You’re doing great just remember you’re not building a nuclear reactor. You can always fix it with weld and a little bit more metal. I like the way you think and get onto that dog on CO E.
You sir are bang on Carter is a master at figuring out how to do it right every time and he has an awesome sense of humor . lol your doing it right as well Fitzee's Fabrication is another good RUclips Chanel . consider me subscribed 😎👍
The main concern for the little weld at a time is to not overheat the metal. Once it overheats then it starts moving and next thing you know you’rechasing highs & lows allover the place. Some people tack a few here, go round to other side tack a few there, come back and tack a little more and etc.
Nice work! A coupe pairs of Irwin Vice Grip c-clamps with swivel pad would really help you to hold your panel while fitting and trimming. Also, a possible alternative to the 3M roloc discs is Norton Blaze orange discs. Both are aluminum oxide and tough as nails. The Norton brand is sometimes a little more economical.
For that bottom part sticking out a little too much you could put a zip cut in it, push that section in to where you want it then weld it back together. I have watched DD Speed Shop and saw Dan do it many times.
looks good but dont forget you can move a lot of metal with a hammer and dolly! keep at er! gonna be a bitchen truck when its done and you can say "i did it!"
@wallysworkin823 that mis alignment can be massaged with a hammer and dolly where no more cutting to align will be necessary. Light taps is all u need and patience. You will never forget this learning curve. Btw, u mentioned it was an AZ truck. Are u close to az?
@@flatrat48 patience is not my strong point but I’m getting better 😂I am in Phoenix, truck lived in and around the valley for most of its live as far as I can tell.
im also in phoenix. my project is nearing the end. i learned more from all those mistakes i made then 58 years in metal fabrication. ! lol keep at er!!@@wallysworkin823

Thanks for the recommendation, I will check those out.
Kyle would try a shrinking disk for those low spots
They make the inner panel for the corners as well.
ya great job, Carl and his friend Brent from Halfass kustoms does similar methods
I like the small engine repair

That’s pretty much what did.
paint with a modern rust preventative!
Aren't you going to put the structure back behind the cab corners? 😮
Nice

Don't forget the spot weld holes on the inside flat before you weld it or you will have to drill em after the fact . OOps to late 😱

Hey Pete, I bought some front end parts for this truck from you a while back. You were at work unfortunately.
Nice job Wally , really turned out nice, the cab corners on my 55 have a small amount of rust that need replaced. 🫵🏼💯🆒
Thanks
