Skillet is an American Christian rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1996. The band currently consists of husband and wife duo John Cooper and Korey Cooper along with Jen Ledger and Seth Morrison. The band has released eleven albums, two of which, Collide and Comatose, received Grammy nominations.

I'm sure it got already mentioned in the comments that Jen is not John's wife. Korey, his wife, is the other guitarist :) but Jen Ledger is amazing, absolutely love her (backup) vocals! Jen Ledger is the drummer. When they needed a new drummer about 13 years ago, she was only 18 when she auditioned. John made her play one additional song over everyone else who tried out: Tom Sawyer by Rush because he wanted to be sure she could play a rolling double kick. She nailed it. So funny you are wearing a 2112 shirt.

Was going to mention that as well, as a bit of trivia. Huge RUSH fan here, but Skillet is quickly becoming a favorite. If you listen to enough of their work, Jen is truly an incredible drummer. She's so fast and precise!
The drummer is not John's wife.. it's the guitarist. The drummer is Jen Ledger. She's one of a kind. Not many drummers who can sing so beautifully at the same time.

Yes, they 'fixed' it compared to some of the lower-quality live version, but I don't know what they did. It's quite unnatural. Be sure to listen to some of the other live versions (there's a better version of this exact live show), and always catch the studio versions as well, just to hear it properly mixed and all the depth, etc.
I wondered what happened because I knew his voice sounded different but once Jen started singing it was very noticeable lol
Drummer is Jen Ledger, and she's originally British. She and guitarist Seth Morrison were the latest lineup changes back in 2008, and 2011 respectively

Kory is a beautiful singer! It's just that John's 'grit' matched with Jen's 'angelic' is so dynamite! But, yeah, I love their older stuff (pre-Jen) where Kory was most of the female vocals. I wish Kory would sing more.

SKILLET has always been a devout Christian band. But their first few hits were extremely popular in secular radio and sales. I’m sure by now, you’ve learned that the “kid” rockin the drums (the lovely and talented Jen Ledger) is also a fellow Brit.

I first found your channel through your Rush reactions. Huge Rush fan here. But I am also a big Skillet fan these days. So glad that you both got to react to a song you've never heard before. I love this song, and so many great songs from Skillet. Skillet is not so much a Christian rock band as they are a band of Christians that play positive, motivational hard rocking songs.
In the title, it says "Audio FIXED". I'm not quite sure what they meant by that, because once they got rocking in this song, it hardly even sounding like John and Jen singing. I just saw them live this past Saturday 8/5, and they put on a great show yet again. I've seen them several times now, and have quite a few videos that I recorded on my RUclips page if you ever wanted to check them out.
Anyhow, other great songs from Skillet are: Legendary, The Resistance, Surviving the Game, Psycho in My Head, Feel Invincible, Hero, Monster. Just to name a few. Looking forward to more Skillet reactions.

I think the person that made this video took the studio recording, pitched it down - they perform in a lower key than the recording - then put that over the video. So you're not really hearing the live performance, which is unfortunate. The original video from the Pinkpop festival doesn't have the best audio quality, but it still gives a good idea of how the band sounds and what the song is like. I don't think a fix was necessary.

As mentioned, Korey, the other guitarist, is married to John. She sings sometimes too.
Jen Ledger, originally from UK, is the drummer. She's amazing.
Definitely a Christian band, though they don't put the focus of all their songs there.

Jen Ledger is the drummer and is great. They all are.

They’re very outspoken Christian. John regularly posts on his personal Facebook/Insta about faith and current political issues and has written a couple books about worldview topics and has a podcast where he mostly just has fun, but will also delve into some deep faith/worldview, and current world issue topics. Even songs like Back From the Dead, Monster, etc, if you understand where they’re coming from and the lyrics, are very Christian songs.
Now about the band: the band was started in ‘96 by John and a few other members. John plays bass and sings, his wife Korey joined in ‘99, plays keys, rhythm guitar, and backing vocals, Seth Morrison is the current lead guitarist since 2011, and Jen joined in Dec, 2008 after she turned 18 (her birthday is 8, Dec) and she obviously does drums and backing she’s sometimes lead vocals. They discovered her when she was 17 and their second drummer, Lori (2000-‘08), had left the band for personal reasons and needed a replacement. John out of integrity would not allow a minor girl to be touring with them, but they were in a rush to get a drummer to go on tour. Korey and Lori worked with her training her to be in the band during that Christmas season, and thankfully she turned 18 like a couple weeks or less before they were scheduled to go, at least that’s the story I’ve heard. She only started playing drums at 13, but was good enough to be a finalist in the UK Drummer of the Year competition when she was 15 (she’s from Coventry). After that she moved to the US for a drumming scholarship at a Christian music school. She’s a drumming prodigy. Seth grew up listening to Skillet as a teenager and his dream of playing with them was fulfilled when their former lead guitarist left. I don’t know as much about him because he doesn’t have a page on Wiki like Jen has.
A lot of what I’ve heard about them comes from interviews and is hard to find, but they are a really awesome, solid group of people, both within and without the world of music. From the beginning of the band, their music and their ministry has been geared toward hurting and broken people. They’ve done a lot to save people, especially teenagers and young adults, from suicide, cutting, drugs and alcohol abuse, physical, mental, and sexual abuse, etc. People can’t always tell through their music that they’re Christian, and their music is played universally on both Christian and secular radio stations, but if you see them in concert, they’re going to present the gospel. They don’t hide it. But that’s how a lot of the Christian rock groups are. People can’t always pick up on it from the music if they aren’t looking for the message, but when they start talking, their faith comes out.

Your reaction was great! Skillet's what's called a cross-over Christian band which means that they play both Christian and mainstream shows. They can do that because they don't strictly talk about God by name in their songs. They talk about worldly issues through a faith viewpoint. Last year, my youth group went to see John Cooper the lead singer at Camp Electric, and I had the opportunity to meet him! He was such a kind and nice guy. You should react to their newest song Psycho In My Head (the live version)!

Every skillet song is Christian themed for lack of better explanation. John ( the lead singer) has a podcast called cooper stuff listen to that and you’ll have no confusion about his religious beliefs. I’m Christian myself so I think their message and writing is fantastic.

They're a band of Christians more then a Christian band. They rely more on a positive message and only occasionally refer to God directly. Definitely need to listen to their other songs: Not Gonna Die, Ignite, Legendary, Standing in the Storm, Finish Line, Forever or the End, Back to Life....they've been around for more then 20 years, a lot of good songs
