David I love the fact that you said wait until end of video to like and subscribe because you want to earn them. Never heard any other RUclipsr say that
The first version you reacted to was a live performance with a bunch of post production including audio that definitely wasn’t live. It was from a DVD that was sold with one of the studio albums, and a lot of people were disappointed with the obvious not-live audio. Label allegedly said they did that because the crowd noise was too loud in the raw audio, or some bs like that. Anyway, there are a few videos of them performing this song with the a live violin player and live cello player playing that duet at the beginning without a backing track during that part (track kicks in later). The violinist retired from performing several years ago, though. They were also both credited as performers on the studio albums. I’m quite confident that no one is telling Seth to stand still. In fact I think I remember seeing a band interview where John poked fun at him for it. He’s just a chill guy who doesn’t like to stay in the spotlight for too long.
Fun fact: This song is actually played in a lower key than the album version (red instead of blue (for those unaware I view different keys/pitches as colors). Also, sometimes for live performances of this song Skillet will use another drummer so Jen can be in front performing with Jon and interact with the crowd if possible. Not the case with this version but I have seen videos on YT showing it so it does happen. As for the performance overall it was good but not great. Looking at the source video the lower energy may be partly do to the previous song being Feel Invincible, which I'd argue is more energy intensive than Awake & Alive is. As for whether it'd be better if it was entirely in the slow style like the intro I'm leaning maybe. I could see a world where it could work, but I could also see a world where it might not, and I certainly wouldn't want the slower version to be the only version they play live, as I feel that's an easy trap to fall into if you know what I mean.
I believe ClemVP told you to stop at the specific time to tease you with that song about video games, just my opinion. Honest review and totally agree with it.
I agree with a 6.8, and I do agree this was one of their “weaker” performances. This whole show specifically (volt festival 2016) they seemed tired and John sounded tired/maybe a little bit sick. Maybe being overseas exhausted them. They do play/travel a lot when they are over seas, who knows , But I’ve seen them three times this year and they usually leave it all out on the stage.
I agree the performance was pretty good now to answer your question you asked who was playing the violin where's the violin player well the violin player left the band to spend more time with his family The cello player I believe is an official member of the band but I'm not sure about that
Those Nights is a fan favorite. Good on you Clem VP for the tease. I enjoyed seeing you nod your head every time Jen sang. Always enjoying her ability to sing and play without tracking her voice.
Yeah. I used to not like Skillet too much until I saw them live in 2013 in Oshkosh. That was a very good show. One of the best live shows I've seen. After that, they did a local show post lockdown at a drive in was decent as well.
I agree that they seem completely gassed here. Either this is the end of the set or they just finished running a couple miles right before they came on stage. They had way more energy when I saw them live and it was a great show because of it.
I'm not going to gripe with you about that score, I have seen better performances, heck the one Skillet show I have been to they absolutely brought the house down. But they do tend to go on LONG tours, and I'm sure they have off days where they just can't bring the heat to the same degree as usual - they are only human after all. I'm sure you know the feeling Dave. As for Seth kind of just standing in the back, I feel like that is kind of just how he is. He only really comes up for solos. He just strikes me as the kind of guy who really doesn't like the spotlight, which is a little odd considering his profession LOL. But even if you watch interviews of the band, he lets everyone else do 90% of the talking.

I'm doing my best to be different, and stand apart from all the others.
@@THEDavidHeretic you’re definitely doing that and mad respect for it
@@THEDavidHeretic Johnathan chew uses to be in skillet, but now he is with his family now and that's why he wasn't on stage

Great reaction. Love the honesty.
The song about playing video games all night is called Those Nights. It’s from the Comatose album.
I am not very tech savvy. I hope I do this right.

This is from pink pop 2016 I believe. It was an amazing set and I do believe this was near the end of the set.
