The Delfonics is one of the best ever.
William had one of those voices that could never be duplicated.
A young Ron Tyson was the closest I've heard that could touch William Hart's voice.
@@brodocbetty4856 : think you mean Ron[nie] Dyson - but, ABSOLUTELY true.....
@@ogam5, brodocbetty4856 meant RON TYSON, the lead singer of the “ ETHICS “ ( sad sad story / farewell/ think about tomorrow ) he also is first tenor with the Temptations, he sounds in my opinion nothing like William Hart , but very similar to Ted Mills the lead singer of “ Blue Magic “ !!!
@@DoeJames-vt1pb: yeah, I realized that AFTER posting my Comment - THANKS for keeping me HONEST though, Doe!
@@ogam5 , NO problem at all , also THOM BELL did NOT produce the “ Tell me this is a dream album , this was produced by “Caldwell McMillan” whom Wilbert found and felt he was the closest to Thom Bell in his sound , Caldwell was great , and i STILL haven’t been able to find ANY pictures or articles about him !!!
I worked for a promoter in the 70's, the Delfonics were one of the east coast groups we'd bring ti the West... I became friends with Wilbur & very familiar with the "Hart family" struggles (the business is very hard on families & marriages as well)... what hurt me was one day, while speaking with their mom, she started crying, William had struck her... I don't know where his head was...but it has stomach turning ... the hurts these guys went through... horrible. So glad to know Wilbur & his wife Sheila are standing strong, they were high school sweethearts!!
Are you saying that William Hart struck his mother ? I couldn’t understand who was struck .
@@DoeJames-vt1pb yes sir...William did...and it hurt to hear her crying...I had moved to NYC at the time working in business at a company called Associated Booking Corporation...I almost threw up...I never saw him in the same way...just stepped back and prayed for everyone...couldn't get personal and keep my position there. Did you know the Harts?
@@jaxeejess831 , thanks for the reply , no I didn’t know them but I met William , Randy , Major Harris, and a fourth guy that was on stage with them , at a free concert in the parking lot of Harlem Furniture here in Chi**go ( you know how certain words get removed from comments ) in 1997 or 1998 , and the Floaters and Dennis Edwards and the new temptations , the temperature was 100 degrees that day , and the furniture store let everyone come inside until the concert started and it was air conditioning inside and they let people sit on chairs, beds , some of the concert is on RUclips . They came down after they performed and shook hands and talked with the people , I told William I used to imagine I was him and would try to sing like he did and that he was my idol , that made him feel so good that he MADE me hug him !!! A friend of mine that passed a few years ago used to play guitar with some guys in a band whenever they could get together, I think he said this happened in the 90’s at a hotel they played in and the O’jay’s were there and he saw Eddie Levert slap the hell out of his wife and she didn’t say anything 🤷🏿♂️ maaaan !!! I’m 70
And in 1962 in the Woodlawn area on the south side when i was 8 years old i met the family of Colostine ( the prostitute doing all the talking in Cooley High ) Boatwright she had to be 22-23 and her second oldest brother was the same age and we used to get into tons of mischief getting older boys 14-16 to chase us from talking about thier mama’s or thier shoes etc , she didn’t live at home and i only met her twice , she’s still living and should be 82-83 now , she sometimes calls Dorothy Tillman on Dorothy’s talk show Saturday morning 6:00-8:00 AM on ,WVON 1690 AM . One of my ex postal co workers only sister out of 7 boys is the Legendary Chi**go soul singer from 1966-74 ??? Jo Ann Garrett who had the hits “
Stay by my side “ “ one woman “ I’ve never met her but her brother Larry let me speak to her on the cellphone in 2007 , she’s still living I think she’s 75 . You can type in her name and her the songs , they are classics from here , the soulful sound of the Windy City !!!
@@jaxeejess831 , MAAAAN I wrote a little more back to you than your reply to me and they scrapped it 🤦🏿♂️ I’m in the Windy City Born and raised , no I didn’t know the Hart’s !!! I’ll reply some more , these demon’s are something else !!!
I met William , Randy , Major , and a 4th guy at a free concert here in 1997-98 in the parking lot of Harlem furniture store where the concert was , some of the concert is on ( you know what site we’re on now ) and Dennis Edwards and the Floaters were there also .
Gone but not forgotten
NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!!!!! 👍🏾😳😉👋🏾
When the Motown sound faded in the early 1970s, The Philly sound dominated the 1970s and was known to create the disco genre.
@@garymayfield5995 the same planet your mama came from dumbass
@@garymayfield5995 The motown sound of 70s didn't have that identifiable style that 60s motown had
@@garymayfield5995 Motown did have not the hold on the music scene in 70s that it did in 60s Dianna ross stevie Marvin Gaye the jackson 5 eddie kendricks the Commodores true they had hits but the spinners left motown and gladys knight and the pips the four tops left as by the mid 70 the temptations had fallen off the ojays and the spinners were the top groups acourse smokey was a mainstay rick james helped them though the late 70s and early 80s everybody has their opinion but still there will never be a great era for music like that again
Philly Sound was being ran by the Philly Black Mafia. Black Mafia has their hands in the pockets of the Delfonics
this is gona take a lot of flak but here goes.
Please remember this is NOT a insult.
the Jackson5 ended the motown sound.
They changed the trajectory of music. then, of course Michael changed ALL music FOREVER.....but that was a bit later.
Rest In Peace Michael

Timeless classics 👍 Never again will you ever get that sound. Imitated never duplicated!!!!

The Delfonics were one of my all time favorite groups.

