Depends on what you mean by bang for your buck. Regular ZR2 can be had much cheaper. At least 5k. Plus if I'm buying a truck like these I'm not buying it to drag race. In the real world daily the RR and regular ZR2 differences would be negligible. The RR would get across the desert quicker and then the ZR2 would leave it on the trail. Two different priorities with these. Depends on what you want to do more.

Extra stuff that wasn’t mentioned on the bison 1st in its class with 12.2 ground clearance, extra skid plates and joust bump stops, the raptor is cool for the Baja mode but rock crawling the bison is the king of the mid size trucks
You can take a 2" lift on the ranger and put 35" on it too and get the same or more ground clearance with half the cost of a BISON is over the top ZR2 model. I can get a ZR2 for 50K, an RR for 58K and a Bison will run 65K in my area (these aren't marked up either). I would prefer to take that bison package cost and just put a bigger lift and tires on the ZR2 or RR.
I think the ZR2 is a better value than the ZR2 bison, but i think the ranger raptor is a better value than both. I will say this I have test drove the ZR2 and it was awesome. Haven't had a chance to drive the ranger raptor
Yah I"m flip on the ZR2 or an RR mainly on price. Do I really need all that extra or do I just want a nice 4x4 truck for what I do which is mainly overlanding and travel. I don't baja or rock crawl, but I own rangers in the past and always wanted on with a much more power.
Well at least you admit to this being a biased comparison 😂. They are both over priced but the ZR2 looks a lot meaner to me and you buy with your eyes first. And the rear seats are basically the same you just spread your legs in the ranger back seat 😜. I’d go with the F-150 over the Silverado but I gotta go with the Colorado over the ranger and I’ve owned both so that’s a comparison from a person who has real world experience with both trucks. Love the videos though keep up the great work guys.
It really just depends what your budget is and what you plan to do. The ZR2 is a great buy for it's price. Ford needs to do some better design with the top end FX4 truck to match it. Chevy needs to make the Bison have a better engine, like the 3.0 in the full size or bring back the twin turbo diesel. It's really not worth it unless your just trying to go for the looks. You can just add 2" to the RR and 35's for half the price of that package and still get a tall truck that can rock crawl but way more power.
I got a 2018 Colorado LT a few months ago and its got the 3.6 V6 in it and I love it. To be fair it is my first vehicle, but its a lot easier to learn on rather than on my dad's silverado ZR2 or moms yukon both with 6.2s. I saw a 3rd gen bison a few days ago and it is a lot bigger in person than on camera and it seems like its got a lot of the same features as the new silverado ZR2 models too. I think it all depends on what you really want to do with the truck, the bison is an offroad machine and im sure the ranger is too, but just remember that anything can offroad if youre going fast enough!
The Zr2 also has front and rear axel cameras underneath. I paid less than 55 for it with every option available that is less than the starting price of the Raptor. The Raptors are also plagued with reliability isses, as with most new Fords.
Both are really awesome and not all that much different if looking at capabilities. But for me the powertrain and Raptor interior takes it…suspensions are both phenomenal so a wash. But if going strictly on looks I’d go Chevy. Check insurance rates and you’ll be surprised as there is a difference--or at least it was for me with a clear record and 60 years old…not sure why but Ranger was cheaper to insure. Lastly Ford paint is better
Saw a video where they compared the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro against the Ford Ranger Raptor. They went over inside and outside features and took both vehicles off road. They drove both pretty hard. The reviewer said he liked both vehicles but he liked the Raptor a little better than the TRD Pro. Plus, he said the Tacaoma cost more. He also said you could get a power upgrade from Ford that would increase the horsepower and torque and it wouldn't void the warranty.
You can change the seatbelt gear changing feature in the settings permanently or at least till you change it again. I do wish my Bison had the hp and tq of the raptor

Great job! I've been a Chevy owner for 30 years with a couple of Fords sprinkled in here and there. I'm looking to get of my Chevy Silverado and into a midsize truck and even though I prefer the looks of Chevy over Ford I can't stand the lower power output in real driving situations that Chevy is known for. The Chevy's go pedal feels like mush and their trucks are dogs off the line because of their torque curve etc... It's not a fun driving experience. I did a lot of work to my 2014 LTZ to get it to drive like I want and I will keep that but my next truck will be the ranger raptor right after my wife trades out of her xt4 for either a Nautilus or Aviator sometime next month. Cadillac didn't do itself any favors with that SUV.
