Not as much as you're going to regret buying the Cybertruck.
Stay mad 😡❄️
Or a lightning 😂
Imagine getting to pay msrp and then being able to sell it for the same or more. The Raptor can’t claim that with Ford dealers in the middle.
Cybertruck not a very sound business decision.
If you bought it for the clicks you likely wont regret it at all.
Best in class but ruined by dealer greed.
But somehow still cheaper than TRD pro MSRP 🤷
@@marklihsu Thanks to the "Toyota Tax"
Ruined by consumers who are willing to pay dealer markups. The dealers are just selling a limited resource prices that the market will support.
I bought mine from Vanguard Ford in northeast Texas. Paid MSRP and not a Penney more. They did me right. Honest small Ford dealer in a rural community. Good people.
The customers decide the price and value of something, not a business. You don't understand personal responsibility.
What’s truly amazing is how little content you did with the raptor R.
I forgot they bought one!!
Didn’t see the usual Ike tests or Moab run (but maybe they did them and I missed it?), no drag races vs the new mustang they bought, lol not a lot of content at all.
Roman has explained the business reasons why on a podcast. It takes hundreds if not a $1,000 to shoot one video with staff to shoot it and edit. It takes a million views to make $1,000 on RUclips. There has to be a business case for every video made. It’s not easy running a RUclips business. Try it.
Considering they buy the vehicles in cash several of which are over 100k I think they are doing alright.
They try to be first for the views. Turn and burn, off to the next new car
Want to see a TRD Pro vs AT4X vs Ranger Raptor off-road battle
I think this would be great, coz I am thinking about this.. TBH the ONLY reason I haven't gone out and bought this already is because of the MPG.
I think the canyon AT4X is such an underrated model, all bells and whistles of the ZR2 in a better looking and more luxurious package. If it was me and I was deciding between the 3, AT4X would be my choice. The Ford dealer experience is enough for me to not even consider the Ranger as an option if I’m being honest, but that’s just my opinion.
Spoiler alert at4x does better rock crawling raptor nails it in desert running and the pro just can't hang
@@Meqanicull And how mediocre the new TRD Pro is you're not wrong considering the ATX 4 just GM's current quality control issues would make me worried about it.
@@fiftyshadesofurban and the markup...
There are 2.5 misses on this truck:
Any vehicle with leather seats should automatically come with ventilated seats, especially at that price point. Those seats get icky in the summer
There should be vents in the rear. It’s crazy to me that both the Bronco, and the Ranger don’t have air vents coming out the back of the console.
I am giving half a point for the lockers being a part of the touchscreen, I would prefer a switch.
Otherwise I think it’s a sweet truck, super capable! I can’t wait to see more content with it.
Don't forget the strange gear selector.
I agree on the rear vents and in Canada you need all seats heated.
Out of all of these I hate the lockers being on the touch screen the most
I mean I don't sit in the back and the extra air power cooling in the front shpuld offset seats. Honestly I didn't even notice if my explorer seats really cool much sadly
Agreed with the ventilated seats. Crazy thing is here in Thailand, You actually get rear vents. And some little other bits that you guys don't get. while being a few thousand dollars cheaper!
It is crazy to me that dealers still haven't learned their lesson yet. I just went to a Toyota dealer over the weekend and test drove a Tacoma. It was a SR5, with a cheap lift kit, and method wheels. They wanted over $56k for it. I just wish people weren't so dumb to fall for the mark up scams, it just fuels these dealers to keep doing this.
Same reason we still have scammer calls, people still fall for them.
And Banks are kicking themselves for loaning way over invoice on all these Covid vehicles they're getting back. Those big mark-ups are now turning into repos that are seriously under water. I was shocked when I found out Banks were dumb enough to make over value loans on a depreciating asset 🙄
Many people and banks will not lend you money on any thing over sticker price. Repos are up and cars are not selling like they use to
If you were selling your truck and one guy said he would give you 50K and another 60K who are you going to sell to? It is funny how people expect dealers to just "be nice" when no one else would. Dealers buy the cars from Ford and then they can do whatever the hell they want. If there are idiots who want to pay 10K over sticker well that's how it goes.
It’s called “supply & demand”.
Significant call out on ranger bed compared to competitors is you can fit a sheet of plywood between the wheel wells like a full size. No other mid size can do that. I think that makes the ranger bed far better than competitors.
That was a key change on the new generation. They had to do quite a bit of redesign on the rear suspension to pull that off. If people actually do real work with the truck they are going to notice that change. 👍
Who can afford sheets of plywood after taking it in the rear by ford to own the ranger raptor 😂😂😂😂
Honda Ridgeline can fit a sheet of plywood flat in the bed 😅
@@danaildanailov1250 you are 100% correct

