It's kind of funny how in the first cartoon, Satan/Lucifer/the Devil had a point. I mean, there is so much misery in the world with the God of the Bible in charge.
Also, as far as the Gospel Gary one... I went to public school when I was a child and I don't remember anyone being invited to talk about God. If anything it would cause a scandal. I have no problem with people praying in public schools if they want to or bringing in their own religious literature for themselves, but I don't want someone to be invited to proselytize my kids... and I don't even have kids.

The problem is that these cartoons are not just teaching kids about evil, but fear-mongering to them. Sure, they’ll learn about evil eventually, but that doesn’t mean it has to be through, for example, seeing a depiction of someone nailing Jesus to a cross. One cartoon, I don’t remember which, was also incredibly dishonest in addition to the fear-mongering when they had a terrifying-looking Satan making arguments against Christianity. The goal there was to equate questioning Christianity with the devil and scare kids away from even entertaining those ideas when they encounter those or similar arguments in real life.

@@LizzStewarteveryone is evil and everyone is good, see evil and good are subjective, but even though its subjective it doesn't give anyone the right to harm others which is more blatantly evil in my book, but yeah even the god of the bible is evil, only problem is he is evil because well he is selfish, he allows harm to come to others and when we try to stand on our own that is a sin, he wants us to be reliant on him and not allow us to grow on our own

Yes I was raised on that book myself but I’m happy about it. The fact of life is God exists as we all are proof of. He created all the Universe but so many individual creatures have left his guidance to fully engage selfish and some evil thoughts and actions. There are unspeakable horrors occurring all over the universe. God will act to stop these and has countered them by destroying sometimes entire armies in war as the record of history tells the tales. If He didn’t do this we will all wind up as slaves doing whatever evil persons wish for their evil pleasure.

I attend different churches in my life mission. I try to show the Bible’s truths over what the churches are teaching. It’s very hard and seemingly useless because arguments occur many times. But getting the truth to people is what Jesus wants us to do as it can mean their salvation.
One huge problem I fight is Hellfireand damnation doctrines which most churches in the Deep South hammer into the children’s minds from birth. What the Paradise Book shows doesn’t hold a candle to what is being served up every Sunday here in my deep southern state and I just cannot quit this ministry. I have a huge fight on my hands but I can’t stop going although I take breaks of weeks or months. Then I overcome the sorrow of failure and go to another church and try again to reveal Bible truth

My experience in public school was no religious stuff but once I went to a public college, I got to see people proselytize quite a bit (never forced on us by the university, but did not stop the people doing it). I studied philosophy in undergrad so in my medieval philosophy class I was allowed to do Q&A with a pastor but he was very nice (and didn't try to "win souls") so I had no issue with it. All religious ed in my childhood was through Sunday school at my local church but I remember nothing from it other than the person in charge of it being a total jerk and some of the kids being obnoxious. My father went to school back in the 50s/60s and apparently he had to go to some Christian education stuff even though he went to public school. Why is something I never got and seemed alien to me. Even odder, I am a Florida native so guess I got super lucky back in the 90s/2000s.

Two scriptures that JWS should think about ....
    1 John 4:1 ......
[1] Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
    Revelation 20:10 .......
10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

It's absolutely infuriating, seeing how low many Christian groups will go to try & scare kids into falling in line, all in the name of "God". I grew a Christian (don't remember which denomination, but it was they were pretty chill compared to the people spewing this garbage), but now consider myself Agnostic, & still hold close ties with my family. The 1 Christian cartoon I remember as a kid, was Veggie Tales (the 90-early 2000s stuff, not the modern stuff). That show, which Christian, did teach a lot of great lessons to kids, like how a fib can grow out of control, or don't be afraid, as God will protect you. (the 2nd 1 comes with 1 of my favorite songs from the cartoon) They didn't always put religious messages into their episodes, only saving it for when it was a good, meaningful inclusion. Along with reading a few relevant verses & giving a small lesson, at the end to wrap up the episodes.
If you are taking recommendations for you later parts, Wally, I do recommend classic Veggie Tales. As it can be a good palette cleanser with all this modern 2-dimensional (at best) Christian propaganda flying around these days.

