    I was a user of Dip tobacco for 17 years and have been cold turkey for 6 days. I don't feel the actual physical addiction anymore but the mental battle with habits you speak of are still there. After a big dinner waiting for my reward...the last 2 hours of my shift. seems that my favorite times to dip are still having me riffling through my pockets for a can that isn't there.

    What I love about AoM is that, since the founders are very Catholic-minded, they're not afraid of, and strongly encourage, speaking on porn addictions as "yeah, guys are addicted, it's B-A-D, and we are confident that we can fix it". Many manly blessings to AoM!

    I quit smoking cigarettes nearly two years ago, so hard but one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I still want one sometimes. I don't know how, but they still smell SO DAMN GOOD to me.

    • @irishdc9523
      @irishdc9523 9 лет назад

      It's more or less the same experience for former drug users. For example, people who are clean from smoking heroin may have done so because one reason was they liked the taste of it. You probably still like the smell and taste of tobacco sub-consciously and also considering the fact that nicotine is what makes cigarettes addictive.

      Garrett Thompson I quit drinking and smoking a few years ago. The thing that helped me most was thinking of the bastards that approve this shit. They obviously care more about money than people so I decide to care for myself. This may not be good enough for some people but it works great for me. One quick look around this world and it’s easy to see that THEY aren’t on your side and THEY couldn’t give a damn about you. Well, they’re not getting any of my money or ruining my life. I am better than that. Good luck.

  • @Fredwitrave

    Interesting. There is also an other way which is pretty similar but involves more 'choice' and less 'habit'. I'm not saying it's a better way but it's an other possibility.
    When you feel or experience the 'cue', in stead of changing the bad routine for another 'better' routine, you can also change it for a moment of 'stillness' (or some kind of short meditative moment). In this moment, taking enough time to do 'nothing' and getting aware of yourself and of the moment you're in, you can than make a choice what to do in the following moment or time. It involves a little more consciousness and a little less routine.
    I work a lot at home and I have on chair I can only sit in to do nothing at all (no music, no reading, ... just staring out of the window). I'm gonna sit in it right now!
    Thanks for the interesting vids!

    I've started making a conscious effort to be able to do things with both hands (where I would normally only be good at it with one). Anything liketurning taps on, or using the opposite hand to hold/open a drink bottle etc. Dunno if it serves any real purpose other than just being interesting and a bit satisfying once you get good at it. 10/10 would recommend
    By no way am I exempt from habitual behaviours (which should go without saying), I just find it impressive how difficult it can be to break or form a habit.
