ANOTHER CLIENT HORROR STORY | WHY YOUR HAIR WON'T LOOK LIKE THE INSPIRATION PHOTO

- Susan strikes again! Ok... different Susan this time, but she's just as bad. This was a story that I posted a while back and have since deleted, but I wanted to retell it in a calmer way lol. This story also teaches a really good lesson on why color will look different in real life versus a photo. Hopefully you find this entertaining and learn something from it! :)

They're called "inspiration" photos not "identical" photos lol
Yes!!!! This should be posted in every salon!! WHATEVER PHOTOS YOU BRING TO YOUR STYLIST, KNOW THAT IT WILL BE AN INSPIRATION PHOTO NOT AN EXACT PREDICTED OUTCOME!
@@smilejesuslovesyou8108 hahah right... We're beauticians not magicians
Exactly! I went in to get all my hair cut off. (Classic shortish on top and shaved on the sides) they said the curl won’t be the same and I said I know just this cut style like the curls will definitely be different. It turned out amazing and the curls of course weren’t like the pic. I never expected them to be though and it’s perfect for my curls
exactly! I always bring in something and a few different somethings and specifically ASK my stylist what she thinks will look the best, fall the best, what tones would work better with my skin tone, etc. because she's the professional and I trust that she's going to (similar to Sam) provide me with all the information and tell me, if you do XYandZ it will be like this, but if we do something like ABC you'll like the outcome more :)
I like to make an album of 5-7 photos when I get my haircut. I recently got bangs and just pointed out my favorite part of a few and it has always worked. I dont ever change the main length I get cut off for functionality reasons so my stylist just makes sure I dont want it any shorter and then we go. Its great
To all the hairstylists that give a discount to Susans just because they throw a fit: KNOW YOUR WORTH HUNNY CHARGE THEM EVERY PENNY
Greta J also that’s why they keep doing that. They get more entitled each time.
I don't know about that. If they know they made a mistake or didn't give what the client wanted, they should fix it for free or if that's not possible, give a discount. The two last times i cut my hair they cut it several inches shorter than I asked, I need to tie it up for work, the first one admitted his mistake yet didn't offer me a discount or even a blow dry. The second wouldn't even admit his wrongdoing, made a bunch of excuses and they charged me triple what they estimated, for a simple wash, cut and blowdry that I asked for. They charged me for flat ironing my hair that I didn't ask for and because of the time it took for the cut, which was supposed to be up to the collar bone with long layers and he gave me a straight, flat shoulder length cut. I'm sure they had that mentality of charging every penny, even though they don't deserve it because of their inflated ego aka self worth. And they probably thought me telling them it was too short and that it wasn't the price they had originally told me, was me "throwing a fit", when it was just the truth.
elines acevedo girl there’s a difference between being a Susan throwing a fit, a genuine mistake, and a shitty stylist 🤷🏼♀️ maybe find a better hairdresser lol
elines acevedo also an estimate is called an estimate for a reason. It’s an estimated amount. Not the exact amount. If you’re broke and not willing to pay the stylists worth, find someone cheaper. Can’t walk in and request a 12$ haircut with thick hair down to ur ass sweetheart
@@gretaj2214 A better hairdresser? That's just the thing. I've been to several stylists and most are just shitty, self-aggrandizing, egomaniacal people. If I go in asking for a wash, cut and dry and they give me an estimate of say $30, they butcher my hair and then ask for $90, you think that's fair? I wish I had thick hair I could grow down to my waist! I needed like 3 or 4 inches cut max, and they decide to cut like half a foot of my length when I specifically asked them not to cut it so short I couldn't tie it up for work. Then because of his inability to cut proper layers he flat irons my hair without asking or telling me it's an extra cost, and you think it's fair because it's just an "estimate, not the exact amount"? Do you even know what the point of an estimate is? It's supposed to be approximate to the amount. 3X more is not at all approximate, especially if it's in something you are trained to do. That is a scam! I probably should have gone all Susan on their asses and refused to pay that inflated amount. I should have just walked out actually, not given them a dime. Learned my lesson. Those asshole stylists are what create "Susans".
Never seen pink lipstick look too well on anyone until today
Rose McGowan from Charmed also looks great in pink /fuchsia lipstick. Me, not so much!
