Do y'all ever make baked spaghetti at home?
...never heard of it Not sure there isn't MSG in the seasoned salt, but baked is so much healthier than deep fried.
I make a similar version with cream cheese! So decadent!!!
This is in my rotation often… a family favorite for sure!!
@@morgancalvi6675 there’s not, but MSG makes everything even more delicious. I add it in almost everything
My biggest struggle has always been the Angel Hair sticking together… I never would’ve thought to spray it!! Thanks 😊
Before layering I mix the spaghetti with the sauce as that ensures there are no dry pockets of pasta.I then layer with ricotta or cottage cheese and mozzarella..I like the meat finely minced so there are no large chunks and everyone has some meat in their serving.
The sauce will cover w/o mixing
I make baked spaghetti about once a month. We love it and I love the fact that it makes 3 meals for me and my husband and I always have half left to give away to one of my friends, the assistant manager at SaveALot. They’re right next door to my business. That’s where half of my baked goods go. I use ground beef (chunky like yours) and also Italian sausage. Just a pound of each. Since I work 70 hours a week I buy ragu or prego spaghetti sauce and just doctor it up a little. Your sauce looks easy enough that I will try it. Love you sweet lady. ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Hi Roberta, do you know if you can freeze it and then bake later? I think this would make a great freezer meal.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 You can bake it, let it cool and then freeze it for later. I’ve done that. But honestly, since everything is cooked in it I’m sure you can just assemble it, cover it with foil and freeze for 2-3 months. Once it’s frozen if you have a vacuum sealer you could vac seal it and keep it for a year or more. I vac seal all of my amish bread and it keeps over two years.
When my 3 children was at home, I would double the sauce and noodles. We would have regular spaghetti then with the leftovers, I would put the baked spaghetti together then freeze it. When I had a busy day, I would pull it out of the freezer for a quick meal
How long do you bake it for once pulling out of the freezer? And at what oven temp?
Looks delicious!! Never made baked spaghetti but I'm going to try that recipe Paula. Thanks for the recipe
Thanks Paula!! I also make this and sometimes add mushrooms, green peppers or pepperoni....even ground sausage or ground pork. It is a hit, your right! Also, it tastes amazing to add some sour cream to the meat sauce too.....kind of like a lasagna sauce, super creamy. Just YUM!!! OH, and, I agree. I actually make it ahead one day, then, refrigerate, heat it up, and eat it on the second day. Even better! Your super fan from USA now living in Indonesia......
Wow, love your recipe even better!!!!
Looks sooo delicious yes love my meat chunky ♥️
Eating comfort foods especially now with all that is happening Worldwide so important for one's psyche!
The baked Spaghetti looks delicious!
Enjoy a safe day, Paula...
Hey Paula! I look forward to your videos being posted every morning! I have loved watching you for years! I just love that sweet southern accent & your energy is so amazing! Sending love ❤️ from Indianapolis, Indiana!
I have to say I got a kick out of this recipe. I actually over 40 years ago made a very hearty dinner very similar. I would start with 4 chicken breasts seasoned with garlic and Italian seasoning and place in oven to bake. I would then brown my ground beef and make a very similar sauce but I would add a tbsp of sugar. Boil up a large pot of rotini. Then mix the noodles with the sauce. Cut up my chicken not shred scatter on top then top with mozzarella cheddar and parmesan. Bake for 30 minutes and the becomes extremely quiet. With young children this is a wonderful peace like no other. Thank you for reminding me of those beautiful memories.
Gotta start my morning off with something delicious coming from that kitchen of yours. Along with that smile🥰👍❤️
agree
Never really baked my spaghetti, but I'm up for trying it, thank you miss Paula, 👍🙏❤️😎
I made something similar the other day with ravioli. Delicious!
I've done that as well!
I make too much sauce, so I freeze it. I am going to have to make it. I love spaghetti bake, it is a nice change and so good with a nice salad, and of course garlic bread. Love you, Paula.