Tommy’s videos are always so thoughtful. The student has definitely become the master. Roman must be incredibly proud.
I would take that a step further. Roman drives me nuts when he's in front of the camera and I want to judge Tommy because they look similar, but he's just much more watchable. Hopefully dad goes into the sunset and just cashes checks.
To see if the door closing problem is pressure, crack a window open and try again. If it closes more easily, it's pressure. If it doesn't, it's something else.
A little odd though, that YOU have to tell a guy that tests trucks for a living, to do that simple step to see if it's pressure or not. How does he not know this?
Its not a pressure problem i have the fx4 xlt and its the same way its just a tight fit
It is, I tried it on my Ranger FX4.
@@jeffk464it is what? You are unclear. Explain.
Its something I'm getting use to on my 2024 Ranger FX4. Super solid closing doors is nothing to complain about. I hope it lasts for as long as I have it.
I agree, this compared to the new TRD pro I’d get this. More bang for your buck
Plus, I'd be more concerned about long-term reliability on the Toyota. Yes, Toyota has a better overall reputation than Ford, but this truck has a proven engine and transmission that have been around a while and are still doing reasonably well. We don't know much about the new Toyota engine yet - but new engines, even from Toyota, tend to have issues for the first few years. Plus in addition to the Engine, Transmission and Turbo in the Ford, the Toyota also has a hybrid battery and motor that all need to function. That's a lot of components, any of which a failure could make a very bad or very expensive day.
@@desertflattiesand no leg room in rear seats 😢

I want to see your testing of the 2.7 Ranger when it comes out soon. It will be less powerful than the Raptor, but that 2.7 receives universal praise in the F-150 platform. The 2.7 Ranger should be a good deal lighter than the Raptor. Maybe the 2.7 version is going to end up being the one to buy. Couple extra thousand pounds in towing capacity, a few thousand cheaper for a well-equipped example, most or all of the straight-line fun the Raptor offers... Should be interesting.
I was interested to see the towing capacity of the 2.7 and 2.3 are the same. Wonder what the limiting component/system is.
When setting towing limits, you also have to consider stopping limits. Plus, they also take in Gross Vehicle Weight, the 2.7 is a little heavier, so towing is lowered. But still, for an additional $2195, the V6 is very attractive on the Ranger.
I remember back when MSRP was what the suckers paid. Now you're getting a "deal" if you can get out the door paying MSRP. Sometimes change is good, this is not an example of that. 😑
I want a new truck, but don't need it. No deal if the dealer won't knock off $2-3k from MSRP.

Great overview!
That towing connection is gonna keep getting bashed up. Why would they place it there? Stupid as f
The full size Raptor spare takes up the space where on the regular Rangers with smaller spares the trailer hook ups are up next to the license plate. Still better than hauling a spare in the bed.
$58k is highly aspirational. Haven’t seen one less than $65k. Plus tax and other dealer nonsense and this $45k truck is over $70k.
Seen a few at msrp but at msrp as you said is still highly overpriced
You won’t see those prices again. Manufacturers will cut production to keep up demand if necessary. The parts and raw resources are global, dollar isent demanded like it was. Inflation will continue, trick is making north of 130k, not waiting for prices to come down. We are no longer the top dogs we were.
I got mine for msrp but had to order it
I paid sticker. I also ordered it last July. I got offer 10k over in the dealership parking lot. I wasn't interested. I waited a year gotta do better then that.

The Ranger Raptor does seem like a great truck...Pricing has gone through the roof for these specialty trucks. Greedy dealers and impatient buyers are making things even worse.
Idk about you but I TYPICALLY COMMIT to CLOSING my DOORS
I have a 2020 custom trail boss and a small breeze can shut my doors.
I drive a 2018 Ford F150 at my work and I hate that truck because I literally do have to slam the door to the truck Every time to get it to shut.
Whereas in the Chevy it practically shuts itself. And it gets quite tiring after a 10 hour shift I get In-N-Out of the truck at least 20 times a day.
It just gets so tiring having To Do all of that.
I don't like that design.
When are we going to see the top dogs go at it, the ZR2 vs the Ranger Raptor? We can even throw the TRD in for comedic relief
7:41 designers and engineers really need to go back to square one and stop it with these unintuitive shifters you can't use by feel; this is a serious safety issue. With so many the functions in touchscreens and capacitive touch buttons along with these gimmicky shifters, using a car has become a lot more dangerous and the designers and engineers of these things should be ashamed.
Canyon/Colorado have rear AC vents
I sit in the front seat. Don’t care.
True one of the few misses of this truck. Although the cabin is small enough just point the vents up and blast.
Gladiator also has rear vents. Tacoma does not.
I know the 2.3 Ecoboost doesn't wow people anymore but the power train is a decade old. You won't have any issues with it
Funny because Ford is top for recalls and their small Ecoboost engines are all being recalled due to disintegrating wet belts blocking the oil system way before their change interval. Ford has the most mechanical recalls. Though Toyota is trying hard with their twin turbo v6 and the machining swarf left in the engines.

