For anyone complaining about the fit of his trousers.. The dude is not in his 20s. (I think.) "Manliness" is not about following trends or the latest thing on pinterest. Ethan Woo exactly this. I've seen a lot of comments about the fit of his pants. This is my opinion, but skinny jeans look ridiculous on anyone. However, I acknowledge that some people like the look and that's fine.
It certainly comes with an acquired taste, but I noticed that the people pointing out the ill fitted trousers aren't exactly saying he needs trendy "skinny" jeans. There are more sleek options than skinny, but the fit that I've seen work with many is the "slim", which is roomier on the top and a bit tapered on the bottom. You don't have to get an all-tight pant to do that. I don't think its about the trend as much as it is how odd his legs look because of all the extra fabric folding. I probably shouldn't say I like this video since I work in a clothiers and my job is to try and get men to buy lots of clothes, but I do like this video a lot. It's awesome to see someone finally break down how versatile simple articles can be; denim-friendly blazers, chinos, white shirts, a dark suit, etc... which I always try to include into a mans wardrobe when doing a consultation. It's also great how you explained it's okay to have a few basics as long as you mix and match them into different outfits. I hate it when men insist they just need the one exact same outfit for every event like it's a military uniform or they're a cartoon character, I mean, at least change the tie.
I really appreciate this video and your channel as a whole. Yesterday you taught me how to polish my husbands shoes and now I can surprise him with shiny new shoes when he comes home from his business trip!!
That Cladwell site is amazing. Actually seeing what you need and what you'll wear prevents the problem of having a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear / nothing you feel comfortable in. I also like that they give you choices instead of other services that just send you random clothes from their personal brand. I've wanted a pair of nice boots for awhile so I'll look around next week (black friday) to see if I find anything good. Wearing sneakers all the time is getting old.
Great vid. I've lost about 30lbs when I finally started working out and now I can make good, versatile, yet quality choices when building up my wardrobe. I've cleaned out a lot in my closet and working on making mine look as good as yours.
Laura.ren101 almost every European country uses the dot in numbers the way Americans use the comma. For example in my country, the Netherlands one thousand would 1.000 instead of 1,000 and 90 cents would be €0,90 instead of $0.90
Dik van Achteren curiously European mathematicians, engineers, or scientists don't do that. They'll use a space to separate. Which weirded me out a little the first time I worked with a European engineer, but it does provide a significantly cleaner look, imho.
MoustacheTex do you mean like 1 000 000 instead of 1.000.000? In that case, it does look cleaner and I think both are correct, depending on the persoon.
This is great if you want to use the word minimal while spending all of your money. For me, I do laundry about every five days. Five days of clothes (for me) consists of five shirts, two pairs of jeans, one pair of overalls, and a modest supply of socks and underwear. Done. I have not needed a suit since I was 15, but if I need one I'll just stop at a thrift store and pay a solid $30 for one. In my opinion, this is pretty complicated for something considered minimal.
Can't take this stuff to seriously. They're just clothes, but whether you like it or not people make judgements based on how you look, so you need to spend a bit (emphasis on bit) of time thinking about this stuff so you can put your best foot forward.
I'm 15 now, and I'm not sure when to switch from teen style light denim and tees to an actual wardrobe like you have here. I know it won't be for at least like 3 or 4 years, maybe even a few years into college, but it's just something I like to think about.
liked the showing us what it looks like instead of just talking about it like others do on youtube. I'm using youtube to fix my room and clothing look. currently I toss everything in a giant pile then dig through it to and Wear whatever I find. I never get rid of anything until I get too fat to fit in it or it just falls apart. even then I'll sew it back together until it looks unsightly. had dress pants once with a hole near the front pocket I just sewed it shut and wore it with a sew line down the side :D
You have such an awesome genuineness that is so visible through most of your videos when you talk! You are an awesome guy and have an amazing heart for others! Thanks for giving this generation advice on to stay classy and manly! God bless!
If you get a suit, try and get a second pair of pants. Generally the pants will ware out faster and this way you can reduce the replacement cycle. If you do not fit well into a clothing store suit (off the rack), consider getting yourself a tailor made suit (i.e. made to measure). I switched to tailored about a year ago and haven't looked back. Also, because of the extra 'tailoring' I was paying for when it came to the off the rack, switching to a tailor paid for itself.