Katlyn Shelton seriously
Yes ! She’s always wearing bold and pretty pink colors I could never pull those off !❤️❤️😩
I noticed that too! ❤
I'm way too polite amd empathetic to ever tell my hairstylist that I don't like it lol
Just Jello same one time I asked for a chocolate kinda color I showed her pics and everything and she gave me BLONDE chunky highlights and I told her I loved it then I got in the car and balled my eyes out
same! I once had tears streaming down my face while telling the stylist “wow thanks I love it” just because I didn’t have the nerve to tell her it was horrendous
I’ve only done it once. I went in for a trim, showed the stylist exactly where I wanted it to fall and he took an extra three inches off while I had my back to the mirror. When I got mad, he got an attitude and told me I had a ton of damage and he had to cut it off.
If you can’t be honest with the hairdresser then that isn’t the stylist for you. As long as your are polite we can take constructive criticism from clients.
@@thatblondechick ill tell them things like "could we maybe lighten it a little more here" or "I was thinking it would be more layered" etc but id never say like "i dont like it/hate it"
She probably just pulls that crap so she gets a discount
Yeah, she did complain about how expensive the micro blading treatment was, so...
I know people who admittedly do that crap on purpose for that reason.
I drive for a company that's very lenient about complaint s. I have read on Reddit people complain on purpose all the time for free stuff.
@@rachelosborne5982 That is just awful.
She is. I have a great-aunt who did that all the time to get free service or a discount and she's banned from every hair salon in our town. She has to drive 50 minutes back and forth outside the city to get her hair done because everyone closer refuses to take her on as a client. I guess you can say she learned her lesson the hard way.
I had a reverse experience. When I was a teen, I went to an upscale salon with an inspo photo and asked if I could have it done. The hairdresser had a look at it, and sent me to make an appointment. After I left, she proceeded to talk shit about me with the client she was working on. How my hair was not a good fit for that particular haircut, how she would just do it and charge me extra for other services. How I would just pay because I seemed like a ditzy teen with too much money. She was horrid. I'm sure you are asking yourself how I found out about her behavior. The client she was working on, and decided to talk shit to, was my mother.
LifeofX yeah! Wow. 😮
My jaw dropped reading your story. :( what a witch
Lmfaoo good! I hope she's gone
Sorry for asking but how do you know she was talking about you after you left?
@@Dovahbabe I’m assuming that she only went in to book the appointment and then leaving to do whatever else she was doing in town, while her mom was getting her hair done so that she wasn’t just sitting around
I’m a nurse so I have had plenty of healthcare Susans... but I can’t imagine having to carry on doing a susans hair with a smile on my face while being treated like crap. You are a saint
i really hate my name. they always sound so rude.
You should do a video about problematic patients!! I'd be so interested to hear about your experiences
sardonic I can’t - HIPAA lol
Nothing2Where I never said patients are “problematic”. Never used that term. I said I don’t know how she can continue to do people’s hair with a smile on her face after getting treated like crap. In nursing, you can take a step away and gather yourself. You can’t do that at a salon, you have to finish their hair while in an awkward situation. I’m a psych nurse and I’ve been treated like complete trash but I absolutely love my job working with the severely persistent mentally ill population in the community in their homes and it’s my passion, and I’m going to be a psych NP. But guess what, there are patients out there that while yes, are sick, CHOOSE to be rude and I’m sorry If you allow patients to cross boundaries but sometimes it is absolutely unacceptable. And I am allowed to be frustrated about that. Nursing isn’t rainbows and butterflies.. it’s hard most of the time. I’ve been threatened, screamed at, called nasty names, charged at, doors slammed in my face.. all in the community in the clients environment which can include crack houses as well as bad neighborhoods and thank God I have never been assaulted. I LOVE being a nurse. But the reality is is that we have feelings too and it is possible to be frustrated and annoyed about it and still be a caring and compassionate nurse and take care of the rude patients WITH a smile on my face.
Nothing2Where She didn’t use the term problematic , another user who is not a nurse did. No comment was ever edited
My mom is Susan but luckily she's not *A Susan* 😂
Melissa Stephan I hear you...my mums name is Karen...but she’s not a “Karen” lol
I'm so socially awkward that a hairdresser could shave me bald and I'd still put on a smile, say I liked it and pay 😂
Lol I used to be bad about that too. I finally grew a shiny spine but it took a loooong time.