The problem isn’t the dealers it’s the people paying over msrp for them, if people would put their foot down and say no to the dealers wanting over msrp the dealers would lower the price
Totally agree. Same concept for food, gas, houses, etc. we should stop eating, filling up the tank and living in buildings and the price of all of those will eventually come down. 😃
It's the dealers too. Not just the dealer markup, all the bullshit charges they claim are required but are actually just ways of taking money without giving you anything. They will say they are government charges, but they aren't, they are just profit. Watch Car Edge, on one recently they had a dealer at something like $20k in bullshit charges.

@@is6566 Lol want and a need or two completely different things
I mean whos buying vehicles right now anyways. So overpriced even at msrp.
I love the idea of a midsize truck to replace my full size. But, I carry passengers a lot when I go off road to camp, fish, etc. punishing them in the back seat for hours seems too cruel.
Have them drive themselves
I want to see the off road comparison between the Ranger Raptor, ZR2 and TRD Pro.
Those KO3 tires worked awesome on hell's revenge with my ranger raptor. Cameras and crawl control were very useful
id really like you guys to drive the truck like a normal person, faster then 10 mph
I guarantee you in some places the 10 mph feels as dangerous as 130 mph on a highway. But I agree with you.
In Australia my Ranger Raptor has handles on every piller (front and rear , passenger and drivers side ) for getting in and cup holders under the vents that pop out when you need them, no screen lag, its a flawless ute
I see plenty of them up here in south east Queensland while I'm getting around in my company car, a 24 Ranger. Even with the 2.0L, it's a nice driveline with the 10 speeds. Adaptive cruise works so much better in it over the 21 Hilux I had before this.
The only thing I want changed in the ranger and Colorado, extended cab and 6 foot bed. I don't want a mid size for the rear seats, I want small capable truck....
Exactly! This truck is pretty much useless for any type of utility needs. I bet you couldn't get two full sized trash cans next to each other in the back of the thing. I love the looks of the Ranger but with that silly little bed, it is nothing more than a toy really.
@@tipsovr2626Most people
Looking to fulfill some utility needs aren’t usually looking at the Ranger Raptor and unless you are doing constant job site stuff the bed is more than enough. I have 2018 Colorado Zr2 with the 5ft 2inch bed and I’ve never had an issue using it for utility it’s hauled 30+ bricks and nearly 6 foot entertainment unit and it fit easily and I was able to close the tailgate about halfway using the dampers that hold the tailgate to the bed. Unless you hauling some majorly heavy loads for your job (which at that point you shouldn’t even be looking at midsize) than I don’t fully understand your complaint, even if there was an extended cab 6ft bed it wouldn’t have much of any increase in payload or towing only difference is a foot larger bed.
@@Meqanicull I'll agree that the Raptor version isn't going to be used as a utility vehicle. It is purely an expensive toy. That said, the Ranger would be much more appealing to me if I could get the four door with a six foot bed. I do a lot of camping and outdoor activities. Having the extra foot in bed length makes a big difference. Not having the option to get that makes the Ranger much less appealing to me.
@@tipsovr2626 there is nobody in the off road midsize segment with a 6 foot bed. You either have to go midsize base spec or go full size. Given the option I’d take a full size every day.
I like the look and utility of my Tacoma Access Cab, it’s a swollen version of my Dad’s 1995.5 Tacoma Xtra Cab. I would much prefer his ‘95 as it is more compact and much less tech and more simple. 1995 was a 4x4 V6 5-spd manual with manual windows and locks, mine is a 2023 TRD Off Road automatic, both black.
I bought mine Jan 27, 2024 as one of the last ACLB trucks on O’ahu, I really wanted a 4-cylinder SR/SR5 4x4.
Where are the real tests and reviews? This is repeat of all the same stuff that has been coming for this truck for the last 6 months.
I like my old time column mounted shifter on my 23 F150, my 2nd 2.7 Ecoboost yanks the truck around effortlessly, hitch up a 5,000 pound camper no problem, but oil changes oil changes oil changes, havent had the first problem out of either truck, but every 5k change that oil!!! I keep a milk crate in the back to get in the bed and out, short legs so I’m geared low, who ever thought of that parking brake setting it’s self need to be drown in lake Michigan! Tommy the truck is beautiful!
No one buys a ranger or Colorado to haul plywood sheets. Please let’s top the utilitarian BS. Anyone interested in that is getting a full size base model work truck. This class caters to a totally different buyer.
I was able to secure a factory order for under 65k in California (I find it hard to believe myself). But what is really CRAZY to me is that even after the RR’s dealership markup. It is still CHEAPER than the 2024 off-road tacoma hybrid trim by like 3-5k!. Oh yeah, now our trucks have that boy-racer exhaust note! The exhaust volume levels in virtually all performance vehicles are getting louder & louder every year. The laws for decibel levels are antiquated & need to restrain the legions racing around at night. It’s much safer to engage a parking brake & once set, you put the selector into park. This will take the load off of the transmission & onto the parking brake..
This is a fantastic truck for what it is. Glad to see this updated design. That much power in a midsize truck is mid blowing. Orange interior accent should be optional. Not standard
The Ranger NEEDS a 4 inch lift so it can fit the 37 inch Goodyear Duratracs, Nitto Grapplers or even Mickey Thompson tires with a wider and much MEATIER M/T rock, mud, snow and ice tread!
That makes it the PERFECT trail runner that surpasses any Jeep Rubicon or Ford Bronco Sasquatch Edition! That's what one of my Kelowna Mechanic buddies did with his 2024 Ranger Raptor! He got the 4 inch lift and Nitto Grappler 37's on it and it is a DREAM to drive on our Still-Lotsa-Snow-in-June local Western Canada mountain roads! No issue with grip anymore and it still drives on the local highways and city streets just fine!