Wow, it amazed me to see how many negative comments are on this video because, he said, "I wear it to church only on Sundays." If these "men," only knew the level of Manliness it actually takes to live a life after God's own heart, they would see that they are just boys. Keep it up, bro. I only wear my suits to church, too. Because no ones deserves the best in my closet more than my God.
First of all, I would like to say that I love your podcast! Great advise and many things in there that I have adopted into my life ever since. For this "fashion" video however I have to agree with a lot of comments here. Even though the style does come off as "manly" there is a thing or two to say about fit. I believe having well fitting clothes is half the battle (the other half is probably finding the right colors and color combinations) for your type. That being said, well fitting does not mean skinny, as has been falsely misinterpreted by some people in the comments. Maybe it's also cultural in a way? I live in Los Angeles right now and I definitely discern different styles across the country, with a generally more European/smart look in coastal/urban areas and casual in the middle of the country. I grew up in Germany and I remember how my dad once said that you can tell and american in a business suit by looking at the pants (too short, which was demonstrated in this video :)) and generally everything being a bit more baggy/boxy (which was also demonstrated here). However, he made that comment back in the 90s so I think in some ways things are pretty stable... Just me rambling here, but I also want to add that I do love the posing antics sir! Keep up the good work!
awesome, great video. great backyard too, man. basics are important. my only 2 rules for myself are to never buy anything that's not timeless and never to buy anything that doesn't already go with everything else that I own (this way I actually "build" a wardrobe, as opposed to just owning a bunch of shit). i also go for good quality stuff whenever i can, so it sticks around a lot longer (worth the investment, imo). great advice on donations as well. I think goodwill is a little bit bogus, try the mens shelter (especially this time of year). happy thanksgiving, AoM.
I realize I am female, but I still very much enjoyed your video. My husband and I have purged and removed so much stuff from our lives, but the one thing that I just refuse to touch is my husband's clothes. Well...except holey socks. Those can ALL go. I hope to show this video to the hubby soon! =)
absolutely loved all the different aspects of this vid, well put together and very clear. Versatility and simplicity is a key quality to being a Man. I love and live on versatility. What this video shows is that its very easy to look good without really trying to "look good".
I loved the final tip about getting rid of clothes you've no longer worn for the past 6 months. Personally, I have difficulty throwing away or getting rid of stuff, especially clothing. But it's useless to leave clothing just hanging there in the closet when you could also donate it to people who would actually wear it. I reckon this knowledge would also make it easier to give them away. Thanks for the helpful advice.
Here are The Basics: 1. One crisp white shirt 2. One pair black dress pants 3. One pair black shoes 4. One pair brown shoes 5. One blazer, either black, dark blue or grey. (Your shirt or tie will give you the variety, until you can afford to buy more clothes. 6. Leather jacket 7. Reversible dress belt (black/brown) 8. Dark pair of jeans( this can give you flexibility in they can be worn dressy with a nice shirt, and when casual, they are still a jean. This item will buy you time until you can expand your wardrobe.
Greetings! I took your advice and had my shirts tailored. BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT. They wear like 300 dollar shirts now. Perfect fit, neat in appearance, and MANLY. Ordered your 4 books (autographed of course). Just finished reading "The art of Manliness", and just started " Manvotionals". Excellent books! Totally thrilled with my purchase. Going to start working on "the 100 books every man should read" that you mentioned in your first book. Let's just say I have a lot of reading in my future. Thanks for all that you do. Stay manly.
I stumbled upon your channel recently and have watched several. Excellent guidance! At the end you of this video, you talk about editing out unused articles of clothing. I have a method of determining what stays and what goes. I return my hanging clothes to the left side of the closet, and select generally from the right. This does 2 things. It keeps me from over-wearing favorite items, and it shows what I never wear, as they are eventually parked at the far right of the hanging rod. Occasionally, I purge that end.
I just "went Darwinian" with my closet last week. Most of what I found were specimens of otherwise extinct species. Since I don't have several thousand dollars to spend on a new wardrobe at the moment, I'm going to take this advice and see what I can build around a few good pieces.