Shan B omgg i feel you😭 i am that person too
And tip 😩😩😩
I was the same way but I've worked really hard to overcome it. I think as long as you're polite, there shouldn't be a problem. I guess the way I see it is, I'll be polite but try to get what I want (within reason) because I'm paying. For example I had a stylist cut my hair but she didn't put hardly any layers like I asked for. I nicely asked of she could cut some more and it was fine! If they have an issue with that, that's their problem not mine. I had to get over the fact that not everyone will like me and that's okay! But I haven't had any problems yet!
Same here, lol!!!
She might be trying to scam hair stylist by being so fussy and difficult she will get a discount each time.
Spot on
SugarTitsAway yep sounds that way
I've heard of people doing that! That's so awful
Unfortunately people do this all the time.
That was my initial thought. People do this all the time in all situations.
It really boggles my mind that people think their hair can look EXACTLY like someone else's wtf, thats not normal. I get inspiration pictures but like everyone is a different human lol
Sarah is so cute 😍💕
Right??!!
Sarah ikr lol some people have unrealistic expectations 😂
Agreed, you will NEVER get the same hair results as someone else even if they could exactly duplicate the same products and procedures on your hair, from start to finish! Hair texture, porosity, base color, general condition, colored and virgin hair are all factored in. My suggestion to this so-called Susan is just DIY if no one can please your picky butt! If you fry or burn off your hair or if it falls out, you can blame yourself, lady! Also, if you can't afford to have nice expensive trendy hair, be like the rest of us who can't even afford a basic haircut, go without or DIY!
Zofia Janeczek exactly it’s a luxury, if she can’t afford it diy or go without 🤷♀️
If you want good customer service, you gotta start by being a good customer.
BeauTK Unfiltered oooo im stealing this
Funny thing is, sometimes people who have to deal with problematic customers all the time just turn around and are being problematic customers themselves. People don't learn :(
Im always so confused by people who refuse to accept that they just simply have different hair than someone else. There are tons of things my hair just wont do no matter how much I wish it would.
IssaMe best decision: tell clients it’s not possible in your chair and every other stylists chair! So many totally delusional clients! They don’t work, they have no real responsibilities and are totally bored with their lives! Please stop the madness!!!!
When I was doing my Bachelors Degree graduation hair done my lovely hairstylist looked at the pics and told me we can do it but it will be a bit shorter as your hair isn't as long. I was like "of course it will be, that's no issue" and she told me how often people complain about random stuff like that. Your hair is a certain length, thickness and shade. You can change it up a lot but it cannot always look exactly the same. Do you know how often these pictures are of wigs? Or people with a lot of extensions so their hair looks thicker? Or getting a super ashy tone if you naturally have a reddish tone to your hair. Obviously there are miracle workers but people honestly just look at one image just as the video says. They don't see the hair in different lightings, hairstyles and so forth because that is what opens your eyes.
Oooh girl looking gorgeous with that lip color 💋💘
Thank you! :)
And from elf, too! So I can actually afford it 🙌
so true!! that lip is fabulous
I was gonna say that. :) suits her so well
I know righttt
She’s just like those annoying people who eat 100’s of dollars and don’t tip and leave a mess. I know those karens
I get being a perfectionist and wanting your hair to look good when you’re paying a pretty penny, but I can almost guarantee she complains because she knows she’ll get a discount. Even when I get my hair done and I don’t like it, or it turns out different than i expected, I still pay the full price and then go back to have it fixed for free, and still tip. The fact that she even admitted that she’s “been to every salon in town” sounds like she’s just another cheap and entitled customer looking for a discount and to ruin someone’s day
Call Me Calypso no 🤣 Born and raised in Washington state! It’s not as dead as you think it is hahaha
I think your boss saw what was coming a mile away and dropped her on you!
Hahahaha maybe!
Or maybe she knew she would complain so she sent her to you so she could "complain up", you can't go above the owner, lol.
Susan is the cousin of Karen.
I work retail and people ask for discounts like they're at a yardsale and when we cant give it to them its hell. I cant imagin working on peoples hair knowing from retail how entitled and rude customers can be.
