I saw him in Sarasota with my dad a couple months ago. I cannot express how incredible that concert was and what a gift it was to share with my 71 year old dad. Just spectacular.
Together with Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon, Billy Field and Neil Finn....Bruce Hornsby in my opinion is the most underrated singer songwriter in contemporary music history.
Bruce and Phil Collins helped me stay sane during my divorce in the winter of 93, now it brings great memories of finding how to be happy with myself. Which is vital before you make the leap again. Just celebrated my 25 anniversary with an angel. Wouldn’t change a thing
I'm 70yrs old, noo young😅. This song reminds me of Cansas Mchunu who was a presenter at a Zulu Radio station. Hands up if you were lucky to know him. This song is taking me down memory lane. Where's my age group? Let's go!!!💃💃💃
Not only Bruce Hornsby but in conjunction with the Range, we are listening to those interesting components. Sorry for that Mrs Masuku and again congratulations for working hard under such conditions. I see clearly now about the proverb that says when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
I pray am able to go through so I can also be here once again to say thanks to Bruce and every one here on the comment section.my life gave this song a different meaning after listening to it. I chose this song for my fathers visual tribute in January last year. He owned Scenes from the South Side on disc- I remember him enjoying Hornsby's music. I thought It a fitting tribute to honour my dad.
There's just something so amazing about this song, its perfect. The first time I heard it was when I saw the movie backdraft in the theater, I was just a kid. Now I listen to it all the time.
its a great song for me as well at the end of my funeral. I will ad to my list of songs, mandolin rain and the way it is, is also on my "final song funeral list" so this will be be my 3rd song from Bruce in my top 20 songs to be played for me at my funeral.

I love Bruce Hornsby until the day I pass away, this is a real singer and pianist, I first heard this song in Backdraft and I had to listen to again, thank you Bruce Hornsby for your incredible music
To you all around the world, as we listen to this song, lets not forget about those who go to bed hungry, who their houses has been demolished by floods and landslides. Lets not forget our brothers, sisters, Moms, Children in Sudan, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Jordan, Palestine, Pakistan. I can't name all. Let they not loose hope and we are with them in our prayers. God will answere their prayers. As I listen to this song it came into my mind that I should say this words.
Just lost my Dad three weeks ago and listening to this song now, it has a completely different meaning and depth, I don't know how the show will go on without him 💔!!! He was a man of truth, honesty, and depth, was never afraid to stand alone in his truth...God you should help me because I don't know how to go on without him, and I am the one who told him to rest because he was sick. OOH God the pain is just so unbearable!!!
I bought this cassette when it came out in 1988. Great album start to finish. I pulled it out of my 400+ cassette collection for the first time recently after almost 34 years. Completely forgetting how great it was and how beautiful this song is. I greatly appreciate it now that I’m much older. Bruce did an interview some time back with a radio host explaining what the song was about. Now every time I hear it, I get lost in the words and paint my own music video. Just a beautiful song all around.
@@UwemEtukudo Here’s the link to that interview. He explains both “The Show Goes On” and “Dow the Road Tonight” ruclips.net/video/cMmqoqggBy4/видео.html
Only discovered this track through the 2023 HBO show The Bear. Epic, goosebumps music. I always sang along to 'Thats the way it is' as a kid as my dad played it in his car. 'The Show Goes on' is just a wonderfully uplifting piece of music. Feel very blessed to have found it.