I am glad I am not the only one who hates having to buckle up to shift. Every single time I moved my vehicle out of the garage to access my mower, I would tell myself how much I hated it. I just traded in my 2024 GM vehicle for a Ranger Raptor.

I definitely think the Ranger Raptor is a better option for the amount of money you’re paying, but a wider stance would be nice, and a more aggressive front style
I’m a ford guy all day long . My dad loved ford in our country in Colombia we have a lot of European vehicles and French cars and Japanese vehicles and not many American vehicles and some how my dad would buy ford .
The shifter placement in the Colorado I can not stand and no headlight knob or dial instead the headlights is built into the screen which I do not like at all.

Come on man!!! You’re trying to say the competition for the Ranger Raptor is the the ZR2 Bison and comparing the price. The real competition is between the Regular Colorado ZR2 and the Ranger. You can get a regular ZR2 for 48,000 to 50,000 all day which is much better than the Ford and probably the best bang for buck in off-road vehicles today period!!! I like both trucks but I think the Chevy has a more aggressive look and if Chevy ever wises up and drops the 3.6 liter supercharged engine from the Cadillac Blackwing into either the Bison or the Regular Colorado ZR2 they will blow Ford and the Ranger Raptor completely out of the water
I thought the same-he was comparing the wrong trims. Also, the ZR2 has cooled seats, which the Ranger doesn't. It's a nitpick, but it's an important one where I live. I need cooled seats way more often than heated.
the better thing is you can just put a tune on the ranger and get true power gains for under 1k these 4 bangers in these midsize trucks are tapped out from the start
Personally, I love this take on the Colorado Bison vs. the Ranger Raptor. I like the POV of a Ford Salesman talk someone out of buying a Bison and get the Raptor. That said, I was in the market for a midsize truck to replace my modified Lexus LX470. I ultimately narrowed it down to the Ranger Raptor, Tacoma TRD Pro/ Trailhunter, Canyon AT4X AEV and the Colorado ZR2 Bison. They all have their hits and misses. However- what most reviewers miss is the rear child seat situation. For some people, myself included, I am going to use this truck as a daily driver and have two small kids. All reviewers jump in the backseat to show headroom and legroom, which is great, however, they won't mention how a child seat would fit, and more importantly for me here in super hot Texas, how comfortable the rear seats are with actual AC. The Tacoma TRD Pro has the most useless backseat due to those crazy Isodynamic front seats, so that was quickly ruled out after seeing one in person. The Ranger Raptor is crazy fast, I loved it. Loved the front seats and the mostly black interior. However, two major misses for me were the lack of front ventilated seats AND the lack of rear ventilation for the kids. That means the front center AC vents would be directed towards the back, and combine that with no front ventilated seats make for a very warm experience here in Texas. So then that was enough for me to decide to go with the Chevy, because I wanted my kids to be comfortable, as well as myself. I definitely don't love everything about the Bison, I have a ton of gripes, but in the end, these comparisons are great, but most of these videos just compare the same stuff over and over, but I really do love that counterpoint of everything you mention, keep it up!
You haven’t really done a true comparison on vehicle function etc. and the ranger raptor equally equipped is way more money. And the suspension on the ZR2 will walk circles around the raptors suspension all day long.
The zr2 is built for rock crawling and 4x4 type driving. The ranger is not. If you want a nice truck that is great for the road and dirt roads ranger is great. If you want a truck that is capable of true off road use the colorado is king
How is it a better rock crawler, they both got the same modes pretty much. The RR has a better rear end. Bison has bigger tires, but you can tale that extra cost and put a 2" lift and 35" on the RR too and still have more HP/Torque (specially with the upgrade tune).
@freedomisntfree_44 dude, do you own one? Have you been to moab? I was just at moab with our bison and we met a couple with a ranger raptor that COULD NOT do poison spider trail without a line. In case you do not know that means the ranger needed pulled through the hardest part. It simply did not have enough ground clearance and the tires were too small. 1 inch off road can make a big difference. It's a nice truck and is better through fast desert type stuff but when it gets very rough the bison is just better.
Any idea what the insurance differences are on these trucks? Almost assume the Ranger raptor would have pretty high premiums just because of the name itself.
Take it and do what is was built for, the colorado will KILL the ranger in real 4x4 stuff and the motor in the colorado has plenty of power to do anything you need. I have driven both, ranger has more power, colorado rides and drives better. I own ford's, dodge, jeep and gm I love them all. The colorado bison has a 35 inch tire and full skid plates . We went to moab in our 2024 bison colorado and did poison spider, hells revenge, and fins n things.