I work CS for a huge international company offering online services with fixed prices (think 'Netflix subscription'). People contact us and try to haggle the fee. 'oh wait let me call the CEO and ask them if they're prepared to give you the service for this lower random price'
That's what I was thinking, this gave me PTSD from my Clinique cosmetic counter days lol
This isn't a street market in Cambodia! The prices are set...by Nordstroms....not the cosmetic consultants ....
I only ask for a discount if a clothing item has a flaw. For example I bought some sneakers but they had a little stain and I was'nt sure if I could get it out. So I asked for a 10% discount. In the end the stain was permanent so I was glad I payed a bit less.
@@johanna2690 that's completely fair though if it's a damaged item.
I don’t know what it is about your voice but I could literally listen to you ALLLL day. You could seriously retell your story times over and over and I would still watch them. 😂
Hahaha aw thank you :)
Omg same i love listening and watching her talk.
Same omg it’s so reassuring idk... would love a hair asmr video
Girl my microblading ran me almost $500! Though it DID include the touch-up appointment at 8 weeks. It's been almost a year now and I am convinced it's the best investment I've ever made LOL
Your eyebrows in your profile pic look so good!
@@Kony-2012 Thank you so much! The pic is actually from before they were microbladed, so its just drawn with pencil.. My brows are super light blonde so drawing them on every morning was dreadfulllll lol
@@eminette49 You are angel ♥️😇
God bless you 🙏
I'm just not afraid to tell someone to go someplace else. I don't need the stress. Idiots.
klb374money yeah i would rather a hair stylist tell me they can’t do it or can’t do it one sitting etc. I’ve had my hair ruined so many times because they just wanted the business I guess so they tried doing it but failed. I’d rather them be honest so I know to just find somewhere else!
Alexis Rose Ohh yes, I agree!!! I have curls up front and down back, but waves up top. A lot of hairdressers just cut my hair as if straight. They cut it wet and straightened. Granted it looks good like that. But when my normal hairstructure returns, it looks like a crooked mess 😂
12nunchaku same, you have to tell them that you have a 2B/3B hair type and that you need them to cut it dry. Or they will always mess it up. And make sure they comb it and not brush it
@klb Sometimes you have to fire a client.
klb374money I’ve fired a client. I got fed up with her second guessing everything I did. (“Are those the right size perm rods? Shouldn’t you rinse off the perm lotion now?” ). Enough was enough! I told her I wouldn’t do her hair anymore. I had given her many perms and she was happy with them but she made me miserable through the whole process.
She’s probably that person who complains everytime at a restaurant too!!
It’s me and then gets her food spit on.
Ever notice those bitches have great hair cuts??? My daughter was a Server for year and she noted a correlation.
No, she loved it. But she complained to get a discount
You know she paraded around work like the queen. Proud she got it cheaper too. She won't tell a business that though.
Nightmare.. red flags for sure. There is a special place in hell for these “Susan’s “us stylists have to deal with😂
Girl those red flags were on fire I could feel my anxiety creeping up I can't stand clients like this thank God there not all like this I swear we need body cams like the police👀
Omg I would LOVE to watch stylist body cams of bad client interactions! Imagine how entertaining that would be!!
There should be! Imagine the policy: be respectful or go viral
Should have cut Susan’s hair into a Karen style
the 'I want to speak to the manager' cut. It gives people a hint of what is to come.
@rzum81 No!!!! I still don't know what "Karen" means. I have a feeling it like calling someone a "Betty" like I used to do. It's funny.
@@karend169 Just search for "can I speak to the manager haircut". That is Karen, the one that is difficult to please, the one that speaks to retail staff like dirt and always asks to speak to the manager (and usually has that hairstyle).
@@deepsympathy Thanks. It is funny.
karend169 any time there’s an entitled female behaving badly, they’re called Karen. They all seem to have the same haircut so it’s called the “I want to speak to your manager” cut. Entitled guys are called Chad. Nothing against real Karen’s. Lol
So I had dreadlocks once (not intentional.. I was really depressed) and I told the stylist about how I was scared that she would have to cut so much off...she spent 4 HOURS on it.. she did amazing and I'm so thankful for her
Hope you are feeling better now
❤️
Suzan the serial scammer. She definitely just wanted to get a discount.