Paula! Good Morning! I have never made baked spaghetti, and I like the way you make yours. I also do all of my tomato cooking with crushed ( and stewed!) Sending love from family to Yours!
Canned diced tomatoes usually have an additive called calcium chloride, which is a firming agent. If you are making something like chili or a stew/soup then canned diced tomatoes might be better cuz they stay in chunks.
This is one of my all time favorite recipes of yours! Been making it for years!❤️
Baked spaghetti is one of many favorites in our house we use a bit of mushrooms in the sauce and ice in a while when we have it on hand ricotta cheese in it ... and when we want fancy we will put a layer of fresh spinach in it right top the sauce layer under the cheese. Mmmmm my mouth waters at the recall. Thanks Paula, I love being in your kitchen with you. It’s wonderful what you do.
I love the idea of BAKED spaghetti! 🍝💜😋 The dance at the end seals the deal on YUMMY! 😁💃
I made this for dinner tonight. I used angle hair spaghetti like you said and I also left the beef in larger chunks like you recommended. This was so good. I didn’t have cheddar, so we used mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. We loved this dish. Thanks for sharing
I can't wait to make this! And..............I learned several things.. ... I have never used angel hair pasta, I have never sprayed the pasta with oil out of the can, and I did not know about using crushed tomatoes! We are going to love, love your recipe! Thank you again.
Same I was shocked to see her do that lol.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 Yep..........me too! I never knew!
Every year in Nov I take my vacation to cook for a deer camp about an hour from my home. Baked spaghetti is one of the entrees I cook simply because it's delish and feeds a multitude of starving hunters. I make 2 of those 13×9×2 pans and serve green beans, salad, and rolls with it along with a dessert. If there's any left, it will be devoured the next morning. Thanks, Paula for all you do. You are truly an inspiration.
I have never made baked spaghetti & needed this recipe! Thanks so much. Love you Paula-your energy reminds us all to be so thankful for the many blessings we experience every day & to enjoy life💕❤️💕
Paula I just love you!! We watched your cooking shows in the past and used so many of your fabulous dishes. So glad to have found your channel!!! Give me a dish with butter or cheese and I'm there. Love ya!!
You have 2 years worth of these cooking shows to catch up on lol They're better than the old TV show to me.
Back when I was a kid & mom made spaghetti sauce she always said if it wasn't simmering by a certain time it wouldn't be good...the flavors had to mesh together she would say. She slow simmered it for at least a couple hours. Same when she cooked a pot of pinto beans!
O, my friend Roberta's mom added a good-sized spoon of honey to her spaghetti sauce & it was delicious, too.
I will try this! I have never made Baked Spaghetti, but this looks so good, I can hardly stand it! Thanks, Miss Paula. Love to you, Eddie, Theresa and family!
I do this to get rid of spaghetti sauce after eating it for a day or two. Great for leftovers and somehow tastes like something new. Delicious.
I love baked spaghetti in restaurants, so I'll try this @ home. Thanks, Paula Deen!
It looks delicious. I have never made baked spaghetti and mom never made it in general because my picky brother wouldn’t eat red sauce. Leaving chunks of meat is a great idea it’s like having a meatball with every bite. I’ll have to try your recipe.
We make this but we put minced pork too and boiled eggs on each layer also we cut up mortadella meat put it with the eggs and cheeses but we use spiral pasta it’s delish
Good morning Paula ♥️ I use a jarred sauce which still needs some help with seasonings. I do mine just like you do. I like using Bucatini pasta. Its like a straw because it is open-ended. Sauce can creep down inside it.
Hi, I'm going to look for that Bucatini, friend! Sounds good.
Gaye Furlow
@@billiefurlow1585 Perciatelli pasta is another tubular pasta if you can't find bucatini.
@@stacey5925 So good to see you on here this morning sharing your wealth of knowledge. Hope you are feeling better.
@@tennesseeiris701 Hi Tennessee I! Thank you. You are so sweet! I feel pretty good, still watching those calories and "eating" my carbs through television, (with my eyes) like Paula's dish today. How are you doing!