Biggest issue on the prices though, is most Ford dealerships are not selling raptors without $10k markups. While its a lot more common to see the ZR2s/AT4Xs being sold at sticker or under at chevy dealerships. Just a thought.
@ryansheard8092 did I say Bison versions?? No. Most dealerships around here are at or below sticker on ZR2/AT4X including my AT4X which was $4k off. Couldn't find a dealship in Washington, Oregon or Idaho that wanted to sell a RR at sticker
He says he has more back seat room in the RR which is completely false. I have tested both and there is more space in the ZR2. He had the front seat set way back in his comparison. LoL. He clearly is a FORD guy! Lol
This is a terrible review, its obvious you hate gm. And please before you decide to do a review please do your homework and learn both vehicles. The buckle to drive message you were crying about is a simple setting you can turn off in the infotainment center. I have fords, love my gt500 but the colorado is just the better truck if you actually want to do some hard-core offroad.
I like the look of the RR but I think the Chevy is a much better looking truck, just need to put the rr engine and suspension in the zr2 and Chevy would have a winner! Chevy needs to beef up all their motors to compete w Ford and now also w Ram w the RHO that’s going to be competing w the f-150 v6 raptor.
Yeah should have done the regular zr2. Would have killed it in the value department. If only Chevy would have stuffed a 5.3 into the bison. People of paid 75k. Lol
These two trucks are designed for different uses. My biggest issue with the RR is that it doesn't have enough ground clearance. It should sit another inch taller, especially in the front. The ZR2 is the better looking truck, but id prefer the RR if I was purchasing one of these.
You are comparing a TANK like Bison to Sports Car like Raptor. I will choice the Tank for everyday service and work use rather than a sports car for show.
The Raptor is a better value only if you can locate one without a $5k to $10k "market adjustment" over the MSRP sticker price. Also, difficult to actually find a Raptor. The Ford dealership near me is only getting one for 2025.

I thought the same-he was comparing the wrong trims. Also, the ZR2 has cooled seats, which the Ranger doesn't. It's a nitpick, but it's an important one where I live. I need cooled seats way more often than heated.
@@benblakeney7418I think the Raptor Ranger can get heated and cooled seats
I think the Ford Ranger Raptor is still the king of midsize pickup trucks, but if you have some details that beats it, you might change my mind
The rangers frame won’t bend either. Raptor all day.
if only you could put that engine in the ZR2 I’m a Ford guy, but that ZR2 is sharp
Chevy lost me at 4 cylinders. Nice looking but no. Does the Ranger raptor have the option of the new ford performance tune? Love that
More torque, more rubber, looks better. ZR2 is pretty great
Same torque you mean and way less hp 😂
the ranger raptor looks so good in person. trust
@@benjaminbrown7127 I’ve seen it, it’s fine. But I’ll stick w the f150 🙃
@@freedomisntfree_44 yeah I don’t care about HP, torque (and when it hits) is what matters.
@@Matt-fu3bv the 2.3 ranger keeps up with the 2.7 in the Colorado…. The other ford engines just embarrass it.
Small lift and 35s on the Ranger. Get the factory tune added to get 455 hp and 536 lbft of torque and still cheaper than the Bison.
But not cheaper than the ZR2.
the better thing is you can just put a tune on the ranger and get true power gains for under 1k these 4 bangers in these midsize trucks are tapped out from the start
Ranger Raptor is much better than the Competition !!!!!! and I'm a Toyota fan.
I like the looks of the Chevy better but like the engine of the ford more.
And whichever one has the more comfortable seats is going to win the sale
You haven’t really done a true comparison on vehicle function etc. and the ranger raptor equally equipped is way more money. And the suspension on the ZR2 will walk circles around the raptors suspension all day long.
The zr2 is built for rock crawling and 4x4 type driving. The ranger is not. If you want a nice truck that is great for the road and dirt roads ranger is great. If you want a truck that is capable of true off road use the colorado is king
Do you even KNOW what the Raptor family is about? Lmao
What a stupid comment 😂 ranger raptor will do anything the zr2 will but twice as fast.
@Pilot545 do you have first hand experience? I do.
You can turn the buckle to shift off in the touchscreen.. Since you didn't even know this you lost my view from there on.
Any idea what the insurance differences are on these trucks? Almost assume the Ranger raptor would have pretty high premiums just because of the name itself.
Took 11:13 to mention he’s 6’3” but he got it in there.
The seltbelt brings back memories of the early 1974 models...