The media is warning us a big one can come anytime, so I told my jw sister who lives in other part of country please pray hard to Jah, earthquakes are ENOUGH, enough is enough! Pray for my safety! The idea of Jesus somehow cancelling the sin of Adam is an odd one. If it's right, then why isn't there a corresponding ransom for the sin of Eve? After all, the written account says both Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit. If there is to be a corresponding balance, then there ought to be a female Jesus (for the want of a better expression) to be executed as well. God is nothing if not pedantic, so I'm surprised such a double sacrifice wasn't catered for; or don't women count?

Hello. LDS Member here. (Yes Mormon) We do not have shunning in our church. I don't know where you got that idea from, but not once did my parents or anyone in my ward shun another person for leaving the church. There is no disfellowship or shunning for leaving. We believe in the law of Agency. It is their choice if they want to leave, and as members of the church, we allow them to make that choice, judge free. I've made a few mistakes that my church found out about when I was little. Did they shun me? No. They helped me to overcome what was happening. I get that maybe you see our religion as a bit weird, and honestly, I don't blame you, but what I don't get is believing false notions about us.

Then again, my school had guest speakers to push abstinence and disengagement from pop culture that advocates illicit/illegal activities (read: rap music) but the speakers pretended they were doing what they did for secular reasons.

Hi Wally and Zeezy 🐈‍⬛ Caleb and Sophia seem tame compared to some of these. However the indoctrination is the same tactic. Listen to us or die ,Fear is a great motivation 😈

If someone died by crucifixion in a movie and they showed the detail of nails being hammered into their hands, that movie would instantly get an R rating. But showing it happening to Jesus in a "kids'" cartoon is totally okay. 😒

Hey Wally, I grew up a Jehovahs wittness too I went to school and I can confirm there were Bible classes at elementary aka primary school in NZ where a Bible teacher came to talk to the class, I never knew what about though as I was always taken out of class for that I assume just telling Bible stories or somthing it wasn’t a religious school

We had that in Australia too, I was never there for it (XJW). I don’t think they do it in public schools anymore (because it’s discriminatory to atheist’s & non-Christian’s), but my friend who sends her children to a private school regularly gives them a lesson on critical thought to counter the religious aspect of it (which thankfully isn’t much).

I guess the governing body members are oblivious to any feelings children may have
as they have never had children so have no idea whatsoever. Shameful!! 😡😡

I grew up in NE Tennessee and SE Kentucky in the early 50's. I attended a school in a "holler" in Middlesboro, KY in 3rd through 5th grades. The "holler" was called Beans Fork (honest!). The "holler" had an elementary school, grades 1-8. We didn't have kindergarten, and these were the days before middle school. Anyway, I remember that a couple used to visit our school once a week or so and "teach" us about the Bible and religion. No one batted an eyelash over it. Religious indoctrination was the water we swam in in that evangelical enclave. I don't remember what they talked about exactly because I'd heard it all before anyway. Your question brought back these memories. Wow! How the world has changed - my world anyway!

Bringing preachers into a public school? No way, that doesn’t happen in the real world (at least not in the state of Minnesota). I went to a Catholic university and being Christian or believing in God wasn’t even a prerequisite.

Jesus coming down on a white horse like that made me lose it laughing. I grew up and believe in the basics of christianity though I sort of just do good where I can and try to be a good person. Not really interested in making it my entire life's focus. I used to watch so many christian cartoons(no cable) and all I took from them was to be nice. I never understood the fearmongering and I never felt scared by it much. Nasty they're still using that tactic though.

Actually, Mormons have no shunning at all. Mormons are strongly encouraged to keep friendships and family ties with everyone even if those people leave Mormonism. That isn't to say that some Mormon family members might avoid someone in their family who has left Mormonism, but in doing so they are going against what the Mormon leaders teach.

Assuming this is the US, the gospel guy coming into the classroom would absolutely be illegal. He could have done an after school Bible club outside of school hours that kids could choose to go to, but if someone did that in a public school, it would definitely be grounds for a lawsuit. I’ve heard that schools can be loose with this stuff in the Bible Belt, but I didn’t grow up or live there so I wouldn’t be able to say.

Gospel Man would not be allowed in a public school. I don't know about religious schools. Two of my elder sisters were kicked out of Catholic school so I never had to go.