I would definitely have to learn how to control my facial expressions a little better if I had your job 🤦🏻♀️😂 I admire how professional you are
Every person sees color differently. Some people see more, some people see less. It’s subjective.
That lipstick looks good on you!!
Thank you :)
Love the lipstick color on you ❤️
Thank you!
I can even comprehend being that mad about my hair, like of course it’s not going to look EXACTLY like the photo that’s another persons hair it’s going to look different! love these videos!
It’s awful that any of us have to deal with clients like this. But honestly it makes me feel so much better hearing other people’s horror stories because it makes me know and realize it’s not just me dealing with crazy clients. There’s been times where I literally wanted to give up doing hair because I felt like it was just me dealing with this.
Colour looking different in different lights part made me laugh; I have very long dyed red hair, and there’s a slight ombré too it. It’s a much more true red at the top and slightly orangey in the lengths and I love it...but I love it most in the toilets at work or in my boyfriends local pub. The red just catches the light more I think, or it’s the tone of the lights...ironically, both those places are also where I’ve gotten most compliments on my hair!
My hair stylist fried off an INSANE amount of my hair. As she was brushing my hair out after she bleached it, my hair was literally falling out in the chair.
I didn't say a word because I was too scared and did not want to make her feel bad. I went out and bought $250 worth of extensions after lol
Meanwhile, there is people like this. WILD
Hannah Echo girl ...
Hannah Echo wow girl you should definitely have said something 😳😩
Hannah Echo
LMAAAOOOO yikes . I always feel awkward at the salon too though. I never want to complain after they’ve just spent hours on my hair , but sometimes it’s really not even close to what you ask for. So it really sucks to spend so much money on a bad hairstyle :(
Oh gosh. I can understand not wanting to say something and not wanting to make the stylist feel bad because I know it’s not in my nature to make someone feel bad either.
I recently got a cut I didn’t ❤️ but I was a walk-in and could have gotten off my butt and made an appointment earlier with my regular person. However, my procrastinating self didn’t and I had another Stylist. She was adorable, sweet, funny and really did her best. Rather than hurt her feeling, I told I loved it, tipped her well and went on my way. It is only hair, it will grow.
I'd love a stylist like you. It's great that even w problematic clients, you reflect and learn what you can do better in the future. You're growing with each negative experience instead of just being like "whatever Susan just was someone who wanted a discount" (even tho it sounds like she did), but you still think "what can *i* do to prevent these experiences in the future". That's awesome and I applaud you💖
Thank you :)
This is why I couldn’t do hair lol it definitely sounds like she does this to get a discount. Also who thinks that their hair could ever look exactly like someone else’s? When you think that people can’t be that stupid you get reminded that yes they can
The lady that does my microblading is £180 ($237) which is hella cheap! I was expecting a lot more. The price includes the consultation, the procedure, the top up and the aftercare.
She’d be charging more if she was in a bigger city rather than a little town I’m in.
Also, I’m not sure if it applies to everyone who microblades, but when I go back to her it will only be $80 onward for the upkeep because the time has already been spent measuring and consulting etc.
Things like hair, eyebrows etc are luxuries don’t have to get them done if you think they’re expensive. Stop moaning Susan.
KL W - I paid I think £250 for mine in Liverpool so that’s quite cheap. That’s included all the above as well
I live in a town of 250k had to ay $500 for microblading...that hurt...but I knew it going inso no complaining her. I could have continued to draw on the brows but the woman did a very nice job
I live in the US and I paid around $500 but I didn’t care. It’s such a game changer and I love the result!
ugh my aunt is a person like this and is never satisfied at salons and restaurants and such. she always finds something to complain about, asks for the manager, tries to get things super discounted etc. it's so rude and a big reason i don't associate with her anymore. i feel so bad for anyone who has to deal with clients like this. bless y'all.
The problem with adding waves is when she washes her hair, and the waves come out, she'll be mad
The moment a client drops that "I've been here and there but *no one can get things right for me* "... you should immediately... *RUN* to save yourself a ton of headache and hassle.
Some people.... When my hair was platinum blonde like literally white it was so ashy at night it looked like dark grey, I feel like people have no common sense lol
Everything costs so much in America, a good balayage here is maybe £95 at most, microblading £150!