I agree with the twice-per-year purge, with the exception of my suit. If I haven't worn my suit in the last six months, it means that I haven't attended any funerals lately. That's a good thing. Also, I have a rule that I can't bring home a new clothing item without pulling out a similar-but-outdated item.
I hadn't seen this, but this is basically what I've learned in the last year. I LOVE my wolverine's. Expensive as well, but they look amazing and will last so long. I also have some Chippewa Apache's I really like.
Great vid! A few observations (not meant to nitpick, just a fresh pair of eyes): - chinos too short, possibly too baggy - jeans too long, maybe try a simple turn-up - light sports jacket definitely too big (better to spend more and have it fit perfect) - can't go wrong with a V-neck (but make sure the fit is similar to the bottoms, so you don't get slim-fit / baggy or vice-versa) - crossed arms not a good look; you should feel comfortable in your clothes + pose! Totally agree with the 6-months comment!
Those chinos fit fine. Chinos are not very dressy, so they can totally be less than perfectly fitting. They always used to be a little loose, just look at any old pictures of people who wore them. The recent fad with tight-fitting clothing has been too overzealous.
I keep coming back to this video. It's great how you show the different looks and explain everything. I also start off with pants. Great video thanks God bless. 👍👍👍
Got sick of washing clothes so I bought a few work clothes & have them dry cleaned. Also use the under shirts on the outside a lot. Work clothes - 3 pairs of pants, 7 shirts, 2 pairs of shoes. More is not more. Play - 3 t shirts, 2 pairs of jeans, 2 pair of shorts, 1 sweater, 1 golf shirt, 1 pair running shoes, 1 pair boots
You look very sharp and handsome in those clothes but also quite...dad-like. Not that that's a problem. Aha I appreciate the tips though and I'll take them into forming my own minimal wardrobe. Have a great day c:
I'm not huge on tucking in my shirts when I'm trying to be "casual." Is there anything specific you would suggest with button up shirts if you plan on just wearing one that sits around the belt line?
Do you not understand that the reason some men have baggy dress pants, is due to a "large seat".if you are packing some impressive muscle in your hips and legs, then you can not wear thin pants properly. Remember, clothes are designed to fit the man not the man to the clothes.
It's more of a problem with them being pleated. Those make trousers look so much bigger and you look so much fatter. As someone who does have rather muscly legs, wearing slim jeans or other slim trousers looks great, but skinny is just not good. That being said, not many people can pull off the skinny (hipster) trousers look.
Great advice. The only thing I would say is that if you use both your suit trousers and jacket as separate pieces, you run the risk of ruining the suit completely. For example, I worked in an office where it wasn't essential to wear a jacket, so I would simply wear my suit trousers a couple of days per week. After a few months of this, due to the wear, I noticed my trousers had turned a different shade of colour than my suit jacket, rendering the overall suit useless.
Art of Manliness Thanks! Though I would not consider myself obese, I am in the 'fullback' category and I find it hard to find nice clothing to look good in without looking like some '70s LV gangster. So basically, any tips for people between yourself and the obese? Thanks!

Thanks Brad! Been thinking a lot about my wardrobe latelly and you have some great suggestions!
For those clothes you never wear I find it helpful to turn the hanger so the hook faces out (opposite of the normal direction). Then after a few months you can know for sure which clothes you never wear.
"Mama just killed a man, put a gun against his head.....pulled the trigger now he's dead....." What is the deal with the Freddy Mercury look? Has that made a comeback since the 1980's?
shelleyinthecity Because Freddie Mercury invented the moustache, and it hasn't been popular for hundreds of years...and he's the first and last to wear one, right?
great video! thanks I'm rebuilding my wardrobe and I though I had to buy the most flashiest things all at one time but you taught me to build it over time with simplicity
With all due respect to your personal style, why the 'stache? While facial hair doesn't ages the face (DUH!), you have 3 choices: 1:You are Freddie Mercury 2:You are Rob Burgundy 3:That kind of moustache does age your face. I don't know where do you work at or would they accept it at your workplace but a well trimmed but larger fullbeard or even a handlebar (if you are not afraid of being called either a hipster or a gypsy) would fit you better in my opinion.
