2k clear please. For those of us looking to have a longer lasting coat. I think warming the cans prior to laying a cost down will help with reducing the orange peel effect. The prep is obviously the biggest factor in getting a decent job with spray cans. It will. Always come down to time spent before and after with the rattle can job. But you can achieve a good paint job. The 2k clear will help it last, but again you're going to have to put the work in to make it smooth and presentable. Thank you for taking the time to put this video together.
@@theshark2804Hey man. I’m planning on using the turbo can on my old civic this week. Do you have a recommendation on the exact brand of clear coat to use
I use to do rattle can paint jobs on my 52 ford pickup. Back when we had truck auto paint in cans. No clear coat required fan spray like a paint gun and only 4.99 a can. Last for years. Aw the good old days

I've used this on my hunting truck and a couple of friend's hunting vehicles also...my nickels worth of free advice..two coats, with the first coat being very light with only a 25% overlay..second coat a little heavier(walking the vehicle) with at least 50% overlay(no more than 16 inches away either coat..just slow your walk a little on the second).Leaves very little "orange peel" or runs. Those Turbo cans really dump it out! lol On my truck I did do a good sanding first and "pre painted" the gaps and hard to reach areas with a regular spray can because those areas tend to run with the Turbos, due to paint build up.I only wish RustoLeum made it in more colors! (I do have painting experience from my younger years)
It would be cool if you did one side like this with a cut and buff then the other bedside one coat with 2k clear. Then do monthly reviews until you build the truck. Would make a great comparison.

Thank you for watching!! I usually sand it flat with 600 wet after it dried real good and it will lay out pretty slick, a good high solids clear will fill pretty good but you still need to sand it so it will adhere. Yhis weeks video is gonna be wet sand and buffing the pannel, then next week im gonna scuff it then were gonna use the spraymax spray paint 2k clear and make it look like a show car "hopefully " lol. I remember when I was about 14 i spray painted my bike and it flaked like crazy I didn’t know about the sanding to make the color stick I just painted over the clear coat
Great tips as always, man. Love the channel. Turbo cans are great. If Rusto ever gets them to spray as finely as regular cans, then they'll really be a game changer. Also, I'm glad you gave the tips about spraying rattle cans and going heavier. My stuff would come out dusty and streaky when I did light coats. Gotta be like a graffiti artist and coat it fully, runs be damned. Be well.
Hahaha thank you, I 100% agree if they would use a smaller hole in the tip where it would be a finer mist, they would be perfect!!!! Thanks for watching!!!

Then get you some direct to metal epoxy primer, as soon as that tacs put 3 coats of high build primer and let that dry. Then block it with 180 till flat then 320 grit , then finish up with 400 wet then paint. She'll look like glass lol