I was thinking this too, like all the numbers are bigger there, but their salaries also match. Like I see people complaining about living on a 70k salary and I'm like I'm in the uk and if I got a 70k salary I'd be SMILING 😭
Natassia Longmore we complain about that salary because everything is so expensive. :(
@@troyklk7734 literally I know. Your university is so expensive as well and your student loan systems is crazy, then theres healthcare..... it's crazy. So when I see people are on like 70k salaries and still struggle, it scares me because your cost of living must be highhh
The cheapest 2 bedroom apartment i could find in my town (small mountain town) in California is $900/month plus utilities. Cheapest gas is $3.69/gallon..
Xxo3xX that’s so crazy!! where i live a small apartment costs about 350€/ month, which is about 390 dollars. also our university are for free. i don’t have to pay anything except for the books. Also I heard that in america you have to pay for applying for college ? that’s so weird, here you don’t have to pay anything
I'm studying beauty therapy and clients like this are a nightmare. Beauty services aren't a right you don't need them. So expect to pay for the luxury
Everything you do for your clients is so amazing! You gave her a great consultation. It’s awesome you know that just because they “want the haircut in the photo” doesn’t mean they understand the haircut. Keep doing you! I hope you never get any “Susan’s” again!!
I was a hairstylist for many years and had a client bring me a barbie doll to tell me they wanted that same color. This client had super dry wavy hair and wanted the shine that the doll had. I examined there was no way her hair was going to look like that and thank God she understood. Lol
“Don’t be a Susan.” Any other lilsimsie fans out there?
Yess
I’ve been licensed and doing hair for over 10 years and this kind of thing has def happened to me too. Red flags & all. By the time you realize your client is displaying red flags, it’s too late & you’re already knee deep into the appointment. 🤦🏼♀️
your whole look, lips nails and hair for me, is EVERYTHING. I just, wow. Love the complimentary colors and how it looks with your skin tone 😭❤️
Be like "look Susan, I get it that you're unhappy about this. But I think you're unhappy about something else. Don't bring that negative vibe in here. Now pay me"
My hair stylist pulled the “wash it a couple times” recently. Because I had had the color before I was confused. She was amazing and fixed it for free and of course I still tipped her anyway
LOL I love how all these difficult broads are named "Susan" 😂😂😂 working with the public can be very hard! Love your stories and your positivity 💛
I only style..i dont cut hair...but when they show me a picture i always tell them that is not going to look exactly like picture..i explain to them every hair is different..texture and so forth
Whaaaat? Doing hair is so hard. Learning how to foil is the most difficult thing, and you have to do it super fast. Girl, hair stylists are talented and work very hard. My mom was a cosmetologist for 17 years
I know I feel like she's being very humble
i’m so glad i’ve finally found my stylist! i was like that client that was never satisfied but i didn’t understand the process of it all but this one stylist took the time to explain it to me and tell me the steps we’d have to go in to get what i wanted and i’m extremely happy with her! this salon gives bagels and coffee as well in the morning and has massage chairs for the washing. so cool haha. enjoyed this video ! xoxo
Oooh that sounds like a great salon! Now I'm craving a bagel lol!
Sam Vay omg! i had no idea you were in stroudsburg , i visit mt pocono all the time. i’d love to get my hair done by you one day! 😍
I've rewatched this video like 10 times to have on in the background while I do housework lol. Love your story times
Oh man, I really love your story times. I can tell the difference in your retelling. The original, in my opinion was great. It felt like we were having a sesh amongst friends. And it’s nice because I’m from NJ and you’re currently the closest to someone I relate to, because you that North East/TriState/Not a caricature of a person of what I relate to being.
But this retelling emphasized your professionalism in recognizing what a consumer can think, as opposed to a difficult customer whose developed a reputation AND STILL DOING THE BEST YOU CAN.
Instead of discounting them it seems more fair to charge her more for the extra time and product used
I feel like everyone that gets balayage doesn’t like it until you wave it. Bc every picture is waved. Literally every time this happens to me.
I used to work at Sally’s and the amount of people who got their hair done and hated it who would come in to ruin their hair. They would almost always have such beautiful color from their stylist.