Art of Manliness If you like it roll with it, i just think that facial hair is similar to hairstyle because in both cases the facial shape plays a huge role in looking good or bad and in my opinion a Chevron/Zappa style works only with peoples who have really long faces or pointy jaws(diamond shape or heart shape). You sir, as far as i can see have a less pronounced mentum, in between the oval and the round facial type somewhere so personally i would either grow something pointy(a handlebar, a ducktail beard or even a pancil mustache) or something that gives my face a bit more length(a longer fullbeard). As far as the other thing goes...unsolicited...yeah sorry, i didn't mean to offend you! Anonymus...i know that it would be a lot more credible and nice if i would show my full name but i have all of my comment history, playlists etc on this account and i cant change my name so i will stick with this.
3 suits: Navy, Charcoal, Grey; 1 odd jacket and 2 odd trousers; 7 dress shirts (with 3 pair of silk knots and 1 pair of cufflinks); 4 pair of Allen Edmonds. That's all I need!
When I became a woodworker like 6 months ago my wardrobe changed from solid color t-shirts and shorts from jcpenny to flanels and two well fitting pairs of jeans and a couple baggier pair. still got all the t-shirts I've got to go through at some point.
It's pretty embarrassing to admit, but I'm 40 years old and pretty much (aside from the real rare occasion) dress like I'm still in college. It's bad. This is exactly the video I needed. And it's time to go shopping for the minimal wardrobe.
Just started on RUclips, first video is up discussing my future content! Content sections to come: Vlogs| Fashion| Adventure| Mens Grooming| Lifestyle Have a lovely day all! x
I always watch this video every time I get some BS advice from RMRS or Gents gazette telling me I need only the most expensive suits, and in great surplus, Always a pleasure AoM!
Dont buy razor skinny jeans or loose jeans its doesn't make you look manly if they are baggy, its makes you look like a poor slob. The rule of thumb is get the tapered look, its timeless. Definition of Tapered: Taper Fit : Tapered jeans that are simply roomier at the top and narrower towards the ankle. They are usually fairly form-fitting and considered a type of skinny jeans.
Echo Affliction I can agree with you on that. A good pair of tapered jeans or khakis are very versatile. Not too tight on the ankle, but not too baggy. I can wear a pair of my slightly tapered jeans with my boots while at work, or cuff the ends and wear with a nice pair of sneakers. Looks good with both. Just don't get an ankle hugging pair of tapered jeans and look like a goof.
Quad Squad Exactly, there perfect! And depending on what wash of chinos or denim you are wearing you can add some oxfords, a blazer nice belt and shirt and you're set! Top it off with some nice shades and pocket square and you will look gangster.
I agree...for someone doing a video about what to wear...you certainly have NO sense of what a good cut is...almost all the pants, most of the shirts, and BOAT shoes? Are you serious? Boat shoes!?! Even for a straight guy you should know better...or at least your advertisers should!
Since I am currently unemployed, my wardrobe goes with the seasons. Tank top/T-shirt, shorts and flip flops in the spring, summer, and early fall. Boots, jeans, and plaid in the winter.
all the theory here is great but all these clothes fit absolutely horribly. I know you're a little older and I'm not saying that you should wear everything skinny but you can atleast clean up the look: get some of those pants hemmed man.
First time viewer. Great video! Do you have any links for the products in this video? I am trying to tidy up my wardrobe and build a few outfits. Thank you in advance for your insight.
Good advice, I was on the path but as usual I learned something. I can't wait to retire and clear out my work uniforms, I'll have twice as much room for my minimal wardrobe!
Dude your a hipster for not trying to look like one . Dress for yourself . An tell other people to do the same. Then one day the category "hipster" wont exist because everybody is being themselves . This guy told you dont wear it with a t-shirt ? Are you fucking serious ? lmao . Yeah dude dont wear a hat with a t shirt for the rest of your life because he told you too and because your scared of looking like a hipster lol . Good luck .
