Dear Jamie, thanks for this lovely recipe. I made yesterday my loved family happy with a baby turkey prepared on your way. Everybody enjoyed the mesl and was happy. Merry christmas to you and your familiy.
Just so you know, of you have a less than adequate, electric oven in a rented property like I do, then 180 degree's for the first have of the cooking won't cut it. I'd suggest the temperature a little higher just to brown the bird off a little before basting and adding on the bacon for the last half of the cooking. Mine was anaemic. Whacked it up to 200 c with the bacon on now! All good apart form that. 🎉❤
Gordon was cooking this ''recipe'' in paris while working in a Michelin kitchen ..... Jamie always tries to copy Gordon and Marco but has never won any Michelin stars . Guy is a glorified home cook . I see you used emojis.... Saddo
@@CraigWeir-q5v I have a news report from reality: All chefs are glorified home cooks. And all home cooks are glorified camp cooks. And all camp cooks are descended from clever homo erectus cooks. Thanks for taking my comment on board and trying a local pub of yours 👍😃 looking forward to seeing more pub videos. I again recommend in Bathurst the 1880 Taven or the Bridge Hotel at Perthville just outta Bathurst. Thanks again, my husband and myself continue to enjoy your videos 👍😃
Think he said the turkey needed 3 hours total, the first 2 with the foil on. Then he took it out after 2hrs 40 mins to add the bacon, so reckon 20 mins with the bacon?
So take it out at 2 hours unwrap the foil, baste it then put back in oven for a further 40 minutes without covering with foil, then take the turkey back out, add bacon to top then put in for a further 20 minutes before letting it rest?
YES, he said the turkey in the oven for 3 hrs in total , 2 hrs with foil, then he took the turkey out of the oven, he said that it had 2:40, so the rest 20 min must be with the bacon
This is the right video. You can not have Christmas without a Turkey. Having a beautiful tasty turkey, is what make Christmas special. Don't forge to get your favorite wines. You can shop my wines stores. More amazing deals for some one special.
I almost have to call the turkey hotline on how many hours I need to heat up my Costco smoked turkey! luckily I found it on the package sticker, it used to have a separate instruction tag, so Christmas dinner was save, lol I have no desire to cook a raw turkey, these pre smoked whole bird always save me from slaving in the kitchen.
you put it in with the foil which will not allow it to brown and crisp up.....you didnt tell us what to do after you take the foil off and whether or not to put it back in the oven
I have cooked a 9 kilos turkey... After 3 hours at 190ºC it was smelling at burned so I take it out 2 hours before recomended. The turkey was totally overcooked

Trying to make people think about how immoral it is. Spreading a message... The reason why vegans speak out and end up annoying people is because we get angry about how everyone just wants to ignore the horror of it all. People would rather not think about it and they blame the messenger for challenging the status-quo. The general population told civil rights activists to shut up. Nobody wants to face the fact that we kill and eat animals out of greed and convenience. It's wrong but people don't want to think that they have been blindly doing something wrong. I used to eat animals too. Nobody had made me think about the situation.

Thank you so much! It's an amazing recipe! A turkey was cooked so easy and delicious!
Does anyone have a link to the written recipe for this ?
This is a great recipe for cooking a turkey. Ours turned out yummy and the gravy from the drippings was really good too!
I do not know why we do not have this culture in my country!
This is my favorite turkey

When you put the bacon on top do you then re cover it with the foil or leave foil off for last hour?
James Mclaughlin I also wanted to know!
I always uncover for the last 40 min. If you begin uncovered you have shoe leather

When you put the bacon on the turkey how long do you bake the turkey
Gordan dose the bacon from the start

Paul Magee he said he was going to remove it a second or two before x
I really liked this. 😄
After you put the bacon on it, how much longer do do you let it cook?
Agreed, failed to mention!!! I would say typically you cook it until the birds done. I'd perhaps add the bacon for the last hr of cooking.
Think he said the turkey needed 3 hours total, the first 2 with the foil on. Then he took it out after 2hrs 40 mins to add the bacon, so reckon 20 mins with the bacon?
Where can I find the rest of the episode? The part with gravy making with red wine and simmering the tasty goodness. Channel 4 has it not

Do we brine this turkey or just thaw it if frozen?
Room temperature
What can I put inside the turkey
You can put for example onions, herbs, apples or citrus fruits in your turkey for extra aromatics/flavor and extra moisture :-)
it looks good without the bacon part

Very similar to Gordon Ramsay's method, from the butter under the skin, to bacon on the breast
no people have been doing it for a long time
