0- 60? 60- 80? Fuel efficiency? Turning circle? 60- 0 braking? Brake feel? Transmissions? Transfer cases? Switchable ABS? Different levels of traction control? Towing capacity? How are they in emergency maneuvers? (left right transitions, etc)
Is the $10k delta significant when you consider the AEV upgrades, superior DSSV shocks, 35 inch tires, superior camera system, physical buttons, increased suspension flex, rear vents, etc etc etc.
Does either have a heads up display? Does the sun reflect off the dash and cause glare for the driver?
So many unanswered questions. So much unsaid. So little actually said. You reviewed these like you had 10 minutes with both of them

@@ryanb8736 Actually, I think most people only care about Mall Crawling...and driving over those scary-high curbs/parking-lot divides (let's admit they ARE pretty challenging!) to be found there as well.
In that case, either of these tucks will do.
As for me, I was also looking for a mid-size "Top Dog/off-road-focused/serious 4x4" truck (back in 2021)...got a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. Only the ZR2 was out then -- "technically" available but in reality NOT available due to the chip-shortage) -- there were no Broncos of any kind (just Ford advertising hype/vaporware for almost 2 years) or Ranger Raptor.
Looking at these two trucks, were I buying today I'd still go with a Jeep Gladiator. So far, it's been fine -- no regrets, disappointments or buyer's remorse -- and WAY cheaper in early 2021 than they are now. I'll be keeping it for quite some time...

@@supralyfe1206 I had to get a couple big packages to get the few things I wanted (heated steering wheel, cameras, etc.), and thought the cooled/heated seats were a gimmick (I live where we have winter, and go over a 9,300ft pass to work) because my hands get cold on the wheel in winter but my ass really doesn't, but man, after doing a recent trip to Moab last month for 3 days wheeling, and up to CO for 1 day, on long trips, those cooled seats REALLY make a difference in keeping you from getting swampsack and swampcrack! In fact, most of the things I thought were gimmicks, I really like, so, I'm glad I bought them. I think the only real option I don't have is the Bose audio. Not a real fan of Bose, and the base system sounds pretty decent, but I would have paid the extra $500. I would have PREFERRED to have a factory upgrade to B&O (like I think the Raptor has - I have an '80's Beogram 5500 turntable I love), or maybe Focal speakers (like in my home theater), but it's ok. I'll probably keep the stock head unit and upgrade to Focals if possible. If price is an issue, get a regular ZR2. With the exception of the extra 95hp, it's the Raptor's equal, for $6k (similarly equipped)-$16k (w/dealer markup) less.

Unless someone is doing heavy rock crawling or heavy swamp overlanding, I think the Ranger is better in basically every other situation (including on road to drive to your destinations or as a daily, which can’t be overlooked). Think the Bison is amazing absolutely perfect for a select niche crew, those looking for a great super mid size truck though the Raptor is the one.

I chose a 2024 "regular", fully-loaded w/moonroof, paint protection, window tint, wheel locks blue ZR2, for the $53k MSRP I paid. The moonroof was over $1k and the Raptor doesn't offer one. Not a deal-breaker for me, but I love them. The $6k difference equally equipped plus the inevitable absurd markup ($10k or so) for us that are NOT RUclips famous, made that my choice. Yes, the Ranger Raptor is badass, and I considered one....until I got wind of the markups. Hard nope. For the money I saved, I'll put 285/75/17's (34's) on it because that oem width on the OEM rims should fit in the OEM spare location, and maybe I'll get a mild 1-2" lift, a gas tank and an aluminum rear diff skidplate and maybe a mild engine tune, and I'll have 99% of the Bison at a fraction of the cost. I find the power very adequate, especially at elevation, but I figure a mild tune (performance airbox/filter and cat-back exhaust, maybe a slight ECU re-map) will get me closer to the Raptor (which REQUIRES premium if I remember) and I consider the suspension equal. I'm very much a noob wheeler, and after 3 days in Moab and another in Colorado, it handled everything I threw at it (couple steep bumpy climbs) like it was nothing. WAY more capable than I am, and I plan to get better and grow into it. Nice vid as always, keep 'em coming!