What I do to see if I'm wearing all my clothes: at the beginning of the year, I reverse all my hangars. As I wear an item, I'll put it back the correct way. At various times during the year, I'll check the hangars. If I've gone through a season without wearing an item, I'll donate it. Keeps things neat and tidy.
That’s a brilliant idea.

Thanks for the kind words, Mitchellfw
***** Keep spamming those Deodorant man. It'll help you.
Nikhil Vetam He probably uses AXE.....sad teenagers these days, no hope to become a man
I really appreciate this video and your channel as a whole. Yesterday you taught me how to polish my husbands shoes and now I can surprise him with shiny new shoes when he comes home from his business trip!!
Bringing true manliness back to the U.S I salute you good sir.
Congrats on losing the weight!
Coleco Co Make sure to tailor your clothes now that your down some sizes, wouldn't want anyone missing out on all the hard work you did.
Definitely agree on starting with the pants. You never need as many pants as shirts or even shoes.
Filling the role of 773.225 missing fathers. Manly indeed.
Breadlord lmao why decimal? Are they missing leg or something
I believe the decimal functions the same way a comma would in some countries. It's nice to step out of the ethnocentric box sometimes.
Your posing antics were great. Love the vid.
God bless!
Awesome video, it changed my perspective on how I look at my closet. It literally made everything easier for me.
Glad to hear!
Art of Manliness does a mustache make you a man?
Not one thing makes you a man, rather many qualities, features, skills, etc. We strive to be not only men but gentlemen.
If I wear a sweater over a button down I sweat like a blind lesbian in a fish market.
Yes. Shoot, I sweat in just a long sleeved shirt.
Is the Sweater Light-Weight?
Are wearing it in the summer?
That is the best analogy I've heard in a long time
I just laughed so hard. Took me half a second to get it though.
That was a damn good line.
This is the best guide yet, most minimalist guides don't provide practical examples and only give abstract ideas like "mix and match"
Wow, it amazed me to see how many negative comments are on this video because, he said, "I wear it to church only on Sundays."
If these "men," only knew the level of Manliness it actually takes to live a life after God's own heart, they would see that they are just boys.
Keep it up, bro. I only wear my suits to church, too. Because no ones deserves the best in my closet more than my God.
Isaac you gay bro?
@@papayama3678 is that an insult or an invitation? I'm leaning toward invitation
Isaac A true man is not ashamed of God and Jesus Christ. God bless you.
Papayama Change your tampon -- you're starting to stink.
Stevie Raekwon Great philosophy towards clothing. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
I realize I am female, but I still very much enjoyed your video. My husband and I have purged and removed so much stuff from our lives, but the one thing that I just refuse to touch is my husband's clothes. Well...except holey socks. Those can ALL go. I hope to show this video to the hubby soon! =)
Next I'll need to learn proper hygiene, food intake, and hitting the gym/home gym. go from video game beer gut nerd to Brad Pitt
Sounds like a good plan.
How’s it coming bout to start that
absolutely loved all the different aspects of this vid, well put together and very clear. Versatility and simplicity is a key quality to being a Man. I love and live on versatility. What this video shows is that its very easy to look good without really trying to "look good".
Thanks!
im a girl and i really enjoyed this video! I wanna apply these principles to my wardrobe :)
Amazing advice. Glad I found this channel. Your intros to different outfits were awesome :D
Here are The Basics:
1. One crisp white shirt
2. One pair black dress pants
3. One pair black shoes
4. One pair brown shoes
5. One blazer, either black, dark blue or grey. (Your shirt or tie will give you the variety, until you can afford to buy more clothes.
6. Leather jacket
7. Reversible dress belt (black/brown)
8. Dark pair of jeans( this can give you flexibility in they can be worn dressy with a nice shirt, and when casual, they are still a jean. This item will buy you time until you can expand your wardrobe.
I'm not sure if i want your wardrobe or your back porch more
Stay manly.
Solid info. Thx man!
Thanks, dude
Good call on not purging the suit.
I literally said "Wow that looks sharp!" At 8:24
I hadn't seen this, but this is basically what I've learned in the last year. I LOVE my wolverine's. Expensive as well, but they look amazing and will last so long. I also have some Chippewa Apache's I really like.
