I just can't get past how many more wounds Lois had in deference to the 3 other victims. She was the only female, and she was stabbed significantly more times than the men. The last two men also had the fewest wounds, almost like they were afterthoughts and were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Not the intended victims. I think it had something to do with her. It could have all been in Isaak's head, but it really would seem to have something to do with her.
I don't know why, but at 17:47, when the video shows Adam walking in, I lost it. His mannerisms are so innocent and childlike--hands full with coffee and papers and phone, looking down at something spilled or something that hit his foot, and pushing the door open with his back. So wholesomely mundane just eager to get to work, unknowingly walking into a homicidal ambush only to be shot AND stabbed seconds later. My heart breaks for all of the victims, but this particular visual was so cutting.
@@dr.loomis4221 This, I saw the same clip and it's literally a guy walking up to the door opening with his back. This woman is definitely romanticizing over that dude.
It could be a scene from Fargo. He opens the door with his back, enters and turns around ready to say good morning only to walk into his inevitable demise.
Shannon S, I completely agree & understand what you're saying here! So tragic and more so when *we* the viewers know what is inevitably going to happen to him. 😔
@@dr.loomis4221 I read it more like, they're putting themselves in the person's shoes.. just a very normal routine thing, you're on autopilot, no idea that death is on the other side of the door. We have the dramatic irony of seeing it knowing it's his last moments.

