Because there has to be both a discussion about this type behavior at some point. "I think about her when I hear that whistle blow." Somebody has to repeat this toxic ambivalent cycle. Meek humility finds as much self worth as it does responsibility and purpose. Someone has to go as she turns to gold.

2023 and it still holds up exquisitely and in comparison to music today, I long for excellent song writing. Structure melodies and musicianship. Still beautiful and excellent recording! 😊❤
The money bubbles up to the lowest common denominator, for the most part. Don't get me wrong, I actually think lots of musicians that get hate today put out some good music. But some of the most popular music today doesn't rely on people learning actual songwriting, singing, and instrument mastery. What a shame, because there could be a tremendous renaissance of pop songs if more kids went back to their roots.

Anyone ever had the experience of hearing a song you’ve heard your whole life and hearing it out of the blue and realize it’s a masterpiece? I’ve been listening to this song all day.
Oh yes. It was about five years ago when I heard this song playing in a McDonald’s, and it was the first time I had heard it in about 10 years. It immediately made me nostalgic for the times this song played on family road trips (which is saying something because I hate road trips). I realized that I wasn’t listening to an ordinary song, but a masterful message of accepting heartache.
I guess you weren't alive or missed the 80's because the album won him a Grammy and a hit on the Billboard charts in 1987. He was never underrated and well respected as a musician and songwriter. Do some research first before you make yourself look stupid.
This song was all over the radio when I was a little kid growing up in the 80’s and I have to say this, along with most songs from the 80’s, blows the shit out of what they put out now. Music, baseball, so much of America has lost its soul which is probably why we don’t know who we are anymore. Any who, great song from better times.
Well said, 'cept for the "any who". I'm rather sick of hearing people utter that "phrase". It makes no sense. At all. Let's put the "how" back where it belongs.

@@2312sports music had emotion because the singers/performers had soul, had talent, had a drive to succeed. After the mid 90s, originality ceased to exist🙄
I feel your emotion. I promise.
My wife of 34yrs loved this song while we were dating. And I have always carriec the memories over the decades and thousands of miles across 2 continents....yes the 80' were great
Takes me back to simple life and great life as a teen.
One of the most bittersweet songs ever recorded.
Makes me sad I don't know why..
When he sings about the fact he knew she wouldn’t stay, and that it would break his heart, he still chose to spend those moments with her anyway....I’ve been there. And let me tell you, it hurts. But those moments when you chose to stay and hoped for the outcome that would make you happy, those are memories that help mold the person I am today
@@djensen2319 Yep I have experienced this as well. Being held by someone you know will leave you. But him leaving turned out for the best in end so he had wisdom I didn't.
Indeed😢❤
If he always knew that shed go is the train a gas lighting abandoning trajectory while she runs from something else. Is the Mandoline rain the only time she pops up? Because there has to be both a discussion about this type behavior at some point.
"I think about her when I hear that whistle blow." Somebody has to repeat this toxic ambivalent cycle. Meek humility finds as much self worth as it does responsibility and purpose. Someone has to go as she turns to gold.
This song takes me back to a moment in time when everyone I have ever truly loved was still alive, and everything was right in this crazy world.
That really put it in perspective
That made me cry. I understand that so well.
SAME 🙋🏾♀️ I would give anything to go back. Kids were safe in school, and accidental bump didn't get you shot. All of the adults were still alive..Now...everyone except my Sisters and Brothers are gone. I miss them all so much. 😪
Ditto
When the people we truly love die, our lives are never the same again. Little things can trigger happy memories and sadness simultaneously.
The song is killing me, just wish the 80's and 9o's come back again..

you bet!! I still love it...
64 AND still Loving and living his music. Good music never dies...
Why do great Musicians get pushed aside....& not receive the attention they deserve?....This is ONE Such Man!!!
Posted the other day on RUclips.. Bruce Hornsby, Chris Thile and a Louisville orchestra did this song. Look it up, it's beautiful!
People know he is a great musical talent more of a song writer been to his concerts he ask for request and mostly wants to play other peoples songs!
There are enough of us out there that recognize greatness, and thats just O K.
*one such band!
2023 I’m still here I’m a fan of Bruce s music especially this one!!! I love this sooo beautiful just sit and enjoy a glass of wine and enjoy this beautiful music 🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🎊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏
Bruce Hornsby is an American treasure. No wonder Jerry Garcia recognized his talent so early . Such a lovely melodic percussive sound and a under appreciated soulful singer .
The best comment of read about this

I am from the future, here in 2587 we prefer 80's music over all others. Peace.
This is one of those songs that's just perfect. I wouldn't change a single note or word of it.
truth bro
Pure magic of nostalgia,
My thoughts exactly. It’s truly exquisite.
Everyone who loves nature, God and the simple and best things in life. Give thanks for memories and blessings from the Lord!
It’s a gorgeous song!
Welcome brother
I just did…. He is an awesome piano player and all around artist ❤️
You're spot on. I always liked it, but I played it again about six months ago, after a long hiatus, and now I can't "put it down."
This song still just gets me right in the heart
Hello Sandy how're you doing today?
Timeless song. Such an underrated artist. 🌠
I guess you weren't alive or missed the 80's because the album won him a Grammy and a hit on the Billboard charts in 1987. He was never underrated and well respected as a musician and songwriter. Do some research first before you make yourself look stupid.
This is one of the songs that is just pure magic.
Beautiful song, haunts me as it reminds me of my husband who died. Tears, lots of tears... love this song. Thank you for posting it.

Bittersweet? 😂
Every single time I hear this amazing track I get tears that well up. It’s such an emotional melody and I love Bruce Hornsby and The Range! ❤❤❤
Same here. Bruce Hornsby is the antithesis of corporate music industry, like he was just F-ing good that they couldn't deny him or change him.
Well said, 'cept for the "any who". I'm rather sick of hearing people utter that "phrase". It makes no sense. At all. Let's put the "how" back where it belongs.
80s we’re golden
We haven’t lost our soul, it’s just been corrupted by the emotional idiots that want to make others feel bad because they suck at life.
E ROCK - YOU'RE DEAD ON RIGHT.....SO SAD....
Saw this man in concert in 1987 on Pensacola Beach. 90 degrees, white tuxedo, large white piano, and I can still remember it like it was today. Amazing. Incredible voice and talent. Takes me back to a very special time. Thank you Bruce.
