To All The Original Members Of Deep Purple Who Are Hear And Those Who Are Gone... Thank You For Blessing Us With One Of The Greatest Bands Of All Time!! Thank You, We Love You!!!
It's incredible to watch, amazing professionals. Even the live performances are flawless. Nobody puts together such complex music these days. You just sit there and stare in silence.
When music was awesome. Deep Purple rocks.🎶
The energy they project from the stage is truly amazing! Bought this on VHS in the early 90s and still remember how impressed I was by this opening. It made me jump up from the sofa, shouting with excitement. I wish that would happen more often these days. 😄
Once in a lifetime, great band. Just insanely loaded with talent. Legends.

Best live version of Burn EVER!!!
RIP Jon Lord...
Always found Ritchie Blackmore a fascinating character. They were all quite talented
Almost 50 years later, this song still drives me crazy with so much electricity coursing through my veins.
I was lucky enough to see this on TV when I was in high school. Also Black Sabbath. My two favorite bands at the time. I feel so lucky to have seen Deep Purple 2.0, 3.0, and 3.1 ( Tommy Bolan ) live.
