The Pointer Sisters are so underrated. I can't believe their song I'm So Excited didn't hit number 1. That song was played everywhere when I was a little girl.
I was the Stage Manager and bodyguard, Driver, they put my name on the sleeve of the record on the Black and White album, Crew members, the girls were very nice, the band members were super cool.
Automatic is my favorite song from the Pointer Sisters. Loved Ruth's deep raspy voice. I literally cried when Anita passed away. I always thought of them as my Aunties. 🙂❤️😢💔 #RIPAnita
The BEST Pointer Sisters songs started in the 1980s, they were MEGA HITS,😊 SLOW HAND, FIRE, HE S SO SHY, I AM SO EXCITED, DARE ME, NEUTRON DANCE, JUMP THESE WERE great JAMS💥💯💯💯.
A GREAT video about The Pointer Sisters. Yes. I would like to see individual videos about each sister. I learned something new about the sisters. I didn't know they were around that long. Keep up the excellent work!!!!! 🏆
I liked don’t take the 5th… my mother had all of their albums and a few 4 5…. Back in the days 4-5 was small records. These sisters was one of my favorites. Your videos takes me back to my childhood. Great video young man.
Yes and “Send Him back” , they definitely tried to mirror them as the Honey Cone’s when they recorded in Muscle Shoals I’m glad they established and found their own sound with the jazz standards on the Blue Thumb records to become one of the greatest female groups
I looooooooooooooooove The Pointer Sisters and reminiscing over their music, brought back so many great memories from the 80s... Thank you! Glad to see at least one of them is still with us! I didn't know they have brothers... Ase' to this beautiful musical family and to you for the post! Yes, an individual video would be great!
Just stumbled on the channel to check out more after watching a 2012 performance of the Neutron Dance. :’) Thank you for these amazing videos! These stories are so inspiring and deserve to be heard and shared! Much Love! 🤍🤍🤍
Your video popped up on my page so I clicked on it . I love The Pointer Sisters so it had my interest. Thank you for the good commentary, it was very informative. I would love to hear and see an individual video of each sister, you have a new sub!
You left out Slow Hand, one of their biggest hits. You also left out Baby Come & Get it from the Break Out album, which hit in early 85 as a follow up to Neutron Dance
I just found out your chanel and I love the content...very well put together..all the info...I am a girl groups addicted so I obvsly love the Pointers...it would be great if you could do a video about June...her life was beautiful and sad at the same time. I just realised you already did a June and another Bonnie video♡
These beautiful ladies were a big part of my childhood in the seventies. Car Wash was the first song I ever heard from them and I Loved It. I was an 8 yr old white child in a black school and neighborhood and I learned to dance with the best of folks. The Bump was popular then and on rainy days we would stay inside the school and dance to music for P.E. I actually became a pretty dang good dancer thanks to my friends and won a couple of contests back in the day. But, that's where I learned to Bump. When "Fire" came out years later, I was sold!!! So beautiful the harmony that I fell in love with these ladies and still am. They helped frame my childhood and their beauty and harmony completed me. They are Amazing and I love them still.
Great video about The Pointer Sisters. I'm a big fan of the group and I love their music. Yes i would like to see you do individual videos about each sister and that would be great. Keep up the good work and can't wait for the next video soon Strive for excellence.
"❤🎉 Love THE POINTER SISTERS, You Did A Great Job Reporting Of Their Career, I Once Saw A Tribute To Anita 😢 That Showed Two Pictures Of Bonnie, The Reporter Did Not Care To Make Sure The Pictures Were All Of Anita, Sad"...😢
Thanks for the group profile. Sad how it turned out, but what a wonderful legacy left by them. Respect to the sisters and thank you for the research/upload.
Yes I would like to see that I did not know that they went through so much thank you for your program and yes I would like to know a story about yes about each and by buy they sell
I love them and have a big collection including photos. Bonnie is my favorite followed by Ruth. I love early Pointer Sisters best. I have multiple copies of Live At the Opera House and the first album. I recently turned 50 but I have been a fan since I was 19.
@@DavidLopez-jl2ug Me too, early Pointer Sisters, the first few years, I was in high school, and I just loved them. I don't know that I had a favorite . . .
they never get a mention when people talk of the greatest girl groups. But they made incredible music & could really sing. I literally just watched that we are the world netflix docu & 2 of the sisters were in the RIP list at the end credits.