Half the time I convinced them that their hair looked perfect
I can tell you are a good stylist because of the questions that you asked the clients. I always ask a lot of questions to my stylist to make sure that we are on the same page because I understand fantasy vs reality. Some people will never be happy no matter what.
$200-$250!! Jesus wept, if that how much is costs in the US to get your hair done I’m shook
Considering what she had done;
Root color, full hilite, toner with haircut and blow dry..... it’s not that much in the grand scheme of things.
Amy Rebecca it’s way way more expensive in Australia, I look at American prices and am jealous! Haha
krislupi66 it is considering even at a salon in the UK that has a good stylist would cost inbetween £60-£80. A salon that has professional stylists would cost £100 maybe a little more depending on how good they are. Considering she’s not even the highest trained stylist there that’s super expensive
I routinely pay $300-$400 for my hair because it’s bright colors so that sounds like a dream
Yeah it’s like 250 for a cut blow dry and highlights in Aus
I’ve realized that waving or curling has had a lot to do with clients’ perceived view of photos and even the outcome of their own hair whether it’s color or even the cut.
But I’ve seen your work, you do an amazing job, and she had a great starting canvas, so I’m sure you nailed it! I’m sure when she thoroughly examined it in all kinds of different light the next day is when she realized she loved it lol...🤦🏼♀️
Definitely!! Thank you so much :)
You’re really entertaining ❣️ hope you’ll keep the STORYTELLING/STORY TIME on, regardless of the topics
lol i’m in beauty school and yesterday I started thinking about your original video and what you thought about it watching it now hahaha weird coincidence that it popped up in my notifs
Same wave length ;)
My boss (she isn't a stylist herself, just owns the salon) doesn't believe that there are these red flag clients. She wants us to accept every (!) client, even though that has been causing problems in the past. Finally hearing another professional talk about clients like this is such a relief because i was slowly feeling like it is all in my head.
I love watching your story times 😍💖
I swear, I watch RUclips all the time...you are the first person who said “I’ll link in the card above...” a particular video, and you actually did it. Sign of pride in professionalism. Kudos.
It SHOWS that you, as hairstylist, that you are truly trying to do your BEST! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I wish you best of luck with your career!
Thank you so much!
this lip color on you is giving me life
$200-250 for a hair makeover??? Damnn I had no idea that hair salons in America were THAT expensive..
I’ve paid $350 including tip before 😂
Your channel popped up on my home page. Very happy. I don’t go and do my hair that often, i’m letting it grow back to my preferred length and growing out my blond balayage. I can manage split ends by myself at home.
But for when I’m gonna back to a hair salon, I will be much more knowledgeable with etiquette & expectations.
I just subscribed 😇
i can really tell you know your shit about hair. its really awesome how calm you sound and the things you say and bring up make total sense :)
Im not a stylist but this summer i cut my own hair with craft scissors and a barbie comb at 3 am. I never went to a professional to get it touched up and it doesnt look bad
Jinxx101990 !¡!¡! Omg same. I dye and trim my hair always by myself and that saves me a lot of money, also it looks pretty good
@@user-ug2fm5xq3q plus its fun and cheaper
At least when we do our own hair we normally aren’t mad at it...🤷🏻♀️
You're joking right
Mikayland Dodge nope
One of my favorite RUclipsrs love you!
Clicked for the story, stayed because you are SO engaging!! 💕
Im glad I found your channel! I think another item to take into account is the type of hair a person has. When I have brought in a photo to my stylist she explained how my hair is a bit of a different thickness and hair type of the person in the photo. She said she could do something Similar. I appreciated she was so upfront.
Sam, your makeup looks so beautiful in this video ! 😊
Thank you!
Love your story times ♥️
You Client stories give me life. Happy to know I'm not the only one with crazy clients.
I've really been enjoying your channel! Always so happy when you upload lol. I just got my hair done yesterday and brought in inspo photos. Did it come out the exact same? No. Not at all. But things came up that hindered that from happening and I totally understand that. Hairdressers aren't robots. All hair isn't the same. It's not one size fits all. If only more people understood this. Btw, $250 for microblading is a STEAL lol
Not trying to stir the pot but your boss should have taken this client. Especially since the boss knew this was already going to be a difficult client.