Hey, thanks man. I’ve been looking for channel that could show me the basics of stuff. I did the bodywork on my truck. Surprise me how Well it looks. I am getting ready to paint but I’m a little unsure on what would be the best primer to set up the paint,so the paint don’t peel off because I use the wrong primer.
If there is alot of bare steel, I'd use an epoxy primer, if it's just paint and body work you can't go wrong with a 2k primer filler. It builds up pretty thick and will help fill in small imperfections.
@@ACDesignsGarage thanks man. I have a light coat primer over at the moment. Keep it from rusting but I was planning on sanding that off so that helps me out. I appreciate that.
Well I'm glad you tested it so therefore I will know to try to make one good passing without running the paint because if I try to make a second passing it's going to Orange Peel like crazy thank you for your video and your info do appreciate it 👍
That may be a little coarse its like 350 grit, I would suggest 600 to 800 if your just shooting clear, if your shooting a solid color base then clear you can use the red scotch brite. If you have a pratice place to do it try it out, it may work, im just not 100% positive!!!
Amazing job.Have been working with cars since 1985,but have never seen such a good result with a spraybox.Unfortunately that paint can't probably not been ordered to Europe, due to our stupid laws..Thanks for the video👍
I've been waiting for them to come out with a spray can that does this now they need to come out with a kit of tips that can be changed for the spray you want. I think it does a pretty good job for a can
Rust-oleum has a 5 in 1 can that you can dial different spray patterns. Kevin Tetz from Paintucation used that to rattle can a bike tank in one of his videos.
That would be a game changer if they would come with assorted spray nozzles. To see which nozzle the customer would prefer. The fan spray on a regular spray can is not big enough. If they would have a nozzle, in between the regular & the turbo that would be great!
That's pretty cool he welded a Sawzall blade to that sheet metal years ago I took a Sawzall blade drilled 2 holes in it screwed it to aluminum drink / bottle holder intended for a bicycle. Then used a hose clamp with the plastic wing nut on it to tightin it on the can so it don't go flying as soon as you hit the button on the saw but be prepared for your arms to itch an tingle after using it cause it will shake your blood around in them veins of yours 😆
Yes I'd take it down to bare metal and go little past the area then epoxy prime or etch prime the bare metal, scuff that then shoot a highbuild sandals primer on that ,then scuff then paint
@@ACDesignsGarage PFS is one of my favorites! I watched most of his videos , there's a few others i watch, just wish I didn't have such bad arthritis in my hands! I can't do much mechanical work now, a few years back I did a lot of work on my OBS Suburban, the paint was shot! So I sanded it primed and painted and clear coated it with the small rattle cans ! Turned out really good ! But just wore my old hands out!
With a 2k spraymax clear I think it will hold up pretty well as long as it has UV in it. Now just bare gloss black turbo can will hold up about 6 months till it starts to fade but it will buff out!!
Holy sh$t! Please excuse the language but that first pass was simply amazing. Unbelievable actually. Thanks for sharing. Can’t believe a rattle can produced such good results and as always thanks for sharing your skills and expertise. -- clear --
Spray can painting has come a long way to when they first came on the market All these spray with some Prefect should be able to get the factory finnishy
As i always say you paint professionally or pay someone professionally only because you like the talent and or the art but almost never to make a profit. In most cases spray paint is good enough to protect and look to the average person without spending money. Cars lose values over time unless it’s Jay Leno. are or an Italian car
I think they took out the fish oil is what I heard. I shot some 2k clear over the turbo can this week and buffed it and its SLICK!!! It goes live on the 24th at 8 pm est.
I am so upset with this Turbo rustolium. I had to wipe it off with mineral spirit, had to do it all over again, and it's still splattered no matter how much I shook the can it is the worst
I've noticed that to, you have to carry a rag and wipe the tip and can off every now and then. That tip sprays right down on the rim of the can for some reason.
so what if you waited a few days and then do the second coat? Would it still orange peel? How about doing 1/2 of the bed side cut and buff and half with the clear coat.
Thats a great idea, I think im gonna wet sand and buff this week and clear it next week. Ive been thinking that the reason it peeled so bad was the pressure must of dropped a little because it was running out of paint. Usually if you let it tac up and spray with normal cans the second coat looks a good as the first. What ive found that causes peel is low pressure and too much fluid!!
Yes here Isa video where I did that, also I have one where I 2k cleared over the turbo and buffed it for super shiny finish! ruclips.net/video/fqGtOnILqwc/видео.htmlsi=73pjyiS8q4NhnJcA

