Shoutout to Touhou, the longest running indie game series, which has music so iconic it may very well have the most remixes of any video game franchise ever. The amount of dedicated Touhou music arrangement groups is insane. There is a music collection torrent larger than a terabyte.
Additionally, Touhou was a major inspiration for Toby Fox. You can see a lot of its influence in Undertale's music, world, and gameplay!
Favorite 5 touhou jams?
"Flowering night", "Septette for the dead princess", and "nuclear fusion" are solid, but my favorite two are "faith is for the transient people" and "love-colored master spark".

Hey Buns, video game music has to be on of my favorite things in life, so I gotta give you props for taking the time to make a full video about the music you enjoy. Thanks for the content, yo.
I was crying cuzz ff xiii-2 had the one of the stupedest storys ever and yet its one of my favorite games. All tanks to the ost. Im happy thet im not alone in this.
Paradox is such a catchy tune
Agreed. I was frustrated at the story, content with the gameplay, and in love with the music. I now need to go listen to worlds collide for a while...
Honestly FF13-2 is one of the more underrated games in the series. I loved it the first time I played it. I remember comparing it to Chrono Trigger a lot because of all the time travel. Going back to replay it a couple of years ago did reveal a lot of the flaws, though. Still love Caius as a villain, that rad metal Chocobo theme, and Mass Effect. It's also the only game in the trilogy I've actually beaten.

"LET PEOPLE LIKE THINGS, DAMMIT" This is a forever mood, especially in world full of people who like to shit on others for not having the same tastes as them. Also, the title of this video is actually me. Video game OSTs were one of the big reasons why I fell in love with VGs as a kid, and a huge reason why I still love them so much today. I'd love a part 2 of this!
Ok, then listen to a ten hour remix of a below average song or any song for that matter. I don't think is beneficial for the statement "LET PEOPLE LIKE THINGS, DAMMIT" to be used as an applicable philosophy for anything.
Moral of this comment = people like and dislike what you want.
It is applicable if you’re the kind of person who needlessly interjects your opinion where it isn’t wanted. The idea of letting people like things is more intended for those who feel the need to tell others that they’re wrong for liking or disliking something, of which there are a ton of. The moral of my comment? Live and let live. Arguments about movies/games/books etc. just aren’t worth insulting people over just because their subjective opinion is different. People like different things for different reasons. What a concept.
@@astromechas I fucking hate those aloof joyless wank tanks.

The Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 OSTs are by far my favorite pieces of video game music ever written.
Mario music usually is viewed as cutsie and bubbly, and whatnot. But the Galaxy soundtracks... oh my lord does the orchestra give us some miraculous songs. Gusty Garden, Melty Monster, Space Junk Road, *both* Credits Themes, etc.

The moment in Nier Automata when you first hear the City Ruins ost and just hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Okay...
The World Ends With You has one of the greatest soundtracks of all time and every additional arrange or remixed soundtrack they've added over the years has only made it better.
Mother 3's soundtrack is a masterpiece. They put over 250 tracks on a GBA cartridge and almost all of them are excellent.
Breath of the Wild has one of the most underrated soundtracks in the Series but the Entire Zelda Franchise has some god tier composition
The Afforementioned Nier and Nier Automata is next level at capturing and conveying the mood of the series
The Entire Entire Castlevania Franchise is filled to the brim with awesome music from the recognizeable and iconic tracks to even the more obscure bops. Special Mentions goes to Order of Ecclesia for having the most consistent tracklist of heavy hitters in the series (at least for me). Seriously Michiru Yamane is easily my favourite female composer, she only makes gold.
Advanced War has and always will have some of the most catchy and memorable character themes in the industry and you can fight me on that. Even the heavily underrated Days of Ruin has nothing but excellent themes from top to bottom. Special mention to Brenner's theme for going the hardest 24/7.
Final Fantasy got a lot of Love but Shoutouts to Tactics and Tactics advances for the intense mood setting tracks and absolutely lovely compositions respectively.
Metroid. METROID. Nothing nails that atmosphere and catchiness quite like this series. Between totally bangers and songs that just wisk you away to an unknown and almost relaxing vibe, Metroid is definitely on the top of the stack.
Every Ace Attorney Soundtrack slaps and amplifies each wacky or intense scenario. Ace Attorney wouldn't be what it is without it's soundtrack.
Do I need to mention persona? Look there is no bad persona soundtrack, in fact you'd be hard pressed to find a bad SMT soundtrack. Although i feel incline to bring attention to the Devil Survivor series both games have the kind of soundtrack that sets the mood of the entire game although DeSu 2 definitely takes the cake out of the two.
*Wheeeeeeeeze*
Alright that's all i can muster for now.
You got it down. Major props, too, for Metroid, The World Ends With You, and Phoenix Wright. SO good!
Thank you for mentioning advance wars! I’d die for a new game to hear new commander themes

Kirby is my favorite VGM series when it's come to soundtracks. Chrono Trigger is my #1 VGM OST ever, though. Secret of the Forest still reigns supreme as my favorite soundtrack.
And with Star Allies clocking with more than 200 tracks in it's OST with incredible remixes of theme such as Rainbow Resort, Boss theme (Parralel version), Astral Birth (Final version), Amazing Mirror final boss phase 1, Squeak Squad ... etc, It's no matter why we'll always come back to hear the music from such a great series !