True, it's REALLY difficult to have humor when talking about these topics without crossing a line or being disrespectful, he's the only true crime content creator on RUclips or tv that I can think of that pulls it off.
17:40 How CHAD ISAAK approaches the door, clad in a disguise, stops, takes a deep breath, then goes in was just chilling. He was readying himself, steadying himself, calming his nerves, knowing full-well what he was about to commit. All those kids and grand-kids of these people - how much grief did this guy leave in his wake? I hope they can find some sort of peace.
I don't know about anyone else, but with the world as it is right now, hearing "Hey you, my names Mike!" just makes everything seem a bit better. Nice one Mike.
That's some powerful rage to stab someone (or a group of someones) hard enough to bend the knife tip; seeing the actual bent knife blade after it was discovered definitely gives out heebee jeebee vibes.
@@aravenlunatic9028 Idk if you've ever used a knife but u can bend or break the tip off of ANY knife quite easily without even trying. Even if u just drop it...So stabbing a body with bones in it would absolutely do it.
@@differenttakethanmost This is a weird one right? No motive? With victims stabbed multiple times in the face, you would assume someone VERY angry, and something very personal. He didnt just want them dead, he had a gun for that. He didn't use the knife for stealth cause he still shot the gun, multiple times. Id start looking for motive around the person with 16! stab wounds in the face, and 48 stab wounds total.
He is guilty. Mike was spot on at the start. He didn't ask why he was being arrested. And smiling in a mug shot ...He's obviously a crazy guy that keeps it all quiet.
Actually, the story behind him smiling was him asking whether or not he was supposed to. They told him he could so he did. He didn’t smile because he had just killed 4 people.
On July 31, 2022 Chad died in prison from self harm. Those poor people getting to work and be murdered! 😭 The footage seeing them entering the garage made me cry!😥 Thank you for this video Mike! Hello from Quebec, Canada!🙂
These are the scariest type of people. They walk around functioning like normal human beings and then out of nowhere without any tangible rhyme or reason they do the most heinous thing imaginable.
Get yourself a firearm and keep your head on a swivel. If you live in America and don't carry your missing out on one of your basic rights. If you're a female they make some pretty adorable conceal carry purses.
There are so many men who fit that description. Seemingly nice, normal people who will rape, assault, and murder a women once they get the opportunity.
He stabbed her sixteen times in the face? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that there WAS a motive and it has something to do with her. Horrifying
Every single one of them had a ton of stab wounds. There was anger there for sure. A LOT of it. At least in this case. I have seen cases where the one being attacked turned things around and repeatedly stabbed the one trying to kill them.. Those are kinda difficult cases..
@@alexc8253 maybe. We don't know. This is clearly our opinion, as u have urs. Thank u tho for sharing. That's tge great thing about opinions, we can share them. The investigators did say the first seemed more personal, so I think our opinion is more valid. 🤫
Something about how he wanted to either return a bike he bought, said something was wrong with it. But I think it was his weight and they wouldn't refund him for the bike. But when he said he wanted to return it they laughed at him
@@misterslats Pretty sure they warned him prior to purchase about something and said no returns and yet he still tried to return and he was angry. But its been a long time since I heard that story.
@@misterslats Early reports after he first confessed said he killed them because they made fun of him because he was a bigger guy buying a motorcycle. Later articles said he killed them because they wouldn’t allow him to return a bike OR that he suspected them of having something to do with a bike he reported stolen. So it really depends on what source you look at. My point was maybe Chad’s motive was something really dumb like that.
I can only guess that one day he thought 'My football dreams were dashed, I'm divorced and paying child support, I'm a pretend doctor, I live in a trailer, in North Dakota, I'm prematurely bald', and he snapped.
To be honest, yeah. A lot of people can't believe there was no real motive - "It was personal, he stabbed them so many times, he must have hated them" - but the truth is that Chad probably felt like a loser and decided carrying out some murders would make him feel important again.
This is a funny af comment and I agree but maybe he would've had a better life if he kept a better perspective about living in a random trailer park in North Dakota. Low cost of living, low profile and lots of state that you don't have to share with lots of people
Yeah I found that footage particularly haunting. They're moments from some terrible suffering, before it all ends. They have no idea. They're out there finishing cigarettes. This is definitely one of the stranger cases Mike has covered. The total lack of a motive is so odd...
This is one of the scarier stories you’ve shared… Because a guy killing four people with apparently no motive has to be one of the more frightening stories one can come across. The family has no idea why this happened, police have no idea and there’s a chance that the guy who did it has no idea. Strange and absolutely frightening.
It's horrifying. They were doing their jobs and he was so angry that he not only shot but stabbed them. Stabbed them so much and so hard that he bent the knife. Went home and cleaned up like nothing happened, went in to work, gets busted and smiles for the mugshot...never asking why he was arrested. I agree, one of the most frightening he's done.
He's arrested and doesn't ask why? Something was wrong with this guy's reality. The creepiest perps are the one's that give no indication in outward appearance, mannerisms, etc.
For me it kinda looks police should check his mental state, he surely looks sad af and depressed At least one kill was personal and who knows why, maybe something was done to him and he doesnt see a point in defending himself, maybe he has some problems and he was hoping to make someone help end his life? Surely this case doesnt look like all other killers
When you’re arrested they have to tell you what you’re arrested for. So I’ve never really understood well they make a big deal out of the suspect not asking why. Maybe not asking why early on when you first got pulled over? But when you’re arrested it’s told to you
You started this channel, Mike, with a very, very good format; over the years, you have not deviated from it. Hands down, Your voice, attitude and commentary are the best in the business. Thank you for some great viewing.
I was living in Mandan when these murders happened. I remember the fear in our town when he wasn’t immediately caught that this was a serial killer on the loose. I knew people who lost loved ones in RJR, and most people there still can’t drive past there without thinking of what happened. It was a scary couple of days before he was caught.
@@TheRhNegative There are three running theories. 1. Isaak was a hitman for a motorcycle gang that had beef with RJR. 2. Isaak had a mental breakdown from work in the military and snapped. 3. He just wanted to hunt humans for sport. I remember in the trial that the leading theory was the final one as they couldn’t find any links between Isaak and any gangs and that the murders were too premeditated for a psychotic break. I remember one person at the trial noted the weapons used and clothing he wore could’ve been a stand in for camouflage in the night, and that the blaze orange was also a hint toward “hunting.” At this point there’s little doubt that Isaak did it and that he likely had no real reasons aside from him being a sadistic man
That tire rolling through the shop while chad was waiting for them was so chillingly foreboding. Maybe bc I knew what happened next but it just really bothered me. It’s strange.
I'm still not sure how to interpret that. My first thought was, the tire was displaced during a struggle that ensued during one of the murders? Can't imagine any other reason for it to roll into frame like that. Definitely a haunting image. One of several in this video.
Yes this is a strange case...if he had a gun, why use the knife?...it this was planned, why keep the clothes? 16 stab wounds seems like alot of rage and anger....I'm very confused.
I think he was angry with the woman because she had the most stab wounds and to the face too. Your face is like your identity so it’s taking out her identity.
Lindsey S I agree with you. When Mike was listing what happened to each person, I heard what happened to the woman and thought, “Damn…wonder if she is the main object of his rage.” 🤔
What I have learned from Mike. Never get life insurance, only enough to cover my funeral. Never divorce someone and let them have a key to your new home or let them live with you. Especially when you find someone knew. Never cheat. Never rely on my drunk friends for safety or rely on anyone else for a way home. Never tell anyone about the murders I may commit.
Usually when people "snap" they do something on impulse or rage. This was calculated and planned out for some time. However shooting someone followed by stabbing them 40+ times seems to indicate some sort of rage or personal hatred towards the victim(s). I feel there is a lot more to this story unfortunately only the deceased and Chad are the only ones who know the real reason.
@@hazelstreet1654 That's probably true but I think the stabbing was for his own personal enjoyment more than anything else. I think he was fulfilling an urge hes always had

