    As I was the tour bus driver for these people I attended the Jarla Theater this aftrenoon too. Recorded by the swedish television. It was a wonderful experience to be with them for a few days.

    I’m sorry to hear about the loss of Bobby Osborne, last week. My favorite Bluegrass singer. Korea veteran. A great human being. Pure class. ❤Rest in peace.

    Sonny is such a warm and happy person. I would like to send them my appreciation for their music before they die, but don't know how to do it. Love them.

      KevinBorgOfDeath Bobby and Sonny are still alive, Bobby is 86 & Sonny is 79. Brilliant harmonising, one of their best songs is Kentucky.

    This is such a better version of this song than John Denver. So much more soul and meaning in this redition. The Osborne Bros. are an incredible Country Music band. I'm not a big Country music fan, but I could listen to this all day long.

    Love how much the Swedes loved them lol. Bluegrass comes from Scotch/ Irish folk music, which shares influence with Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon traditional.

    It doesn't matter who wrote the tune. The Osborne Brothers owns it, no one can sing it like they can!!

    a interesting fact about this song is it wasn't originally about "West Virginia" it was about "Western Massachusetts" and the pioneer valley, it was written by a dude named Bill Danoff who was from Springfield Mass. Berkshire mountains was Replaced with blue ridge, just as the Connecticut River was replaced by Shenandoah. its a good thing its was changed in the end because If it had stayed about Western Mass I doubt the Osborne's would have covered it.

    Agree. To his credit, John Denver wrote a great song, but Bobby and Sonny really "made it theirs".

    #Raker127 I saw it said that it was given to John Denver by his manager/agent before Johnny Cash could get a hold of it. Or these guys too.

    Stranger to Blue Water? Say it's not so ... "Life is older than the Trees, younger than the Mountains, blowing like a Breeze!" Ha ha, and the Appalachians sprung up well before the Ordovician when they smashed into little ol' North America, It's so true. Better than Denver's version because of the far-away-eyes tempo, nostalgicker by far.

  • @ArtisanTony
    @ArtisanTony 6 лет назад +1

    "life is old there" not "older" :) still a good version :)

    @CTN1995 I think he did it just for fun you had to know how he was back then. He was a big "cut-up" and liked to laugh.

    Love Sonny, but he detracted from the song in both style and loudness on this one. Playing too loud and what he played doesn't go with the tone of the song. And just to clarify, I'm a HUGE Osborne Brothers fan.

    The bass player needs an upright instead of the electric hard hitting sound he has. Sound sucks.
