The 70's was filled with huge hit songs. Thank God for the song writers, like Thom Bell and the late great Linda Creed. The group the Stylistics were on the radio with all their amazing songs that still sound like hits today in 2021.

Most people don't know that Russell Thkmpkins Jr sang and recorded these songs alone without the other 4 Stylistic steppers. They weren't even in the recording studio for first 3 albums or the 14 traight top hjts. It was just Russell and backup singers were Thom Bell, Linda Creed, Kenny Gamble. BUNNY Seigler, Leon Huff and ladies called Philly Angel's This song used the MFSB studio singers.. Russell was the Stylistic voice and sound for over 30 years until he quit in 2000 and started his own group Russell Thompkjns Jr and New Stylistics. 🎶⭐🎶

Oddly enough I thought this was just studio musicians...little did I realize this was MFSB. The Stylistics alone was enough to sell this album for me. But, the eerie and lush arrangement of the "bridge" is just stellar. Children of the Night...the meaning was so multifaceted and edgy for the 70's. And because of the length..the radio stations were very reluctant to play the full album cut...except for a few late night FM stations. Lucky for me...living in Detroit/Windsor Ontario I was graced with many a nights listening pleasure. Nice to hear this extended version...THANKS!!!

You can say Stylistics but it was Russell Thompkins Jr singing this song with studio backup singers...Thom Bell , Leon Huff, Kenny Gamble, Bunny Seigler, Linda Creed and the Philly Angels singing backup. The other 4 Stylistic steppers weren't even in the recording studio. It was all Russell Thompkins on first 3 albums and 12 straight top hits. Airion sang few lines on 2 of the songs. " You Are Everytbing" and " You make me feel". Facts. 💫🎶

For some reason I never made the MFSB connection, I just knew that it was GOOD! Got plenty of airplay too! According to discogs.com at least 4 singles from this album alone were released! Its a great song, well written, well produced. The voices, strings....classic.

Late at night when all the world is safe
Within their dreams, I walk the shadows
Late at night an empty feeling creeps
Within my soul, I feel so lonely
So I go into the darkness of the night
All alone I walk the streets until I find
Someone who is just like me
    Looking for some company
    Children of the night
Late at night a restless feeling takes
Control of me and I can't fight it
Late at night I feel the need for someone
    Who like me needs understanding
So once again I'll search the darkness of the night
All alone I'll walk each street until I find
Someone who is just like me
Looking for some company, no, yeah, hea
    Children of the night
So once again I'll search the darkness of the night
All alone I'll walk each street until I find
Someone who is just like me…