Truly good stuff. Thank you.
***** You're welcome!
Great vid!
A few observations (not meant to nitpick, just a fresh pair of eyes):
- chinos too short, possibly too baggy
- jeans too long, maybe try a simple turn-up
- light sports jacket definitely too big (better to spend more and have it fit perfect)
- can't go wrong with a V-neck (but make sure the fit is similar to the bottoms, so you don't get slim-fit / baggy or vice-versa)
- crossed arms not a good look; you should feel comfortable in your clothes + pose!
I completely agree. Also it depends on your body. Skinny can make you look top-heavy and imbalanced really quick
I keep coming back to this video. It's great how you show the different looks and explain everything. I also start off with pants. Great video thanks God bless. 👍👍👍
What if I'm living two lifestyles (one secret) and I'm just tryna get the best of both worlds?
Got sick of washing clothes so I bought a few work clothes & have them dry cleaned. Also use the under shirts on the outside a lot.
Work clothes - 3 pairs of pants, 7 shirts, 2 pairs of shoes. More is not more.
Play - 3 t shirts, 2 pairs of jeans, 2 pair of shorts, 1 sweater, 1 golf shirt, 1 pair running shoes, 1 pair boots
Cladwell wants your credit card number up front.
You are a gentleman and a scholar. Thanks for the tips!!
ur mustache dear sir is dapper 😎😎
I love how hilariously not serious you are as your modeling all these things
You look very sharp and handsome in those clothes but also quite...dad-like. Not that that's a problem. Aha I appreciate the tips though and I'll take them into forming my own minimal wardrobe. Have a great day c:
Well, seeing how I'm a dad, that's not a problem.
I'm not huge on tucking in my shirts when I'm trying to be "casual." Is there anything specific you would suggest with button up shirts if you plan on just wearing one that sits around the belt line?
ur such a cool dude but for the love of god slim down on ur dress pants. theyre so freakin baggy
Do you not understand that the reason some men have baggy dress pants, is due to a "large seat".if you are packing some impressive muscle in your hips and legs, then you can not wear thin pants properly.
Remember, clothes are designed to fit the man not the man to the clothes.
AznSensAsians If you have matchstick legs, then you'll look fine in slim pants. If you have thick legs you won't look good in slim pants.
AznSensAsians i absolutely agree. those pants are way too heterosexual to the point it's uncool to be worn in 2015!
+AznSensAsians I only ever wear balloon pants.
Nice wardrobe! Definitely what I was looking for without looking too preppie
What city do you live in? You have a really nice townhouse.
MrIskate101 i believe he's out in Tulsa, Oklahoma
Great tips. Thank you. The video itself is great, too; good examples, good visuals, awesome presentation. No wasted words either. Well done, sir.
This was awesome
Gracias.
I really wish you didn't stop making videos. Your content is amazing and so are you
Nice outfits but I would think you would be more into fitted well-fitting clothing. Nearly all your clothes are very baggy and odd looking.
What can I do to look sharp when I'm obese ? I have like real issues with tucking in my shirt because it looks gross, any idea on what I can do ? :/
Here you go: www.artofmanliness.com/2013/07/24/large-man-style/
Thank you very much, this somehow slipped un-noticed :)
Lose the weight?
Art of Manliness
Thanks!
You're welcome!
It sounded great at first, until I saw they want you to pay. C'mon, now.
+distopianfuture It used to be free
You know why beggar's look like shit. They can't pay.
Big Rock and here I am thinking it's because they can't be choosers
For those clothes you never wear I find it helpful to turn the hanger so the hook faces out (opposite of the normal direction). Then after a few months you can know for sure which clothes you never wear.
"Mama just killed a man, put a gun against his head.....pulled the trigger now he's dead....."
What is the deal with the Freddy Mercury look? Has that made a comeback since the 1980's?
Freddie*
U mad because you can't grow a moustachio?
shelleyinthecity Because Freddie Mercury invented the moustache, and it hasn't been popular for hundreds of years...and he's the first and last to wear one, right?
Awesome data, so helpful for men! simple and basic! good stuff.