@@stacey5925 Pretty good also but one of my biggest problems is I don't just "eat" my carbs through TV. I know you can't give out too much info on here but I have been wondering how your doctor visit went. Hoping all your hard work showed with your numbers.
Instead of spraying the noodles, you can put just a little olive 🫒 oil in the pot when they're boiling. 👌
Italians would not put oil in the boiling water.
If you add oil to your pasta water the sauce will not stick to the noodles/
@@ryneallen5163 not an issue here You're baking it. Its not like regular spaghetti. I just suggested the oil in the noodles because she said to spray them, Its better to add a little oil to keep them from sticking than to spray. But, I really dont think either one is necessary. If I had to pick I'd rather add a tiny bit of healthy olive oil. 🙂
@@Samantha-ys2pp bet they definitely wouldn't spray the noodles with cooking spray though!
@@charitys.3862 Yes, I really don't like when she uses that spray on food. It wasn't meant to be used like that, and she is misleading so many by doing so. It's not healthy! People need to read labels...a wake up call to what exactly is in it.
This is what I do with leftover sauce and spaghetti. I mix it together and layer it with cheeses and Italian seasoning. We love it!
Just made this today on this beautiful Sunday It is incredible, but you know I had to have way more cheese, seasoning and way more meat sauce lol! Thanks Paula for this simple easy delicious recipe
😋 yummy looking. I've never made baked spaghetti 🍝 before. I'm going to try this dish. Thanks for sharing...
I LOVE LOVE this recipe.. I have made it for years during our group camping trips... I am known as the Paula Dean of the campground... I bake it in a cast iron Dutch Oven
I have been making this recipe for years and it is my daughter's favorite. I just recently made it for her for mother's day.
Perfectly prepared! I’m making this for my sweet grandkids soon!❤️😋
My mom used to make baked spaghetti, so good, brings back memories!
🍝🍝🍝 Baked spaghetti?! Thanks again y'all! I'm getting ready to baked the spaghetti with sauce for this! 🍝🍝🍝
Looks scrumptious! Mmm
Never had this growing up. I’m Italian but I learned from southern cooks here in FL that they put onions/green pepper, smoked sausage in their sauce (I call it red gravy) 😂 and it changes the whole dish! That’s good as well!
I’ll be making this bc Paula did that happy dance so you know it’s delish!! ❤️
MMMMM...reminds me of school days. Baked spaghetti day was the best.
Always love your cooking Paula thank you again for a wonderful recipe
I have never made bake spaghetti. That looks delicious. 🥰😽
Thank you for sharing this recipe with us. I like baked spaghetti . It looks delicious.
Those helping hands (4:36) are so cute!
I will be making baked spaghetti tonight for dinner. Looks delicious!
Looks good! Nice and easy for a busy weekday meal. TY, Paula, for sharing. Love the videos.
🤤🤤 I love the happy dance while eating! my BF does the same thing. it is hysterical!
I learned something new! Spray the spaghetti so it won’t be sticky! I love that trick!!!
Made this morning. I added a diced jalapeño. Really good!!!
I just made it last night. Hadn't seen your recipe but seems like I did something very close...put spices in I thought would make it delicious. While this dish is a good one for family meals....pasta and butter, oh my! Could eat it all by itself (just add salt and pepper). PS...I love your glasses!!!
Sounds good 👍
I like the pot sized pasta!! I’ve never thought of keeping the big chunks of beef!!
So glad to see Paula again. There's no substitute for her!!
For sure, but I use leftover gravy to make the baked spaghetti.
A hit always with family and friends. Yummy
Gravy in Spaghetti??
@@charitys.3862 Charity, some Italians call sauce gravy. Sunday gravy is a must in some families, having a pasta dish on Sunday is a very special tradition. My grandma always had some sort of pasta dish with tomato sauce too, but we never called it gravy. I guess it depends on how and where they were raised.
Meat sauce, which mine is usually beef and pork.