I’m a lawyer and I can tell you in every courtroom across america, there’s a prosecutor telling the jury how wonderful and beloved the victims in the cases were. Beautiful butterflies and pretty singing birds would fly around them and land on their shoulders, to lovingly rub against their head. Here’s a huge photograph of the victim smiling with their family. It’s still illegal to murder assholes, so the victim sucking always annoys me. But praising the victim and badmouthing the criminal is absolutely BIASED. The whole "doesn't have a criminal record" isn't a defense. Everyone doesn't, until they get caught. Who's to say he hasn't done anything violent before and was just never caught? To stab someone is extremely personal. He had a reason, we don't know what it was. Such a senseless act.
Think of it in reverse. It’s like if you apply for a job with no work history, it doesn’t mean you aren’t a good worker or won’t be hired, it’s not a final factor, but it is a factor.
The sheer number of stabbings, totalled almost 100 between the 4 of them says Intense Rage. Personal Offense to something said or done. The extra stabs to the woman and specifically in the face makes me wonder if he tried flirting with her once and it went awful

I did read someone posit that the owner (Robert Fakler) was having an affair (and you know how many affairs in small towns aren't big secrets). Isaak harbored some "kind" of resentment toward Robert for the affair. Because Isaak's marriage had been over for two decades and he had very limited contact with his kid (and he was not in any kind of new relationship). Why punish Robert's infidelities with death for something that has nothing to do with Isaaks divorce- I dunno.

Ya, two of tye victims I think something happened between them cause I feel like he went mental on those 2!
You don't know that maybe he's to tired to do the same thing to other victims, or he had enough

Todd Kohlhepp killed 4 people in a bike shop partly because he thought they “made fun of him.” I wonder if Chad’s motive is something just as asinine.
How did they make fun of Todd? I missed that detail in his story.
I thought the same! It was a revenge thing, maybe they laughed over him?
💀☠💀🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
To be honest, yeah. A lot of people can't believe there was no real motive - "It was personal, he stabbed them so many times, he must have hated them" - but the truth is that Chad probably felt like a loser and decided carrying out some murders would make him feel important again.
You just solved The Why 🥳
This is a funny af comment and I agree but maybe he would've had a better life if he kept a better perspective about living in a random trailer park in North Dakota. Low cost of living, low profile and lots of state that you don't have to share with lots of people
Fair enough then
Broke my heart seeing those poor people on CCTV what was to be their last moments on this earth. May they Rest In Peace.
Yeah I found that footage particularly haunting. They're moments from some terrible suffering, before it all ends. They have no idea. They're out there finishing cigarettes.
This is definitely one of the stranger cases Mike has covered. The total lack of a motive is so odd...
Yes. They looked like they were fully ready to start their day. 😱
Man, they did not know what was about to happen, very haunting.
Perfect amount of, sarcasm, and snark, for such, dark information. Makes these stories, respectful and interesting at the same time. Great stuff!
snark 😂😂😂😂 love it!!!!
This is one of the scarier stories you’ve shared… Because a guy killing four people with apparently no motive has to be one of the more frightening stories one can come across. The family has no idea why this happened, police have no idea and there’s a chance that the guy who did it has no idea. Strange and absolutely frightening.
Agreed. And the brutality he did it with. I hope we (and more importantly) the family will get some closure some day on why he did it.
I now look at people with suspicion. Thanks, Mike!!
There was too much planning on this for him not to know why. He knows why. He's just choosing not to tell.
Or maybe he didn't? Idk just a thought.. seems odd.
He's arrested and doesn't ask why? Something was wrong with this guy's reality.
The creepiest perps are the one's that give no indication in outward appearance,
mannerisms, etc.
For me it kinda looks police should check his mental state, he surely looks sad af and depressed
At least one kill was personal and who knows why, maybe something was done to him and he doesnt see a point in defending himself, maybe he has some problems and he was hoping to make someone help end his life?
Surely this case doesnt look like all other killers
When you’re arrested they have to tell you what you’re arrested for. So I’ve never really understood well they make a big deal out of the suspect not asking why.
Maybe not asking why early on when you first got pulled over? But when you’re arrested it’s told to you
That reminded me of Grant Amado in his arrest.

