The Klaus Family Murders
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 авг 2021
- In remote Alberta, Canada, the Klaus family were successful farmers. However, when there was a tragic fire at the Klaus abode, son Jason Klaus was the sole survivor. As the investigation began, Jason would tell of visits by ghosts, with the ghosts telling him some very specific things about the fire, and a certain deer head.

The “undercover” cop literally sounds like he’s conducting a police interview.. and he just told him everything 😭😂
Was just thinking that! Like dude literally sounds like a cop🥲
He even did the whole damn “did we promise you anything, threaten you? You gave this statement freely?” thing! Stupidest criminals of all time, omfg.
Right! Mr big totally makes me cringe, I heard that and thought, here we go! I wouldn't tell that guy anything, he's such a forceful jerk
And the name… “Big Man.” Ugh
Omg they've gotta take the cake as two of the most bird brained criminals of all time 🤦
As a farm-wife I can assure you, the only way a mounted deer head is worth 200 large is if it's stuffed with coke-aine!
I love this comment
As an avid hunter, I can concur!
Yep... Most expensive White Tail Deer (Shoulder Mount) I could find for sale today was $4295.00 American...
For 20k I know a guy who can make you kill and keep a white bear there is no way a deer is worth 200k
😂😂😂
11:30 don't you hate it when you go to steal a deer head but accidentally end up shooting three people, a dog, and setting a house on fire? :/
I hate when that happens!
"Dammit, not again!"
Don't I know it... one moment your finger slips on the trigger, next thing you know the damn deer head goes up in smoke😑
Yeah, happens to me all the time.
I have regrets

When you've watched so many of THAT CHAPTER videos that you think murder is as common as a car accident

I believe it is that common
It is that common
70 people were shot in Chicago over the weekend. That happens every week there.
@@ladysmokebomb it’s not, at least in the US. About 20k people were murdered last year, 38k died in car crashes
The clips of them confessing everything to the undercover cops had me like "Are they really that stupid?? Yes. Definitely."
I know it's hard to believe Lyssa?
But yes they are THAT stupid...
Apparently they have won lots of prizes and trophies for unbelievable stupidity. They make Forrest Gump seem like Albert Einstein.
Oh yea.. The thing is MANY want recognition, they have felt like they are unseen, no attention.. They are the type that will take ANY attention, good or bad.. It makes them feel such a high that they just have to have..
I kid you not, after doing my BS in Forensic Psychology and Applied Behavior and then went on to my MS, I started saying things to my good friends and associates things like,. "Man, I always hope I have good enough friends that if I committed bank robbery they would never tell and just benefit." I laugh and go on.. Then I would say the same but say murder..
Let's just say over 10yrs when I started that, I no longer talk with 6 people and 2 are serving life in prison.. I'm 100% not at all joking...
@@Swnsasy I guess the 2 in prison mistook your comments as encouraging them. ; )
Prison is full of the dumb ones... the smarter ones remain at large for a longer period of time and sometimes never get caught. Thank goodness so many of them are low IQ.
The Mr. Big technique is notorious and very high profile, so I can't believe people don't smell a rat when this sort of thing manifests itself. Although to be fair the technique has in many cases ended up ruling people out and providing new leads - only something like 75% of all Mr. Big encounters snare the guilty party directly.
Wowwww… *that car confession was bone-chilling and disturbed, I had to rewatch it to a few times.*
*How can anyone be that cold blooded and then laugh about it later?*
“I didn’t start the fire… it was always burning since the deer heads been hangin”
"it's been burning since the worlds been turning" ....
That cop is a master of disguise, acting like a friend who sounds like an undercover cop to fool the guys into thinking 'nah, an undercover cop would never sound like a cop'.
🤣
😆 right
Yeah, he was pretty obvious, and corny. Having said that, human psychology makes it unbelievably easy to "con" anyone including criminals. Here in Australia we had a Mr Big operation that helped catch a pedophile and child murderer. Many years after the fact, he led the Mr Big team to the remains of a deceased child. Yet, others are still falling for the same shtick, thank goodness.
Criminals fall for the same guiles the rest of us do - make us think we are special/unique, offer us an upgrade in "status" (in this case, criminal status), stroke our egos (balls of steel/stone cold killer) etc etc. There is no way that guy just "figured out while he was sitting there" how to beat the polygraph by clenching his butt (sphincter). That is google-worthy knowledge, so I guess he could read some.
That's some Jedi level "These aren't the droids you're looking for" reverse psychology there 😂
@@argosz8046 I'm guessing you're talking about the Daniel Morecombe case? That was a brilliant sting. Just when we thought nothing could be found...

@@Suntrippers it's only a pound, no? Never heard anyone use it for euros or dollars...

This is only 2.5 hours south of me, I remember watching it all over the news, such sad and pointless murders. Thank you for covering it Mike. Xo
With my level of anxiety, i fail a polygraph test just looking at it.
I would probably be found guilty of the OJ murders even if I had to take one for fun.
Lie detector tests can give results that are completely inaccurate/unfair
Whether you pass or fail one of those tests is solely up to what the test giver decides anyway, so it's a bit of a moot point.
If you are actively not trying to decieve the machine, you should be fine. Although, I don't really think they are accurate .
Cuz I had a friend who took a test about cheating on his girl. It said he didn't cheat on her ever and she later confessed to it.

