Ahh I needed this! After months of hearing about Cambridge University removing "Anglo Saxons" from their books and class names....it was a warm feeling to hear someone who clearly cherishes Beowulf like Heather O'Donoghue.
@@nadian8987 They just want to erase them for total PC reasons. They said to "Decolonize the curriculum" which is a total red flag....especially in the UK where they are PC crazy right now.
Removing the Word Anglo-Saxon as a descriptor is not in any way intended to erase a people. It's an inaccurate term for the early medieval English. It's not how they would have referred to themselves and isn't particularly useful as a descriptor. The history is still there, the people are still important to it, we're just updating how we refer to them as we understand more about them.