I don't dislike the Raptor (it was on my shortlist)... and the Bison is overkill... so the REAL winner is the standard ZR2 - you get 95% the capability of the Bison at 88% the cost of the Raptor (even cheaper if you factor in dealer markups). The reason the Ford has such better payload than the Chevy is due to all of the off-road specific AEV items on the Bison. Add 35s, heavy duty bumpers, rock rails, underbody armor, etc, to the Ford and the weight will go up quickly, eating into its payload numbers. I realize this is a comparison of off the showroom vehicles, & it’s fair, but if anyone’s planning on adding that stuff to the ford (I know I’d at least want to replace its plastic “skidplates” with metal), it’s worth noting that the payload number can tumble quickly. That said -- ultimately these are two of the best pickup trucks ever made in this segment of offroad mid-size pickup trucks and blow Toyota's offerings away (at least on paper) for the price. The turbo sound is more fun than waking up my neighbors (#goodneighbormode) for the mustang. Interior is better than the Gen2 which I owned brand new. MPG’s are the same as the last ZR2 and it only cost $52K. The Bison is for people that want 2” more from tires and a metal bumper. But you could still put the 35”ers on the 2023 ZR2 and it won’t rub. As a previous owner of a ranger, I would have stuck with it, but good luck finding a Raptor Ranger for less than $80-90k. Real life price matters if you actually try to get one of these beauties. Exterior aesthetic, the Bison wins for me; however it's negated by it's 4 cylinder powertrain and at this point for a truck, I can't compromise. I spend 99% of my time driving around town and hauling my Jetski/bass boat/trailer. The Colorado offers 4x4 AUTO in the Trail Boss trim for bad weather driving, whereas the FORD only offer that in the upper Raptor trim. Also, only the Colorado is flat towable behind a motorhome. Not sure how they compare on towing tech, I know the RR has an integrated brake controller, tow mode and other towing specific features in its software, but not sure how that compares to the Chevy. I’ll likely pick the RR and maybe use the savings to change out the steps to something more protective, add lighting, and bump it to slightly larger tires for additional clearance. Also, from everything I’ve been able to read, the Ford has a better center locker tech and doesn’t rely as heavily on clutches that can get hot and cause reliability issues, but still researching that. Good comparison, thank you!

In Canada the Bison is about $1,000 less than the Raptor, and thsts before the outrageous dealer markups. No ventilated seats, sunroof, or driver seat memory in the Raptor, and it only takes premium. Then take off $14k for the unnecessary bison package and done deal, ZR2 wins!

Love your content and subbed. Great comparison video. As many have said, I would get the regular ZR2 because it is not being marked up by dealers. Dealers' "market adjustment" for the Ranger Raptor, on the other hand, is turning it into the Ranger Ripoff. I can't wait 'til you get your 2024 Land Cruiser First Edition and do a video on it because I'm eyeing that, too.

Why wouldn’t you use the standard Colorado zr2? $8000 cheaper, no spare tire in the bed, $800 for side steps and you get cooled seats. I’m shopping both these trucks now and I’m leaning Ranger but the zr2 Colorado in blue looks badass. All the reviewers complain about the lack of space in the back seats, in both trucks, I’m 5/11 and you just move your drivers seat up a little when you have passengers and the room is fine in the back

They really need to bring back the twin turbo diesel for the Bison. That will put it up there at least with the torque and HP of the Ranger Rapture. Bison option actually cost more than the Ranger Rapture. It just needs a better engine to match.

I’d buy the Raptor today if they didn’t make one fatal mistake, no rear AC. I rode back from lunch with a coworker who has a Bronco. It’s 95 deg in TX. It was miserable. My kids would not survive this summer with no rear AC. So, I’ll keep the current champion, my Gladiator Diesel Rubicon, that has rear AC.

This review is missing a lot of things that should be covered. Also the Ranger Raptor should be compared to the standard ZR2 which you can get fully loaded for 46,000 OTD. I know because that’s what I just got mine for.
The Bison has Fancy bumpers, headrests, and 35s with custom AEV rims. That’s the only difference.
A proper comparison is against the ZR2 because then they are the same size tires and everything and you don’t lose payload either. You get the 1500lbs back and the 6,000 towing back in the standard ZR2

Awesome review! I think it all depends on what you're doing with the truck and where you live. I live in CO and the ZR2 with these options kills on clearance and off-road ability alone, so I'd go ZR2. If I didn't live in a state with massive off-road fun, I'd go Ford because the interior fit and finish is simply better and looks more comfortable. Chevy has always struck out on interior design. I have no idea why they can't make their interiors more ergonomic and there's always a "cheap" factor.
