    I leased for 17 years and just got sick of continual payments. For EV's it can make sense if not done for too many years.

    You can use the physical key that's built into the fob to lock the door manually if you don't want to do the window trick for leaving the car in Utility mode.

    2024 id 4 battery percentage on arrival is spot on with the new software. Haven't yet seen it be more than 1% off at destination.

    Thanks for your honest comments about ID.4 and Tesla characteristics now that you’ve had an EV6, Colton is spot on there are no perfectly designed & implemented vehicles today each has its challenges. Its always been true, but I suspect the advanced technology makes it more apparent.

    I’m glad the out of spec family got an EV6. I hope Coleton will enjoy it as much as I enjoy my EV6. The infotainment system is still difficult for me but otherwise this is a great car that I think doesn’t get enough attention.

    Pet mode on EV6. Turn off the car, get out with the key, go to the app, remotely turn on the air conditioning. The car is locked and is air conditioned the entire time you are gone.
    This is the same feature that would let you turn on the heat or air to prep the car for you in the morning or on your way home if it has sat in the cold or sun. Why it isn't on the panel, not sure, but the capability is there through the mobile app. If you don't have the app, you should get it. Notifications of unlocked doors, remote charging stop and start, remote lock and unlock, and the Air conditioning. Some interesting trip information is available through the app as well.

    VW ID4: ABRP update 5.0 really transformed the route planning ability. Premium sub with the live data through VW made the entire road tripping experience set it and forget. Using Android Auto to display the map. Haven't had any glitches that were common previously. Battery percentage estimates are quite reliable, at most 1% or 2% optimistic for arrival estimates.

    Francie,
    1. It would be helpful if we knew if these deals at FC Kia were still available.
    2. It seems Coleton’s deal was done a month or two ago. It would helpful if the timeframes of the transaction dates were on these podcasts.
    3. The Vinfast journey you had seems to have been done months before it was posted. Again, are those deals still available?
    4. It would be nice to have a FC Kia rep on to explain their sales strategy and deals.
    5. I think a lot of these podcasts need to be more focused. The ID 4 discussion wasn’t helpful to me but probably to others. But to anyone looking for an ID 4 discussion, they’d probably pass this one by, not knowing it was there. I think it should be a separate podcast.
    Thank you for the work you do.

    Sounds like Colorado is so far ahead of the rest of the states with regards to EV incentives. We get a $2,500 credit in our state for new and $600 for used EVs, but the funds are limited and will run out.

    Great overview. It's fortunate that Coleton got such a good lease deal to offset the large loss he'll have for his ID4 and for his previous generation Model 3 Performance. With rapidly improving EV technology, falling prices and a better range of vehicles finally coming, leasing is a good option, especĺially with local and federal incentives, and tax deductions available for Coleton's business. The Ioniq5 is a better body style for those with dogs, and for those who prefer more passenger space and headroom, essentially in the backseat, but the styling is definitely polarizing, and I don't think it will age well.

    I have to disagree with Coleton on road tripping ID4. We have gone on 3000+ mile road trips and with common sense, had zero trouble. Not saying it is great compared to other EV'S but it is very road trip capable.

    • @cleardetailing5499
      @cleardetailing5499 Месяц назад +1

      Part of it is my fault, running 22 inch wheels. It’s now super inefficient. It’s just easier to road trip the Tesla.

    • @MDillonEV
      @MDillonEV Месяц назад

      @@cleardetailing5499 we have an r1s that I would prefer to road trip but the id4( we bought in 2021) is still free at EA. So it's free to travel which is fun. Also, it's deprecated so badly that we are trying to maximize our use of the free charging while we can. We are taking a beating on the Id4.

Can someone point out if in Dallas Texas have any good KIA or Hyundai please deals that’s going on. I would be grateful I’m just so new to leasing kind of makes me nervous.

      Start calling around to your nearby dealers. Once they know you're serious you'll probably get call and texts as soon as they begin fire-saleing.

    Leases are not for me. I also think leasing cars is a dumb idea. You are always paying a monthly payment, restricted to miles, insurance is higher, hidden fees, still have to pay for maintenance, need to put money down and always have to find another car in 2-3 years.

    In the Blazer EV, you hit the “keep vehicle on “ tab, then lock your car upon exit with your key fob to secure it.
