Years ago, I met someone from Romania of all places. She told me that where she came from, they never put salt, sand, or anything on the roads. They did plow. They had to do that, but they didn't purposely dump any debris on the roads. What they did have was a very strict chain law and all drivers were expected to obey it. Cars did better there than they do here and this was back when winters still packed a punch. It goes to prove, it's not the water, snow, or ice that causes the undercarriage to rust out. 2019 Highlander is the best riding car ever and finally mine. Poor man finally paid up. Still using my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 I bought in 2001. Take care of them and pay them off and be satisfied.
Had a 1984 mustang GT. Bought a new Gt40 moter plus had to update the the manual transmission, and true dual exhaust. Because of the true exhaust when hitting 100 mph sounds crazy that you couldn't hear the back pressure or engine running. What happens is the exhaust is full of continuous exhaust that theirs no back pressure.
I'll be honest, if I ever find a Yugo for sale I might make an offer on it. I'll enter it in car shows as a curiosity. A lot of people under 40 have never even seen one in person. I bet a lot of people that know about them would have a story about someone they knew that owned one.
I bought a 2004 repo Ford Expedition with 220k on it. I have put new filters and fluids regularly for 20k more miles......runs and looks great!!! Bought for $3k.
There is on oil so cars with good gas mileage(Japanese and Korean cars) will probably go up, I’m not an expert so could be completely wrong and hope I am
ethanol?- here I use MOONSHINE- sometimes.. put some in a 72 Mavierick just before rebuilding it- and when I took the engine apart , it was clean as whistle inside- NO carbon at all- and running it made the engine stronger- it would burn the wheels off it!! :)
I think it depends. The Lexus ES models are FWD and a lot of them are based off the Camry platform and share parts so the maintenance is cheaper. The Lexus RX is an AWD SUV so of course the maintenance is going to be more expensive for both of those reasons. You can lower your maintenance costs by going to a Toyota dealership for maintenance instead of a Lexus dealership, or even better, going to an independent mechanic for cheaper maintenance.
Really?! Do you have any idea of what the economic inflation did to the car market the past 4 years? It's gonna take at least 2-3 years to get cars back to reality prices.