William HART was a Kind Man,with a VOICE FROM HEAVEN
The Delfonics are The Sound Of Philadelphia They Made Philly Proud
I would come up from DC to see these Guys. They were "all that" boy, I'm getting goose bumps just thinking back❤❤❤
The Delfonics ! Enough said!
Lights burnt brightly if briefly for the dazzling Delfonics . When the Delfonics said LaLa La means I love you, lovers around the world grooved to it.
Thanks for this video. I listen to one of their songs everyday. 🎵
I was a keyboard player at Philly Groove with Stan Watson in 68’. The Delfonics were stars. Thom Bell was there producing/writing and arranging. He was a genius !
@dfreeman120 so true about Tom Bell (who was from Jamaica where most of my family was from) - but let's not forget his co-writer Linda Creed, they were a great team!
@@jaxeejess831 , 🇯🇲 ❤️🖤💚
Great content. I love the delfonics music I grew up on it. Can you do one on the moments please?
No body can't never ever take his place
Thanks for making this video. Such great music. Sadly, another artist shafted by a greedy manager, it happens way too often.
I love his voice
Delfonics were the background music of my first love..I remember the best time in my life...a tear still comes to my eyes. Still to this day...incredible music x❤
@spankdaplank7774 I worked with a promoter named Billy Ethridge, the Delphonics were the headliners and surprise, surprise...the Commodores opened for them!!! Who would think Lionel Richie would blow up like he did...but Lionel knew how to write music and play piano...(the most important instrument of a writer/composer)! Great that you had that wonderful experience sir!!!
One of my favorite bands. Very unique.
I was on the phone back in the day and in the back round in my apt I was playing for the love I gave to you by the Delphonics and the oporater at that time feel in love with me on the phone and we dated.wow .
He was sosososo underrated
He was sosososo superb
In the '70's I was playing bass in Freddy Parris and the Five Satins. We were on the bill with the Delfonics who headlined the show at the Schubert Theater in Philly. This was their home and the huge place was sold out and the crowd was wild with love for their heroes. It was one of the best gigs of my life.

Still listening in 2024, brings back memories of yesteryear. They were innovative and never duplicated. RIP, thanks for the memories.
Old school music… I Love it!!! I remember listening to this music when I was young… my mother had a great ear for music. Great job young man, keep up the good work!!!!
I love the Delfonics I just hope that the 2 Brothers made up before William passed RIP
Unfortunately, my understanding was...they didn't...the business, when egos are involved, can be cruel...it loves prideful folks, enjoys chewing them up and spitting them out 😢.
Nice to learn about the history of the Delfonics, I have been a fan since the late sixties and continue to listen in 2024.
In the 70s r&b groups sang real songs tan it is ashame music changed a lot.
I really love this group. I have two imports on them. This was a very nice story. I truly enjoyed it.
❤❤❤ my favorite group shout out to the Uptown in Philly!!!
My favorite R&B group period…
1 of my favorite groups ,I am going to sing Break A Promise at karaoke I soon I love all their songs beautiful group and sound

Thank you 4 this, and Thank unsung👍💯 i went out and Brought a lot of The delphonics T-shirts and i wear them proudly.
🏆 there is a TON of Excellent Amazing Priceless history/info in here!!!
Seriously, some of this stuff i have wonder about for YEARS!
Well Done.
i remember the music, it was magic, i truly thought it would never end. Ok it never did "END" but it changed, and that worked out good too.
Thank You
🌞
A little edition about Randy, he fell in love with a young lady and their relationship was more important than the business... dig a bit and you will see I'm correct...once again appreciate your vid.
I love his style
Born and rises in philly
I miss him
He was sosososo phenomenal
I wish Stan had been a better Stewart for the Delphonics and gave them their fair share in earnings.God sits high and looks low.
Loved all of their songs.❤
Thanks musicians have to learn the business very sad
He was sosososo bless
Delfonics are the best, I'm listening still, the beautiful voice I'll never forget..
Great doc on them sangin fellas 4real
We all the the temps were king as far as singing groups, but when I was a kid in 1968 and first heard the Delfonics , I just knew that I had never heard anything like them before.
I can listen to Willie and Russell of the Stylistics 24/7/365
That’s a damn shame these 2 brothers couldn’t get along
You can't get along with everybody in this world, even family members. That's just how it is.
Good video 😀
Excellent video! For those only familiar with the hits, I suggest you give "I Told You So" a listen.

What about the collaboration with Adrian Younge
Sorry, but you lost me at “Romantic music never went anywhere.”
At least give the video a try instead of giving up over a statement that was made in my opinion there are still artists who still make that good old R&B music.
❤🎉🎉🎉
GTA 5
That red men sing with your home men red don't need to sing all got id be a show pick he dam ssuper fly back ot life
@WBPTV LLC - thanks for the upload - wish I could spend more time watching other vids of yours, but working on a multi million dollar project...hope you get many $ubscribers! Wish you the best sir! Hey came back to tell you, I wrote a song for them and told them they needed to "stretch themselves" some more or they'd fade away ... they did :-(
Music like this just isn’t around anymore
EXCUSE ME?!? "ROMANTIC MUSIC NEVER WENT ANYWHERE?!?" Obviously, you have LOST YOUR MIND! How old are you young man? As an "OLD SKOOL ROMANTIC," I am THROUGHLY OFFENDED by that comment! "LA la means I love you," The Delphonics, "Baby, baby don't cry," Smokey Robinson, "Please, return your love to me " The Temptations, "I've got so much to give," Barry White. I've got thousands more but, you can see where I'm going with this. Black R&B artists INVENTED and MAINTAINED romantic music! And, I do believe you'd better GIVE THEM THEIR PROPS!! Evidently, YOU haven't been around long....or LONG ENUFF!
This video was done years ago but I do believe when I made that comment I was referring to R&B music of today.. it’s not romantic everything is about shaking butt or getting money
No body can't never ever take his place