I have the same issue with the doors. You really have to slam them. Agree!
6:13 This is true with the Maverick also. It's been "harder" to close than the 17' Focus I traded in. I've heard it's because of the weather stripping and it requires more force to latch all the way.
The door closing sound is actually engineered and IMO, it sounds good compared to other brands.
Well....appearantly the truck has a great vacuum seal in the cab if the door shuts hard with windows up. Thats not a bad thing. Heat and air conditioning will work best and sound deadening traits as well.
I don't think it's something to be seen as a problem.
Nice video. Good info. Well presented. Thanks!
I prefer the ZR2 interior and ride. The RR engine is definently a beast. Lots of potential for more HP.

Hey Tommy. Something off topic. I was in Iceland recently and was using a LandCruiser 200 series on the F roads. It performed flawlessly! However what I found strange was that all of the 4 wheel driver controls were located behind the cup holders. So to access them, I had to take out the bottles and put them on the floor in the back seat. Thought that this was strange set up for such a legendary off road vehicle
Buying over sticker prices is stupid. Just buy used at that point
“Modes”! Don’t get me started on phucking “modes”! After 18 months I ❤ my Ute but “modes” are an illness infecting all new 4x4s. The RRaptor has low range and proper dif locks. Proper proactive traction. Use them and be very happy.
$58k and no rear HVAC vents, nice.
The cab isn’t that big to need it, folks are getting spoiled.
They are on the floor
The ranger is about the same size as f150s 10-15 years ago. Similar amount of materials, manufacturing costs, etc, plus inflation, the price isnt bad at all.
Ford needs to learn from tacomas 3rd gen and move wire light hook ups to the top of bumper not the bottom which toyota had on their 2nd gen tacomas. 58k is a lot though. :( Might rather have something else now a days which is sad. If i was comparing a Tacoma pro tomthis might chose this. Just dor 60k plus I am looking at a Full size and a used UTV.
I'd like to see one of those talking comparisons between this and the cybertruck, including which is getting you more views and which was the better buy for you guys.
Disconnecting the swaybars does help preformance..in the rocks
Still waiting for mine to arrive. No rear vents sucks, but I can live with that. I'm kind of sad to see the issues with the front seats stretching after a week or so of sitting in them. Hopefully Ford has some kind of fix.
You can get these at MSRP and its not hard I found 4 besides the one I bought at MSRP in my area.
At MSRP this is the best mid-size. (At MSRP is key)
Definitely the best in its class, discounting the markup. It's a relative bargain even WITH the markup. If it's the same price as the TRD Pro, it's still a better value. Personally I would not pay markup for one, I just wait a year or two till the hype dies down, but remember a year or two ago people were paying 10 or 15K over sticker for a TRD Pro Tacos and 4Runners that weren't even new.
Great review - as usual!!
This DESTROYS the TRD Pro
$68k at dealers here in the Northeast
Id forego those tiny rear seats for a King Cab.. be sick
Kinda forgot they even bought this truck. Hasn’t been many videos. But I think it’s the best value outside of the ZR2. I like it
You drop a tune with minor upgrades . That truck is going be 500-600 to the wheels easy . That 3.0 from ford is a monster after a tune
Most Ford dealers will sell you one at MSRP if you order it and wait. If you can't wait, then yes you may pay a premium. Never forget that when a new specialty vehicles comes out, manufacturers make the dealers buy $20k->$50k of special equipment to be allowed to sell the new vehicles.
Im genuinely interested in this little truck, i appreciate yall buying it, its barley made it into my feed for some reason tho
My guy tommy forgot that the ranger was selling in Mexico and latinoamerica. The price here is really similar like the US