yep yep yep ❤
I was living in Mandan when these murders happened. I remember the fear in our town when he wasn’t immediately caught that this was a serial killer on the loose. I knew people who lost loved ones in RJR, and most people there still can’t drive past there without thinking of what happened. It was a scary couple of days before he was caught.
Did your community ever figure out where this all came from?
@@TheRhNegative There are three running theories. 1. Isaak was a hitman for a motorcycle gang that had beef with RJR. 2. Isaak had a mental breakdown from work in the military and snapped. 3. He just wanted to hunt humans for sport.
I remember in the trial that the leading theory was the final one as they couldn’t find any links between Isaak and any gangs and that the murders were too premeditated for a psychotic break. I remember one person at the trial noted the weapons used and clothing he wore could’ve been a stand in for camouflage in the night, and that the blaze orange was also a hint toward “hunting.”
At this point there’s little doubt that Isaak did it and that he likely had no real reasons aside from him being a sadistic man
That tire rolling through the shop while chad was waiting for them was so chillingly foreboding. Maybe bc I knew what happened next but it just really bothered me. It’s strange.
What made that so chilling for me was imagining what happened just prior to it rolling into view. The shot of the bent knife tip just made it worse.
I'm still not sure how to interpret that. My first thought was, the tire was displaced during a struggle that ensued during one of the murders? Can't imagine any other reason for it to roll into frame like that.
Definitely a haunting image. One of several in this video.
Yes it is
There's an important piece of the puzzle missing in this one. Statistically, he was very angry with at least one of these people. This was Personal.
@Moby DIll I was thinking Robert as he didn't shoot him only stabbed him. That just seemed odd to me. Why not shoot him like the other 3?
I agree. It's a weird case. Assuming Chad is guilty, and not railroaded, the personal rage of the attacks really makes me want to know the motive.
Mike you always tell a great story. This story has no “why”. It’s strange and disappointing. The families are left with nothing not even a reason.

I believe a lot of the footage would be sourced from the public records of the case available to anyone once it's been through the courts, that's why it's mostly CCTV footage
I’m a truck driver and listen to these videos to keep me entertained. Crazy the things people thing they are gonna get away with
I hope the pup made it to a good home--- looks like a happy one!
RIP to the victims
@Sharon Wolfe
Yessss! I, too, wondered what happened to the dog. Imagine being the dog, and your human is taken away, and you never see them again, not knowing why. And suddenly you're in the pound, and maybe you get adopted, and you miss your original person forever.
I hope the dog got adopted by a good family and is living happily, hardly remembering this monster that once owned him.
Me: *Working from the home office*

What do you do for work @David Santa Carla?
Lol. So true.
Your priorities or spot on
I’ve been at my desk for the last hour watching his videos 🤣
I can see why this is called "The Disturbing Case of Chad Isaak". Just a random Killing for no apparent reason or motive at all.
Always the worst for us viewers because we cant rationalize it as something that wont happen to us. When we hear about a good reason or a reason at all it makes us feel better knowing it wasnt innocent people being targeted. But this is the worst case scenario. Someone doing it.. just simply to do it, & they just happened to win the unlucky lottery..
I thought he said they were going to raise the rent and kick him and his dog out or something
@@lakrishnaclaggett2562 Those were rumors, proven to be false. Around the 15:00 mark.
I think he wanted to be a serial killer and would have done this again and again. Luckily people noticed him and he was caught on cctv.
true but the motive may be obfuscated by the wrong person being accused, I am aware of the evidence but often times matienence people will have access to the homes they service, even trailers. I know that planted evidence feels very 'movie of the week' but it is also not impossible.
also it is not impossible that this dude just went "ah hell these four will do..."

So cute. Hilarious it took me a minute to realize you were saying RJR. 🤣😆
What is on this guy’s laptop? That’s what I want to know? His searches, viewing history? Great find this case....incredible!
I love when Uncle Mike takes us on strange creepy murderous adventures it's always a good time.
Haha I’m glad to hear that
ehh not as creepy as calling him Uncle Mike, tho is it?
He’s only uncle mike when he has that mustache

Yeessss!!! I get SO EXCITED when I see a new video!!😊
Freaking scary that it seemed to come out of nowhere with this guy.