Yeah having to put your seat belt on the move the shifter on a $63.000.00 get the hell out of here. I'll keep my 2024 diesel AEV bison. Thank you
The dealer will disable the seatbelt thingy
Take it and do what is was built for, the colorado will KILL the ranger in real 4x4 stuff and the motor in the colorado has plenty of power to do anything you need. I have driven both, ranger has more power, colorado rides and drives better. I own ford's, dodge, jeep and gm I love them all. The colorado bison has a 35 inch tire and full skid plates . We went to moab in our 2024 bison colorado and did poison spider, hells revenge, and fins n things.
😂😂😂
if you close your eyes while listening you can smell a mullet
Plus with the raptors you get to go to ranger raptor assault driving experience
You just sold me the Chevy.
Team Raptor ... with my Blue Lightning
No midsize trucks in this video. Only a couple compacts
Biggest issue on the prices though, is most Ford dealerships are not selling raptors without $10k markups. While its a lot more common to see the ZR2s/AT4Xs being sold at sticker or under at chevy dealerships. Just a thought.
That's just complete BS. No ZR2 Bison AEV is sold under MSRP. MOST reputable Ford Dealers are selling the RR at MSRP.
@@ryansheard8092 You should look again and check inventories. I'm in Texas and I've seen MANY ZR2 Bisons go well under MSRP.
I got my RR at msrp. It’s doable just got to drive far to get one
@ryansheard8092 did I say Bison versions?? No. Most dealerships around here are at or below sticker on ZR2/AT4X including my AT4X which was $4k off. Couldn't find a dealship in Washington, Oregon or Idaho that wanted to sell a RR at sticker
That ZR2 is so much better looking than the raptor!
Out the door price is $3-5k less on Colorado Bison and Canyon AEV than a Ranger
Raptor. Let’s stop the MSRP red herring nonsense.
He says he has more back seat room in the RR which is completely false. I have tested both and there is more space in the ZR2. He had the front seat set way back in his comparison. LoL. He clearly is a FORD guy! Lol
can we put the ford powertrain in the zr2 the zr2 looks sooo much better then the raptor
He literally owns two Ford dealerships and told you it’d be biased several times in the video and the title. Sorry he hurt your feelings
Chevy Colorado zr2 should go back to v6@@americantrucknation4891
All these politicians and manufacturers trying to kill off larger engines, but my '13 5.0 on 35s gets the same or better mpgs than these 2 trucks?
there really is no comparison with any of the mid size trucks to the raptor, hopefully the rest will wake up and follow Fords lead here
Not one ranger raptor is selling at $57k let alone msrp and I have been looking nationwide-they are literally selling at $75k and up
I bought one for 58 but had to travel
Same here!
Two Ford dealerships in Netcong & Mendham in New Jersey sell at MSRP.
Check’em out!
Lol
They need to fix the Raptor stance. Those tires are tucked way too far in for the fenders.
Ranger 100%
Well sounds like a little more accessorised LDV CANNON 😂
These two trucks are designed for different uses. My biggest issue with the RR is that it doesn't have enough ground clearance. It should sit another inch taller, especially in the front. The ZR2 is the better looking truck, but id prefer the RR if I was purchasing one of these.
That Bozo thought these trucks would sound good. He's claerly not been in a ZR2 6.2L
Lol why are you mad though, he is comparing midsize bozo 😂
😂 brother the only Chevy to ever sound good was a 7L LS 😂 the rest sound like a 600lbs woman with explosive diarrhea 😂😂😂😂😂
@BoostedYote quit talking bout your ol lady
You are comparing a TANK like Bison to Sports Car like Raptor. I will choice the Tank for everyday service and work use rather than a sports car for show.
I prefer my 24 f150 xlt tx edition. Black with just enough chrome to look respectable.
I would take either one, but I think Ford messed up not having physical buttons for the lockers.
The Chevy has no physical button or switch for exterior lights and cruise control is not a standard feature. Just ask Andre on TFL
@@dalehovland3283set it to auto and forget about it. All my vehicles are set to auto and I’ve never had to touch the lighting.
Rather average a switch for headlights. Don’t get one in the gm trucks
The Raptor is a better value only if you can locate one without a $5k to $10k "market adjustment" over the MSRP sticker price. Also, difficult to actually find a Raptor. The Ford dealership near me is only getting one for 2025.
They’re out there. I got one at msrp had to drive 3 hrs to get it but it’s worth it
Zr2 looks better exterior wise
Only half dozen available in my state and its dealer overpriced. Can find ZR2 all day.