Hey Scotty, I have a question for you. I have a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic LTZ. Turbo hatchback I need to know whether or not you think it's a good idea to put a new engine in it and all new parts. The mechanic came and told me that the engine is gone. It had antifreeze in the motor oil? Thank you
I don’t think so. There’s a surplus of new cars and lot rot everywhere. It’s going to take about 3 months for these tariffs start pinching your wallet. I believe most dealers have 9 months inventory available to them. There’s never a good time to buy a used car, especially a good one. Btw, we’re screwed. You’re living at the end of the American empire. It’s sad.
Toyota's last... until they rust away... and they do, really fast. They don't even put cheap paint on parts underneath. Ever seen a Drive Shaft rust out... look under a Toyota!
You have to go to a self wash car wash a couple days after snow so you can rinse the control arms and suspension - if you don't want your control arms springs and sway bars rusting out.
If you're reading this, Mr. Scott honest question. I buy mid grade parts for my vehicles. Is that substantial? Should I just buy the lesser grade parts or the higher ? Meaning: I don't buy the cheapest parts, and I don't buy the more expensive, I meet in the middle as far as pricing goes. Is that still a good deal? Should I do more research?
I have a 2003 Matrix, the body looks great, both frame rails are eat up with rust due to Michigan salt. I dropped it off to have tires put on it, they called me next day to come down the shop, He had up on the lift, he told me to have a look, asking me are you sure you want to more money into it?, both rails bottom are gone, it look like upside down C-channels. I am trying to find some frame repair rails i can Tig weld or find a western car with a blown engine. It's a shame this thing runs great. but one pothole could make for a real bad day. Thanks Scotty for what do, It's greatly appreciated.
I hope you find a good donor car. Sounds like you got really lucky the tire shop was honest enough to point out a safety risk. I'm going to mention that welding under the car is high risk activity. Fuel lines, tank are the obvious thing to remove fully. Your wiring harness losing insulating jacket from welding in the vicinity can result in a new nightmare. Finally: Road tar, undercoating and paints can be highly flammable. I would try to find a good southern donor Matrix without that rust issue. Power wash it underneath in the summer, get it super dry, and do a thorough undercoating of rust inhibitors that perform well in your weather fluctuations. Good luck. Be safe.
@@Greg-io1ip Yes I did with the tire shop, it was a Bell tire shop and all Bell tire shops are not known for their integrity, My brother was a fleet manager for semi trucks, and did I lot of business with them, and referred me. The Mercury Mariner, Ford escape, and Mazda tribute are all the same car made with parts from both Ford and Mazda and they are bullet proof with proper maintenance. The only problem with the V6 engine is the alternator is an expensive job to replace because it's behind the engine compared to the 4 cylinder is in the front. So if you ever have to replace the alternator make sure you buy a quality one so you won't have to deal with it for the next decade. And stay away from the hybrids because the transmission is none serviceable so people beat them down. Just my knowledge as an owner of a 2012 2.5 I4 ford escape XLT owner who does his own maintenance, and AAA driver who has to tow the hybrid versions with tranny problems. @@nickcoleman4702
Hi Scotty, l am a big fan, but on the ford 150 should run some E85 in it to help keep those injectors clean. Owner may find it will run better with a mixture. I go back and forth with my dodge and it runs great. Just saying...keep the videos coming. 🙂
I want to get my truck to Scotty so he can look at it - I want him to tell me if I should keep it or give it away I either have to ship it or bring Scotty up to Chicago
Its funny, here in central PA we have more ethal free pumps than e85 pumps. I dont look for it but i dont see e85 much at all around here. I would never buy a flex fuel car. But if i did only gas would go into it. Ethanol needs to be outlawed
Trump is incompetent but sometimes manufacturers need to get dinged for making disposable cars that are overpriced and too complicated as well. I'm still seeing what this countrywide enema is going to do. Maybe a few good things will happen after we bottom out completely. Nowhere to go but up. We're almost there!
So the gist of your posts lately are that if you bought a brand new car,10, 15, 20 years ago you bought in the last era of high reliability in cars. Sounds good.

Good video
I bought a 2004 repo Ford Expedition with 220k on it. I have put new filters and fluids regularly for 20k more miles......runs and looks great!!! Bought for $3k.
No Tariffs announced on Japan or Korean products.
There is on oil so cars with good gas mileage(Japanese and Korean cars) will probably go up, I’m not an expert so could be completely wrong and hope I am
I fixed all the "lights" on in my car--- I put black electrical tape over them.. no more lights!! :)
ethanol?- here I use MOONSHINE- sometimes.. put some in a 72 Mavierick just before rebuilding it- and when I took the engine apart , it was clean as whistle inside- NO carbon at all- and running it made the engine stronger- it would burn the wheels off it!! :)