When you said how expensive micro blade was I was like yikes but then you said how long it lasted and I was like oh ok
feelingsuperclouded yeah it’s actually s good deal I kinda wanna get it done but broke ahahha
Same. There's a difference between expensive and not affordable after all:
It's a good deal, but can't afford it. xD
I could listen to you tell stories all day!!! More, more, more!!!♥️♥️♥️
Just a heads up for the comment you said about her saying she wants the exact photo and then saying she doesn't. I've seen that photo before. In fact, I wanted this exact haircut not too long ago. But us, non hairstylists, don't notice the details at all.
I didn't know it was shorter in the back, even now looking at the picture, I don't really see it that much. Hell, I didn't even notice the roots were black. When you look at a photo, you think "oh i need to do this, then do that and finish with that" but when we, customers, look at a photo we just think "wow this is SOOO pretty, i want exactly that, no matter what" without realizing sometimes it's blond and we are black so we need multiple treatments, and so on.
I think you did a great job explaining it to her though and I personally have huge anxiety so I absolutely LOVE IT when my hairstylist takes the time to ask me questions about what I want. It makes me feel like she knows what she is doing and I get much more comfortable.
That awkward moment when your name is Susan 😮😂
Oooooo my favorite kind of videos lol can’t wait to get home from work and sit and watch this on my TV lol
Poor Sam. You can never get a break!!!😂😭 love you girl 💞
I love your videos!!! You give so much information and helpful tips for stylists and clients! ❤️❤️❤️
And that’s why we can’t promise them that they’re going to get exact results!
Nohemi Martinez so true
I have NEVER walked into salon with a pic an say “I want this exact thing”. I just say “I like this. How close can we get to it?” because I KNOW my hair is different from the girl in the pic and the lighting used in the pics is vastly different. Most of those pics have a filter. People are crazy!!!
I am soooo fortunate to have had the same stylist for years. We have been through long hair, medium hair, and my current short hair. I love her and she is very sensitive to what I like/don't like. She is about half an hour drive and I drive it gladly. Lucky me! Sorry for those who don’t find their perfect match. Also sorry for stylists who have to take new clients who are never happy.
I am new to your channel. Loved the first video I watched so had to watch another. I get that you are shy and don't like confrontation, so I am. It still doesn't mean that people should try to take advantage of you! I love the stylist I have been going to for the last year and appreciate the time it takes for her to do my hair. These people don't take into account that their hair is unique! I always know going in to things that my hair is not going to look the same as a picture. Especially since I have curly hair that is harder to manage the older I get. These women are just trying to make your job harder. I have hair cuts/color in the past that I didn't like but I never said anything. It's hair it will grow back! Anyway love your channel and happy to be here!
I clicked as soon as I saw this bold lipstick and the name SUSAN! 😂
I’ve never been in a salon that has good lighting unless it’s surrounded by massive windows during the day. You can’t help when it gets dark out! 🤷🏻♀️
Your consultation sounds so thorough. Even more so than my regular salon, although at least they go through and check with me before cutting and keep me updated underway.
I recently had a different stylist (at a different salon) do my hair, and I gave her a ref pic. I saw the hair in the pic as same length all around, and feel I explained to her that's what I wanted, with the length no shorter than just above my collarbones-ish (I pointed to where). She starts cutting, and does me so short in the back. She already cut, so I couldn't really say "Isn't that a bit much?"
Basically she ended up giving me an angle, which she explained while she was cutting (not going through before), and made the longest point at the bottom of my jawline. But because she cut it while having it straightened (my hair is usually a bit wavy), it looked like it was the length I wanted. I could tell emidiately it wasn't xD
She also didn't thin it out at all, despite me telling her to multiple times because my hair is really thick, so it ended up looking bulky and uneaven. Luckily my hair grows fast and the longest point is already coming down towards my collarbones now. It still looks uneaven when it's not straightened, and I do not style my hair very often, so... maybe this all happened because we didn't communicate very well on what the cut should actually look like on me?
I'll say this much: It's not the worst I've had, but it's deffinitely not the best either, and I'm looking forward to having it long enough to get it corrected at my regular salon.
Wow!! Some people will NEVER be happy with what they get. YOU were totally professional and kind!! Hats off to you, hon! You Rock!! You are better off without that client - be thankful she's not coming back!! Hugs to you!