That would be a game changer if they would come with assorted spray nozzles. To see which nozzle the customer would prefer. The fan spray on a regular spray can is not big enough. If they would have a nozzle, in between the regular & the turbo that would be great!
The 5 in 1 spray can works great. But still should have a little bit bigger fan on it. But the fan on the 5 & 1 can is descent!
Warm you can up with warm water before spraying
I had the same thing issues! These. Turbo cans. Take some getting use to.
That's for sure, but there fun lol
Very impressive spray coverage for a can, dumps the paint on it
She dumps it for sure lol!!!!
Man thats awesome idea, i made a video on building one from scratch a few weeks ago, that bottle idea is brilliant!!!
How long those it take to dry the paint. 🎨
All the way through probably a couple days. One easy way to check is to stick your finger nail in in a hidden spot. When it's dry it should be hard.
THANKS FOR THE TIPS AND VIDEO!!!!,, FIRST TIME WATCHING.. PEACE!!
Thank you for watching!!!
What if you have some surface rust? Would you have to take that down to bare metal or how would you handle that?
Yes I'd take it down to bare metal and go little past the area then epoxy prime or etch prime the bare metal, scuff that then shoot a highbuild sandals primer on that ,then scuff then paint
35 minutes. No paint. Spray it damn it!!!
Hahaha just fast foward
I will !! 1969 gmc truck I will let you know how it turns out thanks man !
Awesome!!!!
Straight to the point. Thank you!!
Thank you for watching!!!
Put some heat lamps on it it should flow that out !
I wonder how well and how long that will hold up to the sun and elements?
We are aerosol spray paint manufacturer from china.are you looking for aerosol spray spray paint?
A month Later it still looks as good as day day 1
I like your paint shaker. Version 2.0 could use a thumb screw style hose clamp.
Thanks I was thinkin the same thing!!! Im gonna make a small run of them for my website if anyone wants one, hope to have them up by may 6th.
Thanks for the video. That came out looking great! Very cool Sir. I'm going to give it a shot on my Subaru.
Awesome thank you for watching!!
Wow I'm going to start paint my car today 😳
Awesome, good luck!!!!
Awesomeness, thanks for the tips and video! GOD Bless ! 😇👍🏼
Thank you very much, have a Blessed day!!!!!!
Rustolum clear in turbo please, I’m failing with mine
Jesus, that can lays some paint. I was not expecting it to go down so freaking quick.
It puts it down like a water hose lol, almost comical lol
Have you done the buff job yet? Waiting on that video
I like that. I know now what I'm going to do to my old 83 F100, as far as painting it.
Black it is....will be. 😂
Awesome I love those years of those trucks!!!
Of i ever paint another car or truck im getting that sawzaw attachment to sgake the spray cans! 👍 First saw one on Puddins Fab Shop !
I'm building a fresh batch this week. I love watching @puddinsfabshop!!
Duct tape can to a long blade if you are hard up.
Iam 66 I have a 72 Chevy pick up truck that been in my family since 1973
Man thats pretty cool!!!
Would you say that a paint job will last longer the farther north you live? I know paint fails quick in Arizona and New Mexico.
-- clear --
Hahahaha yeah when I put the 2nd coat I was like Crap!!!!! But it needed it to sand down. I sprayed that first coat and it was awesome 👌
Spray can painting has come a long way to when they first came on the market All these spray with some Prefect should be able to get the factory finnishy
I buffed that 2k clear today and it was beautiful, that video will be up on Saturday!!
Did you use gloss black ?
Yes
Try warming up the paint cans in hot water flows better
I got to try that!!!!
I think with a big spray can like that that shoots out a lot you might want to go 8 inches away from it just to give it that perfect paint job
Its definitely a learning curve lol
curious, how much did it cost in all?
Paint was around $30.00
As i always say you paint professionally or pay someone professionally only because you like the talent and or the art but almost never to make a profit. In most cases spray paint is good enough to protect and look to the average person without spending money. Cars lose values over time unless it’s Jay Leno. are or an Italian car
Let's see the cut and buff!!!
I was actually digging the satin red!
It did look cool, I painted a body dropped square body suburban flat red once it had a cool look!!!
When doing body work you always want the sand on a 45 not straight across to keep the sand marks out of your paint job
I have always heard that Rust o Leum contains a "ALlKYD" or fish oil which is not compatible with other paints causing other paints to lift.
I think they took out the fish oil is what I heard. I shot some 2k clear over the turbo can this week and buffed it and its SLICK!!! It goes live on the 24th at 8 pm est.
CRAZY HOW THE WORD TRANSPARENT HAS A WHOLE NEW MEANING😂
Thanks for watching
Primer?
Paint jobs is expensive I was just trying to get the roof trunk and hood touch up painted at Maaco and the estimate was $1500-$1800
Yes they are. Materials are out the roof!!!
What type of sanding paper are you using on the side of your truck
For my DA sander I like 3m hooking velcro paper, for paint prep I like 3m wet dry paper.
What would it look like with a 2k clear like spraymax? Like to see that.
I thought about trying that this week instead of color sanding?
Like you a lot. Love your hustle.
Thank you very much!!!!
Would be good to see the result of it being flattened out and buffed up. Cheers Chris Bailey
Yes here Isa video where I did that, also I have one where I 2k cleared over the turbo and buffed it for super shiny finish!

@@ACDesignsGarage Good result with both methods. Regards Chris Bailey
Great Video, Thanks for the great tips.