I have a family friend who's an investigator. He told me they only employ Mr Big on dumb people. They usually scope someone out first before they decide on the best strategy. Mr Big is great for pompous narcissists who think everyone around them is dumb. That's why everyone always says "How did he fall for that? The guy sounds exactly like a cop!" Well, that's why.
This comment should be pinned lol
22:13 “DO YOU?” That undercover cop is practically salivating at the thought of uncovering that evidence, he can’t help but sound giddy when he’s asking about it. So, you’re telling me that this guy was smart enough to figure out how to fool the polygraph machine as he was sitting there but he can’t pick up on how suspicious this random-ass man’s questions are or the unnecessary enthusiasm he expels over the details of the murder? There’s no alarm bells going off in that guys head saying “It’s a trap!”?
Mr. BIG also sounds like cop to me. I hear no sign of being a real gangstar in that voice. Props to the cops, they knew a country boy needs to cut loose sometime and paint the town red. This was a genius approach.
Most criminals I know are pretty excited to hear a story about crime
It's bc of their psychological make-up. Josh is exhibiting signs of psychopathy & narcissism. His primary goal is feeding his ego, and that goes beyond self-preservation instincts. A psychopath will want to brag and be lauded for depraved behavior. I think the urge to do that would well outweigh any alarm bells cautioning them that it might be a trap. And with Jason, I think his brain was addled by drugs so bad that he was desperate for someone to step in to help him. He also was a narcissist, imo. He'd just killed his supply source bc they had threatened to cut him off of the nipple. A few months of worrying, gnashing of the teeth, drugs, and pressure from the cops, and along comes a saviour... who then vows to take care of everything, much like his parents had in the past. Dependent personality.
You have to remember this guy had committed crimes with them and possibly spent a lot of time with them as well as the other psychological tricks mentioned by the comment poster above. They probably didn't know it was even legal for an undercover cop to do that. Somehow he gained their trust and that should be acknowledged as good work by the undercover guy, he managed not to spook them off and get a full confession. We are only seeing the last part.

I realize THIS guy was guilty as hell, but I always hate it when it’s noted that someone refused to submit to a polygraph test. Refusing one is totally reasonable. There’s a reason they’re inadmissible in court. They’re definitely not accurate and if you’re innocent and fail one the police then have a hard on for you as a key suspect and it can ruin your life. There’s no way in hell I’d ever submit to a polygraph.

They're practically junk science. I totally agree.
@Bahan Simerkh Neither are card reading or astrology, and yet neither are admissible as evidence, for pretty much the same reason
you're basically screwed either way with them. They are usually inadmissible, but they can be admissible under certain circumstances. I don't really remember the details as far as what causes them to be admissible, but I imagine that'd be easy to google. No matter what happens with them you can be made to look guilty, and yeah, if you refuse it they'll just use that against you. Legally if the polygraph is deemed inadmissible they can't even mention that you refused one in court, but that doesn't stop the media from spreading it.
Point-- in this case the actual killer PASSED the polygraph... to hear him tell it, by clenching his butt. Really useful "truth test" there, right?
These elaborate undercover stings that Canadian cops do are pretty ingenious. That's not the first time I've seen mike talk about Canadian cops befriending the suspect for a confession
You're great I just laughed my ass off! Thank you! 😆
In the words of the great American philosopher, Rick James, "Cocaine is a hell of a drug."
CLASSIC!😂😂😂
I was just watching that episode the other day!
Who was on coke in this one!???? 🤔

Pretty sure Rick was Canadian
I am from the town where this from. It’s incredibly embarrassing but mostly sad for the family as they were well respected in the community. I drove past their farm today on my way to my parents, I think of them often…
This one just made me feel terribly sad. Was he being merciful by making sure no one was left alive to live with the trauma and grief caused by such betrayal and loss? What a total pos.
Yes, it must be so hard for the family.
Such a sad case.
I don't understand the embarrassment part... You cant control another persons evil and greed and it shouldn't hold a cloud over you. Feel bad for sure and grieve for the family, but unfortunately humans sometimes commit horrible atrocities.
What did they grow?
Terrifies me that you can love, raise, and support a child their entire life and they can turn on you on a dime.
You are an amazing story teller. Thank you for sharing with us. 🥰❤
bro this dude figured out on the spot how to manipulate the polygraph but never thought it might be a bad idea to confess every detail of a murder, and to a complete stranger no less
That's exactly what I was thinking... there's no way he worked that out by himself, just more of his bullshit and lies.
How did he say he passed it? I couldn't understand what he was saying.

I love all the Canadian stories. Our media doesn't go into many details of crimes or the aftermath of it, always great to learn about my country!
Id love to visit Canada someday! Looks so beautiful!
We also know how to fool lie detector tests!
@@mikec1304 one more reason to come visit 😂
Even if it is learning about how murderous our citizens are...
This is the case for every nation's media, not just Canada's. All the media cares about is the grisly details of a murder and the circus that happens in the legal courts. Everything that happens between and after that period is hardly documented unless there's drama.
I loved the screen saying the gullibility of these guys is astounding
That deer had to have been the biggest, most amazing, jewel encrusted, albino spirit deer perfectly preserved and sewn with gold thread
😂
Or it was stuffed with pure cocaine!

Right there is NO DEER HEAD WORTH $200000. I'M a hunter it would have to be a 3 eyed 2 headed albino deer with 5 antlers even then

The fact that the murderer passed the polygraph is all the more evidence that no one should ever take them.
all you need to pass a polygraph are a handful of beta blockers, like inderal. It totally suppresses autonomic nervous system response. I suppose you can use benzos too, but you might appear faded.
This is just so sad that people do things like this to fellow human beings. I hope the others of the family will rest in peace.