I think every man needs a flannel and a 10year old sweater
Yes
At least 10 if not older
great video! thanks I'm rebuilding my wardrobe and I though I had to buy the most flashiest things all at one time but you taught me to build it over time with simplicity
His moustache looks great on him in my opinion!
Why? Because I like it.
But thanks for your unsolicited anonymous internet opinion.
Art of Manliness
Your stache is great.
Art of Manliness Ever considered a full-face beard? It'd be interesting...
Your advice is sound, but you definitely need to work on the fit of your clothes.
that mustache is simply impeccable. I am going to marry this man.
Never wear baggy pants to a suit. That's not a good look. Even for church.
Thank the lord, someone with sense, suits are built to fit well👌
couldn't agree more
thats one thing too avoid when it comes to suits.
I think it looks very good on him. Makes him look smarter.
Amen!
When I became a woodworker like 6 months ago my wardrobe changed from solid color t-shirts and shorts from jcpenny to flanels and two well fitting pairs of jeans and a couple baggier pair. still got all the t-shirts I've got to go through at some point.
nice vid, but you've gotta tailor those pants bro
It's pretty embarrassing to admit, but I'm 40 years old and pretty much (aside from the real rare occasion) dress like I'm still in college. It's bad. This is exactly the video I needed. And it's time to go shopping for the minimal wardrobe.

I always watch this video every time I get some BS advice from RMRS or Gents gazette telling me I need only the most expensive suits, and in great surplus, Always a pleasure AoM!
the trend nowadays is skinner tighter trousers not those baggy ones
well i think it look more manly and nice over all
Dont buy razor skinny jeans or loose jeans its doesn't make you look manly if they are baggy, its makes you look like a poor slob.
Mid Mid they look fucking shit.
Great presentation.
BTW, glad to see not shy about having American value. I too also dress nice for Church, how I was raised. Subscribed.
No offence but the cut of all of your trousers is absolutely horrendous. Otherwise, good vid
Atleast someone else noticed.
+nickthesnowman i think the same... all of his trousers are awful. they are way to big...
+nickthesnowman fitted is the way to go
I agree...for someone doing a video about what to wear...you certainly have NO sense of what a good cut is...almost all the pants, most of the shirts, and BOAT shoes? Are you serious? Boat shoes!?! Even for a straight guy you should know better...or at least your advertisers should!
+RafeeeeS
I'd rather have someone like this guy than all these dudes with their body-fit shirts and Skinny Chinos.
Amazing, starting my first job out of college and trying to learn business casual/professional dressing. Thank you
how to look like your southern white stepdad
Better than than being Caucasian, and dressing ghettoe.
The mustache and hair make everything look classy
How about baggier pants bruuuuuuuuuuuuuh.
Seriously Twat?
UrbanDanger ! What you talking bout bruhhhh?
Since I am currently unemployed, my wardrobe goes with the seasons. Tank top/T-shirt, shorts and flip flops in the spring, summer, and early fall. Boots, jeans, and plaid in the winter.
all the theory here is great but all these clothes fit absolutely horribly. I know you're a little older and I'm not saying that you should wear everything skinny but you can atleast clean up the look: get some of those pants hemmed man.
That's one solid moustache right there. Like your style. Keep it going.

First time viewer. Great video! Do you have any links for the products in this video? I am trying to tidy up my wardrobe and build a few outfits. Thank you in advance for your insight.
I did not even in my wildest dream imagine that the founder of Art of Manliness was a religious dude..
And I'm the Sunday School president to boot!
I know, he actually seems quite normal and not thick enough to believe in the Bible. Looks can be deceiving lol
Chivas6 Yeah. So sad.
Chivas6 C'mon, guys. We're better than this. We aren't in highschool watching TheAmazingAtheist anymore.
Yes, we are adults. Adults don't believe in fairytales.
Good advice, I was on the path but as usual I learned something. I can't wait to retire and clear out my work uniforms, I'll have twice as much room for my minimal wardrobe!
Hello, how do I wear a hat without looking like a total hipster? Thank you
Don't wear it with a t-shirt.
Good luck .
I'd love Brett to do an on the road wardrobe make over video for some of his viewers. Starting at my house, lol. Great tips. Thanks Brett!