I drive 2004 Lexus RX , Lexus is extremely expensive to maintain if something needs fixed. It goes into thousands not hundreds.
Can’t be…! Surely…!! Remember when the Fed was printing all of those Trillions and TRILLions and TRILLIONS, of shiny new ‘free US dollars’ and their retail Bank Mates, where shovelling them all out their doors in wheelbarrows in 0% loans so you US Folks could buy anything, you liked, including, as many $100,000 Truks, as you liked, all, at 0% interest rates, and as a consequence all them thar good ole Truk Stealers, kept right on pumpin up all of them Truk prices, even ..higher..! Well, …the Day, of Reckoning, ..HAS ARRIVED…! 🙄
you don’t know what inflation means dawg, google it.
Do you really think car prices are going to drop?
It took 2 weeks for trump to crash it! Lol😂
@@stanzilla5330I voted for Trump and I was hoping stocks would crash, time to buy the dip!
If you have a recession proof job, this is a golden opportunity
Can you give a recommendation on a car that isn’t over 20 years old
I know some guys that run their drag cars on E85.
People will pay more if they want thier brand. If not many makes still are assembled in usa
Hey, Scotty Trump just announced that Toyota is his favorite auto manufacturer.
Thank you
If you can get a donor motor and labor to installed and done Correctly for cheap😂
@funtimeproductions5121 Any recommendations for Clayton, Henry or Fulton county? Have you heard of Christian Bros?
Used cars about to rise in value now as new vehicles decreasing due to tariffs as most models made in Mexico, China & Canada.
Nah
I don’t think so. There’s a surplus of new cars and lot rot everywhere. It’s going to take about 3 months for these tariffs start pinching your wallet. I believe most dealers have 9 months inventory available to them. There’s never a good time to buy a used car, especially a good one. Btw, we’re screwed. You’re living at the end of the American empire. It’s sad.
scotty kilmer makes me feel better about getting my 2000 celica gt
But What about those cheaper eggs and lower prices!?
Thanks Scotty for finding the best values out there!
Toyota's last... until they rust away... and they do, really fast. They don't even put cheap paint on parts underneath. Ever seen a Drive Shaft rust out... look under a Toyota!
It’s called oil based undercoating. And it’s not just Toyotas.
You have to go to a self wash car wash a couple days after snow so you can rinse the control arms and suspension - if you don't want your control arms springs and sway bars rusting out.
Dealer car wash still not enough? Yikes
@AK-nw7tr Dealer? 😆 I wouldn't go to any type of spinning brush or cloth car washes. They put scratches in your paint. Many many fine scratches.
Ps what does a charcoal box do never heard of one???
I have a 2000 toyota eco they say it's only good up to 200:000 miles and the charcoal box is out should I get a new engine.miles 186000
Pissing in the wind😂
I went in to dealer to get abs serviced and they said it would be $1200 to replace the modules. I said, "no thanks". Still driving it 6 years later.
😂😂😂
@@princeprempeh2563 If the ABS light went off, I would miss it.
That ain’t all he is gonna crash
If you're reading this, Mr. Scott honest question. I buy mid grade parts for my vehicles. Is that substantial? Should I just buy the lesser grade parts or the higher ? Meaning: I don't buy the cheapest parts, and I don't buy the more expensive, I meet in the middle as far as pricing goes. Is that still a good deal? Should I do more research?
He will tell you to go OEM every time.
Why would the ford f150 be affected by tariffs?
Some of the engines are built in Mexico and shipped here.
Repeating yourself might be a sign of early onset dementia.
Scotty's ridiculous
Scotty is an Bidenite with TDS.😂
You said that already
Easy fix.
They can make them here.
This RUclips drama around tariffs that are only being used as a “bargaining tool” is absurd.

You read my mind! I was wondering, hmmm, now what car am I gonna get? Perfect video for these concerning times. Thanks!
Thanks for the heads up on the welding, this thing runs too good just to scrap it.
I'd like to bring back the old American cycle cars from the 1800s.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THE 2005 MAZDA TRIBUTE IS A SOLID LITTLE CAR? IT IS IDENTICAL TO THE FORD ESCAPE DURING THOSE YEARS. IT HAS A 3.0L V6 DOHC . WILL THIS CAR LAST 300-500K MILES WITH RELIGIOUS MAINTENANCE?
Maxdas are great
Do regular filter and fluid changes.@@nickcoleman4702
@nickcoleman4702 I heard that they were a great SUV
WE have 4 winter tires (snow) on our car. Hey, snows not only help acceleration but also braking traction.
Hi Scotty, l am a big fan, but on the ford 150 should run some E85 in it to help keep those injectors clean. Owner may find it will run better with a mixture. I go back and forth with my dodge and it runs great. Just saying...keep the videos coming. 🙂

Its funny, here in central PA we have more ethal free pumps than e85 pumps. I dont look for it but i dont see e85 much at all around here. I would never buy a flex fuel car. But if i did only gas would go into it. Ethanol needs to be outlawed