@@cheryl1248 we always made our sauce with some cut of pork, like country style ribs, chops or pork neck bones, but then "fished" the meat out and served on the side. Funny how different traditions are. 🤔
@@stacey5925 oh ok. I was picturing like biscuit gravy. Yuck. Lol
Chef John suggests putting a little baking soda in your sauce to reduce the acidity in addition to the sugar. I've never tried that though.
Yes, it works, just be sure to just use a pinch. When you stir it will bubble and foam, so lower your heat and don't have your sauce pot full to the brim or you will have a mess! I would not use sugar.
Made this tonight and it was a hit!! Will be making it again!! Thanks, Paula!
What did she spray on noodles?
I made your recipe today and it was a big hit!!! Thank you, Paula💖
Great recipe Paula. I have not ever made this dish. Nice baked spaghetti. Good thinking on the ground beef. I like it chunky myself. What a winner! Thank you.
I want to make some! That looks amazing💕
Oh Paula!! Yum is right trying this for my lucky family!! You are the Crème dal la Crème Chef sweet southern lady!!!
Hi Miss Paula! I would love to share your baked spaghetti with you! It looks so delicious and comforting. It’s going to be the next recipe of yours that I try! ❤️🍴👩🏻🍳❤️
I enjoy a salad and garlic bread with the baked spaghetti.
Had it as a kid! Will definitely make this in my home, now.
YUMMY!!! Only thing missing now is garlic bread and salad!!!
This looks great! And yes, I agree with the angel hair & big chunks of meat (my husband likes to beat it to a pulp!!! Love the tip on spraying the pasta!! Will do next time! Thanks for another great one Paula!
This Baked Spaghetti recipe looks so delicious Paula.

😋 looks delicious!
My mom used to make this!❤
Amazing looked fabulous recipes like restaurant looks 💗💕💞❤Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones you'll start having positive results.! 😍
Mmmmm, this is good with sweet Italian sausage or small meatballs or even chicken! I'd say its a cheap and easy meal, but nothing is cheap anymore!!!
Looks delicious 😋. Yummy!
Oh my gosh, miss Paula, this is what's for dinner tonight! 😋🙏
You're pretty brave cooking spaghetti sauce wearing white!!! LOL!!!
Oops! I forgot to say that I am absolutely "G-R-E-E-N" with envy at the stoves and ovens you have in your kitchen. What a fabulous setup. I am blesses with a huge kitchen and new gas stove so should not complain.
Looks yummy!!! 😊
Crushed tomatoes in purée is the way to go. Not many Italians in the south? In the northeast we have a large population and wonderful Italian deli’s.
How I miss those stores and deli's! I am in the south now, and there is nothing here that remotely compares to those stores...and produce, and specialty items.
I love my home canned tomatoes, cant beat em! But, my garden did poorly last summer didn't get to many. Hope this summers better.
@@charitys.3862 I canned a lot last year, still using therm up....nothing beats home grown!
@@stacey5925 We're gonna try a raised box garden this year. Maybe if we can get to it, have so many projects going, we need to finish the fence around the property, and many others.
@@charitys.3862 Sounds like a lot of work. I love being outside and gardening. I actually garden with whiskey barrels! I plant two tomato plants in each and had an abundance of tomatoes last year. The barrels are arranged so it's part of a garden landscape, with them staggered at different heights, perennial flowers and plants surrounding. Too bad I can't show you pictures here. At the base of my palm tree, I plant zucchini around it, makes a pretty, soft green base, plus I get zucchini!
Love this recipe!
Looks Delicious !!!
2/28/22: I will. . .make this for my dinner on 3/1/22.
Looks delicious Paula!
I like the baked spaghetti have to try it
It must be a southern thing to put cheddar in spaghetti.
NOPE, never!
It looks very yummmy
Where did you get the gorgeous tea kettle???
Paula, I love you! You are adorable to watch and I absolutely love your recipes and ideas on foods. Tomorrow night we are having the baked spaghetti you made. May this next year bless you and your family with health, peace and love! God bless you.
Looks yummy!!! 🍝😋