There used to be a DJ down in my country by the name of Cyril Bongani Kansas City Mchunu, and this was his signature song, indeed long after he has left us,still without him the show goes on! Thanks Bruce Hornsby for such wonderful music.
Came looking for this after Donald Sutherland died recently. Absolutely loved Backdraft. One of my favourite films of my youth. Had the soundtrack on a cassette and used to listen to it on my Walkman!!!! Watched the movie again recently after Donald died and the music is as good as ever.
One Sunday I was going to see my Girlfriend, I stopped at a nearest pub and one of my best buddies, Morgan, saw me and we started drinking, Hennessey, I remember well. Since I ddnt have own transport that time, he dropped me at my girlfriend's place. In his car he was playing this song. All well we parted ways, around 19:00hrs as I was going back to my apartment, there was a huge accident on the main entrance along a very busy road,Bang, Morgan was stuck, lifeless in his car. Right in the middle of my cassette holder in my car among the Poison, Motley Crüe, Ozzy and Warrant was Bruce Hornsby and the Range. And if anyone had an issue with it, they were walking 😂😂. Something about Bruce’s songs, songwriting and voice that just hit me. Sooooo Underrated. This rocker is hooked on BH and the Range
"Still without you"... I feel a responsibility to honor those who have departed, but did so much for me. Grandparents, parents, teacher's, clergy, coaches, and many others! "The show goes on", only if I live in such a way as to make them proud.
What's the long face, what's all the crying for Didn't you expect it when you opened your door To the man with the long coat and the long list of victims Everybody watching knows he's the one keeping score From where she sits, everyone stands in judgment People watching as the curtain falls down See the lights do a long slow fade The show goes on, and the sad-eyed sisters go walking on Everyone watching all along The show goes on, as the autumn's coming And the summer's all gone Still without you, the show goes on Some say she's alright, some say she'll never learn Some rush into things, some stand and wait their turn I've been here all along standing here all this time But you never noticed, just let the same tired flames burn From where she sits, everyone stands in judgment People watching as the curtain falls down See the lights do a long slow fade The show goes on, and the sad-eyed sisters go walking on Everyone watching all along The show goes on, as the autumn's coming And the summer's all gone Still without you, the show goes on Time is passing, slowly passing you by You better try to find it before it passes you by As I watch you walking to another cold dawn And you keep on walking And they keep on talking Talking all along From where she sits, everyone stands in judgment People watching as the curtain falls down See the lights do a long slow fade The show goes on, and the sad-eyed sisters go walking on Everyone watching all along The show goes on, as the autumn's coming And the summer's all gone Still without you, the show goes on
As I was listening to this for the first time yesterday, it's always struck me as to how criminally underrated he was when this song came out...and even before then. The lyrics to his songs are crafted so beautifully. Hoping to see him in concert later on this year.

What's the long face, what's all the crying for
Didn't you expect it when you opened your door
To the man with the long coat and the long list of victims
Everybody watching knows he's the one keeping score
From where she sits, everyone stands in judgment
People watching as the curtain falls down
See the lights do a long slow fade
The show goes on, and the sad-eyed sisters go walking on
Everyone watching all along
The show goes on, as the autumn's coming
And the summer's all gone
Still without you, the show goes on
Some say she's alright, some say she'll never learn
Some rush into things, some stand and wait their turn
I've been here all along standing here all this time
But you never noticed, just let the same tired flames burn
From where she sits, everyone stands in judgment
People watching as the curtain falls down
See the lights do a long slow fade
The show goes on, and the sad-eyed sisters go walking on
Everyone watching all along
The show goes on, as the autumn's coming
And the summer's all gone
Still without you, the show goes on
Time is passing, slowly passing you by
You better try to find it before it passes you by
As I watch you walking to another cold dawn
And you keep on walking
And they keep on talking
Talking all along
From where she sits, everyone stands in judgment
People watching as the curtain falls down
See the lights do a long slow fade
The show goes on, and the sad-eyed sisters go walking on
Everyone watching all along
The show goes on, as the autumn's coming
And the summer's all gone
Still without you, the show goes on
Thank you brother!

As I was listening to this for the first time yesterday, it's always struck me as to how criminally underrated he was when this song came out...and even before then. The lyrics to his songs are crafted so beautifully. Hoping to see him in concert later on this year.
Nothing underrated about Bruce Hornsby. 🎶👌x
Yet his songs resonate to this day
Unquestionably the best song ever written
Every time I listen to Bruce my eyes just release the tears this guy is good in making some one feel something inside 😢😢
My love for music lead me here, i hope you all find healing, much love 🙏
LYRICS:

This song absolutely carries all the weight of the first 7 minutes of The Bear season 2…. Incredibly strong and touching.