Little Pony and Salt Peanuts was my go to song for vocal rehearsal with my friend. We were about 12! They were jewels and they're legacy of excellent and unique styling will last forever ❤
Yolanda, I'm a huge fan. My collection is huge. Yes, albums, CDs, footage on DVD video, and photos. The 70s Pointer Sisters with Bonnie is my absolute favorite. How Long (Betcha Got A Chick On the Side) is my favorite but I love everything including the Duke Ellington Medley from the Steppin' album. I love how they harmonize and share leads.
Very well done video. I'd learned more about that. i wasn't aware of. In particular, the Motown connection. I knew that one of the sisters married one of the Motown producers. But I wasn't aware that one of the other sisters married 'The Temptations' singer Dennis Edward's and had a daughter together. I remember Edward's daughter after he'd passed away. But never made the connection. Th8s is a big to me because I'm from the Detroit area. But live near Oakland now. I've always said that the music in both the Bay area and the Detroit area were equal with raw talent. And 'The Pointer Sisters' are cut from that cloth. I remember their songs, "chick on the side" and "yes, we can ." But I was around 7 years old and didn't know who they were. But I do remember the groups name when I was a kid. Especially during the early 80s when I was in high school. It's sad at how their lives ended. Both health and relationships. I feel that their fathers firm religious beliefs that he'd put on them played a major role in rebellious and the drug issue. Getting a taste of freedom from one extreme and going the other extreme is like a smoker trying to cold turkey. Anyways. If you haven't done the individual's biography. I'd like to see it. In particular, the dark skin singers battle drugs. Last. All 4 of those women were beautiful and sexy.
Saw the Sisters at Caesars place in 78..90m minute show with 7 costume changes One of the best shows have ever been to of the more than 1000..They were special
The Elvin Bishop reference photo in this video is not Elvin. It's Mickie Thomas of Jefferson Airplane. But Mickie sang lead, uncredited on Elvin Bishop's song, Fooled Around and Fell in Love.
When the Pointer Sisters suddenly arrived on the national scene in 1973, they were unique in their sound as well as their look. Like millions of other people, I immediately liked and admired them for not being like any other act at that time - not to mention for their outstanding, brilliant talents too.
June was my favorite. I'm so troubled learning of all her difficulties throughout her career. I always wondered why she was sometimes out of it or looked like she was doing her own thing compared to Anita and Ruth in videos.
I can't say I know a lot about the Pointer sisters. Interviews and watching some programs, of course the Top songs that was played on the Radio or on TV. I heard about the feud, I thought it was Sad that Sisters who made a name for themselves, had a successful Group. Would fall out, and other Family members filled in. I guess most of what I heard could of been Gossip. They had some great songs that's still being played today. Sad when I'd hear one Sister had passed. I hope they had made peace ,and Forgave Each other. They were Sisters that was in this together. I know how Ego, Drugs can cause feelings to change. Because I have Sisters and a few of us has Grown Apart. Yes, I'd love for you to do each sister separately, and tell about their lives, what caused them to split up. Didn't one write a Book?. I know firsthand how Sisters no matter how close they was growing up,no matter how much they loved each other. At some point one will go off in another direction, it can be hard to talk to somebody who don't want to listen. Losing a Parent can cause changes. I'm sure there are things that haven't been said. I have learned not everything in print is true. I have Enjoyed what you have shared. So Thank You. I Always learn Something.👍👏👏👏. Love, respect and positivity always. Neita James. ✌🖖🙌🕯🌻💖🙂👋.
The Pointer Sisters are a phenomenal R&B group. Ruth, Bonnie, Anita & June are so sexy and gifted. Their classics for me are so excellent and for me Dare Me thirty-eight years ago my fav. RIP Sister Bonnie, Sister Anita and Sister June
The Pointer Sisters are so underrated. I can't believe their song I'm So Excited didn't hit number 1. That song was played everywhere when I was a little girl.
not just #1 but it peakd at #30 & #9(remix) which Im shocked about.
That blew me away too.. I can’t see how thats possible.. Unless it was going up against singles from Thriller and Purple Rain albums.. Then i guess..
I was the Stage Manager and bodyguard, Driver, they put my name on the sleeve of the record on the Black and White album, Crew members, the girls were very nice, the band members were super cool.