And yes, I know Fates had a shitty story and bad characters, but the music, oh god the music ist just great. The best battle themes are "You of the dark", and "You, of the light", or whatever they're called in english. And I'm also really recommending the Tales of- Soundtrack. I know Symphonia 2 was kinda bad. But the music is still beautiful. Ten years ago, I never would have thought a video like this would exist. Growing up, I was picked on a lot for the fact that I enjoy video game music so much and that even to this day, it's most of what I listen to. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I finally met someone incredible who shared my passion for video game music, especially music from the Persona series, but seeing now that people like you are expressing their love and passion for these works of art is an absolute breath of fresh air, if you ask me. I've always loved video game music. Even as a little kid, I'd pause games on my GameBoy to listen to songs from certain areas, and now I compose my own OSTs from years of obsession with video game music. Seeing more and more people openly expressing their love for these masterpieces makes me happy. Everyone deserves to have something to be passionate about. Passion is what makes life worth living, as long as that passion doesn't involve hurting others or putting other people's opinions down. (Like you said, music is subjective. Everyone's allowed to like whatever they like.) All this is to say thank you. This video hits home for me in such a positive way, and I really appreciate it.
For me, I love Pokémon Sword and Shields Gym Leader theme. Like holy shit it’s amazing. It’s so fast-pass and really makes you feel like your putting on a show that thousands of people that are watching. Hey Tyler, this is unrelated to music, but I want to thank you for inspiring me to be a more authentic version of myself, through your videos and personality. Happy Holidays, and keep doing what makes you happy.
Final Fantasy 6 on SNES opera. It didn't have vocals, exactly, but you could almost hear the words as they came on screen. It was brilliantly localized, and the audio, especially for the SNES, was fantastic.
The second you said you liked lyric songs I instantly got rules of nature stuck in my head
My playlist consists exclusively of Touhou remixes...and I've never even played a Touhou game!
Same. I still don't know who UN Owen is and who "her" was supposed to be but I'll be damned if I don't keep going back to that song multiple times per month.
@@Gameshunter3012 I know right? Its so good. Have you listened to any remixes, or just the original songs?
I got into the games back in 2012 all BECAUSE of the soundtracks. Deaf to all but the Song convinced me I had to actually play whatever game it was associated with.
No regrets. I love the games.
Sounds like my playlist, which are Touhou remixes and soundtracks from Falcom games like Ys and Trails series.
@@Gnidel I am playing through Trails in the sky right now, and OH MY GOD THE MUSIC IS GREAT AND ESTELLE IS GREAT I LOVE HER SO MUCH
Xenoblade Chronicles has too many grand tracks to count and really sets the mood for wandering around and just sets the cutscenes up
ZeroScytheKing I literally had to buy Our Eternal Land because I couldn't get it out of my head. So fucking good.
That game has some legendary sound tracks. An Obstacle in Our Path is probs my fav song
Pretty alright, not so legendary,
@@JayceCH. I get the feeling you haven't listened to the 3 soundtracks. Do yourself a favor and treat your ears to that goodness.
You have great taste. Also, I had totally forgot how much I loved Become One from Transistor, so thanks a lot for mentioning it near the end!
I'm always happy to see an upload from you. You always make me laugh and I thoroughly enjoy your content.
Wait did someone say Philistine Japanese version? Huh it somehow started playing on loop on my computer... weird how that happened.
I just found out your channel, I'm barely halfway through the video, and you have me laughing out loud which is not something that happens often. Your commentary is amazing and I'm so happy to see more people share appreciation for video game OSTs (NieR will forever be the death of me) so I'll be sure to check out more of your videos!
Considering that you mentioned Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, and Bayonetta in one video, I kinda want to see a Kingdom Hearts game developed by Platinum games.
“This is it!” RULES OF NATURE
Metal chocobo is a lifestyle.
But everyone deserves to partake in such intense frivolity now and then
The QUEEN is back...
Makes a video on video game music but doesn't include Jet Set Radio Future OST...GODDAMNIT BUNS!!! Still an excellent video.
MetaVanAJ Jet Set radio ost is in another league of game music been 7 years since I played it i still got the music in my head XD
JSRF's soundtrack fucking RIPS. God I miss that game.
Not gonna lie -- "JSRF" were the first four letters I was going to drop here. My personal dream is to have a moment so head-smashingly epic that it will have to be set to "Concept of Love".
_Surviving_ said moment is optional, but would be nice.
The World Ends With You is one of my favorite games of all time, with my favorite video game soundtrack of all time.
WOW Thank you so much for giving MGSR some love, this is such a fun game!!!! I love the character design, gameplay, and yes those tunes pump up the feelings the each of the battles.
The only ost you’re missing is Halo 1-3 plus reach and ODST
Face My Fears gets better every time I listen to it, and the full version isn’t even released yet! Couldn’t agree more!
I recently discovered Buns and I love how free / transparent / sometimes aggresive gets when commenting, I'm here for all of it xD
I’ve officially become a fan of this channel. Not sure if I’ll actually commit to subscribing but I’ll definitely watch. Also, Twister from the original DS trailer for TWEWY was such a bop, it personally made me want to get the game. Definitely worth it.
Good video game osts? Here's a few that come to mind:

Octopath Traveler (There's a song on this ost that sounds strikingly similar to Decretum from Madoka)
Just to name a few.
Oh man Ridge Racer Type 4 is one of my favourite original OST for a racing game.
I remember when i played Rayman Legends recently, the best were the music levels
I love Warframe's This Is What You Are and We All Lift Together. They are great examples of free to play games coming out with amazing soundtracks.
man...does Warframe even count as free to play?
From all that I have heard about Warframe, it's as representative of free to play games in general as a nuclear bomb is representative of 4th of July fireworks.
@@charlieterry8506 What do you mean? It has one of the fairest free to play models on the market i would say. Everything is available to you for free except cosmetics and you only need premium currency to speed things up really.
Octopath traveler's OST is so good. It makes you feel feelings at each boss fight or story moment and it just fits the feel of the game extremely well. Decisive Battle II and Battle at Journey's End are my personal favs
You probably the best reviewer ever and super funny I love your energy
