The Osbourne Brothers were born and raised in Leslie County Kentucky. Thats where i grew up. I saw them in concert in Hyden Kentucky in about 1977. It was a elementary school field trip. I think I was in first grade at the time. I was young but I rember they put on a great show.
That is a really cool story. I'm 42, female, married to a banjo player and wasn't introduced to bluegrass until 15 when I met my husband. We listen to a wide range of 'country' music but bluegrass just feels like a cornerstone for everything after. Ruby is a great song. Not for everybody, but definitely for me and you sounds like.

my wife's grandmother was named Ruby..she lived a hard life and was tough as nails. she was always sweet to me. rest in peace, Ruby.

I loved his version of the Wabash cannonball but what is a tear jerker is when he forgot some of the words. He always said that he was doing this song for Mr Roy Acuff at every concert he did. He definitely kept thar song alive. Rip boxcar

I like symphonic metal bands like Nightwish but MAN THIS IS GREAT! Thanks to the bluegrass group Mountain Highway who performed this piece in concert at the Memories Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN. Their rendition was so captivating it motivated me to search out the original, so here I am!
