You've probably figured it out by now but the little black button on the side of the J presser foot is a "presser foot locking pin." It can be used to keep the presser foot level when there are humps to sew over, like a thick seam to cross over. I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Fern

Hi, been looking for a video for this. Your video was easy to understand, Thank you. I know someone asked about using same needles, how about the thread? Thank you,
Emmanuel Nyachoke I was looking at the se1900 but it was way too much $1,200. But then I searched 2 weeks ago and it was down to $800. So I think you just need to keep an eye on it because the prices fluctuate. Crazy!
Thanks for this video. I forgot to ask what software are you using to digitize images. I’m trying to figure all of this out now before making a decision.
I know this is a 3 year old video, but when reinforcing your stitch at the beginning and end, it is best to use a technique called “back stitching.” I tried the way this video shows, and all my stitches seemed to keep falling out. You need to hold the button with the arrow down as you press the foot pedal. You go forward regularly, then press and hold button while also pushing pedal to go backwards, then go over it again going forwards.
A-dubb....is there a way to lower the feed dogs on this machine for free motion quilting? I can't seem to find anyone on youtube that has any details on this machine. So glad I found you on here!
EDIT: It works. I didn't realize there's a switch that activates/deactivates the feed dogs 0.o what's the point of that? Do I need to keep the feed dogs off when I embroider and on when I normal sew? the fabric isn't moving through the feed. the needle just goes up and down and the shirt stays put. is this a dud?
Hey! would you mind telling me where the switch is/how to activate it? I've been having the same problem where the fabric isn't feeding since I switched it to sewing mode and It's been driving me insane.
I never touch the feed dog switch. I don’t ever know where it is. And it’s totally not necessary to touch it at all unless you are doing a specific task that you have to disengage that function. When the machine is in embroidery mode they are automatically disengaged