Gotta love catty Mike XD
It's funny 'cause it's true! XD
At least you're not Canadian.
@@twizz420 Had to give a like for Bong Jovi. Best name ever!
That one really cracked me up, I had to rewind a couple of times 😂😂😂
What a strange story to not have a discoverable motive. It truly is hard to realize that murderers walk among us from time to time.
According to this angle, the other 3 murders occured coincidentally ( i.e., they happened to be there).
Mike, my favorite thing about this channel is you, my man. Mix True Crime with a presenter with charisma, and you've got a thoroughly enjoyable channel.
You just made this one so you could say: ORE J ORE over and over again! 😂😂😂love it
Dang. Mike must not love us anymore. He hasn't said it at the end of the last couple videos. 😢
It's ok, Mike, I still love YOU!
He said at the end of Lovejoy video 🥺
He doesn’t want to spoil us yanoow 🤣
But it is nice to hear from our dear Mike!
I think he says what comes to him in that moment, more natural instead of being scripted. Just an observation.
It's always so awkward anyway 😅
Wow I have been watching you for over a year man and was so surprised to see this. This actually happened in my hometown and was such a shock to everyone in the community.
12:12 - "about 7 turdy" - no Mike, let's have it right, it was 7 turdy tree, to be precise in the minds of the That Chapter family.
All the very best to you and yours Mikey. Peace and love from London

We even got an “I luv ya” a couple of videos ago. 😁 So sweet.

Mike and That Chapter…. My absolute favorite true crime guy and channel! Thanks Mike!!!
Since I work in psychiatry, I consider these videos "research" pertinent to my job! Hahaha. That should suffice if my manager catches me watching them right? Haha
JCS would be better
So you get paid to watch that chapter. And they say dreams dont come true
Have you figured out what makes Mike work?
Lol trust me we all come up with an excuse 🤣 unless your whole workplace loves Mike too! I'm so lucky

That's one interesting town, having Jerry Springer for a Judge and Reese Witherspoon for the court stenographer
Haha 😂
Reese Witherspoon though!!!
The total amount of times in total this demon stabbed a human being in this case is horrifying! Unreal there's people like this among us.
Amoongus?????
Totally
It suggests an insane amount of rage.
A M O G U S
The phrase "among us" will never have the same meaning again. Furthermore, amogus.
never understand why ppl like to say “no criminal history, he couldn’t have done it !” everyone has to start somewhere man
True but I'd say most don't choose murder as the start line lol
Pretty sure they say that because the majority of murderers have some sort of criminal background. Generally speaking people don't go from law abiding citizens to murdering multiple people, and all the defense has to do is create reasonable doubt
And all a criminal history shows is how many times an individual has been *caught*. Can't show how many things or what sorts of things he's _gotten away with_....
People just have to get 'caught' for the first time!
Yea plenty Mafia bosses had no criminal history, that just proves they were great at getting away with crime!

Just in time, Mike. It's been a murderous kind of work day and I needed a reminder of why killing annoying people is outside of the parameters set by polite (and sane) society.
Hang in there. 😉
Ain't that the truth, I'll make a wild guess and say you either work retail or have encountered a couple of "Karens". Chin up, we really do outnumber the idiots. Have a great rest of your day
@@dianabodemer1889
“Karen” is an anti-white/anti-female slur that the gov’t meme department pushed into our culture. It’s dumb to parrot it. There’s a million other descriptive words that can be used instead.
But I agree that retail is the worst (but clothing retail to be specific). My most hated job when I was younger before finishing college was working for a clothing store chain named Charlotte Russe. Not only were the customers terrible, but the management and fellow employees were complete nightmares to deal with. I hated every single shift I worked there and could only manage to stay for around 3-4 months max before I left for reasons of sanity.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 do you feel better now?

Where the heck does he get all his puns?! I just love watching this guy. Makes a huge difference in so many crime channels.
Mike's videos have become a regular feature at night, helps me wind down . Despite the dark content, his story-telling is awesome.
I've thought about this,......it's that Mike never loses the victims/family in his telling, just for a laugh.
I just watched this trial. This guy should have just left a flashing neon sign pointing to himself saying "I did it. It was me." He had so much evidence just laying around his house! Some things I found odd. He had 19 pairs of exact same shoes--with no shoestrings. Bought them at Wal-Mart. Never did say what the motive was. He was really animated a few times, during the trial. I just can't get over how he had all that evidence at his house--even after he saw the Deputy(which was his patient) snooping around outside. Crazy to keep all that stuff& not get rid of it. Almost like he didn't care if he got caught.🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
